At the end, he also curated his own whiskey flight for us to try. We had two other brief waiters who came to drop off our food and they too were friendly. Food (brunch): For an appetizer, we ordered the candied bacon which honestly was the best bacon we've had. It was thick with a good combo of crispy and chewy. It wasn't soggy nor overly sweet, just perfect. For our main course, we ordered the breakfast sandwich which consisted of BEC w peppers, garlic-basil aoli on an everything bagel. We needed a place to come to and not worry about the stresses of this day. This was the place to do it. From the ambience to the food it was such an awesome service. Order the smoking old fashioned. Its $20 but so worth the experience! My wife was in her glory with her pork steak and said the fries were the best shes ever had. I had the steak and gruyère sandwich that was generic and disappointing but hit the spot. And the service.... We were greeted by a really welcoming hostess (didn't get name but tall and blonde). She was fun and even took our water order and served it to us. Never seen that before and more places should do this. Our server Caleb is easily top 3 of the servers we have ever had. Friendly, joking and very accommodating. His recommendations were spot on and after finding out about my wife's drinks tastes gave her the perfect drink. We also have to mention Lucky. I visited Whiskey cake a couple years ago with some friends while we were in town. I was back in town for my bachelorette party and while looking for a brunch spot, I remembered Whiskey cake and knew that this was the place to go! We had such a wonderful experience the first time we went, and I knew that it would be a great spot for my girl friends and I to return to. I was a little nervous about trying to make a reservation for a group of 20, but they accommodated us with no issue and no strings attached. Our server was fantastic. I wish I could remember his name, but he took care of all of us by himself which if you've ever been a server, you know that is a pretty impressive thing! Everyone raved about their food stating how awesome it was and how they didn't know what to choose from the menu because everything sounded so good. This restaurant is located in the outskirts of the mall. It's our first time here. It's a pretty spacious place with outdoor seating. They have an indoor and outdoor bar. They have plenty fans that allowed us to eat comfortably outside. We started with an Espresso Martini and the Spinach Artichoke Dip from the happy hour menu. Both were delicious. For our main entree, we ordered the Wood Grilled Salmon, Chicken and Waffle, Bone-In Pork Chop. We enjoyed and loved every dish we ordered. All savory, well seasoned and cooked perfectly. I went here for brunch as a part of a party of 20 for a bachelorette weekend. It was a great experience. Our table was set up and waiting for us. Our server (Tyler??) handled the table like a pro. We got bottles of water and glasses for everyone right away. Everyone's food came out at about the same time. Checks were split and paid out with ease. He took pictures for us and even got a chair for a better angle. All the food was delicious and fairly priced for the area. The chile butter potatoes are a don't miss and I was told the giant cinnamon roll was to die for. They have an extensive whiskey menu (naturally) and lots of tasty cocktail options. Had a lovely brunch date here with my kiddo while shopping at International Plaza. We didn't have a reservation on a beautiful Saturday around noon, but we were able to get a table right away. The patio is so cute, with some hydroponic gardens and a little herb garden, but the inside had the A/C going, so we were grateful for the cooler air inside. Since it was noon on a Saturday, we were able to enjoy the brunch menu. My kiddo had the chicken melt, which was HUGE, and she really liked it. I had the crab Benedict. The hollandaise sauce had a nice little kick to it, but the crab was kind of "fishy" tasting, so I kind of drowned it in lemon juice and that made it better. The poached eggs were perfect. We both had the chili butter potatoes for our side, and they were SO crispy and delicious. We didn't save room for dessert, but wished we had - the signature whiskey cake looked delicious. read more

So Whiskey Cake has been on my bucket list FOR YEARS and I'm so happy to have finally gotten around to getting myself over there as I'm now on the market to go somewhere else for cake (and let's face it, I a new dinner spot). Very shortly I was greeted by my wonderful server Amber. She told me all about the restaurant which had me even more excited to come here for dinner. She also gave me great recs for drinks. Being that it was a SUPER HOT day I went for a non-alcoholic drink (because I barely drink) and Amber recommended Ruby Slippers, which is basically a strawberry basil lemonade. OMG SSSSOOO refreshing, and when I dumped my water into the glass to get more of the flavor it helped quench my thirst. For my appetizer, their fried green tomatoes. Generous portion, lightly breaded and crisp, practically a tempura. Came with a thick dipping sauce with dill that was rich and refreshing all the same. For my dinner I went with the steak salad. Normally I don't do salad for dinner unless I'm unimpressed with the menu, but that was not the case here, rather I just wanted to eat a little lighter. I thought the steak salad would be a great choice. What impressed me with it is that it wasn't overly large like salads tend to be at other places, and