Always friendly. Always clean . Always delicious. Love their Philadelphia roll. Also my husband loves fried chicken ramen.

Eel and Salmon Bento Set/ 鳗鱼和三文鱼组合便当 was absolutely delicious! Nice juicy and flavorful

What a truly hidden gem in a strip mall in Santa Ana next to the post office! I've been passing this spot when I come and visit my friends snd today finally gave it a chance! Definitely was not disappointed and the workers, I think a husband and wife mom and pop situ, were the nicest ever! Will definitely be making a return and eating my way around the menu!

King eel Bento Box with Fish sticks!

This place looks like it's ran by a mom and pop that seem like really passionate business owners. The restaurant is located in a strip mall thats sort of in the ghetto. Me and my sister with my nephew decided to take a chance! We walk in but sadly the place isn't really kid accommodating because the place only has high tables. So definitely not a place to bring young kids or 2 year olds because they definitely won't sit and keep still lol. Kind of left me disappointed but I ordered from the table using the QR code and waited for my food. I got the king eel bento box with fish sticks. I received my food and it looked delicious but did it taste delicious?... eh it was okay. The fish sticks tasted kind of like the frozen ones you get at the grocery store lol. The eel pieces were good but were a bit fatty. The salad was delicious though! Overall I paid $18 for the meal and have to say it was okay at best. I think what really sucked was they had no low tables to accommodate my nephew and other than that the food was okay. I would say look elsewhere for your sushi fix but if you are in the area, support mom and pop businesses like this place!

I saw a reel in Instagram to come check this place out! Came from Riverside and sad to say this is NOT sushi!!!!! Their recipes are not Original. They had extra seasonings and dressings and none of their menu items had what is in their roll to know what's in it. The second you walk in there's a strange smell. Their seating/chairs are so uncomfortable! But the cherry on top of out night was we saw they add mustard to a roll and we said oh no thank you in the mustard and the owner/husband huffed and puffed and agreed that canceling that order would be easier but was YELLING at his wife/server and being total disrespectful and made me feel even more uncomfortable I couldn't get out of there sooner!! HORRIBLE ATTITUDES, FOOD, and CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Every time I come to Irvine, I will go here to eat here. The ingredients are fresh, the taste is delicious, and the boss is very nice.

egg that comes with salmon bento box

hidden gem is what another reviewer said and i agree. it's in a little plaza and should probably be more busy because the food is good. we came here because the menu had a wide offering, to satisfy any japanese craving. the ramen was better than some specifically ramen only spots. the sashimi salmon bento was so good and fresh. i wish i took a picture of the box. it came with this egg that had baked crab meat that was one of the best things i've had. on top of the delicious food, it was all reasonably priced and the service was great. i'm assuming she was the owner but she was really nice to my girls.

10pc nigiri

What the heck?! This place is so humble and unassuming. I believe someone wrote in their review "hidden gem", I couldn't agree more! If I didn't just open up my shop across the street I would never have known about this place. It looks like they have a decent offering, but I had to go with the basics and if they pass, then I'll explore the rest of their menu. So I got the 10pc nigiri and I was shocked that it was GOOD. The fish tasted fresh and the rice was correct in vinegar ratio and temperature. It wasn't fancy and that's why I loved it, especially because I don't want to pay for the fancy price points. Haha. I'm hooked and they just gained "a regular". 10/10 recommend.

My party of 4 each opted for the Omakaze and Akira happily convinced me to get the sake flight. The 9 course Omakaze was the star of the dinner, though the sake flight and the miso braised beef tongue were also a stand out. Chef Makoto had new and different seasonal dishes prepared for us this time, and it was nice that their Ikura Bowl remained a staple on the omakze set. Every dish course was a stunner, but the halibut, chutoro, yellowtail, and amberjack were standouts for me. As last time, the ambiance was quiet as the restaurant is on the smaller side. I've sat at the bar every time so I can't say as how noisy it would be sitting at a table. Making a reservation is highly encouraged but drop ins are welcome. Spicy tuna crispy rice: other than our favorite sushi place that sadly closed, this one was the best we've ever had. The crispy rice patty is fairly flat, which is way better and offers far superior crunch than the thick ones. "New style" salmon sashimi with white truffle: delightful. Salmon nigiri: we didn't think it could be this much better than other places. But it was. Seared escolar: I hadn't seen this on a menu in years and got really excited. It was just as incredible as I remembered. Absolutely amazing. Nevada Roll and Red Crunchy Roll: excellent. Perfect tempura flakes and perfect eel sauce. I've been to a lot of sushi restaurants over the years, and this place easily ranks in my Top 3. Every piece was exceptionally fresh, beautifully prepared, and absolutely delicious. I have to admit, I'm usually not a fan of tuna. But the moment I tasted the tuna here, I thought, "Have I been eating fake tuna all my life?" It was that good--clean, rich, buttery, and unlike anything I've had before. Another pleasant surprise was the California roll. I've eaten countless California rolls, but this was the first time I had one made with real crab instead of imitation crab. The difference was incredible, and I was genuinely impressed. The restaurant itself is stunning. The interior design is elegant and thoughtfully done. What I initially thought was wallpaper turned out to be artwork by a renowned art director, which made me appreciate the space even more. And the fish-shaped light fixtures hanging from the ceiling are absolutely beautiful. Finding a truly outstanding sushi restaurant that I can keep coming back to is rare, and I'm so happy I found this place. This is the kind of sushi spot that turns first-time visitors into regulars. Highly recommended!

