In the short few years since my initial review, there have been numerous changes that now require an update. Jollibee is still more popular than ever and these four stars are really for what I hope they'll stand to achieve, not what they've been as of late. :: Red Ribbon is of no more (#1) and now Jollibee stands practically alone in its own little corner of the plaza. Instead Baker's Son By Valerio (#2) across the parking lot has become the pseudo Filipino carb hotspot that is resonating well with the community. :: Things are more expensive than ever. A 10 piece is practically $25 and family meals (aka bucket treats) are anywhere from $39-53. In spite of being one of my most made-up words in review form, Foodflation deserves another mention because it absolutely applies here. :: They now have mac and cheese on the menu. It has the same consistency as Popeye's or KFC, which is really not good. it's salty, tastes artificial, and is paltry in portion, especially when considering the price. :: They are also slower than ever. Even when there isn't something happening at NRG, the wait has been as long as 45 minutes for group and I, and even longer for a large order. This is for both takeout and dining in. For drive-thru goers, one will be directed to an open parking spot where they'll eventually bring the food out. :: For folks needing points via the app, it can only be applied using a phone number. They have no ability to scan anything on the app itself. It's just a tinge backwards. The other Jollibee locations are better in terms of execution, but this just happens to be the only one inside the loop. In the past, I never understood the Jollibee hype. Being a Filipina, I know that's unusual... But, I do appreciate it much more as of late. It's been YEARS since I've visited a Jollibee, and it seems both the individual locations and the brand as a whole have made a lot of upgrades and changes for the better! The kiosk ordering system is a nice convenience, and (specific to the Houston restaurant) the establishment has been renovated for a more modern & minimalist look. Also worth mentioning: The restaurant was clean, and the crew was organized and efficient. Go, H-Town! Now, the food: I don't dislike the spaghetti, but it's still not my cup of tea... I still can't wrap my head or my tastebuds around the sweet & sugary sauce, and the addition of fatty hot dogs just don't do it for me. The adobo rice is overrated, in my option... a lot of garlic and salt, but missing the essence of adobo. I'll also pass on the biscuit next time (dry and didn't have much going on). However, I totally get why the fried chicken has become so viral! Super crispy, but not greasy. Great flavor & seasoning without being obnoxiously salty (think Popeye's cousin who went to college). If you have never tried Jollibees, you are missing out! Their locations are few and far between so the only time I ever get to have them is when I travel and thankfully, Houston had a spot. This place is HOPPING especially after a football game gets out from NRG Stadium. It is within walking distance which makes it convent for those who are still hungry after the game. Expect long wait times, but I always find it worth it especially for the chicken, I invited my cousins along who had never tried Jollibee and they loved it, especially their mashed potatoes and gravy. I had the chicken sandwich, fries and of course their peach/mango pie. If you haver never had one, get one. I don't wan to spoil the experience you will have after biting into one. It had been years since I'd had Jollibee, but I was excited to try it again. I had recently seen they had KBBQ fried chicken options that looked appetizing The line stretched (overflowed) outside of the to-go boundaries and that was because it was fairly busy, but also because the design for their to-go area wasn't overly thought out It was initially difficult to hear anyone in the other end of the speaker. They person at the window was not very pleasant an would ignore me at times The food is good. It's always been good. It's not good for you with loads of fried and starchy options, but it's tasty. The KBBQ chicken is no exception. It's not the best I've ever had, but I was impressed by the glaze, the crunch, the flavor, and the overall appearance of it. The quality of the food wasn't the issue... The way the to-go comes out looks all tidy and together in multiple containers. Jollibee: 5 Stars! Wow, Jollibee really impressed me, 5 out of 5 stars from someone who usually sticks to burger joints! For a fast food place, it exceeded my expectations big time. As soon as I stepped inside, I was struck by how bright, clean and nice it was. It's so much better than the usual fast food experience, it's