Been coming to this place since I moved to Ridgewood a year ago! Such delicious food, great for vegetarians like me. Definitely get the veggie dumplings for a starter. Hummus and naan are insanely good although I wish they served a larger scoop of hummus, but I guess that makes you appreciate the flavor even more. Any platter is great - make sure to get one with the spicy potatoes because those things are so good. Top off your meal with a mango lassi. Staff is so nice, vibe is just right for date night or a solo meal, great back patio area, overall an excellent place. It was a Sunday afternoon around 12pm when I arrived at this bar/restaurant. I could tell from the bohemian, exotic vibe they're not kidding about the Kathmandu thing. The friendly staff helped us choose from their unique menu while also giving us the low down on the origin of the restaurant and a sister restaurant in the area. I was really impressed by the flavors and quality of the food. The service was great. Coffee was tasty (though I wish it was stronger). I will try the chai next time. They have a great selection of beers, too. If I lived in this area, I would eat here at least once a week. As it stands, I will make a special trip from the LES to try the rest of the menu. read more

Sent in a delivery order 2 hours ago.. zero updates so we called to see what's up. Turns out grubhub didn't send a driver; the restaurant didn't pick up for 30 min and finally, when they did, the "manager " said maybe he will take it but asked for cash from us and to cancel our order with grub hub which honestly grub hub probably wouldn't refund partially or at all for. We said ok but it's been two hours, is the food hot? He said well no and that they wouldn't make us a new order (we only put in two small dumpling orders and an appetizer). 2.5 hours of waiting and dealing and they were being sketchy and said we'd still have to pay full amount plus delivery for food made almost two hours ago. We are super disappointed, hungry after a super long day of working and no groceries, and probably won't order here again. Sucks. read more

Wow! I have been eye-ing this place for a while and decided to order some delivery. I had to call someone after the first bite it was sooooooo good. We ordered the chicken and cheese roti, the plate and the dry wings. With all the sides and condiments, I have to say that this is some of the best food I've had in a while...Certainly for something delivered to my doorstep at least. Full of flavor- ginger, cumin, chili... a total party in your mouth. Anytime you can purposely pick up and bite into a raw red onion and that does nothing but accentuate the flavor that is already there, you know that's a good bite. Go ahead and try it. I don't think you will be disappointed. Next time we look forward to having the meal in the restaurant so that we can enjoy the full experience and presentation of it all. read more

Wow is really all I can say which is, like, not helpful for a review when it ends there BUT i am truly blown away by the meal I had last night. Every single dish packed a flavorful punch. The fries were fresh cut (GET OUT OF HERE SYSCO FROZEN FRENCH FRIES I LOATHE THEE) and the momos were out of this world. Also, I asked for a hot sauce and they gave me a full on metal bowl packed to the brim with delicious fermented chilies and it was SO DAMN GOOD and hot and spicy and not some mealy mouthed attempt at salsa. I also did my ubiquitous I get a margarita everywhere I go even if I shouldn't and that was shockingly good too. Highly recommend the poppers (lol, not those kind), the momos, the cheese naan, the hot sauce, every single momo (pork preferred) and the french fries. Simplicity is best. I came here with my gf (we are both vegetarian) last night. The menu was short and to the point - savory or sweet rotis, momos and a few side dishes. We ordered two rotis with fried eggs and the veg momos. The veg momos were fantastic, very flavorful and a good amount of spice. The rotis were both very hearty and came with channa and pickles (the spicy indian kind!). We loved everything we ordered. Smitten! Just stopped in for some chicken momo (similar to dumplings) as a snack and ended up getting a few more things. Everything was so delicious, can't wait til they get their full menu up. I went here for the first time maybe two weeks ago and since I've been here 4 times, two of which were in the same weekend. Everything on the menu is incredibly tasty and there are options for all types of diets. The wings are probably the best wings I've had in a restaurant. They are seasoned so well and are crispy without being over done. The momos are also a standout on the menu - especially the pork. Even the coffee is something to write home about. While In Kathmandu brings a unique flavor and cuisine to ridgewood/bushwick that was definitely needed. The waiter was friendly and recommended the bari, lentil pancakes that came with Nepali seasoned potatoes and a small dish of curry with potatoes and lentils. All of it was excellent. I usually find potatoes boring but the spice combination on these made me wish I'd ordered more. The curry was mildly spicy and served as a nice mix of lentils and potatoes, continuing the theme. And the lentil pancakes were a first for me, making me wish I'd eaten these before. I ordered an egg on top which was good but the dish would have still been good without it. While looking for new cuisine to eat in Brooklyn, NY, I came across While in Kathmandu. The pictures is what originally drew me in. I never had Himalayan food before so needless to say I was curious. We sat down around 2:40 pm, drinks and food order were taken in a reasonable time. Was told by the waiter the food will take 25 minutes to prepare. Let me say I have no problem waiting for great food. When the food arrived 40 plus minutes later the only issue about the dish I had was that more than half of the items were cold or room temperature which is fine if that is how the dish is. I didn't understand though why it took 40 minutes to cook chicken if that was all that needed to be prepared. Another table who arrived after us ordered appetizers with their entrees and got all of their food before we got ours. I was pleased by the smell. The flavors of the chicken were delicious. Since I'd never heard of it before a friend stumbled upon it, I'd like to consider this a true hidden gem! The inside of the restaurant is relatively small but enough tables to spread out. I ordered take out from them twice (now in a week). Both times I ordered the dry masala chicken and a naan (once garlic, the other cheese). Curry sauce is on the salty side, but it went great with both naans. The naans... are so so fresh, soft, and chewy. Fried chicken was also very good; I personally didn't need any sauce with it. Hummus was very nice, a balanced flavor! They were on-time even on a busy night and in the early evening time, they were quite fast with their order prep. Happened to be in Queens and decided to stop in on this little gem! So glad we did. It was a lovely afternoon so we sat out back in their covered courtyard separated from other diners by lovely planter boxes. The service was attended by a lovely young lady from Nepal. Really neat hole in the wall for Nepalese food. The interior is cozy and transports you out of Brooklyn. Tried the pork chicken and shrimp momo's. They're definitely tasty and generous portions. Just moved into the neighborhood, and so happy that this was the first restaurant I tried. The service is very pleasant, and the food is oh so tasty. Loved the cozy interior, and you can easily make a meal out of just an order of momos and an appetizer. The sauce that they have with the momos is killer, and whatever sauce comes with the cheese naan was fire! I did notice that the food took a while, and there was a family that ended up just getting their meal to go since they had a fussy toddler with them, so don't go here if you are in a hurry. We ordered a variety of different food here and iced chiya for drinks. The fried malekhu ko macha (fried fish) was delicious! Definitely recommend that along with the masala wings for appetizers. We also ordered the chicken platter, chicken roti with cheese, puri tarkari, aloo gobi paratha and salmon sizzler. Everything was yummy but we really enjoyed the chicken roti with cheese, which was recommended by the waiter. The salmon sizzler was ok, wish there would be more veggies. I live in Brooklyn, but on this day my errand running brought me to Ridgewood. I have had relatively infrequent trips to Queens, mostly hanging out in Astoria, LIC and Jackson Park. Unsure if I would ever have another reason to be in the area, I quickly scanned Google Maps for restaurants. I saw this spot on the map, and it stirred up a vague sense of familiarity that I couldn't ignore. At the time I stopped in, it was just after 2 and completely empty. The staff seemed so surprised to see me that I almost left, but it was really cold and I was very hungry. I placed an order for masala wings and fries and took it to go. The food was incredibly tasty even after surviving a 45 min commute back to BK. I loved the spice profile of both items, and would definitely return with friends to try more things on the menu! read more

