The service was very friendly but unfortunately the tacos just weren't very good especially for the cost. The Tejano beef meat tasted weird. Stopped by Liberty Taco for a to-go order, and it completely hit the spot. The service was fast and friendly. My order was ready quickly, and the staff was welcoming, even though I didn't dine in. I ordered the chips and queso with Tejano beef and sour cream and yessirskii it was fulfilling. Instead of using the chips they offered which were good. I used Doritos lime flaming hot chips. That combo took it to another level. The queso was rich and creamy, and the beef added just the right amount of flavor and spice. The sour cream balanced it all out perfectly. Honestly, I could eat that every day seriously!! The chicken fajita tacos were just as solid juicy, flavorful chicken with nicely charred edges, wrapped in warm, soft tortillas. Everything tasted fresh and well-seasoned. Even just walking in for pickup, I noticed the space is bright, clean, and inviting definitely somewhere I'd return to for a casual dine-in meal. It's a cold January morning and we came into Liberty Taco to get a quick bite. We were welcomed by a very cheerful lady named Ingris who took our order and told us our food would be served shortly. I ordered the potato, egg and cheese breakfast taco and it was delicious. One was enough for me it was so filling. And if you like your food spicy their habanero sauce is just that. We enjoyed our tacos listening to some lively tunes. Ingris said their lunches are also delicious. When I come back to this area I will come again. read more

Life, liberty and the pursuit of...Tacos?!?! Liberty Tacos has been a restaurant I've wanted to try for a while and well, the experience was meh. Average at best when it comes to Tacos spots. Located in a shopping center on OST in the Medical Center this quaint little spot boasts pictures and images references Lady Liberty, very charming. It's a cool place for that pit stop for a quick bite. With quesadillas and featured tacos and such as the Liberty Chicken and Loberty Steak taco (which I've been told are crowd favorites) there's enough to choose from. Going with the "favorite" (Liberty Chicken and Liberty Steak Tacos) though tasty, I can't say that I was blown away by the flavor, it was average. Each taco came with fajita like fixins, a touch of Pico and the Protein. The smoke on the Chicken was nice but could have been better with a cilantro lime type of sauce to give it different taste element, but that option wasn't made available, instead it was a mild taco sauce that was anything but mild ( I guess it doesn't help that I'm sensitive to spice). The steak had a bit of a chew to it and didn't give that wow factor when it comes to flavor, but was ok. As for the service, even after sharing that it was my first time, the woman at the counter met me with a rather flat reception, perhaps it had just been a long day for her. None the less the cost of the tacos wasn't bad at about $7 a pop. It's worth a try if wanting a different take on the taco experience. Enjoy! read more

Disgusting. I got 3 Tejano beef tacos and the meat tastes ROTTEN. I had to throw it away. The queso was very grainy (the milk proteins curdled) and lacked flavor. Only 1/3 of salsas that came with the order was good. It had this gorgeous orange color to it. Probably the best thing from this place but I didn't pay $24 to eat salsa ... LOL. I will say the customer service was great, I ordered it to go super last minute and they made my order pretty quickly. The gentleman that handed me my food was very kind. This place is such a great local taco place in the med center! I was suprised excited to come try it with some friends!! I got the liberty steak and baja shrimp tacos. My favorite was the baja shrimp! The shrimp were huge and super crispy! The flavors of the sauce, cheese, onions all made for a perfect baja shrimp taco! 10/10 would recommend. The liberty steak taco was also delicious but I felt it did need some of the salsa on it as extra sauce; however, the flavor was definitely there! Out and about with the wifey on a Friday morning and we feel the need for some breakfast tacos. So why not try Liberty Taco as we see one while driving. So I get two tacos, brisket, egg and cheese and my old favorite that has never let me down bacon, egg and cheese tacos. At this point I'm really looking forward to my tacos, first because I'm really hungry and second because we're sitting near the kitchen and can hear a lot of cooking noises going on in there. So I'm thinking it's taking almost 10 minutes for my tacos to come out, they are going to be hot, fresh and amazing! Well I guess one out of the three ain't bad. It was AMAZING that these tacos that were just made didn't taste hot or fresh. As proof from my taco photo that I took the cheese on my tacos was not melted at all. So after doing a little more investigation, ie eating my tacos they were both cold! The brisket bacon and eggs looked really delicious and I kept thinking in my mind what these would have tasted like if they were even slightly warm enough to melt the cheese? Why even have a kitchen if not to use its devilish charms to make warm or we can all dream hot tacos! I'm thinking next time if I want breakfast tacos I will go to Taco Cabana, while they might not be the best breakfast tacos at least they will come out warm. Side note-the red salsa rates way better than the green salsa but be warned, it's very watery and you will have water running out of the back of your taco no matter how little salsa you use! read more

