They feature an art gallery with rotating pieces and large, vibrant murals on their walls and ceilings. A super modern space, where you feel like your in a loft with their high ceilings and comfy chairs. I liked that a lot of their dishes are sharable portions, forcing you to try more dishes and socialize with those you came with. I'm a big fan of family style and sharing food with friends and family. Their food fuses together American and international flavors, while specializing in craft cocktails, beer, and wine. I ended up ordering their ricotta gnocchi. I loved the brown butter and sage sauce. The roasted pumpkin squash was great, especially drizzled with truffle oil. The polenta patatas bravas were a bit too thick for my liking. I found them a bit dry and lacking in flavor but I should've asked for extra spicy aioli which could've helped. Service was amazing. The bartenders were knowledgeable and quick with the pouring. Servers were attentive and frequently checked in on us. I will be back for happy hour and sit at the bar for sure! I came to Whino on a Saturday evening with some girlfriends and we had a great time! For starters, because finding it was a CHALLENGE), you have to go inside the center and head up to the second floor to find it. I wound up calling the restaurant because I was wandering around lost! Once inside the ambiance is really chill. Velvety seats, low lights, fun art.. a vibe!! Food/Drink: Our group opted for one of those shared drinks (Whino punch) that comes inside a beverage dispenser with as many cups as you want. Our group of 5 each got about 1.5 drinks. The only downside was it gets clogged as the drink gets low, so you have to be a little creative to get each and every drop. Shout out to our waitress for helping us with this task!! Regardless, the drink itself was really good. As far as food I opted for the small plates (sliders) and it was perfect for just me. Some people ordered the shared plates for themselves but were also able to finish those. It just depends on what you're in the mood for. Amongst our group, I heard positive reviews about the Wagyu beef sliders, the secret spiced fried chicken, and the lamb ribs. I didn't snag any pictures, but I used the photos from other reviewers to make my decision. Service: Our waitress was amazing and very attentive. My friend and I each got drinks and ordered the oyster shooters, scallop crudo, cheesy polenta tempertots, and wagyu sliders. They were all yummy and the server was prompt and friendly as well. The only reason why service is a 4.5 is because they never brought me a straw for my drink when I asked for it twice. But otherwise service was great. After dinner, I took a look around their art displayed, and while they were individually great, they did not have a comprehensive theme. I cannot recommend this place enough. They have a really large drink selection, including four mocktails which were very yummy. I'm planning to return for some of their flight options. The service was super nice and just the right amount of attentive. We ordered the steak bao buns, the mushroom ragout, the fried veggies strips, and maple something wings. All was delicious. Came here for restaurant week and I love the casual feeling of this place! Seems pretty poppin' during happy hour too but I wanted that restaurant deal. Basically, choice of meat and cheese with charcuterie, appetizer, entree, ans dessert for $35 dinner. For the charcuterie board, I got the wild boar and truffle for cheese. The boar had this Smokey taste which I liked. Also came with bread, carrots, nuts, honey. I liked the nuts which had this sweet exterior with them. I didn't like the carrots though; too drenched in vinegar. The tempertots had the taste of tater tots but texture like grits once you bit into one, which was strange at first but got used to and enjoyed the taste. Having them with the sauce which had a soft black pepper flavour was quite delicious, even though it definitely started to fill me up. The wagyu sliders were great and casual! The wagyu wasn't amazing boujee quality like you may expect but it was still so good with the grilled sides, the bacon and cheese. It was so juicy and meaty - I loved them. Ended with the crème brûlée and wasn't too sweet. The raspberries made the sweetness balance out with the berries' tartness. It was perfect. Overall, it was a great experience and great food for what kind of place it is; it's not the most amazing food in the world but I still think the food is great for what vibes this place gives off. Servers were very attentive, even the ones who aren't assigned to your table. The art here was interesting but not necessarily my type of art. It has beautiful art work for sale and its all over yhe restaurant definitely something to look at. The restaurant offers portions to be shared. Happy hour service at the bar was