After meeting with Dr Prasad today my husband and I have a very good understanding as far as the different choices he has for his back pain relief as well as future options with keeping my husband healthy and giving him a better lifestyle with the use of his back. Appointments are not always the easiest to come by since he's the head of neurosurgery for UC Davis Medical Group. I could've seen someone else a bit sooner but chose to wait since my case was a bit complicated due to previous spine procedures and surgery. Parking is easy to find in their vast parking lot. You'll find a number of other specialty offices in other suites on their campus. I underwent a L5-S1 discectomy at their wonderful new 48X outpatient surgical facility. It's a gorgeous new surgery center that's designed for outpatient procedures but they'll admit you overnight if needed. Unfortunately my disc was calcified and he had to carefully and tediously drill out the herniated disc as it was pressing on my nerve root. It caused horrific pain and my leg and foot were becoming unstable and weak. My surgery ended up being five hours long instead of two, and he ended up admitting me overnight for observation and pain control, which was a blessing. I'm on the road to recovery, and I thank Dr. Kim for everything. I hope and pray I'm able to ride a bicycle with our daughters who are five and eight in the near future. I was in a car accident in 2017 and underwent a laminectomy and microdiscectomy in 2018. I've never been able to go on a bike ride with them and it's been my dream, hope, and wish I've been working towards.