This newly open restaurant is sooooo good ( I almost dont want to write an review to spoil my favorite neighborhood spot) However, it is important their hardwork being seen and rewarded... by having more costumers. Put my own selfishness aside. Awesome authentic music played in the restaurant( modern Nepalese music) and our waiter Parjuul even gave us a little education on how the modern Folk Napalese music work . Everything is really good so far For starters- Fried Fish. We took a long trek from uptown Manhattan and were rewarded for our efforts. The food here is very flavorful and delicious. My wife has multiple food allergies, and the owner went out of his way to inform her of the ingredients in each dish and guide her on what to order. I had the chicken jhol momo and chitwan ko tass (goat). She had the marsala fries and bara kana set. Each of the dishes was well seasoned. I especially enjoyed the momo, goat and soybeans. The momo had a delightful tangy coconut milk sauce that left a ring of spice on the tongue after finishing. The goat had a good charred flavor. We will definitely make the trek again. read more

We ordered take out. First of all my husband had to sit there an extra 20 minutes for the food. We ordered around 5:30, my husband got there at 6. After the first ten minutes of waiting the guy taking orders told him they were just starting to make the food. While he was standing around another guy walked in for take out. That guy was offered a cup of tea. My husband? Nothing. He didn't want tea, but it would have been nice if they had offered. We spend $45 - on basically no food. The smallest portions. My $13 entree came - the grilled goat and puffed rice. In a container the size of a pint of soup from a Chinese restaurant. HALF FULL. About two ounces of goat on top of puffed rice - picture is being posted. Ridiculous. $45 and basically it might be enough food for one person. I realize food prices have gone up but I am shocked that this place is still in business because the portions were offensively small. I rarely write reviews but in this case it is so outrageous. Never ever ever again. Bad service, miniscule portions and that was before we tried the food! Maybe we should have been happy for the small portions - although a larger portion might have meant a chance of more meat. The meat was all gristle so every single chunk was inedible. The momo sauce was good but the veg momo itself was undercooked and weird texture. My husband got the goat on the bone - it was almost all bone - so gristle for me, bone for him. He did enjoy the peppers - but one dish out of four and again, the quality of service and portions? Not worth it at all. Very disappointing and a total waste of money. read more

My boyfriend and I ordered the garlic naan bread with hummus to start with and it's such a comforting warm food that is a perfect appetizer for two-three. Next we got the Chicken Choila and the Chitwan ko Tass-- it's definitely something we've never really had before but gosh was it delicious. The chicken and goat meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked and the puffy rice, along with the crunchy soybean seeds, were so different and refreshing-- flavor and texture wise!
