Regarding Online Appointment System. Does not work. I made an online appointment to save my time. I both confirmed appointment over the phone and received an email confirmation. I dropped off car ten minutes before my appointment time and asked how long it would take - and was told two hours. I came back two hours later and my car had not moved. As near as I can tell, the appointment system is not used for scheduling, and certainly does not meet the expectations of how an appointment works. I cannot recall any other appointment where I was expected to wait 2+ hours after the appointment time - plus then not have the car done when they said it would be done. read more

I was given a quote over the phone and when i came in the manager/owner said they could not do it for that price. The manager gave me multiple BS excuses (required to put tires on rear by law) for why he wouldn't honor the tire rotation. With the air impact wrenches that would have taken them 5 min. Bought new tires from tirerack.com and mounted the tires at wheelworks Livermore. TPMS light ON after mounting, was told that the light might gone after a few miles driving. Got flat tires the same day and called them and was told it is not their fault and told me that they are busy and they do not have time to help me. No. No. No. Never again. I took my brand new jeep in for a balance because we put larger tires and rims on it and it was pulling to the right, so I asked them to align it as well. Huge, long story short- I had to go back the very next day because it was still pulling. The guy tried to dumb ass me (because I'm a female and apparently know nothing about cars) that I MUST have hit something in the past 24 hours and that it's my cars problem and blamed it on my larger tires and suspension. The suspension was stock, from the factory and it was perfect before I put the tires on it. Friggin idiot, you guys. I took it to Les Schwab a week later and the alignment was SO FAR OFF due to the shotty job that my tires had ALREADY started to wear wrong. They had over corrected the alignment so badly just to make it look like they knew what they were doing. Needless to say, I'm pretty pissed. Never will I go back here again. Warning! very shady business These guys totally try to scam you. do not go to them. if they assume you know nothing about cars they will add an entire list of non existent problems to your car so you have to pay them that much more. do not go here. Trust me, find a different mechanic. do not give these guys the time of day! on Friday I went to them, KNOWING my passenger side rotor and front break pads needed to be replaced. They guy working the front desk told me after the break inspection that ALL FOUR rotors and break pads needed to be replaced immediately or my entire break system would fail and it was completely unsafe to drive. he quoted me 600$ to fix, and strongly recommended i do it immediately, or have my car towed. 600$ what? no! I took my car over to Les Shwab which is literally a less than a minute drive from wheel works, and in the same shopping center. (without mentioning I had already been to wheel works) and. they told me my back breaks were in PERFECT condition. but the front passenger side rotor and break pad were metal to metal and needed attention. They quoted me 400$ to replace the two front rotors and break pads. Still pricey, but honest! My husband ended up doing the work and the replacement parts cost us less than 100$ and my car is fine now. no tow needed, there is no visible sign of my breaks going out, and we are not stupid. you guys are a total joke. Nice folks but corporate policy lost my business. Had a flat on a new car. Manufacturer provided no spare only a little compressor and sealant. The store would not repair the tire because the sealant "breaks down the tire." Umm... I don't think so. Do you think a manufacturer would really provide such a system thus making them liable. I checked with several dealers and with another tire places and no one had heard if such a thing. read more

I came in here for a Wheel alignment and was planning on spending the standard price they have. Once waiting about a half hour or more they called me over to tell me that I was missing a certain part that would be a key part for them to actually do the alignment. Not knowing I was missing a piece I became a little skeptical especially when the total all together would be $1000 or more just for all the labor, piece, and alignment together ! Simply not happy with the price I ended up going on their 6 month payment plan because I didn't have the funds right now. Once doing all that, I left the shop around 9am after arriving around 8am. They told me that the wait would be around 4-5 hours. Now simply I gave them til 3pm to be done but never got a call. Around 4pm I walked in to see how my car was doing and they said they wouldn't be done til 6pm when they close! Waiting all day for a vehicle that was supposed to be done in that time frame is extremely upsetting. The only good thing was that my friend worked here and gave me a ride home. But other than that I'm not pleased with this business. 2 hours of waiting and I can seriously say FUCK YOU WHEELWORKS AND YOUR SHITTY SERVICE!!!! I stayed for 2 hours waiting for my parts to be put back in , only to find out that the part was defective TWICE THAT FUCKIN DAY! Upon arriving I was told that all service technicians go to lunch at noon and he suggested I come back at 2:00. I told him I had an appointment and he said they don't make appointments for noon. I'm extremely happy to have Wheel Works back in Livermore. I was a loyal customer when they were located off of first Street for many years. When that shop closed I was forced to do business with someone else. The business I chose was Big O Tires. Most recently I sold my truck that they had been servicing only to find out that stuff they said they had repaired was never repaired. This would've never happened at Wheel Works. Today I stopped by WW to check on my car battery. I was concerned it wasn't working well. Instead of just replacing it and charging me over $200.00 they tested and confirmed although it is 4 years old it had plenty of battery life left. Turns out it was my keyless remote battery costing $5.00. Tom and his team are great to work with and I am always treated with respect. read more

