We stopped in on our drive home from New Orleans. It was just after 6pm, so we were surprised there were so few people in the restaurant. We were told the crowd would hit within the hour. He wasn't wrong. By the time we left, it was starting to get crowded! The service was impeccable. So friendly and polite. The food was so tasty and fresh. Cooked while we waited. We got the Bacon & Cheese Whataburger with Onion Rings and a chocolate shake. My tastebuds were delighted, so I couldn't help eating until I was bursting! The restaurant was so clean. Loved sitting at a freshly cleaned table! This was a fantastic option to stop on our long drive home. Next time we come back through the area, we will definitely stop at this Whataburger!

Great amount of parking, courteous people and quick, tasty freshly made food! Worth every penny! This will be short and sweet since we've been on the road since yesterday non-stop. I've never been to a Whataburger so this is my first experience. We were so exhausted from driving and couldn't find anything open on a Sunday night/wee hrs on a Labor Day Monday morning until we spotted a lone Whataburger that was actually open! Oh joy! Since my hubby is an OTR truck driver, he knew exactly what he wanted immediately. He ordered a BLT with a medium fries. I ordered the first thing I saw which was a new burger they were promoting for a limited time...the southern bacon burger. It actually had cabbage slaw, pickles, onions and a tangy sauce on it. It has to be one of the best things I'd taken a bite of in weeks!! If you get a chance to try it, do yourself the favor of sinking your teeth into this amazing burger! I made my husband try it just because I couldn't believe the dancing my taste buds were doing! I thought, maybe I'm crazy...I ordered onion rings with it and Omg...*insert chef kiss here* fabulous!! If I weren't so exhausted, I probably would've remembered to take pictures. Regardless, I've snap shotted the menu picture of it. And yes, that's exactly what I received. There used to be a place in Newberry that was tops in my opinion called the Ranch Burger and they actually put slaw on every burger unless you requested them not to. It was standard. The first time I went, I didn't know that and now I'm glad I didn't know. When I was done whining about the slaw on my burger and actually took a bite...that sold it for me. That was the best danged burger I'd ever had as of that day. That restaurant unfortunately isn't there anymore, but I'm still in love with slaw on hot dogs and especially burgers. You've got to try it to believe it! This place we stopped at in our way home to Florida from Arkansas was prompt, served THE ENTIRE MENU (24 hours a day!!! What??!!), including our stop at 3am-ish in the morning -- to my delight, as we had skipped dinner and really weren't in the mood for breakfast -- especially me, since I'm allergic to eggs and most everything on ANYONE'S breakfast menu had either butter or eggs on it (I'm allergic to milk too...butter starts the IBS up quickly), I was beyond happy to get something for dinner. There may have been other cars in line, but they moved pretty quickly. The person taking the order was very professional, agreeable and surprisingly helpful and understood exactly what we said without yelling "wha-a-a-tttt!!????" several times at us. I know in articulate, in fact I'm certain of it. Why people cannot understand someone who articulates clearly it's beyond me. We got our freshly made food not long after ordering and there was much crunching, munching and moaning emanating from our vehicle for the next 10 minutes or more. For that one stop alone, they get one of my highest recommendations. Not only that, but guess what? Their ketchup doesn't come in those squirty everywhere lil packets....no, we got ketchup on lil dipping sauce containers and that is SOOOOO much easier!!

First time stopping in to the Tuscaloosa Whataburger location. Since this is a chain, I have to assume the food quality is on par with the other Whataburger locations (we're still waiting on our order). That being said, I have to comment on the friendliness and general attitude of the staff. Well, it sucks! My wife and I walked in and waited for a few minutes for someone to actually come to the register; and, when the young lady did, she just stared at me awkwardly. Finally I said "hello", no response, and proceeded to order. Maybe it's just me, but I would like to think there would be some pep or excitement from the staff about being in their restaurant. Otherwise, why am I coming here? But, I also know we're all people and sometimes we have bad days. I'll have to try them again in the future and see if this was a one time occurrence or a pattern. Till next time... Update - the young lady who brought the food out gets it! Smiles and excitement. So, just a onetime thing. Enjoy!

