Came here for dinner after my daughters dance class. Food was great and service went above and beyond. Ordered my daughter the grilled cheese and my son (5 year old) chicken, because that's what HE WANTED when I ordered. Got our food and he started saying he wanted a grilled cheese like his "sissy". I am from Alabama but since moving to North Carolina, my husband and I always try to plan our road trip stops for whataburger. We have stopped at this location several times and always had great service but today our service was absolutely exceptional. Kennan took our order and he was the politest most respectful young man I have encountered in a long time. Our orders were perfect and came out fast. He was so helpful. We stopped for breakfast while on a road trip. This location is spotlessly clean and the staff is very helpful and service oriented. My son mentioned he needed a spoon for grits and an employee eating her breakfast overheard him. She got up and got him one immediately. This Whataburger is hands down the best we have experienced. And we lived in Texas for 13 years. The food was superior, fresh and hot. No skimping on the sausage in the biscuits and gravy, lol. Corporate, take notice because all locations should offer the quality food and service that this Whataburger gives it's customers. I have to say how much I love being in Alabama! I have been in Tuscaloosa since December after a tree fell on our house out here. One of my daily stops is to the Whataburger for a drink since it is right by my house here. Everyone here is always so sweet and friendly. We chat briefly and they never fail to smile. Well yesterday things changed that reaffirmed my first statement and solidified my resolve to move to the South permanently. My husband is still back in CA so that is hard enough for us to be apart for so long. On top of dealing with normal stresses from construction and the distance from him, we found out that his job was eliminated. I feel like I am at my limit and have been crying off and on for several days. When I went in to Whataburger yesterday I was having an exceptionally emotional day and just wanted a biscuit and drink. I dried my face and tried my best to look like the normally happy person I usually am when I walked in. The manager on duty complimented me on my dress as she always does but told me that biscuits are only served from 11p-11a. At the same time, Sinitra (?) the cashier asked why I was crying. That started the waterworks again! The manager must have thought I was really upset about not getting the biscuit and offered to turn on the oven and make me a biscuit. lol. I told her please not to do that, it wasn't about the biscuit. Sinitra (?) came around the counter, hugged me and said a prayer of comfort for me. I can't tell you how much that meant to me. I suppose some people could take issue with it due to religious freedom but I see nothing wrong with offering people comfort no matter what your beliefs are. I so appreciated the prayer and I truly believe that this job loss is just His way of making our desire to move out here a reality. Thank you Sinitra (?) for your compassion and prayer.I will be back today, between 11p and 11a for my drink...AND BISCUIT! Since they have opened here, my favorite is Skyland! Especially when Jabrae is on shift. Not many places have their servers or managers checking to see if you are satisfied with the service. It's okay. We just got one in Tuscaloosa and the line was ridiculous for weeks. We've went twice and don't see what the hype was, the French fries suck, they're like cardboard, and the hamburgers taste like onions if that makes sense. The service isn't bad, but I will say they were a lot faster when they first opened, now service is slow and it takes 20 minutes to go through the drive through for a cinnamon roll. Honestly Wendy's has way better hamburgers. Just go to Wendy's. read more

What has happened to Whataburger!!! This first opened with great service, lots of Corp help so that is not a surprise. Then it settled in and has continued downhill. Had a couple of problems with service dinning in but figured they were working the bugs out but enough is enough!! Last three times, this morning being one, they are either super short staffed, poorly train on duty or they have accepted this failure as normal. We usually dine in so haven't been so negative on the drive through. Chic a fla across the street never lets you down and Milos across the street has been much better. read more

I come from whataburgers home town. I'm also very familiar with their corporate mantra... so when I saw one coming to Tuscaloosa I was excited. Tragically this location as lost sight of what made WB such a strong brand in a highly competitive market. I can only hope they realize their failures and begin to take action. Went to Whataburger for the first time on 12/17/19 and would say this is the best experience I had at a fast food restaurant in awhile. I told Jabrae, the cashier, it was my first time there, and he patiently told me what is on the menu and what he recommended. The server that brought our food to us was extremely nice. I have been to Whataburger on skyland 5-6 times in the last month, and my average visit takes half an hour. Tonight, I was the 4th car in line and did not move for 20 minutes. My drink is watered down and my fries are microwaved. Sadly, this is not an unusual experience at this location. The burgers are normally good, but their service in the drive thru is terrible. It may take an extra couple of minutes to get to the one on McFarland, but you would get home before you got your food at Skyland. Fire everyone and re-hire. read more