great. We had the shishito peppers (large serving and great spice) and charcuterie (smaller than we hoped). Where do I start... The serving sizes for happy hour and the regular menu are not worth it. One slider, 4 wings. The wings were not grilled well, the burger was pink, the donuts were disgusting. It took them forever to bring us napkins and silverware. The chicken and grits was ok. Probably the most fulfilling menu item. Brussels sprouts were decent. Gelato isn't hard to mess up. She came back fairly quickly this time with my drink which was good (Peach Juice) while I enjoyed my drink and took in some of the art displayed there, another 30 mins went before the food came. I got the Chicken and Waffles and avocado toast. The Chicken was flavorful but, very small piece. The waffle was mid and had a corner cut from each piece... (Don't know what that was about??) the fruit served with it was not fresh. The avocado toast was garbage... pickled onions!!! Had no clue why!! Now for the good, the bad and ugly about this spot. The Good: it has a nice ambiance, with art throughout the restaurant. They have nights where DJ's play and the drinks were very tasty. The Bad: service was slow, food was not it. When the waiter brought over the charcuterie, he touched each item on the board when explaining what they were which is a bit odd. The two cured meats we ordered had salt bloom/salt crystallization which isn't harmful but makes the meat really tough and hard to eat and therefore not worth how pricey the charcuterie board is. One of the red wines was oxidized and was sour. We went with the other red so definitely not a terrible situation but not great for a wine bar. read more

Ten minutes later, my sliders were cold, but the ketchup still hadn't arrived. I had to ask again before finally arrived another five minutes later. I also asked for a drink that didn't arrive for 15 minutes (the dining room was pretty empty, so it's not like they were busy), and when I asked about it, the waiter said it hadn't even been put in! All-around great guy, I can see this business going far . Came here for a late night dinner on Thursday evening. You would have thought it was Saturday night. Pretty typical but amazing roasted beets and goat cheese just go so well. My friend's got the cheesy polenta temper tots. They were my favorite. For the main course I got the seasonal gnocchi pasta. They were good, but the star of the night what's the secret spiced fried chicken with cheesy grits and a biscuit. Amazing! It was all delicious. The dessert options were a creme brulee or olive oil Donuts. This is the reason for the four stars and not five. They were completely sold out of all desserts and subtracted from our bill for each Restaurant Week order - $5. To make up for the missing dessert. Whino is such a cool spot and Im so glad to have found them! After scouring through the yelp and tiktok reviews, I settled on getting a glass of wine and the famous ricotta gnocchi ($11). My roommate got the charcuterie platter with jamon and truffle cheese for $14. They have a good selection of wines (red, white, and sparkling), beers, and your classic cocktails. Prices for both food and wine are very reasonable and honestly $11 for gnocchi and $14 for charcuterie platter is an amazing deal! The buttery gnocchi paired well with my Bordeaux. I thought it would be too decadent but the saffron vegetable brodo and the veggies made this dish surprisingly light. The gnocchi also had a great texture where it was slightly toasted on the outside and pillowy on the inside. I also loved the crunch that hazelnuts provided. But I felt like it was missing something. For the price though, it is great! The charcuterie came with amazing assortment of accoutrement like cranberry walnut baguette, date mostarda, and the delicious truffle honey. I also love their art exhibitions and the interior design. It feels like Im in an art gallery! The service was phenomenal and our server was able to recommend cheese to pair well with the wine my roommate selected. Whino is one of my favorite newest businesses in NoVA. Like Ryan P said below, the vibes here are impeccable. Usually, when a venue has great decor, the food is lacking. Or maybe the food is great, but service is poor. Or maybe service is quick, but the menu is limited. Not the case here. Not only is Whino very vibrant, modern and beautifully done (from the artwork on the walls and ceilings down to the choice of decor), the food menu kicks ass and the service (shoutout to Brandy) does too. Pair this with the three bars this spot hosts and you've really got a trifecta of a business. You can come here for happy hour, dinner or a late night out with friends. This is very rare for any business, let alone a new one. My recommendations: the Can I Speak to Your Manager cocktail and the polenta tots with the chorizo.
