Updating my review. We continue to be impressed by Wheatland Spring. They have a great family vibe and wonderful outdoor views. The beers are elevated in quality. This is because Wheatland Spring is an estate brewery, meaning their 30-acre farm is dedicated to growing ingredients for the beer, including malting barley and other grains bred specifically for brewing. Beer list is available here https://www.wheatlandspring.com/beer The stand outs are: 1. Hope Grows: a pine and citrus forward but balanced IPA at 6.4% ABV. Proceeds support research at Virginia Tech testing hundreds of new barley types bred specifically for the Mid-Atlantic growing region, see more here https://www.wheatlandspring.com/hope-grows 2. Long Shadow - an amazing chocolate stout that pairs well with red meat and is very drinkable on its own. It's the best craft brew stout in the NoVA region. Because of the high quality and lower production yield, prices are a bit high compared to other local breweries. We think it is worth it. Food wise they have a rotating with sandwiches including a Cubano, caprese and a grilled cheese. Often there are food trucks there on weekends. Reservations are not required, but are available to Fork + Rake Members. From May to October on each Saturday from 11:00am - 1:00pm they have a wonderful farmers market that's worth checking out.

Very cute brewery and farm with a small, scratch kitchen and very interesting brews. I'd been wanting to stop by forever and finally got the chance while visiting my parents. It's a working farm so there are tractors running all over, staff doing multiple jobs, and the whole place feels alive. We got their pretzel which is a more Bavarian style and comes with a really nice, sharp mustard. You can get Nutella but that's blasphemy, in my opinion. Their beer was excellent, too. The stout has a really roasted chocolate flavor. The smoke doesn't overwhelm the nuttiness but compliments it. Their estate lager Pilsner was also excellent with way more body than you'd select from such a light beer. Really good head on it and was perfect for a sunny day. If I'm in the area again I'll be stopping by, for sure. I'd like to try their sandwiches since they farm the ingredients right next door!

Wheatland Sprig Farm/Brewery is a modest farm in Waterford VA, A few buildings including a barn does not immediately strike you as a must visit. But visit you must. There is a barn which can be rented and a few buildings for cooler weather, but the majority of the area contains a lot of large tables suitable for groups. Its a great place to come with friends and enjoy the location as well as their refined beer selection. Parking is easy with no hills or long bumpy roads to access. They have a truly impressive selection of craft beers brewed with love and care. When we were there, they had at least 12 beers available. A visit to their website reveals the place is really a farm which uses the wheat in their beer. The brewers here are clearly passionate about their work, including as many local ingredients as possible and experimenting in techniques to provide a varied selection of unique and tasty beers. The cans actually show the percentage of local vs from farther afield. I had their Alt Beer which is dark, malty and satisfying, think brown ale or porter with a bit more sophistication. It was on tap but also in cans. My wife had the Westerly ale which is open fermented and was a farmhouse style ale with a nod in the direction of hefeweizen. The brewer I spoke to, Austin knew his stuff and was eager to provide samples and answer questions. I also had a bottle of Eyeglass (later) which was a decent farmhouse style ale. Food selection is modest, but does include sandwiches which is better than some places. I loved the location, the selection and the general, for want of a better word, "farminess" of the place. Very kid friendly and dog friendly. Not spoiled and worth a visit. We are heading back there as soon as possible.

Love this tucked away, dog friendly brewery! There's a handful of outdoor seating options and I could see this place filling up quickly in the summer months so keep that in mind. The wine was refreshing and the pretzel hit the spot! Their pretzel cheese dip and mustard are must try's as well.

Had a great Saturday afternoon at Wheatland. Reservations were easy to make online, and they let you book two 2-hr slots for a longer stay. We originally had an igloo but it was so nice outside in the sun that they let us switch to a large picnic table which fit 6 easily (8 in a pinch!). 4 star rating because it was a little expensive but the beer selection was extensive. We enjoyed the Bauernhof Altbier, Haidhausen Dunkel, River + Flood DIPA, Köln Kölsch (husbands fave!), East Crib (my fave!!), and Farm Chores. No food truck today, but their pressed sandwiches were excellent - grilled cheese, turkey, rubens, and Cubans. COVID socially distancing and cleanliness excellent as well! They are cashless, so you order from the table and the beers and food are brought out quickly.

