Popped in for a couple happy hour drinks the other day. It was chill vibes, good music and the owner was bartending. She was so welcoming and it's always nice to see the owner take such pride and care in their place. I unfortunately didn't catch her name but she made the best strawberry daiquiri I ever had. I love supporting a woman owned business. They're also serving up some delightful baked goods. We got a lemon cookie and brownie to go. The brownie had just came out of the oven. Whisk and Whiskey is hands down the best bar and hangout spot in Park Slope. If you're looking for positive vibes, refreshing cocktails, delicious food, and R&B music, this place is a total gem. The playlist alone is reason enough to stop by--it always sets the perfect mood coupled with a cozy drink. They also host a variety of fun events like whiskey tastings, karaoke, and live DJ nights that bring together such a vibrant and welcoming community. One of my favorite things is how comfortable it feels--whether I come solo or with friends, the bartenders are always so kind and make you feel right at home. Every time I visit, I've ended up meeting beautiful people who are also there to enjoy themselves and have great conversations. It's one of those rare places where you can truly unwind, get some work done late with a coffee or cocktail, and not feel alone in the city. Speaking of cocktails--they have really creative cocktails and also mocktails. My favorite is the Magenta Vbyz: super refreshing and perfectly balanced. Their dessert menu is everything too, the cookies and cakes are so unique and they even have a vegan option! Whisk and Whiskey is run by two minority women and I absolutely love the aesthetics and thoughtful details they've poured into the space--it's stylish, cozy, and full of flavor and culture! I was surprised when I walked into this spot. Expecting a restaurant, it looked more like a bakery. I thought I had made a misstep, but I actually ended up loving this low key spot! This is a small bites, bar, and bakery. They have some charcuterie boards and snacks and of course baked goods. Their main menu staple are Trinidadian "bakes," like the sexiest biscuit you've ever had, bursting with tasty stuff. The crust is so flaky and delicious. I had the brisket, which was moist and divine. I also had the sweet cambo crispy chicken bake. The flavors were very good, but I'm more of a savory person rather than sweet. This is nothing to do with the restaurant or the dish--it's a me thing. Next time I would personally go with the spinach and Gouda or the jerk chicken bake. I had several cocktails, all different yet refreshing. I had the basil julep, an elevated Kentucky mule. I'm not a whiskey or bourbon person, but this wasn't overpowering or heavy. I also had the spicy fruity combo of the razzle (fruit, agave, lime, jalapeño, ginger beer), and finished off with the good thyme spritz (gin, thyme bubbly), which was an excellent palate cleanser. They have a very cute, thoughtfully curated indoor space (I loved the Brooklyn wallpaper in the bathroom--you think it's old school til you see Biggie and Coney Island). The outdoor space was perfect on a hot day. Cool, safe from the sun, breezy. Service was awesome. She was attentive and fun, gave great recommendations, answered all my questions. The bakes were just 10 dollars each. One bake is about the size of a palm, but is very filling, I ordered two, but one would have been plenty. Most of the cocktails were 14 dollars--super reasonable for any part of NYC. Very walkable part of Brooklyn and a little less than a mile from prospect park. okay so I had a bad day. my jaw disc slipped out of place this morning and it'll take me A WHOLE WEEK until I can fully bite down. so I was in a bad mood. this place turned it all around! the food was so good! we got a spinach Gouda bake and a sweet cambo chicken bake and they were delicious. genuinely so yummy. would order 10 more. we also got the wine on tap and the lemon cookies were SO GOOD. staff was so kind! so helpful and nice. vibes were so good. This shop is very cozy inside. Don't be fooled by their small entrance, it's longer and there are plenty of seating with small tables, and by the counter. The owners are very kind and friendly. I had their cakes and it was soft and moist and wasn't overly sweet. Their carrot cake had walnuts which I really enjoyed the extra texture. The birthday cake and red velvet is something I can usually get during parties so it's nice to enjoy just a slice. I really enjoyed the icing on the cakes, it was smooth and really tasty. Stopped in for some evening dessert. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and lighting. It was a peaceful way to end the night with a small group of friends. As a concept, this spot focuses on Trinidadian and Cambodian inspired baked goods and cocktails. One thing that really got me excited about visiting, was trying their bake which is a traditional bread in Trinidad. It is popular and has made its way to some islands across the Caribbean as well. Amazing to be eating this in Brooklyn! Their cocktails offerings are inspired by both of the co-owners respective backgrounds. The combinations were well paired and I found it fun to read through the descriptions. The whisky variety offered are all Women/Black/Minority/Local Owned Spirits. They have a full service bar which has something for everyone. Additionally, Each of us tried a different slice of cake. The flavors we really wanted to try were sold out by 7 PM so definitely go early if you'd like to try things like the German chocolate cake and the upside down cake. I had the carrot cake, which I enjoyed, wasn't too sweet and the slice was big enough to share. There was live music playing while