had a great variety of ingredients including shaved gruyere. My steak was cooked PERFECTLY (I went with medium rare). The portion size was PERFECT and I could see myself eating this on a normal lunch day. And of course, I've saved THE BEST for last. The major reason why I came. Their signature namesake dish. WHISKEY CAKE. I was pretty fully at the end of the dinner, so I got it to-go. Turns out, it was smart move so I could pair with coffee and really take my time enjoying it. This is some SERIOUS CAKE. Tastes like dreams and toffee with a little bit of a kick. Moist yet dense with a hearty toffee and molasses taste to it, it comes with a side of vanilla cream cheese drizzle that I poured over the toffee and pecan covered top. It was PEFFECTION. This restaurant has been on my wishlist list for a year and I'm glad I finally had the opportunity to go. The location is excellent- since it's in the Westshore mall there is plenty of free parking and other things to do/see/shop nearby. Our server, Elijah, was absolutely amazing- friendly, professional and helpful without being cloying. He did little things like wrote friendly notes on the receipt and the to go boxes. I especially liked that he asked if I was ok with all the ingredients in the food I ordered because it ended up that the menu didn't mention pork was in the gravy and I don't eat pork. I was here for a book club meeting and it was one of the few restaurants we met at where the music wasn't loud and I didn't feel the need to yell. The food was delicious . I ended up getting the chicken strips and waffles and everything was well seasoned and tasty. I ordered an alcoholic drink (can't remember the exact name) it was tasty and they did not skimp on the alcohol . We stopped in on the 4th, as it fell on a Saturday night for a long weekend and I didn't feel like cooking or doing the normal hotdogs and burgers thing. Place was not crowded at all as International Plaza had already closed at 6 and it was a holiday. We were greeted immediately and easily grabbed two seats at the bar. We've been here many times before. I wanted a Skrewball peanut butter whiskey but can't believe they don't carry it. I had their deviled eggs app. They were good- a little surprise of blue cheese, would have liked to know what was in it before I ate it, but apparently they change the ingredients all the time. For dinner, I chose the Rotisserie Farm Bird. The sauce it came on was good, but the breast was really dry. I used all the sauce on the plate for it, but I could still barely eat it. I had to ask a waitress passing by for some ranch (a trick, I learned to eat my mother-in-law's chicken). Of course the thigh and drum were better because they always are. The veggies on the plate were green beans, carrots, pearl onions, and potato. I don't know why people don't like their vegetables cooked anymore, but I don't like crunchy green beans. The carrots weren't exactly crunchy, but they weren't exactly cooked tender. They were definitely a weird texture. The (large) pearl onions were OK, but I would've preferred actual pearl onions rather than these that were kind of like the size of a shallot. The best thing on the plate was the potato and of course, not enough of it. I am diabetic so I did not try the whiskey cake. I'm sure it would have been delicious. read more

Value: I got upcharged because I guess I asked for the large steak (I wasn't aware there were sizes) and my full bill after tax and tip was $70. I ordered one of the most expensive things on the menu (~$35), but it felt like a bit of a rip off for that to go up to $47. Atmosphere: The restaurant was huge with an outdoor bar area. Came to international Plaza to get some new Apple Powerbeats Pro two earbuds. After I got my buds I decided to get something to eat since it was around 2 o'clock. I walked over to the restaurant area and decided to stop in to a new place, whiskey cake, kitchen and bar. I had no idea what the menu was, but decide to give it a try. As you can see from the menu on Saturdays and Sundays it's mostly a breakfast menu at this time. I decided to try their mimosa flight and the goat cheese fondue as an appetizer. The mimosa flight is pictured and it comes with the one is OJ one is cranberry one is grapefruit and one is pineapple. The glasses are a decent size for a flight. They were pretty good and I might get a second. I think for my main course I'm a go with the Dutch, which is slow roasted beef, smoked Gouda, caramelized, onions, and peppers on a with garlic aïoli on a roll. The goat cheese fondue came out and is in the pictures. It is served warm with some little tomatoes and olives. The spread is flavorful and rather light. The toasted bread is warm and crispy with a little softness in the center. It is definitely something I would get again. while eating the fondue, I finished off the cranberry mimosa and started on the grapefruit mimosa. I must say that the grapefruit one was my least favorite. Oh, that was quick thank you The Dutch came out rather fast. I still haven't even finished half of the fondue. Tasting the Dutch that the meat was very tender, and the Gouda was not overbearing and was sort of hidden in the background the caramelized onion seem to overtake the Gouda. All about it was a good sandwich the fries they were average at best. All in all I would get both of these dishes again. Only complaint I have about the place was it was dark. I had dark wood furnishings. The lights were low and at my age I like it a little brighter when I'm reading the menu and eating my food.