Quaint snd quiet setting on a Sunday midday. The brewery has plenty of tables with umbrellas at each along with a shaded area with more seating, including a circle of Adirondack chairs. Usually when you go to a brewery or vineyard and it says "no outside food allowed", you get sad or disappointed that you can't bring your own picnic. That's not the case here! They have freshly prepared foods (not from food trucks) they actually make it onsite! We tried the Pulled Pork Sandwich (with Texas BBQ sauce) along with the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. They were both so tasty! We also subbed mac and cheese for both sides and it was worth it! We tried a stout and the Du Champ and liked both. Tips: - If you are thinking about bringing a jacket, bring it! It does get quite breezy on the small hill they are located on. - When you're arriving on their street, be sure to look out for their sign. GPS wants to take you to a private residence but the entry to the brewery is just past that. - They are family friendly. - There is a sunflower field across the street which makes for some beautiful views (not sure if it is on their property).

Wheatland Spring does everything right, from their amazing and distinctive "land beers" (easily some of the best in the DMV) to their beautiful farm space with plenty of room for COVID precautions to be implemented perfectly. The beers are incredible across all styles, and while they make hoppy IPAs, their focus is on pilsners, lagers, classic German styles (dunkels, altbier) and wild ales, in line with Jester King and Fonta Flora. Their staff are incredibly friendly and can easily recommend something whether you're a beer geek/brewer who wants to geek out on an open fermented brettanomyces beer with local grains(the Du Champ, fwiw) or just want to enjoy a great beverage. The food here - mostly sandwiches and chips - is also really solid, with an amazing Cuban sandwich and one of our favorite vegetarian options, the Caprese, which has both basil and pesto for bonus deliciousness. All of this plus this beautiful gorgeous space to relax at? It's a no-brainer. Kid friendly, pet friendly, too. I'd recommend a reservation, especially on a Saturday, and you'll get two hours outside or in one of their beautiful barns. We're an hour away but we're here all the time because it's just such a wonderful combination of kind people making great beer and food in a relaxing place.

4/5, November 2021. We stopped here on the recommendation of a friend. They had good food options that were tasty if slightly pricy. The beer was good and they had several very competitive styles. They had a few different "indoor" seating locations in addition to plentiful outdoor seating. While it was a ways from more built up locations it wasn't too far and definitely worth the drive. We'll certainly be stopping back again soon.

This is such a cute brewery. My bf and I came here when it just opened at 11am this past Sunday. They have plenty outdoor seating, and a barn for indoor seating. Ordered a flight, all were good but the porter fell a little flat for me. Tasted more like a brown ale. Loved the lager and altbier!! I am not sure due to COVID everything is just a bit more expensive now, but a flight is around $16 which is just a bit pricey. The farm itself is huge and the brewery is just a small part of it. They have rotating food trucks, and the taco food truck is on point. (unfortunately I don't remember the name!) I want to come back and venture out to see horses (not sure if that's allowed though) and maybe stay at the little Airbnb on their website. Lol.

Doesn't get much sweeter than this...even the honey bees approve!! Lovely IPA. Honey bee on a pint glass.

I waited a year to see if the beer got better. Nope. Beer is still very expensive compared to others. This beer is on the bottom tear of loudoun's breweries. Go anywhere else.

After finding Wheatland Spring Farm and Brewery on Yelp this quickly became my favorite Brewery. I got the DuChamp both times that I've been here and it's great because it has light flavor which I look for and it pairs well with the food they have to offer as well. I have tried both the barbecue chicken and the pulled pork sandwich. Both were great but my favorite by far is the Pulled Pork Sandwich. In addition the Mac and cheese was delicious as well and goes well with the Pulled Pork. They have a pretty large outdoor seating area which is where we spent our time both trips that we have taken here. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for delicious food and good beer.

GOSLAR barrel-aged Gose, with and without a black currant addition. Surprisingly subtle but delightful difference!

No not the caliber of players, no not the music genre... it's the volume! Three times we've been with friends and the volume inside is almost an assault on the ears (.. and my wife says I'm hard of hearing!). We love, love, love live music. Local artists? Incredible! But, for the volume of the music to become the focus of the day, you'd best be The Rolling Stones! We may have come out to hear someone play, but most importantly we've visited to share good times with our friends, catch up, and laugh. The music should bring ambiance, NOT be the focus - for us its kinship, beer and socializing, which we cannot do with the volume of the music so loud. We will continued to visit Old 690 but will stay away if they have entertainment indoors.
