Once again, you have a restaurant location that is not being managed. I placed my mobile order with a pick up time of 7:25 to 7:30 AM. I arrived at 7:27 AM. After waiting in the car for eight minutes, I decided to go inside to check on my order. When I walked in the employee asked me my name and told me that my order is being held up because and he paused and walked off. They were quite a few other customers waiting, and there was a lot of commotion in the back kitchen area. Employees were cursing, laughing and walking around. After a few minutes the employee brought me a cold cup of coffee. When I told him to hold on and wait, he kept walking. Another employee asked me if he could help. I told him the coffee was cold. He told me they always do this. At that point I canceled my order. I then called the one 800 number to officially cancel my order. This is really sad that a location is allowed to operate like this without any repercussions. Customers do not have 20 minutes to waste when traveling. Whataburger, please do better. read more

We stopped in on our drive home from New Orleans. It was just after 6pm, so we were surprised there were so few people in the restaurant. We were told the crowd would hit within the hour. He wasn't wrong. By the time we left, it was starting to get crowded! The service was impeccable. So friendly and polite. The food was so tasty and fresh. Cooked while we waited. We got the Bacon & Cheese Whataburger with Onion Rings and a chocolate shake. My tastebuds were delighted, so I couldn't help eating until I was bursting! The restaurant was so clean. Loved sitting at a freshly cleaned table! This was a fantastic option to stop on our long drive home. Next time we come back through the area, we will definitely stop at this Whataburger! read more

Great amount of parking, courteous people and quick, tasty freshly made food! Worth every penny! This will be short and sweet since we've been on the road since yesterday non-stop. I've never been to a Whataburger so this is my first experience. We were so exhausted from driving and couldn't find anything open on a Sunday night/wee hrs on a Labor Day Monday morning until we spotted a lone Whataburger that was actually open! Oh joy! Since my hubby is an OTR truck driver, he knew exactly what he wanted immediately. He ordered a BLT with a medium fries. I ordered the first thing I saw which was a new burger they were promoting for a limited time...the southern bacon burger. It actually had cabbage slaw, pickles, onions and a tangy sauce on it. It has to be one of the best things I'd taken a bite of in weeks!! If you get a chance to try it, do yourself the favor of sinking your teeth into this amazing burger! I made my husband try it just because I couldn't believe the dancing my taste buds were doing! I thought, maybe I'm crazy...I ordered onion rings with it and Omg...*insert chef kiss here* fabulous!! If I weren't so exhausted, I probably would've remembered to take pictures. Regardless, I've snap shotted the menu picture of it. And yes, that's exactly what I received. There used to be a place in Newberry that was tops in my opinion called the Ranch Burger and they actually put slaw on every burger unless you requested them not to. It was standard. The first time I went, I didn't know that and now I'm glad I didn't know. When I was done whining about the slaw on my burger and actually took a bite...that sold it for me. That was the best danged burger I'd ever had as of that day. That restaurant unfortunately isn't there anymore, but I'm still in love with slaw on hot dogs and especially burgers. You've got to try it to believe it! This place we stopped at in our way home to Florida from Arkansas was prompt, served THE ENTIRE MENU (24 hours a day!!! What??!!), including our stop at 3am-ish in the morning -- to my delight, as we had skipped dinner and really weren't in the mood for breakfast -- especially me, since I'm allergic to eggs and most everything on ANYONE'S breakfast menu had either butter or eggs on it (I'm allergic to milk too...butter starts the IBS up quickly), I was beyond happy to get something for dinner. There may have been other cars in line, but they moved pretty quickly. The person taking the order was very professional, agreeable and surprisingly helpful and understood exactly what we said without yelling "wha-a-a-tttt!!????" several times at us. I know in articulate, in fact I'm certain of it. Why people cannot understand someone who articulates clearly it's beyond me. We got our freshly made food not long after ordering and there was much crunching, munching and moaning emanating from our vehicle for the next 10 minutes or more. For that one stop alone, they get one of my highest recommendations. Not only that, but guess what? Their ketchup doesn't come in those squirty everywhere lil packets....no, we got ketchup on lil dipping sauce containers and that is SOOOOO much easier!! read more

