    Brisket Bake
    Hunter S.

I was surprised when I walked into this spot. Expecting a restaurant, it looked more like a bakery. I thought I had made a misstep, but I actually ended up loving this low key spot! This is a small bites, bar, and bakery. They have some charcuterie boards and snacks and of course baked goods. Their main menu staple are Trinidadian "bakes," like the sexiest biscuit you've ever had, bursting with tasty stuff. The crust is so flaky and delicious. I had the brisket, which was moist and divine. I also had the sweet cambo crispy chicken bake. The flavors were very good, but I'm more of a savory person rather than sweet. This is nothing to do with the restaurant or the dish--it's a me thing. Next time I would personally go with the spinach and Gouda or the jerk chicken bake. I had several cocktails, all different yet refreshing. I had the basil julep, an elevated Kentucky mule. I'm not a whiskey or bourbon person, but this wasn't overpowering or heavy. I also had the spicy fruity combo of the razzle (fruit, agave, lime, jalapeño, ginger beer), and finished off with the good thyme spritz (gin, thyme bubbly), which was an excellent palate cleanser. They have a very cute, thoughtfully curated indoor space (I loved the Brooklyn wallpaper in the bathroom--you think it's old school til you see Biggie and Coney Island). The outdoor space was perfect on a hot day. Cool, safe from the sun, breezy. Service was awesome. She was attentive and fun, gave great recommendations, answered all my questions. The bakes were just 10 dollars each. One bake is about the size of a palm, but is very filling, I ordered two, but one would have been plenty. Most of the cocktails were 14 dollars--super reasonable for any part of NYC. Very walkable part of Brooklyn and a little less than a mile from prospect park. This would be great for solo trips, a quiet couple's date, or anyone wanting light bites and sweets.

okay so I had a bad day. my jaw disc slipped out of place this morning and it'll take me A WHOLE WEEK until I can fully bite down. so I was in a bad mood. this place turned it all around! the food was so good! we got a spinach Gouda bake and a sweet cambo chicken bake and they were delicious. genuinely so yummy. would order 10 more. we also got the wine on tap and the lemon cookies were SO GOOD. staff was so kind! so helpful and nice. vibes were so good. At a certain part of the night they put tea light candles on the tables and dim the lights and it's such a vibe.

This shop is very cozy inside. Don't be fooled by their small entrance, it's longer and there are plenty of seating with small tables, and by the counter. The owners are very kind and friendly. I had their cakes and it was soft and moist and wasn't overly sweet. Their carrot cake had walnuts which I really enjoyed the extra texture. The birthday cake and red velvet is something I can usually get during parties so it's nice to enjoy just a slice. I really enjoyed the icing on the cakes, it was smooth and really tasty. It was quiet and calm, definitely worth a visit to relax.

Stopped in for some evening dessert. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and lighting. It was a peaceful way to end the night with a small group of friends. As a concept, this spot focuses on Trinidadian and Cambodian inspired baked goods and cocktails. One thing that really got me excited about visiting, was trying their bake which is a traditional bread in Trinidad. It is popular and has made its way to some islands across the Caribbean as well. Amazing to be eating this in Brooklyn! Their cocktails offerings are inspired by both of the co-owners respective backgrounds. The combinations were well paired and I found it fun to read through the descriptions. The whisky variety offered are all Women/Black/Minority/Local Owned Spirits. They have a full service bar which has something for everyone. Additionally, Each of us tried a different slice of cake. The flavors we really wanted to try were sold out by 7 PM so definitely go early if you'd like to try things like the German chocolate cake and the upside down cake. I had the carrot cake, which I enjoyed, wasn't too sweet and the slice was big enough to share. There was live music playing while we were there and it really added to the ambience. We met one of the co-owners while there, Chandra. Hope to be back soon!

Came across this business on Yelp and I was so happy my husband and I dropped in. We were in the area and just wanted to drop in for drinks. The food was delicious. It's not the kind of place I would come if I was starving but if you just need lunch or a light bite, you won't be disappointed. I didn't even get to try to dessert so I'm definitely coming back. The service was phenomenal. Brian, our bartender was friendly and social. And the drinks were on point! The ambiance is chic! This bar is women owned and they've definitely styled everything so pretty. At night they had a live DJ and it turned into a party! Apparently there is a DJ every other Friday, will be back in two weeks!

Love the concept behind this spot, a bar where you can get dessert is genius to me just like the name. Came here in a Sunday night just as they were about to close so wasn't able to get the dessert I really wanted but will definitely be back to try out some more if the cakes. The ambiance was very green, many plants lined the venue and made it feel alive.

