Oh Rise. How I love you so. The absolute freeing feeling being able to grab a quick lunch with my kid (her and I both have allergies) there's just no words. Easily can order online, and be on our way. My kid isn't a big sandwich fan but does enjoy them from here! Don't forget a vanilla donut.

With tons of gluten free pastries and sandwiches, what's not to love? The place is on a gorgeous street in DC with a beautiful ambiance. The bakery is on the second floor, up some stairs, where you will be met with a quaint seating area. The wait can be long at times because of how popular it is, but it's worth it. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about allergies. The menu is thorough on its ingredients. Definitely my go to spot for gluten free foods!

    Mango Lush Bar (Gluten Free)

I've gone here quite a few times to experience the joy of a FULL GLUTEN FREE MENU! Pictured is the mango lush bar (a little small but SO GOOD!!!!!) but I've also tried a cannoli, a carrot cake cupcake, a ginger molasses cookie...I think that's it? I will definitely come back. The storefront itself has two two-person tables so it's pretty small, but takeout is always an option.

    Smoked ham and Gruyére Panini

Totally amazing gluten-free! This is my first time visiting, and I am blown away by how delicious everything is. My husband and I split a smoked ham and Gruyère panini, and a ham and cheese croissant. Both were equally delicious. We couldn't choose a favorite. We got the oatmeal cherry cookie, the eclair, almond croissants and a chocolate croissant. The croissants are among their most popular items, and we can see why. We also got bagels, brioche buns, and rye bread to go. We are making corned beef Rachel's for St. Patrick's Day, and I'm so pleased to find gf rye bread. We will definitely be coming back!

Amazing!!! I had a day off during a work trip and spent the entire day going back and forth between Rise & a nearby coffee shop to work. My only wish is that they had wifi or a larger seating area to be able to hang out there! I had a bagel sandwich for breakfast which was amazing - fresh, a bit crunchy, and flavorful - I didn't love the square eggs, but I know many places mass prepare eggs in that way for sandwiches. I came back for lunch and got an amazing sandwich, plus some sweets to go. The donut, croissant, and cupcake were all delicious! An amazing gluten free find in DC.

I'm a symptomatic Celiac and Rise Bakery is my ultimate dream! Seriously, I've been gluten free for 13 years, and it's such a joyous relief to go somewhere where you don't have to ask questions or worry about cross contamination. Everyone who works here is kind and welcoming. I giggled over some celiac books (pictured--wish I bought them!). I ordered a chocolate croissant, a cannoli, and a pack of jalapeño cheddar buns. The former two were delicious, as expected, the dough on the croissant in particular being flakery and buttery. I have yet to try the buns, but they look divine, and I'm excited to toast them and use them for burgers! Overall, I can't recommend this place enough. Wish I lived closer!

gluten free bakery of my dreams! i'm a sucker for a gf treat & bagel sandwich! staff was so pleasant & absolutely booked with to-go orders. no espresso so that was a bummer but i haven't had an eclair in YEARS!

Stumble upon this gluten free small bakery while walking around Adam's Morgan. I ordered the cheesecake brownie. It was delicious! The staff was friendly and very fast which was great because it was busy when I was there. The inside is pretty small so there is not enough seating, which it is okay because there are a couple of benches outside. I do wish the brownie was a bit bigger is size but other than that, I recommend this place

Vegan avocado toast with bacon on biscuit
    Yvette 'Divie' E.

A gluten free bakery with goods that don't taste gluten free?! Oh yes! Food: For breakfast, I devoured the vegan avocado toast - with bacon added - on a biscuit. It was delicious! I also took a chocolate croissant for later, which I've never seen gluten free; it was heavy and had a baking powder-like taste every few bites (maybe it's taste better warmed?). I did take a few bites of the cinnamon roll, which was much better. Service: Friendly, patient, and non judgmental as I oo'ed and aah'ed over too many choices! I took off a star because we didn't know there's no seating (which is tough for a tourist in the rain!), the chocolate croissant wasn't my favorite, and the dairy free options were very limited. On the last point, it's probably a blessing because I'd have come more often if that was the case! A wonderful find during this visit!

I have always ordered here from doordash but never actually went. It's cute inside but not a lot of seating only about 4 chairs. The employees were nice and fast. I got the cheesecake and lemon bar but I have had the sandwiches, cupcakes, apple turnover, Yule log, tiramisu, vanilla donuts and probably some other things. I thought everything was good especially since I don't have a lot of options for gluten free baked goods. I have had hit or misses but overall I have loved every baked good. Only reason it's 4 stars is because I have had things I don't like but that could be my palette.