The food still tastes just as good as before. They've changed the menu slightly but my go-to rolls are still there. The waitress was very helpful in introducing us to the new ordering system, and we worked out the kinks pretty quickly. We came in at around 2pm on a Friday, so ordering was quick and the food came out just as fast. I saw some people coming in wanting to order a la carte, but the waitress said they weren't able to do that at the moment. I know this might be a rough transition to a new system so I hope people will give them a chance to figure it out. Overall, the food is still great and I'm happy I can try some of their sides I've been wanting to try, but now it comes with all the rolls that I can double and triple order! I'm sure their new ordering system will be streamlined over time and I hope their AYCE transition will be a successful one.

We decided to try a new AYCE sushi spot instead of heading to one of our usuals on Friday evening…read more We saw that Tori Tori had a new AYCE menu and the pictures looked great. We were immediately greeted upon arrival, and were explained the menu. They are currently on a new, all you can eat only, menu with a fixed price. The hostess explained the ordering process very deeply. If anything, it was almost a little overwhelming, but they were helpful. There are certain menu items (premium items and hotpot) that you need to order through your waiter while you order the rest on the app. At first, it was a little difficult, and we also had some errors in our online ordering table, but we got it mostly sorted out. The menu has a fairly good selection of nigiri and rolls. There is a solid selection of appetizers as well. The menu offers the premium sashimi with a limit of 3 pcs per person. At the time, they also had hotpot dishes included in the menu. As far as AYCE sushi goes, the quality of the fish at Tori Tori was almost all fantastic. The yellowtail and salmon were some of the best I've had at an all you can eat restaurant. The tuna was ok, a little chewy, except for the bluefin sashimi which was great. As for the fried foods, if that's something you like to order at AYCE sushi, I'd keep it limited. It's all fresh and fairly well executed, but it felt like their oil might have been a little bit old or they were frying on too low of a temperature. All of our fried food were quite dark, oily, and had a bit of a fryer oil flavor. That being said, it was all still enjoyable. We only got one roll, which was a dynamite scallop type roll. The roll was ok, felt like it had a bit too much crab which tends to be a common thread at AYCE places. Our one gripe with it was that they seemed to toast/torch the whole roll rather than just the top if that makes sense. It was kind of hot throughout which made for a weird eating experience. But also the rolls are all mostly 4 pieces which is great for being able to try them without filling up. The hotpot was a surprising thing to have on the menu, but at the end of the meal we decided to split one. It was actually quite good. It was nice to have a warm and fresh cooked dish to round off the meal of raw fish and fried apps. I think Tori Tori is definitely a great option for AYCE sushi in Orange. Clearly they are still in the beginnings of implementing this menu and there are a few things that need to be sorted out/streamlined. I don't think the ordering system, especially with how much explanation it requires, is sustainable. Even the menu looked like it needed some refinement. Some things were missing pictures and didn't match the paper menu. They also didn't offer miso soup in any capacity which felt weird for a sushi restaurant (and I know they had it on the menu before implementing the AYCE). Besides any small road bumps, I think the flavor trumps all of that. I'll definitely be back sometime for AYCE sushi in the future.

The staff said another location about 6 minutes away also offered AYCE, so we decided to drive there. It was confusing , this should be more clarified correctly online on what location is À la cate and AYCE. This was around 8:45- 9 pm on a weekday. Our party was 8 people, and when we arrived, we were squeezed into a booth with a chair at the end, which made it very uncomfortable especially since one of our family members is a bigger guy. Staff didn't really help with the seating situation. To make things worse, the young male staff member assisting with messy spiked hair wasn't very helpful with ordering instructions. He told us we had to fill out a paper, but we couldn't find the correct sheet for sashimi options. When we asked for clarification, he just repeated that it was the only this paper ..which made ordering confusing. It honestly felt like he didn't want us to order a lot because they were closing . We eventually asked another server for help, who was much more helpful and explained everything clearly and actually guided us through the ordering process. We even requested a different server after that, so she took over and made things easier for us. Unfortunately, the sushi itself was also disappointing. The portions were inconsistent some tuna pieces had a dime sized amount of rice, and others had none at all. Overall, the seafood quality felt low compared to other places I've tried. I understand it was late and they may have been rushing, but between the service, confusion, and food quality, I don't think I'll be returning!

We were seated promptly, my friend took on the obligation of explaining me how it all worked. The first issue I ran into was that the service in the shopping center is notoriously slow, and unfortunately the restaurant didn't offer any WiFi for customers, making it so that we kind of had to just juggle between grabbing whatever room temperature sushi came to us via conveyor belt (which was only salmon sushi, nothing else) or waiting for our phones to load up the ordering platform which let us do maybe 3 orders before completely crashing. I have been to kura a couple of times, and I liked their system of discarding the plates and counting as you go, Kaisen kind of just expects you to let your old plates pile up and they count them at the end. The employees were practically useless, you didn't get your water filled up, it had to be ordered on the system for them to acknowledge you. I am fine with modernity, but I feel that this place is picking and choosing very poorly what they "update". Would I come back? Maybe, but not my by own doing.