a place to enjoy a meal not just grab and go. Then came the fries - served in cute little individual bags. I mean, who does that? It's such a small detail but it made the experience feel a bit more special than just a cardboard box. Nice touch! As someone who usually goes to burger joints, I wasn't sure what to expect from Jollibee's main offerings but the real showstopper for me was the Dragonfruit Sunset Quencher. This drink was amazing - vibrant, refreshing and full of flavor. It's one of the best drinks I've had at a fast food place, period. I savored every sip. My only regret and it's a big one is that there's no Jollibee in Minnesota. I found myself wishing I could just pop in for that quencher (and maybe try more of their menu) on a regular basis. This location does not pick up their phone. I accidentally placed an order at the wrong store and tried calling right away to cancel. Called over three times with no answer. I ended up calling the location I actually meant to order from, and when they called on my behalf, this store suddenly picked up and said they would cancel it. Pairing their chicken with their adobo rice and gravy is the best combo! Filipino spaghetti is slightly different because it's more sweet and it has Chinese sausage and hot dogs. I tried out Jollibee's collab with Katseye by getting their special kbbq chicken sandwich. They dip their chicken breast fillet in a sweet soy glaze that is supposed to have a bold kick of heat. It's topped with cilantro, red onion, and cucumber slices. The chicken itself was actually pretty juicy, but if you want a crispy chicken then this isn't the one for you. The sauce makes it more softer. The flavor itself was really good! Good but not overpowering soy flavor and also a small kick of heat, could probably use more. I had Jollibee fried chicken and spaghetti on the mind for a while, but kept putting off the long drive just for a quick meal- but the commute is so worth it. Food quality has always been consistent and delicious, but the menu variety varies between different Jollibee restaurants. This location does have Yumburgers (delicious and super nostalgic) and Ube Pies (!!!) on the menu, but no Jolly Hotdogs. Highly recommend the fried chicken paired with rice + gravy or spaghetti; pancit palabok; and both pies (Peach-Mango and Ube). If you're a first timer, know that Filipino spaghetti is meant to be on the sweeter side and tastes very different from classic spaghetti. The sweet and savory combo when you pair it with fried chicken is unparalleled. Service was friendly and efficient; location is spacious and clean. Parking lot is good since it shares a shopping strip with several other restaurants and businesses. There is a solicitor that comes in every now and again but that's not Jollibee's fault, just something to keep in mind if you plan on dining in. If you don't like Jollibee, then you haven't tried their best menu items and you haven't visited with an actual Filipino that will tell you what to get. Always get the fried chicken bucket combo, either spicy or regular, you can't go wrong. It comes with two sides of white rice which you will definitely want for the gravy. This place has gone downhill since I first came here last year. I picked up an order the other day, 3 piece kbbq with mashed potatoes and biscuits. Chicken was soggy and taste was off but I guess that's not their fault, I wouldn't ever try that again. The mashed potatoes was clumpy dry and tasted like paper, with very little gravy to take away from it. Biscuits were tacky and hard. The service is also super odd with the person at drive through also wanting to rush you out and close the window immediately after they hand it to you. No warm welcome. First time trying this place. It's located in a shopping center near my physical therapy clinic. Parking was plentiful even though the restaurant seemed to be receiving a steady flow of customers. A friend from the UK sang this chain's praises over there so I got interested. My mother likes fried chicken and I was eager to try the infamous "sweet spaghetti". We ordered a little of everything. The chicken was juicy. The spaghetti was gone in an instant. (I wasn't even able to get a photo before the family inhaled it!) The adobo rice was a bit underwhelming. