I love when I can walk into a store and am immediately met with a plethora of seasonal decor. There's just something about it that brings me such joy. It's not even September, and Michael's has all the decorative items to get you ready for Halloween, Thanksgiving and any other fall celebration you might have. But, that's not what we came here for on this particular item. I was looking for balloons, those big foil number one for a birthday celebration. They have a whole section called the "party shop" and it was easy to find what I needed. The staff were super helpful as well and blew up the balloons there at their balloon bar so I didn't have to buy one of those helium tanks. The balloons were perfect and lasted for hours even with the wind trying to take them away. I really appreciated their attention to detail with the ribbon, making sure they were the same height. I just always have such an amazing experience whenever I run into her there. She ALWAYS has a giant smile, goes out of her way to approach and greet me, and seee how she can help me find something or be helpful. She is ALWAYS so very positive, very sweet personality, extremely helpful, and again ..so very sweet. I leave there smiling every time I encounter her. This is not the normal attitude of everyone. Nothing negative about anyone else but she most definitely always STANDS OUT above the rest. Do not utilize their custom framing services. I came in on a Friday to have 4 custom mats cut. The man working in custom framing explained they were backed up and would have them completed by Saturday. I gave them an extra day, and came in on Sunday. They were not done, and the girl working had no clue what was going on. She said she had to text the man who was supposed to have completed them. She promised me that they would now be completed as a rush order by Monday. At that time, I ordered an additional mat and dropped off 5 prints to be cut to size. All to be completed as a "rush" by Monday. I gave them an extra day, and I came back on Tuesday late afternoon (3:45pm). Nothing had been completed. The man said he was training someone and he needed to wait until they came in to work on the mats. I asked why he couldn't on them, since I was already there? He said he had 20-30 orders, but none of those people had stopped by to pick theirs up yet, and mine was supposed to be rush at this point. He also had no idea I ordered a 5th mat or handed my prints over to be cut. He promised multiple times the mats would be cut within the hour (by 5pm), and I verified multiple times that I would be back by 5pm. So...I show up at 5pm. Nothing had been done. The trainee had not shown up, and the man continued to work on other projects, telling me the trainee doesn't come in to work until 5pm. I asked for a refund, and he told me he could not give me one. It's at this point that the man finally started to work on my order. Within 10 minutes it was done! I had to come back three times for a project that took ten minutes to complete. After finding what I needed, I made my way to the checkout area. There was no line and 3 workers so I waited to get checked out. However these 3 woman did not say hi, did not look over once, and continued their conversation. After a few minutes, one of the girls waved me over to a self check out kiosk (the other 2 girls didn't even bat an eye) and stood there. She did not say hi, she did not verbally direct me to use the kiosk, she stood right behind me and continued her conversation. Ali was very incompetent, I asked repeatedly for help, just for him to forget. We spent 5 minutes trying to find the right key for the security glass. I am a huge fan of the Michaels stores and the Tustin branch is no different. The store is clean and has fancy new self check out registers but the inventory seems to be very low or downright out for an entire aisle at times. Which lead me to the 4 stars. For scrapbooking their paper aisle was cleaned out. HOWEVER, those suckers were 5 dollars which is unheard of anywhere else so I can see why people snatched them up. In terms of service, there was not much interaction with employees outside of the reminder to use the self check out so there isn't much to say about their service outside of their ability to keep the store clean and organized. If you are into scrapbooking, DIY, painting, stickers, beads, etc this place is great and the prices can be reasonable compared to Amazon. They have seasonal rotations and the sales can be stellar! read more

I used to be such a fan of the Michaels stores as our family loves crafts and custom gifts. This isn't so much a review on the store, but the corporate policies. They barely staff the place and expect you to check yourself out. In addition, the inventory is often misplaced or unstocked in certain aisles. Sometimes I come here when the store closest to me doesn't have what I'm looking for. This store is usually pretty well stocked. Although, I feel like their inventory turns over faster so sometimes they are sold out faster. I think the District is difficult to get in and out of so I generally try to avoid going down there unless I absolutely have to. HORRIBLE framing experience! They have ONE person working. What should have taken 2 weeks took OVER TWO MONTHS! 