The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance of Parisian cool and casual, making it an excellent spot for a mid-morning, work-ish get-together. I stopped in around 11:00 AM. Since I was already over-caffeinated for the day, I skipped the coffee and opted for the Martha Stewart spritzer with mint. It was exceptionally lovely and refreshing. For a midday breakfast, I ordered the omelette with spinach, roasted red peppers, and feta cheese, which came with a delicious green side salad. The execution on the food was excellent, and while I didn't grab any pastries this time, the entire display looked incredible. The staff were incredibly kind and gracious, upon learning, it was our first time there give us a humongous cookie! The only downside is the standard neighborhood reality: Georgetown parking is a notorious pain, but you know that going in. It is well worth the effort for the quality of the food and the environment.

First of all, the woman with gray hair and several tattoos was beyond obnoxious to us and she should have a talking to by management. It wasn't busy when we were ordering, and we had a few questions because it was our first time there, and she was just nasty about...everything. Why she works in customer service is beyond us. Let's talk about what we really loved: the hibiscus karkade and mish mish soda nonalcoholic drinks were so delicious. They were refreshing without being too sweet, which was perfect for the swelteringly hot day. The levantine pickles were interesting and a good crunch start to the meal, but the smashed cucumbers were just gross. You could tell that they had been sitting for a while (possibly over a day) because they were slimy and mealy and the whole thing was drowning in liquid. You got zero taste of the scallion oil. The hummus was great, as was the lamb leg "cheesesteak," which was completely unique and special. Finally, the shatta batata were also quite original, and we appreciated the spices and insanely-addictive dipping sauce. Here's what we hated: the hummus, pickles, and cukes were all served in to-go containers. We get that this place is casual, and maybe it makes sense for the veggies, but the hummus container had literally HALF of the dip carved out--and it cost $10! We feel like we got what we paid for with the $22 "cheesesteak," but the tots (served in a bag) were $13. The pricing just seemed way off for what you actually ended up getting... ...which was especially the case with the two soft serves that we tried, the baklawa labne and the tahini oat. They were wonderful and creamy and, again, unique, but with the added surcharge and the (undeserved) tip, they came to over $25. We're kind of a mixed mind about this place. Like, some dishes were really, really good, but the value was not there and the service was beyond off-putting. Not sure if we'll be back again. Maybe.

We were sat down quickly since it wasnt crowded for a sunday evening. The servers were helpful with the menu. We ordered about 10 minutes into our visit. We ordered appetizers to include Taiwanese popcorn chicken, spicy wontons, and cucumber salad. We also ordered our meals, too. A beef lamen, pork soup dumplings, crab and pork soup dumplings, and I originally wanted the fried chicken curry lamen but he talked me against it due to spice level and I opted for the sake chicken, per his recommendation. The soup dumplings came out abt 15 min later at which I was told that the cucumber salad was sold out and asked if I wanted anything else. I passed since I had ordered the popcorn chicken already. My friend wasnt a fan of her pork soup dumplings and didnt finish them at all. She stated a severe lack of flavor. The crab/pork ones were a hit for the other friend. I cant eat pork nor beef, so I was still sitting and waiting for my popcorn chicken appetizer to hold me off a bit. About another 20 minutes passed then the beef lamen came out for one friend and then an order of the curry lamen. We were confused on if this was our actual order until he realized that he wrote down the wrong dish for me after I explained that he told me to get the sake chicken instead. He apoligized but by this point, I hadnt had food in roughly 6 hours, I was starving and asked to keep the wrong order, please. He refused and said he would get me the correct item because it's just in the back. Keep in mind that the spicy won tons were still missing and so was my popcorn chicken. About 10 minutes later, the spicy won tons finally made it and she enjoyed them more than her pork soup dumplings. Then the other server comes to tell me that there is more cucumber salad. Im not sure how we go from sold out to availability nearly an hour later but I still refused since I was ready for my main entree at this point. The other friend ended up ordering it instead. She said it was good. I didn't try out of frustration of how this experience was unfolding for me. My entree finally came out after another 15 or so minutes, which meant it acrually was NOT sitting in the back and ready. Im exhausted. Im starving. Ive sat here and watched my table eat while my orders were fumbled for some odd reason. The sake chicken was okay. Its really like katsu chicken with a ton of yum yum and eel sauce over a bed of rice. Best way to explain it. I probably would have enjoyed the original curry dish more. About another 10 minutes later, my popcorn chicken arrives, which beyond upset me because I asumed this order wasnt put in at this point. It had been over an hour! I gave it to my friend instead after trying one and not enjoying the flour-heavy taste. I'm not sure if this was an off night or what but I cant say that I will return just from the sheer time it took to get our orders! An hour and half was beyond ridiculous when the place wasnt even full. No one explained the delays nor came to give us updates while we were waiting, either. I gave them a star for the food being half enjoyed by some of my party and another for pricing because it really wasnt expensive, which was a plus. If you have hours to spare and dont arrive hungry, check this place out!