I love everything about this spot. The decor, the menu, seating and outdoor option are all great but the owners being super nice is the best. All around good time. Also the fact that they have prosecco on tap is an automatic win for me. We ordered: (under $10) Shredded Brisket Bake Sweet Cambodian Chili Crispy Chicken Bake (Both came with jerk plantain chips) Cocktails: Miss Ting Tings (rum punch) Tamarind Sunrise Dragon Wagon (beer) Judean (mezal and served with sour straw candy) Prosecco (Their ginger syrup and bitters are handmade ) The owners, Chandrah and Secoyah, blend their cultures in the menu. Cambodian and Trinidadian. In addition to being women led, Whisk and Whiskey is also a coffee shop and bakery. So there is literally something for everyone. Stop by for a chill vibe, delish bites, outdoor seating and bomb drinks. They are available for private events. Monthly events include a pre-fixed dinner. Pop up events. Half-price Thursdays. Reggae Sundays. Cookies + Cocktails happy hour is additional reason to visit. The lemon cookie is phenomenal. Follow @ifancyny on Instagram for more!

It was hard to find and the location wasn't near much... The inside was cute and played good music. The outside needs to be updated and they need better chairs. When I sat down, a piece of wood chipped off. Their utensils were interesting. You were given real forks and plastic knives. The waiter was very nice and attentive. The birthday cake slice was a bit on the dry side. The double chocolate chip cookie wasn't on the soft side. However, it was tasty. Drinks were good... Basil Julep Whiskey makes a debut with fresh basil muddled with lemon juice & house-made ginger syrup, topped with refreshing ginger beer Queen Bee Aloo Gin, lemon, honey & splash of ginger beer

Whisk and whiskey is a plant filled oasis of pastries, including vegan options (the whisk) and drinks (the whiskey). I meant to take the carrot cake to go, but "accidentally" finished it with my glass of wine, and I don't regret it. Bonus: they're on the Too Good To Go app, so you can basically save the planet while eating cake. #winwin

What a wonderful vibe filled with plentiful food and strong cocktails. I ordered a honey type cocktail while the SO ordered a chocolate whiskey. When we took a sip, oh boy was it strong. Cheese platter was delicious with one Brie and one Brie drizzled over honey and a bunch of small bites in between. Cookies and sandwiches were delicious. Will definitely be back again!

Love this place they serve tea, coffee, beer, wine, and cocktails, which are all really good. I got a chai latte which was delicious. It's just the right amount of sweetness and my friend ordered the birthday cake and that was also really good. They have a number of sweets which look delicious and they have some bites. Most of them seem Caribbean. The music is awesome And gets a bit louder in the evening for that cocktail vibe. it's great to support a female and minority owned business.

I've made it a point to visit every vinyl listening bar that I learn of in town, after enjoying the shared experience of someone curating a select vinyl list in intimate spaces in Tokyo. Few have been able to replicate the experience, but Honeycomb Hi Fi Lounge comes close. That the space is narrow with just a few seats along the bar and a few tables mimics the Japanese experience best, where you can almost have it so the whole room is having one conversation together. The music is the focus. The cocktail menu is rather simple, and my Stormbringer drink, with dark rum and ginger beer was not anything to write home about, but $15 is pretty low for cocktails these days so I'll take it. If they introduced new cocktails to the menu with more interesting ingredients I'd be more inclined to return, but the vibes overall are pretty good and the staff really nice.

Was brought here by a dear friend, a neighborhood regular…read more The cocktail was amazing, selection very diverse- many hard-to-find liquors, etc. Bartender was incredibly knowledgable and attentive. My friend and I each order a cocktail, and are catching up. I'm from Brooklyn, however I no longer live here, and this was precious catch-up time with my friend. Then I get interrupted mid-sentence by the old-timer DJ from his low seat in a corner behind the bar. I had bumped the bar with my wrist (bumped my wrist watch as well, not deliberately) and then placed my hand down (granted- more than placed but definitely not slammed), and he decided to warn me that I COULD HAVE made his record skip. It was the Eagles or Santana (far from eclectic, but that's just me). I'm also 99% certain he turned the volume up afterwards, making it even harder to enjoy the company. After that interaction, I struggled to pick it back up with my friend, because I found that distraction very effing rude. When this "4th wall" gets broken down with service, it is hard to then enjoy the space in an uninhibited state. I am all for the Tokyo Vinyl Bar vibe, and I'm also for also giving talent an outlet to share their collection, but this interaction colored my experience, and I closed out after one drink and went elsewhere. I mentioned this to the bartender, and he was kind to offer a buy-back of a rare whiskey, which I did accept. 5 stars for the bartender, but 1 for my experience. I don't like to be harsh or unnecessarily cruel, but this is what it is. I have visited in the past and enjoyed myself. Nonetheless, I certainly won't be coming back.

They serve oysters, which adds to that aphrodisiac experience of the oh so 'wow this is a former brothel!'. The bartenders and servers were fast and very sociable with the more sociable customers. The immediate entrance is very tight, and it was uncomfortable navigating the space. We expected there'd be more seating in the back, which there was, but it was limited and not offered to us until we asked for it. We honestly had no clue where it would be and only asked because of how this place was advertised. While it was comfy once we made our way back there, it was reminiscent of a lounge style bar space that almost any bar could replicate with the right room and budget. In addition, I've seen a lot of complaints about the volume of the music: it's definitely loud at the front but a lot lower in that back lounge space.
