I've been to this cute little spot twice now and I must say my first time there was amazing, the gentlemen behind the bar was friendly and attentive and overall my experience was 10/10! Although I went today and had a slightly different experience. Want to preface that I actually tried the bakes and wine today instead of just a pastry, and the small bite was incredible. However today the only person working at the beginning of shift was a white woman who made it very clear she only cared about the white clientele in the space. She didn't bother to look our way when we walked into the space, and then proceeded to not come take our order for about 20 minutes despite there only being 2 other tables sat at the time. Any time I did need service I had to go up and ask for it. Overall I think the place is great, unfortunately it's always a bit disappointing to find places decked with "BLM" and "stop Asian hate" stickers hiring staff that clearly doesnt care about their POC clientele. read more

Their iced latte is so great and the staff is so friendly. I love going there. The space looks modern and comfy to stay in the morning.

My friends and I were very excited to try this place! At first we had a great experience, but it quickly turned incredibly unprofessional and upsetting. I was there with 4 other friends, all professional women in our 20s. We had arrived around 7, all coming from work. After sitting there for two hours, sipping on no more than 2 drinks each (some of us only had 1); we were informed that were CUT OFF. This was of course very upsetting as we were all practically sober and had come from work, there was no drinking beforehand. When we asked to speak with the manager he was dismissive and would not admit that his employee clearly made a mistake(it was very obvious that we were not drunk). We were not told what the reason was or what "we did" to make the waitress think that we were too drunk to be served. It was incredibly offensive and simply very rude. We were offered a single cookie as an "apology" I guess, when all we really wanted was for them to admit that there had been a mistake and maybe we could have all moved on with our night. I cannot stress how horrible our experience was. Do not support this business. read more

Literally the sweetest employees/owners and cutest place! I stopped by for a quick coffee one Saturday but today came because they were hosting a doggie food truck. My pup got a nice meal and then I stayed for drinks and some of their sandwiches, which both were amazing! I will for sure come back and check other events and more of their drinks out. I can't believe the reviews here are so good. I came here twice, and both times I was really blown away by how poor the quality of the food was for the price, and how rude the service was. The staff is just in a bad mood or something. And the food you get for the price is really terrible. Sorry to be the party pooper but this place is very overrated :( read more

Just tried this place last night with my boyfriend and loved it!! Beautiful space, the service was great, and the food and drinks were delicious and reasonably priced. The bakes- which are their version of sandwiches- were really tasty and only $9, and the cocktails were all under $13 (before tax). I got the Ms Ting Tings and it was just the right balance of strong and refreshing. One of the owners told me that the do jazz every Thursday, which I'll definitely be going back for! read more

I mean, wow. In the spirit of the departed Butter & Scotch, but BETTER, this new spot is that rare and wonderful combo of a fantastic cocktail bar and a showcase for a very talented pastry chef. The co-owners (I hope they don't mind if I nickname them in my head Whisk and Whiskey, respectively) each captain one half of this formula for delicious excess. The cocktail list is wonderfully curated--there's something of a focus on tropical-type drinks, but made with serious attention to detail in the craft liquors used--the rums are artisanal and a gin/honey/ginger concoction was unexpectedly herbal and complex due to the use of Bar Hill gin, a new one on me, and I'm so glad to have made its acquaintance. And then Whiskey made me the best Manhattan I've ever had. Then there's Whisk. I have to admit, in my life I am mostly Team Pie, not Team Cake. The bakery is mostly cakes, with some cookies. I asked for recommendations, and ended up taking home a slice of the birthday cake and a snickerdoodle, two choices I would never have made for myself, but I now understand why they were the perfect introduction to what Whisk is doing. You've never had birthday cake like this. It blows Milk Bar out of the water. Light, fluffy, not too sweet, made with care and insane cream cheese buttercream. The snickerdoodle changed my opinion of snickerdoodles--crispy on the edges, gently spiced, with a delicate crumb. Whisk is also serving up bites at the bar--I overheard that the sweet Cambodian chili chicken bake (for anyone unfamiliar with Caribbean bakes, it's like a fluffy dough bun, crispy from frying, but incredibly light and inside and perfect for splitting to make these sliders that they stuff with delicious things) was the thing to try first. Yup. Amazing. With a really nice patio out back where babies and dogs are welcome (and not a moment too soon after the loss of Mission Dolores) and a very gentle and friendly atmosphere, this place is the unicorn--a lounge for everyone. And also serving my favorite coffee (they have La Colombe on draft) to fortify the caffeine warriors earlier in the day. As a fellow beyhive member how could I not support a business owner whose dog's name is Yonce? They had me there, however the concept drew me in further. I appreciate the mission and intentionality about the business. This place is a jewel. My partner and I are visiting from Philly with our 11 month baby. We wanted to get a cocktail, but did not want a wild environment since we have our kiddo. The spot serves coffee and cocktails so I figured that indicated it could not get too wild. I was right. The place was a chill vibe! The curated R&B list was A1. Cocktails were great. We both had the Basil Julep! We didn't order food, but got the baby the Trinidadian bread by itself, he loved it! I ended the evening with a specialized cortado type of concoction, our waiter Drew made. Drew was a great conversation. I felt safe, I felt welcome. It was a vibe. I'll def be back. A gem on 4th avenue. I came on a Sunday night with my friend and we we loved everything about it. I got the Tamarind Sunrise tequila cocktail first to go with the sweeet chili crispy chicken bake and plantain chips. Then the Anchor and Hope Mendo red wine with the hot chocolate cookie for desert. This is the perfect cafe and I wish I lived closer. I needed some time to kill while waiting for my cat to have a procedure at Blue Pearl vet hospital and found this place through Yelp. Can I tell you that the Brooklyn Bake is the most delicious and perfect breakfast sandwich I have ever had in my entire life. It's so delightful, rich, and excellently executed. It is just one sandwich but I couldn't even finish it but every bite was DELECTABLE. The bake: perfection. I'm a picky picky bacon eater and the bacon was absolutely perfection. I'm from Wisconsin originally so you know I know my cheese and the cheese was perfection. The eggs perfection. But that's not even the best part about this place This joint was friendly without being overly irritatingly perky and chill without being stoner bro. I felt like I could hang out there for hours and it would be a pleasant experience the entire time. That is what I want from a cafe. And they have an absolutely delicious coffee situation and the individual working there today helped me figure out the perfect shot to match with my cafe au lait. Me and my boyfriend were visiting from Rhode Island for a nice getaway and we absolutely loved this spot! The vibe was very chill and relaxed with soft cushioned seats at the table we were at and even a couch and fireplace which was very tempting. They even had books to read by the fireplace in case you ran out of reading material. The drinks were great I had the Judean and Maracas Beach but made with a specialty gin which made it all the more delicious. My boyfriend had the Tamarind Sunrise which I tried and enjoyed despite not liking spicy margaritas. He also had the Maracas Beach with rum which was delicious (I still think mine was better but he disagrees haha). We also had some of their cookies which were phenomenal! We had a chocolate chip cookie, a lemon glazed cookie, and an earl grey cookie all of which were moist chewy and so flavorful. The best part of the experience was our amazing waitress Anastasia. She had such an amazing personality, always checked in on us, and even helped me pick out my second drink. She made a good experience an amazing one. One of the best services at a restaurant I have gotten as she was always checking in on us and never let our drinks go dry! If I lived in NYC this would for sure be a favorite spot for me and I definitely recommend anyone on the fence to check it out you won't be disappointed! read more