This spot peaked my interest because of the different flavor combinations they have. It's not your classic texmex tacos. You order at the counter and they will give you a number. Seat yourself and they will bring the food to the table. I tried the Caribbean Chicken, Cajun Fish, and Liberty Steak tacos. My favorites are in that order. The Caribbean chicken isn't your classic jerk but the seasoning on that chicken was great! And I loved the pico and sauces on that taco. Second was the fish. It's a very good size piece of fish. The condiments on top were good too. They only put one of those peppers on top and wish they gave me at least 3 to taste in each bite. Lastly the steak taco was plain. I added sour cream and their hot salsa to it to dress it up a little. Head up: they charge 50 cents for everything extra. Extra shredded cheese = charge. Extra Sour cream = charge. I don't like that. Should be able to fix our tacos up the way we would like it without paying extra for every little thing. read more

I noticed this place a while back on my daily commute to work and just figured it was another cliche taco spot with "exotic" flavors so I never gave it a try. After giving it a try today I've realized, I was right. The service and look of the restaurant is very nice, however, I ordered to go, just wanted a quick in and out. It's a order and pick your own seat kind of place with a chill hipster vibe. Ordered two tacos and queso and came out in less than 10 minutes so that's good. I only stay about a 3-4 minute drive away so food was still hot when i started eating. I ordered the Chicken Tinga and Caribbean Chicken tacos and the regular chips and queso. This ran about $15 and some change The Chicken Tinga lacked any flavor profile and just had a hunk of avocado on top of the taco with none of the other noted toppings. The tortilla was doughy for both tacos and could've used a bit more cook time. There was a lot of chicken, but flavorless. The Caribbean Chicken taco also was no star. With the chicken having a bit more flavor, it did not match the flavor profile of the description. No spice. No jerk flavor (more of a sweet bbq sauce type situation). The mango had no flavor even and lacked sour cream on my taco except a few sprinkles. The only good part about this experience was the queso. Just your typical mid of the road queso that you would expect at a place like this. My chips seemed as if hot fresh ones were put on top of older stale chips. So the best of the experience was also mid. All in all, I could've have continued to pass this place everyday without going in and I would have been perfectly fine. read more