They are the most unprofessional place in the world!!!I took in some tires to be placed on my car last week, i got a call from them (after they had closed) to tell me that the tires did not fit my car and i could come by & pick it up the next day, when i picked them up they gave me back my rims with a HUGE crack in one of them, the guy that gave them to me (Andy) said that " that was how they noticed that it wouldn't fit". I was in a hurry so i left. I made the biggest mistake by taking my rims w/ me. I went back & they tried to tell me that it was like that when i dropped it off. The schmo who answered the call didn't have the time to give my husband the estimate and took our number and said he'd call right back with the amount. It's surprising how much people don't know about cars. The average person would not even know if wheel works does a good job or not. Most of these people are giving good reviews without really knowing that they are getting extremely shoddy services, repairs, etc from these guys. The average wheel works employee is generally less experienced and knowledgeable than mechanics who work at REAL auto shops, mostly because wheel works specializes in selling and installing wheels. For any purpose besides buying and installing new wheels, I would definitely NOT recommend wheel works. Here is a short anecdote providing clear evidence to persuade you not to go to this establishment. - had an appointment at 10 am, they would not see me till 11. - after about two hours, they finally got the car on a lift (even though over half the lifts were available for use) - after about four hours, they finally installed one new wheel - during these four hours I saw multiple people with walk ins who came after me leave with their services finished and complete (what is the point of appointments?) - I came in for a wheel alignment as well, they called me about 6 hours after I came in, saying they do not know how to do wheel alignments, thus leaving me with -1 camber on one side and -2.5 camber on the other.... For those of you who don't know, that's a very noticeable difference that may not be safe to drive with. - I then proceeded to tell them to learn to do their jobs and adjust the alignment correctly, which they said they would - around an hour before closing I called to see the progress and see if I would be able to get my car back the same day. The employee said he will check and call back. Twenty minutes later, no call, so I call them. They proceed to tell me they still don't know. Then I call five minutes later and a different guy picks up and tells me that they did not fix the huge difference in camber (the guy previously was too afraid to say they did nothing at all). - I finally went to pick up my car so I could take it to a different place for a wheel alignment since wheel works was so significantly incompetent. When I went to turn on my car, my battery was dead because the employees at wheel works do not know what they are doing. Final endpoint: if you want your car to leave in worse condition than when you brought it in, then by all means, please go to wheel works. Reality is, you get what you pay for. Wheel works may have decent prices, but it's only because they don't actually know what they're doing. read more

So this is the first review I have ever done, bare with me. this place was good ...for awhile. even got me to buy the lifetime alignment with custom rims and tires for my 2010 dodge ram. then things started going down hill from there. I have worked retail before so I know mistakes happen and its what you do after the mistake that will get you repeat business. I will never go to this place again even though its so dam close and convenient. after I bought all the goodies and was still a happy customer I told tom [ store manager ] that his would be my go to shop for both my wife's car and my truck. so the time before this last fiasco they busted the threaded lug stud off one of my rims. after nick [ service manager ] called and told me they said they would fix it but would take longer than expected, hey shit happens and like I said mistakes happen. got an oil change at the same time $45.00. but after this last time I will not trust them to do any kind of professional job. took my truck down for a rotation, alignment, and oil change now $75.00....for an oil change! Then I traveled to Indonesia for two weeks. during which time my wife drove my truck several times and when I got home I drove it for one week before I could do a brake pad replacement that they recommended I have. Imagine my surprise the morning I got ready to do the brake job and saw that one lug nut was missing then I looked at the other tires, ALL had one lug nut missing...WTF. so down I go to the store I go and drag nick out to show him, he says UHhh that's weird! yea nick that is weird and MY WIFE had been driving that weirdness around for two weeks with only 4 lug nuts on a tire. well says nick ``technically its still safe to drive around with one less lug nut....... are you kidding me? im sure that dodge would not put 5 lug nuts on each rim if they could get away with four! So no apology, no sorry for the crap work. after checking to see if he had replacements there at the shop he said he could have them in one hour. can you guess what happened in one hour? all he could get was ones that didn't fit. Why? he has all the info on my rims right there on the computer. so now I'm to wait until Tuesday when tom has assured me they will have them at the store. still no apology still no clue as to how this could have happened at a place named WHEEL WORKS. I'm hoping and praying my tires don't fall off, but hey Technically you can drive with four lug nuts............Right? read more

