In addition to the the wrong offset, described in my previous review, Wheelworks also installed the rear tire backwards. The tire has an arrow showing the direction the tire must be mounted, and they installed it in the reverse direction. DO NOT GO TO WHEELWORKS! read more

These guys are great. Dave, Gary, Matt, Anthony all are great guys. I've been coming here for my Harleys for over 10 years. Not only do they know their stuff, but they're pretty cool guys. They will give you advice, and make suggestions, but they will not pressure sell you. They are quick and most of the time it's drive-up service. GREAT service. They didn't have a front, but offered to order and gave me a good price for it. 50.00 for the mount/balance, was very fair. The guys were super, fun to talk to, and they helped me with another small problem while the tire was off the bike. Dave pointed out a potential spline problem, and told me what needed to be done to it to fix it. I visited wheel works a couple months ago to get a new rear tire put on my sportster. This place came highly recommended so I rode a little farther from my house to try them out. I was nervous being a girl how I would be treated, however I was not disappointed!! This place is great!! I called Wheel Works first to ask if they were able to spoke my 19" rim to a Honda XL front hub. Understandably, they said they would have to see it in person, so I drove over on July 2nd, as Wednesday is my only weekday off work. Upon inspection they told me they would be able to re-spoke it, quoted me out on a price, and then notified me that the work would most not likely be done until the following Monday, as it was a holiday weekend. Fine, that was no big deal. I was told I would receive a phone call. I called Tuesday to see how it was coming along, after not hearing anything, being sure not to be pesky. I was put on hold for a while until they returned to tell me that the rim/hub had been placed in the wrong section of their shop and that they hadn't gotten to it yet. No big deal really. I was told they would get to it that day and have it ready by Wednesday (the 9th) Sounds good to me. I was in the area Wednesday and decided to call and see if it was ready for pickup, but was told that they hadn't gotten around to it. "We'll get to it today and have you all wrapped up by Thursday. You're the next in line." Was what they told me. Well...I guess that works? "We'll give you a call." Ok. Thursday passes, as does Friday, Saturday and Sunday. No calls, and I'm aware they are closed on the weekends. The lack of communication is becoming irritating. I call them Monday morning (the 13th) and ask about my rim/hub. Put on hold again for a good 5 minutes. Finally told that they weren't able to get to my rim, but that I was (again) next on the list and that they will be able to have me out of there on Tuesday. Well, I have Wednesday off, and I'm becoming irritated with being told multiple times it will be done on X day. I tell them I'll be by on Wednesday to pick it up. They tell me it will be ready for pickup. I walk in Wednesday to pick it up. The gentleman helping me has to look around for a while and ask his fellow workers about my rim. A while later, and after looking through all the finished rims they have, he finds it hidden under a desk. He places it on the table and says to me, "I guess we had some trouble with it and broke 2 of our tools on it in the process." Upon inspection I notice that 2 of the screws holding the right side spokes on the hub are stripped, and one has a drill bit stuck in it. At this point they are ruined beyond being able to use a screw extractor, and are as good as stuck in my rim, causing the plate that holds the right side spokes to only be able to be held on by the remaining screw or two. I stare in disbelief at what I'm seeing in front of me. Still amazed, I inform him that I will be taking my hub back before there is any further damage and that I would like my other rim back as well. He has to look for minutes before he even finds the rim that I had asked to have swapped on. I am now left with a rim that has been professionally ruined. It is useless to me now, and I have to scramble to find another one so that I can complete my project by the deadline. This is some of the worst service I have EVER had the displeasure of receiving, and would highly caution anyone who read through this review to STAY AWAY. I understand being busy, having mechanics out, holidays, and even running into problems that were unforeseen. Believe me, I work at a small business and deal with issues such as these on a daily basis, and never, I repeat NEVER, would I ever have the audacity to lie to a customer over the phone and straight to their face. What do I have now? A ruined, useless hub and a rim that I still need swapped. I called a competitor and informed them of my experience and they told me they could have had that job done in 2-4 days. I don't know why I didn't just do that to begin with. Sigh. Long story short, I would rather extinguish a campfire with my face than do business with Wheel Works again. Very disappointing. Oh, and if you guys (Wheel Works) are reading this, I'd like to say this: I don't feel that I was rude or incorrect at any point during this ordeal, and regardless I'm sure you usually do good work as the other Yelp reviewers suggest. I've heard good and bad things.. Experience was not so good. Got new front and rear tires, mechanic was texting and smoking while working on my bike. Looked fine at the end. Got home and noticed wheels were not aligned, my spokes were rubbing my front caliper and my belt had a huge gauge out of it. Took it back and they said oops well we will put the spacer back in your front wheel.. Other than that i'm screwed. Tried to bullshit me when I'm the one who built the damn bike. I'd rather pay more for quality work! Oh and they put my buddies front wheel on backwards.. Good job guys!! Moral of the story I paid $600 for inconvenience, scratched caliper messed up spokes and work to align my wheels.. read more

I did not even get a chance to ask if they had a front tire to match. So far I have bought two sets of tires from these guys for my Victory Kingpin and VTX 1800. I stop by, place the order, and in a few days the tires arrive, I come back and Voila! Why I drive 100 miles to Wheel Works ( San Diego to Garden Grove) I've been going to Wheel Works for all my tire, wheel and suspension needs since 1999, the year I got my first Harley Davidson. Dave is top notch, loaded with knowledge and information on tires and suspension. The rest of the crew are also very knowledgeable and helpful. They always give my bike a once over. Looking for anything that could be a problem later. I never feel as if it is an up-sell just honest info for my safety. Just last week (7/15/17) I came in for new tires. I always get Metzelers. Mat, asked if I wanted to try something new? He told me that Dunlap and Michelin have made huge improvements in their tires. He thought the Michelin tires would be a good tire for me. So, I got them. On the way out Dave notice that my front end looked bad, it had a droop. Basically my front end was shot. Now, keep in mind my bike had been to the Harley shop 2 or 3 times in the pass week (I'm getting ready for Sturgis) no one said a thing about my front end. Mat, installed the Progressive, fork monotube kit. With the fork monotube kit and the new Michelin tires it's like riding a new bike. In fact, it rides better than it did when it was new (2006 Road Glide). I come here because I know these guys 'got my back'. Whenever I go to Wheel Works it's tough leaving. Went there cause they used to give military discounts now they don't and they charged me $90 to change my rear tire after I waited 3 hours cause they kept taking people that came after me and then took a half hour lunch. Then he showed me I was missing a bolt from my exhaust and then proceeded to tell me that he couldn't replace cause he only carries American bolts!!! Wtf they are standard and metric !!! I was quoted one price but was charged something significantly different/higher. They claimed that the original quote was too low and couldn't honor it. It was all labor. Had nothing to do with parts pricing. Then got attitude from one of the technicians for being too much work for the money. It's not my fault that they can't commit to the work for the promised price. I wouldn't recommend using these guys. They should have made it right by apologizing. I would have been ok with that. But they didn't. This is a Mom-n-Pop place that I've been going to for years. Excellent people to work with. No rush, no hurry. They've put tires on my '86 Kawasaki Ninja 600. They've put tires on my '90 Kawasaki ZX6. Recently they put Dunlop Sportmax Roadsmart II on my 2010 Kawasaki Concours. I ordered my tires by phone. They came in a week later. I rode in and they put them on in an hour. No appointment needed. Again, no rush no hurry = Excellent job done. As long as I own a bike they will be the place to put tires on it.