I had to return to have a double burger remade due to its saturation in mustard. The drive-thru line was ridiculous but it moved fairly fast

If you know downtown Tuscaloosa, you know getting into Urban Bar & Kitchen usually requires…read morepatience--and a willingness to stand around waiting for the doors to open. But spring break week flipped the script in the best way possible. Tonight, my wife and I met up with some good friends for a pre-retirement dinner, and with the college crowd scattered to the beaches, downtown felt like it belonged to us "seasoned locals" again. No lines, no crowds--just a quick call ahead and we were seated within minutes. That alone felt like a win. We started things off with the fried green tomatoes--a true Southern delicacy and, let's be honest, acid reflux's favorite dance partner. Worth it? Absolutely. These were hot, crispy, and full of flavor. The kind of dish that would make Grandma nod in approval. No shortcuts, just done right. For the entrée, I went with the UBK Pasta--blackened chicken, sausage, and shrimp tossed with corkscrew pasta probably crafted in a cast iron skillet. It came out hot and packed with flavor, carrying just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting without overwhelming the dish. Exactly how I like it. My wife stuck with a proven winner: the shrimp & grits. She's had it before, and once again, it delivered. Consistency matters, and this dish continues to hit the mark every time. Now, not everything was quite as smooth. Our waitress wasn't exactly channeling that warm Southern hospitality you hope for. Let's just say she wasn't "Miss Dolly" serving smiles with a side of charm. The service leaned a bit on the impatient side--subtle (and not-so-subtle) hints that our time at the table was up, including clearing drinks before we were even finished. At one point I joked about going to the restroom but worried I might come back to find my chair gone. Still, when the food is this good, it carries the experience. Urban Bar & Kitchen continues to deliver where it matters most--on the plate. The atmosphere was relaxed thanks to spring break timing, the food was as strong as ever, and the company made it even better. As for the service... maybe she was just ready for her own spring break reunion. Happens to the best of us. Final takeaway: Go for the food--it's consistently excellent. And if you can catch a quieter night like this one, even better.

The wait for our party of 5 wasn't too long and we were seated in a big booth near the bar. Very nice decor, classy but comfortable. All of the servers and staff were super friendly and offered a nice selection of local brews and tasty margaritas. Several of us had the redfish special which was just outstanding! All in all, and outstanding experience. Definitely a repeater for us when next we're in town.

Wife wanted a salad and potato skins so went with the wedge which came chopped so more of a chopped salad than a wedge and it was fine. Nothing spectacular. Who potato skins were reminiscent of some frozen ones you heat in the oven. Didn't seem fresh at all. The bacon wasn't that great really and the cheeses was cheese. All in all edible but not enjoyable. I went with the bacon wrapped meatloaf with mashed potatoes with gravy and a side of Mac and cheese. I'll start with the Mac. It was horrible. Sorry don't mean to be a downer but wasn't good at all. The mashed and gravy a big nope. The potatoes weren't all that good. It was like eating a plat of spackle. And the gravy was horrendous. Made bad potato's worse. The meatloaf was ok. Kind of like cafeteria meatloaf. I did eat it but wasn't thrilled. Again not a fan of that bacon so ditched that after one bite. Personally I would not go back and wife agreed. Maybe we got the wrong items but nothing was good.

The atmosphere is cute - the menu is limited (1 burger, 3 sandwiches, 2 or 3 flatbreads and 2 salads). We ordered: 1 - the double cheeseburger, boring. Lots of meet but not much in the way of toppings. The pickle slice was nice. 2 - BLT, boring. Needs a sauce, even mayo. Would love to see palmetto cheese or avocado or cheddar. Spring mix is the wrong choice in lettuce as well. It turns into mush with the tomato. Nothing memorable. 3 - The Yardhouse, awkward. It was hard to eat with large chicken "cubes" and lots of white bbq sauce. Either keeping the chicken whole or using a shredded chicken would be better. 4 - Fries. 1 order would have been plenty to share among 3 people. They were the best part of the meal and came with a fry sauce. Another strike is that they don't brew their own tea. We're in the Deep South... some days the best thing we've got is fresh brewed tea at every turn. This was a nope... but on top of that the carbonation was "off" in the soda machine too. Good thing drinks are only $2.