After being turned away from the Dublin Wheel Works (and I had an appointment that I made 3 weeks ago), I walked into Livermore location to try to schedule an appointment for another day, since I bought the lifetime alignment and Dunlin replace a tire a month ago and didn't align it (they were supposed to) and was asked if I had 40 minutes, that they could get my truck on the rack right away and fix the alignment. 40 minutes later, he was showing me the readout on just how bad the alignment was out and I was back in my truck. That was grateful customer service and above and beyond what I was expecting. read more

It took them 8 hours to change my tires. This place is laughably understaffed or definitely incompetent. I had to call 5 hours in to ask what the hell was going on and it appeared to have reminded them that my car was still in the lot where I left it waiting for service hours ago. I call again before they close for the night wondering what the hell is going on again. They never called once updating me. The manager answers this time and assures me the work is completed and ready for pick up. I drive the car out of the lot and the oil light is on. Low oil pressure. The engine is making a grinding noise and smells like smoke. I take the car back. The manager waves me off and says it just needs to reset itself. I drive a few hundred feet down the road and the noise and light continue. Fearing the worst, I drive back to the shop and the tech checks the car and immediately realizes they forgot to put new oil in the engine. They scramble after closing hours to replace the oil after it had been left under their care 8 hours earlier. The manager is aware of the screw up but tries to cover it up. They hit me with the infamous mechanic line, "can you please describe this noise?" a few more times and assure me they had in fact changed the oil earlier while I was watching them rush to replace the oil after closing hours and know they lied to me. Had I driven out thinking the oil was changed and never second guessed their shoddy craftsmanship the engine would have been ruined. They offered me no discount or apology. The manager just stood his ground, yelled at me, and threw a paper towel at the tech telling him to prove that the oil had been successfully changed by looking at the dipstick. It was a horrible experience and is not the first time I have had a lengthy and incompetent experience at a Wheel works before. I would never recommend this business to an enemy. The employees clearly care about their work significantly more than the typical big-chain mechanic. This time I am giving 0 stars to customer service and all the managers who were supposed to contact me and never did. Based on the emails I received from customer service regarding my issue with Wheel Works, they assured me that I would get a call from an area manager within 48 hours. After 120 hours I emailed back asking why no one called me. They assured me that the regional manager would contact me within 48 hours. Guess if someone contacted me?!?! No, no one did! Then, it was the turn for the district manager to contact me. I guess my issue wasn't important enough to get a call. 3 weeks after the terrible experience that my husband and I had at Wheel Works, I am still waiting for someone to contact me. I was asked about my phone number, home address, and information about my terrible experience at Wheel Works in Livermore! I provided all the information they asked for and am still waiting to hear back. Apparently I can't contact the upper management because they don't talk to people. Went to have my front brakes done after the sensor came on advising me that I needed pads. No surprise to me, because my regular mechanic advised me that the front brakes would have to be replaced soon, but the rear breaks were good to go. My mechanic, who services my vehicle regularly was unavailable on the day I wanted my brakes done, so I called Wheel Works and got a quote of about $200+. I made an appointment for 12, but they did not began to look at my car until sometime after 2pm. (I left to go have lunch) When I returned after 3pm, I was told that front and rear brakes were down to 2-3mm and both would need to be replaced for about $1100! I said that's funny because my regular mechanic that I have been going to for years recently inspected the vehicle and advised me that the rear brakes were fine. (his shop specializes in German cars and are very meticulous.) his reply was "maybe he missed it." I said no thanks waited for my regular mechanic the following day and got the work I needed done for a fraction of Wheel Works attempted to charge. They wont see another dollar from me. read more

I got my oil changed here & when my boyfriend wanted new wheels & tires he went to another "big name" tire place & they wanted to nickel & dime him for everything right down to shipping charges for his wheels. Came here after getting a very expensive quote from Les Schwab where the technician tried to upsell me a more expensive set of tires. Tom was awesome. I told him exactly what i wanted (on a tight budget, got approved for $1200 line of credit, commute 70 miles a day, and want something dependable), and he was very accomodating. He told me they had a wide range of tires and that he thought the cheapest tire (on sale) was very high quality with a 40k mile warranty. I was sold right there. He then asked about a few other things like my brakes and oil change and was not pushy when I told him i was capable of doing the brakes, but because he was saving me money I'd have them change my oil and air filter. They were done in about 75-90 minutes and had my car purring on the road. I even had them quote me on my Armada 22" tires and they are going to be able to save me about $400 from what Les Schwab quoted me. Needless to say, going to be using Wheel Works for all my car maintenance needs from here on out. read more
