The place was so smoky and smelly it would explain why my order was so bad. I got a whataburger classic burger and when I bit into it, all I could taste was mustard and ketchup. I lifted the bun and there was a pool of each and more condiments than meat. When I took it back in and asked the manager if that was normal she wouldn't answer and would only offer to remake it. So I ordered that one plain and added the condiments myself but the burger still didn't taste like I remember when visiting Texas. So sad to see them go so far downhill. A week later we had an rv camper pull in next to us and say the same quality issues with the whataburger in Sugarland. They two said that was their last visit.

Prices are a little higher than your typical food chain but the portions are larger. The restaurant is large and we found good seating. They also have high chairs available. They must just stick whatever is in hand in a bag and gamble that people won't look, or won't cone inside and complain. You'd think that just plain old incompetence would on,y screw up one order in four or five. Second, you can order the very same order three or four times in a row, and the cost will vary every time. It's like you order and the cash register spits out a random number between $25 and $32. Finally, and worst of all, they are slower than Xmas. It's like they're walking around in molasses back there. The young lady said she couldn't do that. She would have to get the manager, so she closed the window and I sat another 10 minutes waiting, finally I waved at the young lady and she came back to the window. I said I would like to speak to the manager, she said the manager was there but was down the road and on the way. I waited another 15 minutes. No one showed up, they couldn't give me a refund I never received a receipt. I was at the window at told the young lady I would cancel the transaction on Monday morning. I was not in the best of spirits and had not been eating much. I skipped breakfast this morning and decided to do a late lunch at Chicken Express to boost my spirits. I stopped around 2:30pm. The line was about 4 cars deep. The person who took my order at the speaker was the typical Chicken Express friendly and made sure I got everything ordered correctly. Things changed when I pulled up the window. When I get there Christina opens the window and just stares at me. After about 5 seconds of us simply looking at one another, I finally say "Hello. How are you?" since she wasn't. She says "Hi. You total is..." I ask her if they have tap to pay. She says "no" flatly. I say "Oh ok." and had her my card to pay. She takes it and after the transaction hands it back. She gets the food and hands it to me. No here you, thank you, have a great day, nothing. No soft customer service skills at all. While I understand this is not standard anymore and a reflection of company values and standards, it truly disappointing. I emailed the location about the experience and apparently it is not worth a response. Definitely disappointing. Definitely feel this location is a major no go. Might as well go to Golden Chick next door. Same thing but better service.

Once we got back to our hotel room, we tried everything. The mashed potatoes, green beans, and rolls were standard. The fried chicken, though, was easily the star of the show. The exterior was crunchy and the meat was juicy and moist. Plenty of flavor. For a family of three, we could not finish all of the food. All in all, considering the value and the tastiness of the chicken, I believe that this was a phenomenal value!

This one now is much better! It is in a different location than the last....now in the Ornealas student center. More employees, larger menu, nicer location and an official look to the place. They have their own seating too. It can be a bit of a wait if you come at the wrong time.. The parking is far away and a good hike up a hill to get there.....probably a quarter of a mile. The food is Chick-Fil-A though and that quarter mile walk is a lot shorter than the drive to the one by Sam's in Longview!!! I don't think they honor any points or special offers though.
