As someone who had never tried Whataburger before, this is my review. The first thing I noticed was how clean this location was. Like, really clean. The dining room was huge, the tables were spotless, and the seats were actually comfortable enough to sit and relax for a bit. Ordering was a little confusing though. They have multiple kiosks available, but for some reason only one was open for use when we visited. That created a bit of a line and made the ordering process take longer than it probably needed to. After ordering, we waited about 15 minutes for our food. We decided to keep it simple and ordered the Patty Melt with fries. The Patty Melt comes with two beef patties, Monterey Jack cheese, grilled onions, and creamy pepper sauce on toasted Texas toast. Honestly, I really enjoyed it. Everything that was advertised was actually there. The Texas toast was toasted perfectly with a nice buttery crunch on the outside while still being soft inside. It was messy in the way a good patty melt should be. I was convinced I was going to love the spicy ketchup because people talk about it all the time. It ended up being just okay for me. There was a slightly weird aftertaste that I couldn't quite put my finger on. The real star was the honey butter. I can totally see why people are obsessed with it. My foodie friend and I tried this place for the first time on a Friday morning around 11pm. We wanted to feel full before day clubbing so this was our choice for food. It's got two floors for seating though the stairs to the second floor was blocked off for the duration of our visit. Being a fast food place, interior is somewhat dull yet there's tons of seating for groups and solo dining. You place your order at one of several kiosks just opposite the front counter where staff call your name once your food is ready. You can order food from either this place or Parry's Pizza which this place seems to share space and probably a kitchen with as I saw staff making both burgers and pizza behind the counter. I got their Monterey melt burger with sweet tea and large fries for a combo meal. Each dine-in tray comes with your food along with two each of regular ketchup and spicy ketchup, which is just ketchup with jalapeno taste. The burger itself was juicy, delectable and a little above standard quality. The melt itself was really good and burger held up all right despite the slippery condiments. Fries were definitely standard; it was a good balance of salty and pairs well with either ketchup. I'm actually surprised how many people there were inside since there's a lot other places to eat around the Las Vegas Strip; it was nearly a full house on just the first floor throughout our stay. As a native Californian, I've always heard how great Whataburger was from all of my friends in Texas. This is as close as I can get! Being on the Las Vegas Strip, it would seem hard to compete against other fast food chains, foods from casino properties, and restaurants that have been around forever, however, this place was filled with people after midnight. I've been told that Whataburger is an In N Out competitor, and this experience has thoroughly convinced me that In N Out is better. Now, this is the first time I've had Whataburger so your mileage may vary. Maybe it's better in Texas? Regardless, the burger was incredibly mediocre. I always finish my burgers, but I didn't finish this one. The burger was big, but it was just kind of bland. Too much mustard, and the patty seemed to try to grilled, but it didn't have that completely grilled taste either. Cheese costs extra. Service was extremely slow, first of all. They definitely need more staff. All the kiosks were down, so everyone was in a massive line to order with one person. Their fancy and spicy ketchup is free (regular and 'spicy - jalapeno'), other sauces cost 40 cents. Fries were under-salted and not crispy. Onion rings were quite decent, actually. I took a quick look online to see what else they were known for and people recommended the patty melt. It's decent - I can see the vision with the grilled onions and thousand island-esque sauce, but the proportions were off - not enough sauce/onions. The two meat patties had decent flavor. I went to go visit this place while on a trip to Vegas back in April and I ordered a shake through the kiosk. As I was waiting for my order while talking to my friends, my name was never called and never received an order. The kiosks were broken so there was a long line for the counter and asked about my shake after standing line for 20 minutes. Scrolling through the reviews here, you would think Whataburger personally offended some people simply for not being In-N-Out. Look -- I love In-N-Out. It's a California staple and hard to beat for the price. But comparing the two is like comparing two completely different burger philosophies. During my visit in Las Vegas, I actually really enjoyed the burger. It was flavorful, juicy, and satisfying. The patty had good seasoning and the overall burger just felt hearty. The only downside is that it can lean a bit on the greasy side, but honestly that's kind of part of the Whataburger experience. Price-wise, it's definitely more expensive than In-N-Out, so if you're judging purely on value, In-N-Out will probably win every time. But if you're judging it as its own burger chain, it holds its own just fine. Bottom line: Stop comparing it to In-N-Out and just enjoy it for what it is. We went to Whataburger on the strip in a late Saturday night after Paul McCartney''s concert. This is located at the Aria/ City Center Property in front of Waldorf. Plenty of late night diners. There are few tables and shared tables. I noticed some homeless people going in and out of their bathrooms. So you order your food and they will call your name once ready. As for the chicken strips, it was tough and with thick coating, and when you checked there chicken strip was so thin so pretty much you are mostly eating the coating. When I lived in Texas I remember it as a good meal. Hubby ordered a patty melt, and it tasted not to my liking. I wonder if they changed their recipe. Ok so I been wanting to try this place and said next time I'm in Vegas I will try it, guess what I finally did! The final result is it's ok, tastes like a Wendy's burger but a bit more pricey. The hype and hope I had for it really didn't match the meal. Burger just plain, but good choice on the Brioche bun, I think it made a good difference on my burger. I've been hearing how Whataburger is supposedly as good as In N Out for years so this has been a long time coming. I'm not ashamed to say I ate here everyday for multiple days on end. It's becoming a point of pride, actually. That Patty Melt with all the fixings is something to kill for. If you've ever had an in n out burger, those last few bites with everything kinda just soaked up that sauce and that melted cheese on the wrapper...that was like that but in every bite. I'll make that 4 hour road trip just for that. But then that shake?? I love Dr Pepper, but this is the first time I've seen a Dr Pepper milkshake, much less a blackberry infused one. I'll try to describe it but to me it's 100% the best thing on that menu. It's almost like Dr Pepper notes mixed in with a really smooth chocolate and it's really to kill for. Like potentially multiple people, plus it comes in Texas portions which is always nice. No small, just medium and large. Not to mention a greaaaaat chaser. The ambience is kinda unexpected but welcome. This was on Christmas so we basically got an IMAX showing of the game for free. All in all, Whataburger was everything I thought and more. The only thing I would say is although it beats In N Out in pure flavor, cost-benefit wise it gets blown out the water. The whole combo was about $20, but a #1 at In N Out is like 12. First time trying whataburger and honestly not impressed or looking forward to next time. Thankfully this was a late night option and despite a line it moved quickly. Food didn't take that long to be ready to go either. They did have no covers for their larger style drinks out for us and a worker said they didn't have any in house at all. Probably due to being Vegas but they do have a bar with food service which was unique for a fast food spot. My wife tried the Bacon & Cheese Whataburger that was disappointing, dry and lacking much flavor compared to some other chains. I tried their Avacado Bacon Burger, with the meat still dry and overall disappointing. Avacado gave some freshness and it was a nice difference of Texas toast being used instead of a typical bun. Maybe an off visit though as the Texas toast wasn't toasted that well and was also lacking overall. The fries were really similar to McDonald's in style and taste. Nothing of note for those really, likely even preferring McDonald's fries if I had to pick. Like I said, maybe we visited on an off day or maybe we didn't order the right things. But the name would make you believe any burger is a good call. This was not the case for us. Despite no rush to do so, I would give Whataburger a future try and maybe it'll improve my thoughts. read more

It is also really clean, which is nice considering it's on the strip.