10 days after the pick up date he still did not have it done! So I am waiting for him to frame it because I am NEVER coming back here for him to frame anything ever again! The store is clean and very organized. Had too much coffee/beer/Red Bull to drink before coming to shop? No problem, there is a restroom at the rear of the store. Prices on some items seemed on the high side but many items were on sale on my recent visit. My daughter and i came here during the Christmas holiday season in hopes to find some craft items, stickers and toys to put together stockings and goodie bags for her school classmates, teachers and friends. Sadly we ended up leaving the store empty-handed because we weren't impressed with the store's tight layout and multiple seemingly unfriendly workers stocking the shelves all around us as we tried to look around. We recently stopped by here on the way to dinner. I really wanted to find some matting for a photo I was giving my mom for Mother's Day. I had never been to this Michael's location before and thought this was a big, beautiful store! My son loved looking at all the great art supplies. The selection is wonderful. This store has every size and style of canvas, lots of great brushes, cool sketch books, and a nice selection of paints. My son could have spent hours (and tons of money) here. The only downside came when I started looking for the matting for my mom's photo. While my local store (in Yorba Linda) has a decent selection of pre-cut matting, this store didn't have a single item in the size I needed. The rest of the store had everything anyone would need for scrapbooking or crafting. If I had more time, I could have gotten lost in that scrapbook section. This store had beautiful embellishments, paper, books, and other fun supplies. The home decor and framing sections were great here as well. There were rows and rows of lovely frames. There were also lots of fun items for decorating the home. I really liked all the beautiful 4th of July items. So many cute things to choose from! The service was good here! Our cashier seemed friendly and helpful. This store was also very clean and organized. It's easy to find what you need here. Since I didn't find any employees wandering the store, it's nice to have an organized store to find exactly what you need! I love being crafty. I make handmade gifts for friends, an original Fall wreath every year, my custom flower arrangements are from here..and just about everything else I do or make is inspired by this store. I have a whole section of shelves dedicated to arts and craft related stuff and scrapbooking material so every trip here is special. This time around I was hunting for more inspiration. I recently started putting up my own tree and wanted to see if I could make my own ornaments or give them away as gifts. I was also wondering if I could somehow teach myself how to knit. I think I was feeling especially gifted that day. Don't know what I would knit or do with knitting but hey, I'm always up to learning something new. However this store isn't very well stocked like some of the other stores I've been to. It's also cluttered and not very clean. I bought a rolling cart organizer and got home to find out it was broken. I called the store and they told me to bring it in, and that it was no problem that I didn't have my receipt because they would be able to pull it up on my account. I went back to the store and told her I preferred an exchange because I had bought it on sale and it was now full price. Most of the item was still wrapped and unassembled, so it was very clear that the damage happened while in the box. She was unable to pull up my account and therefore unable to find the receipt. She offered me a refund but said I would have to pay the difference if I wanted an exchange. I told her that it was not my fault that it was broken, and it was inconvenient enough carrying it up and down the stairs to my apartment and bringing it back when I found out it was broken. I definitely was not willing to pay extra money when the mistake was on their end and I had been inconvenienced enough because of it. I then realized I had a coupon, which would bring it closer to the sale price, but she said the coupon wouldn't work on this item. To make things even worse, when she gave me the refund, she said they normally wouldn't do this. I find it appalling that Michael's would sell me something broken and not be willing to make it right. I am grateful that I got a refund, but they should have been willing to replace it without expecting me to pay extra. When I told her that I was going to pass, she said that this item goes on sale frequently and to keep looking out for it, but I don't think I'm comfortable buying something from a place that will not stand behind their products. read more

I would give 0 stars, but it's not an option. This was the WORST curbside experience I've ever had. First, I text the number listed in the email with my order number, name, and which curbside pickup spot I'm in. I receive no response. Then I wait a few minutes. No response. Then I call. They put me on hold and never come back. Next, I go to the employee standing outside to tell her I'm waiting for a curbside order. She radios in. Still noone. Now there are at least 6 people who arrived AFTER me. The curbside girl finally shows up to take the orders of all the people who arrived after me, but didn't bother to bring my order. I tell her my name. She goes inside, comes back with all of the other customers' orders who arrived after me, but not mine. I give her my name again, she finally brings my order. Overall the curbside pickup feature for this Michael's is useless. I sometimes work in curbside pickup for a different company. I'm shocked by how incompetent the employees who run this at this Michael's location are. The only person who made any effort to help me was the black girl with the afro seated outside. The runner and people answering the phones were useless. To top it all off, I just got home and checked my order. Guess what? It's missing items. This place is a joke.