First time stopping in to the Tuscaloosa Whataburger location. Since this is a chain, I have to assume the food quality is on par with the other Whataburger locations (we're still waiting on our order). That being said, I have to comment on the friendliness and general attitude of the staff. Well, it sucks! My wife and I walked in and waited for a few minutes for someone to actually come to the register; and, when the young lady did, she just stared at me awkwardly. Finally I said "hello", no response, and proceeded to order. Maybe it's just me, but I would like to think there would be some pep or excitement from the staff about being in their restaurant. Otherwise, why am I coming here? But, I also know we're all people and sometimes we have bad days. I'll have to try them again in the future and see if this was a one time occurrence or a pattern. They always act like your bothering them to order here. I work nearby so I stop here often. The food is good, that's the only reason I come. They take FOREVER for everything. It could be a drink and a side of fries but they will still ask you to move up past the window and bring it out 5 minutes later cold. I have never gone through the line in less than 15 minutes. What ya burger..... hmmmm...... we'll we went there after church with a friend and one of us looked at our burger and say " whattaburger"! They didn't have the mushroom burger that I had gotten a couple of times at a different location. They do t have that one anymore. So I got a bacon burger combo and the hubs and his friend got the jalapeño burger combo. Both burgers were the same- one had kale thrown on it and the other had bacon. Both were equally as cold. Both had meat that felt room temperature. Good grief. The fries were good. Did you know that if you want ranch dip to dip the friend in that it costs like 45 cents? Take your own. The location on Courtney Drive in Tuscaloosa Alabama had the poorest service I have ever seen. I waited for five minutes without anyone coming out to take my order. So I went back in the kitchen and when I asked the guy if the front was open, He looked at me like what are you doing here. Whataburger hamburgers are great, never disappoint. This location is usually very good and are very clean and organized inside and the employees are somewhat friendly. They just do not think or follow through. They have two lanes, outside lane not busy so I make my order, she tells me to pull to the second window. I stayed in the outside lane, pulled up to the painted line at adjacent to the second window. Set there watching the inside lane go through. Finally a guy walks out asked me my name, said he did not know how much my order was. Set there a while, a girl comes out asked what I ordered. I told her, the guy could hear at the window and yelled he found it. I told the girl what and how many ketchups and I needed sweetener for my unsweet tea. Finally got my bag and pulled off. I had two orders, gave me one pack regular and one pack spicy ketchup, no sweetener. REALLY, I asked for two of each and three sweeteners?? Today is the 3rd time I've come to this location in the morning and when they hand you your food and your change they quickly say "sorry we don't have change" and close the window. Then the lady was surprised when I gave her 8 cents and told her, "Now you can give me my dollar back!" They are making a fucking killing screwing people out of money. I didn't accidentally come here 3 times and be told this by chance! Someone needs to speak to management! Because if YOU run out of change, you don't screw the customer out of their change.... He was incredibly friendly and helpful with our family of seven. He delivered our food to the table, which was delicious, and then preceded to help clear it once we were finished. We sat in the drive thru for over 20 minutes and watched them take everyone else's order in the other lane after the car in front of us ordered. So we moved to the other lane and same thing happened. Look, I've never been to a Whataburger, and after trying this one, I don't see what all the excitement is about. They're still jam-packed at all hours -- at 2:45pm on a Saturday, the drive-thru was backed up, there was a decent line at the counter, and we luckily snagged one of the last available tables. Service at the counter was, well, serviceable. They took our order, but we barely got a "Hi" out of the cashier, and absolutely no help with the menu (and maybe my eyesight is bad, but man the print on the menu board is small!). She automatically put in the meal with fries and a drink, which was $7.59 for a bacon cheeseburger, plus $0.35 to switch to onion rings. The husband got a triple, and making it a bacon cheeseburger was $1.20 extra for the bacon and $1.50 extra for the cheese. He didn't want the meal, so a medium drink (and those are some big mediums!) added another $2.04. It was a decent wait for our food, though they were quite busy and the kitchen was hopping. However, it just wasn't worth the wait. My mom never let me eat McDonald's as a kid, so I can't say how Whataburger compares to them, but I got a pretty sad, flat burger that had zero flavor. Granted, I'd asked for it plain, without the mustard, lettuce, tomato, and onions that they normally add -- and don't get me started on having to specify what I DON'T want on my food.... My onion rings were hot, as were the husband's fries, but again, in desperate need of salt. The husband's burger was fine, although they didn't add his jalapenos (which we were charged another $0.50 for). They had someone walking around wiping tables, so the dining room wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been. A nice touch was that when they bring out your food, they have a tray with them of napkins, straws, ketchup, etc. so you can get anything you might have forgotten. Overall, however, for a $22 lunch, this was extremely underwhelming. Much better burgers and fries can be had in Tuscaloosa at similar price points, so I won't ever bother coming back to Whataburger. read more

Looks like Whataburger is trying hard to reach the bottom with the likes of their fast food colleagues. I sometimes go here to pick something up for lunch in the morning. Going through the drive thru is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get no matter what you order. You may get more than what you order, or most likely get something you can't even eat. On my last visit, I got a hamburger with NO patty. Even McDonald's can put a patty on the bun. read more

Excellent service from Jabrae. He was kind, empathetic, able to upsell me to double patty, extra cheese and upsize on meal. He was so nice and helpful. As a professional chef very rarely as I impressed especially in fast food. He helped other people and was focused on pleasing and making sure lobby was clean and orderly. You need more people like him. Been extra hard to find good people in Tuscaloosa Alabama you got a gem. I'm glad he left Pizza Hut to work for you and he deserves the best from you. All these bad reviews. People suck. They don't know how to review a location. Stopped in yesterday on a business trip for my favorite, #1 no onions. Normally only able get Whataburger when I'm working in Texas so this was a real treat to find a Whataburger in Alabama. When I walked in the restaurant today on my way back to Louisiana, Jabrae looked up from the registers and recognized me and welcomed me back! Asked me how my trip was and took my order. After my meal was delivered he stopped by to see if there was anything else he could do while he was making sure the tables were clean. Talk about making me feel welcome and exceeding my expectations of what a fast food restaurant is! Jabrae is a great asset to your team, great burgers and fries, super clean restaurant!
