Once or twice a month, they host a fun guest Mixologist for Mixology Monday. These gratis classes run from 7 to 9 p.m. and include how to's for cocktail classics and tips on home bar techniques. Limited edition Metallica whiskey. I needed this before my travels. They carry it. The customer service was top notch. I'm not sure if the guy who rang me up was the owner, manager, or whatever. He was very kind. That's all it takes, be nice, take my money!! He offered to wrap it in bubble wrap. He also gave me travel tips. I was short on time so I didn't look to see if they had MY spirit of choice. I'll go back and see if they're consistent with the customer service. read more

This is an amazing wine and spirits store off of 69th and 2nd Avenue in UES. I popped by because they were engaging in a complimentary wine and whiskey tasting after grabbing dinner down the street. I had a chance to taste (and later purchased) a fantastic bottle of rose, and Widow Jane was also sampling some of their boutique bourbons as well. WJ sells for upwards of $134/bottle so it was pretty impressive getting a chance to do a complimentary flight... though it was a little out of my price range. As for the rest of their inventory, it's carefully curated and has a ton of great products you don't always see in other wine and spirits stores. Things like Zu Buffalo Grass Vodka, Hangar 1 Chipotle vodka, Hop Head Vodka from Anchor Steam, and much, much more. I know I just rattled off a bunch of vodka but rest assured you'll find everything from whiskey to cordials to sparkling wines amongst their powerhouse of options. Best of all, the prices were very reasonable. If you're the home bartender type, I highly recommend you pop by if you're in the 'hood. read more

I wouldn't be able to think of a complaint about this place if I tried. I'd rank them right up there with Ambassador and City Wine, my 2 favorite local wine stores. The selection here is unique. There's nothing more annoying than the run-of-the-mill wine/liquor store that only carries the brands I avoid (i.e., Yellow Tail, Naked, Skinny Girl). In addition to the variety of wines here that I have only seen in a few other stores, the prices are very, very low, especially for this part of Manhattan! This store is my go-to when I'm in the mood for an affordable, high-quality Chenin Blanc or Gruner-Veltliner! Here, you can get 2 bottles of good wine for under $25 after tax. As always, I have to throw in my 2 cents about the customer service. I'm always greeted by a friendly bunch, and they are always able to point me in the right direction when I want to try something new and ask for a suggestion. They do have wine tastings (I believe on Fridays and/or Saturdays between 7 and 9 PM, but don't quote me), and they also have free delivery! I bought a bottle in-store and took it home. Opened it and it had gone way bad. I called and they offered a delivery exchange right away. Replacement bottle was in my hand in just about ten minutes! Incredible customer service on top of an amazing selection and great prices! read more

I found this place through a whiskey tasting email sight I belong to. The event was great it was for a distillery in Virginia great rye. While in the whiskey/wine wonderland I was enchanted, by the selection, the store keepers and the friendly neighborhood clientele. I loved how informed and friendly this place is. They've totally got me hook on white port. It's a shame that the MTA is doing construction on second between 70th & 68th. The shop is totally blocked. However, you owe it to yourself to seek it out guaranteed to find a treat. I live in Woodside and I make the trip. read more

Browsing Yelp for a wine store after a particularly stressful week of classes at Hunter. Owner was great and very knowledgeable. I was a little apprehensive after reading reviews for other stores in the area where people were treated like shit by pretentious shopkeepers. Thankfully this wasn't the case here. Not pushy and respected my price point. Gave me suggestions with background info I found helpful and interesting. Super chill owner only made cooler by the kilt he was wearing. Owner Juan is extremely knowledgeable (he's studying for the Master Sommelier test!) and friendly, and introduced me to several wines from regions that I haven't tried before. Who owns this place? I'm new to the area and I've had the misfortune of going in here twice now and I won't be back. Not only are things way more expensive than they need to be but they have some of the rudest most laconic staff I've ever encountered in NYC. This is the kind of service I expect from teenagers working at McDonalds. The staff is either busy talking amongst themselves or when you go to pay for something they just bag up your purchase, take your payment, slide everything across the counter to you, never even acknowledge you are even there and certainly not say thank you! The first time I asked for a receipt because there was no price on the bottle and I was shocked at the price I was charged, the woman was equally shocked that I wanted a receipt! There are too many places in the neighborhood to spend your money, spend it someplace more consumer friendly! read more

I love going to this wine / liquor store. They have a great range and selection of wines in all different price levels. The employees are always offering to help you make a selection, but I've always been happy with every wine that I've brought home from this place. Went to buy some wine as a gift. The male store clerk was very helpful and polite. He dropped off the wine at the cashier, as I waited in line to pay. Now the reason I rated 2 stars is the cashier, some girl skipped me in line dropped off her bottle to pay, then the cashier grabs my bottle and groups it up with the girls bottle, almost as I was invisible. Then she keeps confusing whos bottle was whos. There was only me and this girl waiting.Then she proceeded to ring up the girls bottle, granted, the girl apologized for skipping me in line but proceeded to pay ahead of me. Overall a good experience up until going up to the cashier. read more