Surgery is never easy, but with Dr. Kim it was. After 11 years of pain, I am now pain-free. ***My Story*** My L4-L5 disc herniated in 2007, at the age of 21. I spent the next 11 years in increasingly debilitating pain. I went to various doctors multiple times up and down the state complaining of pain in the same region. They all sent me home with pain pills/narcotics, none of them believing (or caring?) about the severity of my pain. It became worse and worse until finally I had to quit my job as a teacher because I became (basically) paralyzed in 2017. The pain was so bad that I couldn't get up. My 6-year-old spent the next 6-9 months taking full care of me, (I'm a single mom) including meals, cleaning etc. as I laid in bed in excruciating pain. ***Dr. Kee Kim*** My story became public when I reached out to the newspaper begging for help as I was financially depleted and about to become homeless. Dr. Kee Kim, out of the kindness of his heart and by the grace of God, decided he could help me and took me on. I was so scared to do the surgery, who wouldn't be? But I knew that if anyone could help me, it would be him... I had read numerous reviews on various websites about him; even from people who flew in from out of state just for him. After meeting him and seeing how professional, knowledgeable and confident he was, I knew for a fact I was in good hands. While Dr. Kim was operating on my spine, he discovered that my disc had fused to my spinal cord because it had been herniated for so long. This was not apparent on any testing done prior to surgery, so Dr. Kim had to scrape the disc off my spinal cord-- on the spot. One slip of the hand and I would've been fully paralyzed for life. To me it shows incredible talent, genius, and hand-eye coordination that a neurosurgeon absolutely MUST have. I am so thoroughly impressed and pleased with the outcome. (An unexpected outcome as well is that my mood and spirits are so high. I didn't even realize how my disability had me so down in the dumps until Dr. Kim fixed me.) It has been almost 6 months since surgery and I am feeling great! The scar is so small (less than an inch long) and already faded to a light light pink. I am not only able to take care of my son again, but we get to go on hikes, parks, bike rides and more. I have my life back, and my son has his mom back. County, it has been very difficult for us to find appropriate health care for him with his limited insurance. His PCP is a nurse practitioner(NP) and she recently gave my son a referral to Dr. Burgerman, a neurologist/surgeon, who treats seizure disorders. I was so happy to get a specialist for my son's problem that I failed to check him out, but was quickly aware that this man had a God complex. I was naturally upset during the first visit because it was my child that was possibly getting the disagnosis of frontal lobe seizures, but each time I tried to ask a question, I was rudely cut off. Dr. Burgerman also allowed his Nursing Assistant to attend the interview, and her constant interruptions were not only a distraction, they wrre outright rude at times, but Dr. Burgerman allowed this to continue & I wondered if she was his wife. I asked about the possible conflict in a med. my son was already on and three he had written down for him to start on, when his NP jumped up from her seat and informed me that they ONLY TREAT SEIZURES! Being a lay person, I had no idea what was meant by this display and tried to inquire, but Linda, the NP, just kept cutting me off until Dr. Burgerman stepped in and said, "I treat seizures! I do not prescribe psychiatric drugs. If you are asking if I took the drug your son takes into consideration before prescribing the antiseizure medication, then yes I did. That drug also lowers his threshold for seizures and if you desire to keep him on it, you'll have to retain a psychiatrist to prescribe it." Wouldn't it have been nice if he had just said that in the first place? How would I know any of that?? I was so put off by this man and his so-called NP?,"Whatever?," any trust or hope that I may have had in him being able to help my son, went right out the window. My son was in a wheelchair and when he needed to use the bathroom, which was just next door to our room, Dr. Burgerman told me he could not use it, as it was for staff only. We were then told to go down the hall, through a pediatric waiting room of another doctor's practice, out his door, down another hall and to the left, then down yet one more hall to get to a bathroom. Once there, we found no handicapped or unisex facility, like the one next to Burgerman's interview room, and I had to take my grown, 37 yr old son, into the ladies bathroom to assist him. Surely Dr. Burgerman, as well as the other staff there, have had to attend Dr. appoints for themselves, and in other facilities where they shared restooms with other patients... Did they think their chances of catching autism from a toilet seat was any greater in their building then anyone elses??? It just placed a lot more emotional stress on the both of us, and I was wondering what kind of man this doctor was. Later on, when I called his office to inquire if my son could have some medication for his migraine, I was told by Burgerman's receptionist, that he was in still in surgery and could not be disturbed.. I asked his recpeptionist to please give him a msg when he was out.. The recept. then told me to get the meds from my son's PCP... so I reminded her that his PCP was a Nurse Practitioner, and referred my us to Burgerman in the first place because she said that his problems were beyond the scope of her expertise! A back and forth ensued, in which this staff person began to badger me about why I couldn't find a doctor? If I had called every doctor in the phone book? And did I expect her to find my son a doctor? ( All the while, my son was crying and screaming in the background that his head hurt.. and could I help him?) I was plenty rattled by now, almost feeling as if I had stepped into the Twilight Zone with this witch, so I said, "Ma'am, did I call you and ask you to find us a doctor, or did I ask you to pass a msg to Dr. Burgerman that my son needs medication?" And BAM!, She slammed the phone down and hung up on me! Did these people work with Dr. Burgerman, so long that they felt this kind of behavior toward a patient or client was somehow justified or acceptable? At 7:30 that evening, Dr. Burgerman phoned me and asked me why I had screamed at his staff person. There is no way that I even raised my voice to her, but there was no explaining to him what happened either. He just unloaded on me, and told me that if I wanted medicine for my son, I could take him to the E.R. and maybe some doctor there would prescribe it for him. He also said, "No wonder you can't find a doctor for your son!" I am still in shock. This man has no empathy, care or concern for his patients in my estimation.. and my son will not go back to him, especially after I pulled up a couple of patient reviews and saw that I was not an isolated incident. She reviews labs, X-rays, and my MRI to see, exactly, what is involved and what is causing my pain. She is very knowledgable about different modalities of treatment and presents them with understanding and precision. I, recently, went to her office, but on the way, google maps took to the wrong place. I had parked my car and after walking 3 blocks, I realized I was in the wrong place. I was 10 minutes away from my appointment time. Walking is painful for me, (part of the reason I see Dr Davids) so it took me awhile to get back to my car. By that time I was 2 minutes late. I called the office to let them I was close and that I would be there soon. They told me they would see me soon. Through 2 or 3 more unfortunate actions on my part, I found my self looking for the wrong office number and was instructed by a worked to go to the next building. To make a very long story no longer, I called the office at 20 minutes past my scheduled appointment, crying, and Sandra answered the phone. She had me describe to her where I was, asked what I was wearing and said she would come get me. Soon Sandra was walking me to the office. She reassured me that everything was ok and that Dr Davids would see me soon. That was 30 minutes after my appointment time. They had accommodated my lateness by seeing patients that were already there so I could be seen when I finally arrived. She brought me water, and reassured me everything was ok. When Dr Davids came in she was so kind and gentle and she told me it had worked out and that she was glad to see me. We had a wonderful conversation and she was very through in her assessment of my needs. I felt cared for and it was such a positive experience-one I will never forget. Being an RN that has worked in the medical field, for 35 years, I know a good quality healthcare provider whan I experience one. Dr Davids and her staff are the best! Thank you, Dr Davids and Sandra and the staff for making this very stressful event so much better than it started out to be.

He was treating me after another dr caused nerve damage during a partial nephrectomy the previous year. He really spends time with you take make sure you understand everything , the good bad and ugly. I couldn't be happier with the way the dr and staff had treated me. The waiting room is clean and many chairs to sit at. There is a white board to show you if drs are running late or on time. The receptionist are helpful.

My husband left a message with his doctor before Christmas and because he had not heard back, he then called the office yesterday to follow up. Yesterday morning, when the receptionist told my husband that his doctor would contact him right after she was done with her patient, one would think his doctor would contact him soon after. Well, that was a wrong assumption on our part! The lack of quality customer service and care from this Sutter group is very disappointing and certainly does not reflect Sutter's Health's Mission, Vision, and Values.