we were there and it really added to the ambience. We really wanted to like this place -- impeccably furnished and decorated modern setting, woman & minority-owned (Trinidadian-American + Cambodian-American), close to our workplace/home, cocktails, coffee, AND baked goods -- but there just wasn't enough in the basics to get us to love it. We'll have to come back and try some different things and give it another chance. We came on a sunny Friday afternoon before actual happy hour started. Walking in, you're instantly reminded that you're in a cool Brooklyn-based cafe: there were multiple cakes and cookies in the display cases, the music was setting the right ambiance of hip hop chill, there was a fireplace with some purchasables (cards, whiskey sets, etc.) that added to the decor, as well as your quintessential remote workers, though there was still plenty of seating. There was outdoor space, but unfortunately the tables were all taken, so we settled into the couch space where you first walk in. It's a bit antisocial as it faces the fireplace and your back is towards anyone coming in, but we actually appreciated the privacy. The service was lovely -- the bartender treaded the perfect line of attending to our needs while not being overbearing. We tried a bit of a few things, being that the menu looked so good: strawberry shortcake cookie, raspberry scone, cheese plate, one of the summer cocktails (I think it was a sorrel + gin mix), and the house cocktail Judean. The menu also had beer/wine, mocktails, proper slices of cake, cookies, and a set of bakes that we wanted to try but weren't hungry enough for. Everything was just sort of...okay; nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. The raspberry scone was really dry and without clotted cream, fresh fruit, or jam to accompany, it was a lost cause and we had to stop trying. The strawberry shortcake cookie was kind of the same thing, but at least came with strawberries and said cream that helped. The cheese plate was also okay: brie, goat cheese, two types of crackers, an orange marmalade, and some sliced strawberries. The summer cocktail was fine, but needed something else like bitters to round it our, while the Judean was way too sweet, even after adding some water. Again, all in all, a fine place to try out, but we need to give it another go to make a better assessment. read more

It was hard to find and the location wasn't near much... The inside was cute and played good music. The outside needs to be updated and they need better chairs. When I sat down, a piece of wood chipped off. Their utensils were interesting. You were given real forks and plastic knives. The waiter was very nice and attentive. I am usually in the neighborhood on Sundays; after learning about this place, I was very intrigued and went in try it out. Came here with a friend in the afternoon, ~4pm. Needed a cafe in the late afternoon early evening to do some work and found this gem. Very cute place with a bar. The music was spot on! There was back patio but I needed an outlet. Looks like they have live music at night which I'm curious how that works since its not that big. They had some good snack options. I got the Cambodian crispy chicken bake. I thought there was going to be green onions from what I saw in pictures. That would have been a nice addition. The chicken wasn't crispy as advertised but it was still good. I was mostly impressed with by the bread it was in. It was so fluffy and airy. It soaked up the sauce very well. The plantain chips were nicely seasoned. Had a few drinks and snacks at Whisk And Whiskey on Monday night. A unique spot that has a relaxed vibe and some tasty cocktails. Quality: Finally stopped into Whisk And Whiskey after passing by frequently the past few months. Open during the day with coffee and at night with cocktails, it has an interesting approach. I was pretty happy with all the different cocktails I tried. I started with The Razzle, vodka, raspberries, agave, lime, and jalapeno, which gave it a nice kick. Then I switched to Gloria, which was a delicious take on a strawberry daiquiri. I had a few sips of both the Good Thyme Spritz and the Ginger Spiced Pumpkin Latte, which were good but not my style. For food we had the Jerk Chicken Bake With Plantain Chips. The good was the flavor, the bad was the inconsistent biscuit. One bite would be fluffy the next hard as a rock. It felt like it may have been refrigerated or frozen at some point and that messed up the texture. We ended with a Birthday Cake Cookie, which was excellent. Quantity: Felt the prices were correct for the food and drinks we tried. Value: $12-$16 for Cocktails. $11 for the Jerk Chicken Bake With Plantain Chips. $2.75 for the Cookies. Ambiance: Whisk And Whiskey is located on the edge of Park Slope and Gowanus. It is a cute little shop along Fourth, that I'm sure many folks walk right by. They have a single table out front, but I can't imagine it is anyone's first choice. Inside it is bright and cozy. A couch sits in a little lounge area, and all the high-tops have plush seats. They have some bar seating and it appeared like they had a back patio as well. Music played quietly, as the owners sat on their computers working in the back. Seemed like a nice vibe for people looking to enjoy coffee or a cocktail with a nice book. Crowd: It was just us and one other guest on Monday night. I'm a little worried by trying to cover everything from coffee shop to bakery to cocktail bar, customers may not know what to do. Service: Everyone we met from the staff was fantastic. The girl behind the counter was incredibly friendly and I loved that the chef and owner stopped over to ask how everything was. Parking: Some street parking in the nearby area. read more