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I ended up pouring my leftover gravy over it and that helped. For me, the best part of the selection was the palabok fiesta noodles. It had a strong garlic flavor I enjoyed with a hint of seafood flavor (from dried shrimp?) The meal came with a dessert. The style of it reminded me of the type of hand-pies from certain burger chains. I went ahead and heated it up for a few seconds to get the filling warm. I'm glad I did because it turned the pie into a drippy delight! I washed it all down with a guava quencher. It tasted like a fresh-squeezed lemonade mixed with real guava juice. What a freaking weird place. I was in the area and looking for a quick place to grab some lunch. I remembered seeing something about Jollibee, but couldn't remember anything else. The sign said fried chicken, burgers, spaghetti... None of which in my opinion could really be bad on any level. The menu was strange... Combos with both chicken and spaghetti? I was intrigued, so I took a chance and ordered, my drink that I ordered was unsweet tea. The gal behind the counter handed me a cup and I went around the corner looking for the ever present tea urn. No urns in sight. I look at the selection of fountain drinks hoping I was not going to see a premixed tea option, but there it was. Unsweet was not an option, so I settled on raspberry tea . I mean, come on, we are in Texas where they practically shoot tea out of the water fountains. I had missed a clue, not even the first I am embarrassed to say. I got my tea and turned around to find a seat, it was then I noticed there was a dining room full of Asian people. I had also somehow missed the fact that every employee was also Asian, shame on my observation skills. There was one other old white lady who was having someone take her picture with the life-size Jollibee mascot, a red bee wearing a chef's hat and bow tie. So her opinion did not count. I was getting nervous. I don't know what I was expecting, but I got fried chicken and spaghetti. Thank all that is holy that they were two individual items, I don't know what I would have done if the chicken had been sitting on top of the spaghetti. The chicken wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. It was lacking in flavor and despite the lunch hour, tasted old to me. No salt to be found. Of course they include a container of their famous gravy. Also ordered a peach mango pie to try. Have heard good things. Got home and the food was still piping hot. The 6 piece combo is 3 legs and 3 thighs. The skin is so crispy. And the spicy is spicy. Not overly spiced up for me but just enough. The adobo rice was so good. Garlicky and packed full of flavor. Their mashed potatoes are nice and fluffy. I just can't help but like their spaghetti. Filipino spaghetti sauce is slightly more sweet topped with cheese and slices of hot dogs. Sounds weird but works well together. Pineapple quenchers, enough said. I love this drink. Now to the peach mango pie, after the first bite, I understood the hype. I recently ordered delivery through Ubereats for 10 year old son and my husband who has a broken leg and exhausted from dialysis. My husband didn't want to make a deal out of it but I don't either but it was very disappointing. Why I see this chickenhead charged me for a palabok WITH drink, the meal without the pie, and $3 for the pie. Any DT worker with common sense would have switched me to the $10 meal with the pie. She told me she isn't typically on a register and got the palabok price wrong, it's really 7.49 for just the entree. I was like this doesn't make sense, you're overcharging me ringing up all this stuff separately even if it's not 5.99. She leaning all out the DT window huffing and puffing and rolling her eyes cause she presumed I didn't comprehend the idiotic reasoning she was giving me for my total. I decided not to match her energy, I said I'm just trying to tell you this doesn't make sense. She gets a female manager which figures out the chickenhead's mistakes and refunds me $3. It took her way too long to do this as a mgr but she finally got it. Now the spicy chicken was good, could have been fried harder. The pie which I had to wait even longer after that fiasco was way too damn hot even 30 minutes later. And I didn't like anything but the crust. After 4 visits and basically receiving the same service 4 times. I have updated my review and rating. Someone mentioned they come off as mildly racist. 3.5 stars.. First time trying this location, it wasn't too busy when I came in on a normal Thursday evening at 8ish, but they were already out of Spicy and only had the original.. Darn. Went with the Chicken joy combo with the peach mango pie. The chicken was juicy, although not that crispy nor special to me, the gravy + the adobo rice was good. (I could definitely see myself getting addicted to that gravy if I'm not too careful). The pie crust was also very crisp and delicious, the filling was a little too sweet though. Overall, a little pricey on the fast-food scale but overall it was a decent first-time experience. would definitely want to try the Palabok or the chicken sandwich next time read more
