We are fortunate to have good friends that have a home in "the Landings", a beautiful maintained HOA Community with slots for boating, golf, pools, and a few restaurants. We were invited to join our friends for dinner at the Wheelhouse for dinner recently. It has been completely renovated, and it is outstanding. My husband and I have lived in Ft. Myers for 11 years, and we love to test out nice dining facilities in the area. The view from the restaurant dining area is THE best we have experienced on the Gulf of America!!! The food was absolutely delightful and extremely reasonable for the quality. The new ceiling prevents any noise which is a plus compared to many other really nice restaurants in the area. We are not members, so we can not make our own reservations, but I highly recommend a visit to "the Wheelhouse" if you are members, you won't be disappointed. read more

Found this restaurant on yelp! Gated community but no one at the gate- the gate went up automatically . No signs that said member only! Was seated with no questions! Our waiter couldn't serve us! The manager asked us to leave because we were not members! Why advertise on Yelp? Dissatisfied! Disappointed! With both Yelp and Wheelhouse Grill! read more

Made an effort to check this place out. Nowhere does it state that this is an a private community, and the public is not allowed in. The extremely rude security guard let us know that. read more

Just say no. We stopped in on our way home from the Beach, and decided to give them a try. The food was great as I ordered the tacos, but the service not as good. In fact rather boring. There was a couple at the other end of the bar and at a booth so there was nothing going on. The guy bartender was ok but not really up on the local drafts they had and he lady server (nothing special) was , well just there. Really disappointed because they are just around the corner from our house! Pros: good food Cons: no atmosphere no interaction with the customer and when you are not busy these should be a priority Not sure if we will give them another try as there are so many cool places in town! read more

First time to visit Wheelhouse. I love me some good grilled meats! The the food was over all quite tasty. Not a huge variety of options on the menu. But that's fine, I usually get a burger anyway. Prices were all very affordable, and I downed a few drinks at the bar. Does have a great view if you like to sit back and watch tides flow by. The atmosphere was a bit listless. Between the activity within the restaurant and the staff members service, it was all very low energy. As if everyone was just going through the motions. The food was delicious and arrived quickly to the table read more

Five stars for the food. She crab soup was very good, very thick and creamy. Would have liked more chunks of crab and a swirl of sherry on top, but no biggie. Mahi sandwich was delicious, it was a huge piece of fish, I chose crispy for the sandwich, it was perfect. Served on brioche bun, which was a nice touch. Also, the tartar sauce was really good, not sure if they make it in house but sure tastes like they might. Instead of fries, I got the daily veg & it was outstanding: grilled asparagus, zucchini, and onions, but the serving size for the veg was very very small, I would have liked more of that on the plate. The server was really great, and the service was fast, the downside is that I don't think they communicate well with each other-we talked to the various people who came to the table and some of the messages got mixed up. However, this was not a big deal and easily remedied, and the food was really excellent so who cares. Outstanding food, fast & friendly service, average prices (drink prices are pretty good), and beautiful river view. I strongly recommend eating here. read more

Absolutely lovely view of the water, boats, and bridge, from any table. Previously, enjoyed the seared sea scallops and risotto. That's off the menu now, but there were so many delicious choices. We decided on a wonderful burger and the shrimp. It was slightly sweet and spicy, the the shrimp were huge. Thanks again for a wonderful lunch. read more

Our family has been eating here for years and have never had a bad experience. The only downside is that their menu is limited. But what they offer they offer well. The food is average to above average. The service is average to above average. But any limitations on the food and service side is more than made up by the fantastic view. We have always been with my parents who are Landings residents. I do not know if outside people can pass the gate without being invited by a resident. read more

Is it a Prime Rib Friday night special or a Sunday brunch or just a weekend drop-by to enjoy a drink and a snack outside (little hot at the moment) or an absolutely incredible river vista in A/C comfort ? The Wheelhouse Grill mixes delicious food selections with an inviting ambiance, including a newly renovated pub area and that equals excellence in service and quality presented dishes. Their happy hour prices spell true value. The MD does all he can to make you feel at home. You know you're in the right place when this gated community supports the establishment. He brought the menus, but it was a long time before he returned. Drinks took over 20 minutes to come out. Bread came after the drinks, but with no plates or silverware, so we had to eat it with our hands. Not ideal. That said, the espresso martini was excellent--no complaints there. When the food came out, the presentation was beautiful, and everything tasted fresh and well-executed. That part of the meal definitely hit the mark. But then it took just as long to get the check, and by that point, the waiting added up. One small but noticeable issue was the smell of the table and menus--it gave off that old rag scent, which pulled me out of the otherwise upscale experience. I think this place has a lot of potential. The atmosphere is great, the food is solid, and the concept is there. But based on this visit, I would like to see sharper execution on the service side before I'd give it a higher rating. I will return.
