If you're like me and you love Marugame Monzo's carbonara udon but don't want to make the drive to LA only to wait a long time to get a seat, Whealthy is the best alternative. They have a cream pasta that comes with mushroom, chicken, bacon, onion, and spaghetti. I always sub the spaghetti for the udon noodles and let me tell you, with their cream sauce and udon noodles it's quite similar to the carbonara udon at MM. Of course if you want those fresh hand pulled udon noodles, MM is the way to go, but if you want a cheap alternative without making that drive head over to Whealthy. This meal is my go to always so I've got a bias, but my bf likes to try the different noodle dishes they have or just makes his own and it's always been good. It's basically a build your own bowl Mongolian bbq if you don't order one of their dishes and it's also the closest Mongolian type spot to where we live, which is why we love it so much. I guess the something to be mindful of is that it's pretty heavy. Like I always have a food coma afterwards and that's just from eating half my plate! My only actual complaint is I wish they offered the cream sauce for byob! You can only get it if you order the cream pasta dish. I was given a huge estimated window of 20 minutes for when my food would be ready and I wasn't given any sort of update even when the window started. So I called the restaurant directly and they said my order was already ready, so I got there ASAP. Looks like assembly line ordering, kinda like Chipotle. You pay at the register and then there's indoor seating or outside shared seating between several restaurants. I got the egg ram don, which is a spaghetti dish with pork, shrimp, and black bean sauce. It was pretty spicy, but good! What was supposed to be a sunny side up egg was definitely an over hard egg - not ideal. Also, they only gave us one fork for two dishes that we ordered. My coworker and I discovered Whealthy looking for places to eat and we both love noodles. The first time we had it we pre-ordered for pick up not realizing you can build your own bowl. The next time we went, we built our bowl & its awesome! You can pick between and bowl or cup, depending on your hunger level or if you want leftovers for later. You first pick your noodle; udon, glass, egg, spaghetti. Then you start with veggies & the fun stuff! I always stack on the brocolli, jalapeño, garlic, etc. Then you pick your protein. For the bowl it's 2 otherwise extra charge & for a cup it's 1 otherwise extra. You can pick tofu, beef, chicken, pork. Then the fun sauces! I always get volcano spicy cause I LOVE spicy!! And it is spicy but I still get side of hot sauce! LOL Also good to know is that once you build your bowl or cup, it'll take about 5-10 mins for them to cook it depending how busy they are. We go early so we've never had to wait very long but we usually have time to walk over to Target to peruse their $1 section quickly & back. I like the set up too. You choose bowl or cup as the size/amount you want. They give you a bowl and tongs. You choose your carb (noodle, rice etc), the veggies, and then tell the guy what type of protein you want. The bowl comes with 2 portions. I got the spicy beef and kbbq beef. Then you pick your sauces and they cook it all together on a rotating drum. Everything cooks and mixes eventually. Came out to 19 bucks after tip. Well worth it. The foods we chose were surprisingly excellent. The ingredients were fresh and very tasty. My wife had a seafood pasta and I chose a creamy pasta. The portions were pretty big and we both requested to go box to take our leftovers. The seafood had two big shrimps and a lot of chopped seafoods and smaller shrimps and creamy pasta had a lot of meats including soft bacons. After we ate I didn't feel any aftertaste and felt great after 2 hours. Great selection of soft drinks and even bathroom was clean.