Great portions, fun taco options, and fantastic customer service. I got way too much food, usually I'll eat 4 tacos if it's from an authentic taqueria, but these are a little less authentic of course (considering they have Thai, Jamaican, etc options) but still delicious and the portions are LARGE as you can see in the pics. Each tray is 1 taco. I didn't get the cashier's name, but the service was the best I've ever had in a fast casual place like this. The potato and egg taco would get 1 star sadly and the jalapeño sausage egg and cheese taco get 3 because the sausage and the sausage was flavorful and a little warm. The eggs were room temp and tasted like they had been made earlier. The tortillas were barely warm and tasted like machine made and precooked to be reheated. The cheese on top was not melted at all. It was really disappointing. The potatoes in the potatoes and egg had no seasoning or flavor and some salt and red salsa perked it up enough for me to eat. Beware that salsa. Liberty taco never verified to make sure that order was going to the right person, and told my driver they would not remake my order due to their screw up! I frequently pass by Liberty Taco and finally got around to trying it when a friend wanted to meet up for lunch here. The place was empty when we arrived (for Saturday lunch). ATMOSPHERE: The place felt like a typical taco shop, but I liked the plethora of natural light from the surrounding window-walls. It was empty while we were eating there, which made it easy to have a comfortable conversation with my friend. FOOD: I ordered a Cali Club, Liberty Chicken, and Caribbean Chicken Taco. Of the 3, I only liked the Cali Club. The chicken in the other two tasted dry, especially in the Caribbean Chicken. In the Liberty Chicken, on top of the chicken tasting dry, the ratio of chicken to the other ingredients was off; they put little chicken and instead filled the taco with onions and peppers, which were not particularly flavorful. SERVICE: Normal, we placed our order at the front and our food came out very quickly and was delivered to our table. PRICE/VALUE: Better prices than Velvet Taco, and about comparable to price/quantity of food to Torchy's. We walked right up, ordered our tacos and queso and were very happy with our choice! They have a creative menu and pleasant service. The only criticism I have is that the queso was a bit thin for my liking, but the flavor was there. I highly recommend the blackened whitish taco the way it comes. Liberty Taco is one of those places that I thought would be a one and done, because they are one of several "milennial" taco places that charge you the cost of a meal for one taco. They actually come in a little bit cheaper than the top three taco restaraunts in my area. I've ordered from this location several times, since I moved to the area (December), and each time I've ordered I got the Chips and Queso, Liberty Chicken and Liberty Beef tacos, which includes grilled onions, sauteed peppers, shredded cheese and pico de gallo. They are $3.85 and $3.95, respectively. I tried the Chicken Tinga taco, which is shredded chicken, braised in roasted tomato puree and chipotle sauce, topped with carmelized onions, shredded cheese, avacado, and cilantro, but I was not a fan. The combination of the tomato puree and chipotle sauce just didn't sit well with me. The tacos that I did get were pretty good and I really wish that they were a bit bigger. The restaurant included several containers of their three sauces and the green sauce is my favorite overall. The Chips and Queso has cilantro in it and that adds to the flavor, but if you're sharing this little container tends to fast. Also, a chili con carne appetizer would be a belssing. Wink! read more

Food comes out pretty quickly after ordering- I only had to wait a few minutes and it was about 6:45 pm on a Friday. The chips and queso is a great size for sharing. The queso is good consistency and the chips aren't too thick or thin. My main criticism is I've actually been here once before not that long ago and remember the queso really blew me away but this time, it seemed less less salty, less spicy, and overall less flavorful. I felt a little disappointed because it was so great the last time. I really enjoyed the Kogi taco. The beef is very flavorful and the kimchi aoili compliments it. A great option if you want to try something different! It's a very generous serving of meat as well. The chicken tinga taco did not seem that special compared to the Kogi. It's a marinated shredded chicken taco with cheese and avocado. I added hot sauce and some of the queso to make it more interesting. The flavors of this taco aren't as unique, but it is still a generous serving of meat and I would say it's a safe choice for those feeling less adventurous. Overall, this is a decent place for tacos if you have a craving. The prices are typical for something close to the med center. I'm mainly disappointed that the queso wasn't consistent. Plenty of parking is available since this is located in a plaza with a sizable lot. read more

While running errands at Ups, I looked over to find Liberty Taco in medical city. As if anyone needs an excuse for tacos! I was pleasantly surprised by the wide variety, and ultimately decided to go with 1. Liberty Steak -Flank Steak Topped with Grilled Onions , Sautéed Pepper , Shredded Cheese , And Pico De Gallo, and 2. The Kojo- Sesame - soy marinated ribeye topped with napa Green, kimchi aioli , and toasted sesame. Both tacos were very flavorful. Prices were extremely reasonable. Liberty Taco opened up a more convenient location near the medical center and it's awesome! This was one of my first few restaurants back during the pandemic. It was really empty around lunch time and there was plenty of social distancing space. The interior is pretty spacious and clean looking, parking is convenient, and I had no problems eating there. Houston has a huge host of specialty taco restaurants and although I'm no taco connoisseur, I thought Liberty Taco was pretty good! Plenty of variety, great flavors, and very affordable. Each taco is ~$3.50-4.50 and as a small asian girl, two tacos was enough to satisfy me. The flavors I tried were: Baja Fish: this is a fried fish taco with chipotle sauce and vegetables. It's a pretty sizable piece of fish and plenty of toppings. I think the only thing is the fish could use more flavor, but they also provide hot sauces if you want to drizzle those on. Citrus Pork: this was the messiest taco! It's pulled pork with a citrus flavor topped with veggies and cheese. It was pretty good, may or may not get again. Thai Basil: I liked this taco because it was more unique than the rest. The chicken is a little crunchy and has a sweeter flavor. The only suggestion I could make is if the flavor were stronger.
