This restaurant is located in the outskirts of the mall. It's our first time here. It's a pretty spacious place with outdoor seating. They have an indoor and outdoor bar. They have plenty fans that allowed us to eat comfortably outside. We started with an Espresso Martini and the Spinach Artichoke Dip from the happy hour menu. Both were delicious. For our main entree, we ordered the Wood Grilled Salmon, Chicken and Waffle, Bone-In Pork Chop. We enjoyed and loved every dish we ordered. All savory, well seasoned and cooked perfectly. One of the best pork chops I've ever had. Our waiter, Dylan R., was very polite and attentive. He gave us his recommendations and they were all a huge hit. So Whiskey Cake has been on my bucket list FOR YEARS and I'm so happy to have finally gotten around to getting myself over there as I'm now on the market to go somewhere else for cake (and let's face it, I a new dinner spot). Really, I came for cake, but I stayed for...everything else. I got good vibes upon visiting here with my pup Muffin. The folks at the hostess stand were super welcoming and seated me right away. Very shortly I was greeted by my wonderful server Amber. She told me all about the restaurant which had me even more excited to come here for dinner. She also gave me great recs for drinks. Being that it was a SUPER HOT day I went for a non-alcoholic drink (because I barely drink) and Amber recommended Ruby Slippers, which is basically a strawberry basil lemonade. OMG SSSSOOO refreshing, and when I dumped my water into the glass to get more of the flavor it helped quench my thirst. For my appetizer, their fried green tomatoes. Generous portion, lightly breaded and crisp, practically a tempura. Came with a thick dipping sauce with dill that was rich and refreshing all the same. For my dinner I went with the steak salad. Normally I don't do salad for dinner unless I'm unimpressed with the menu, but that was not the case here, rather I just wanted to eat a little lighter. I thought the steak salad would be a great choice. What impressed me with it is that it wasn't overly large like salads tend to be at other places, and had a great variety of ingredients including shaved gruyere. My steak was cooked PERFECTLY (I went with medium rare). The portion size was PERFECT and I could see myself eating this on a normal lunch day. And of course, I've saved THE BEST for last. The major reason why I came. Their signature namesake dish. WHISKEY CAKE. I was pretty fully at the end of the dinner, so I got it to-go. Turns out, it was smart move so I could pair with coffee and really take my time enjoying it. This is some SERIOUS CAKE. Tastes like dreams and toffee with a little bit of a kick. Moist yet dense with a hearty toffee and molasses taste to it, it comes with a side of vanilla cream cheese drizzle that I poured over the toffee and pecan covered top. It was PEFFECTION. Loud location! Stopped in for Sunday brunch a few months back. It was crowded and loud. Our waiter was just blah, just doing his job but he could have been friendlier. The food came out pretty fast. It was ok nothing amazing that I would return honestly. The drinks were good and whiskey is just whiskey.... Strong! The cake was good. Very sweet so you can't eat a lot at once. We sat at the outside bar, The Old Fashioned Bar. Alex was our bartender and he was amazing! We both had a Frozen Old Fashioned, and they were so good! I tried the Wabbit Smash, which was gin based and made with fresh carrot juice and ginger and that was delicious! It was a great time and Alex made it even better with his knowledge of the different Whiskeys and his upbeat and positive energy! And among the extensive choices of Whiskeys they have a private barrel with Elijah Craig that you can only get at Whiskey Cake! That's pretty cool. Had a lovely brunch date here with my kiddo while shopping at International Plaza. We didn't have a reservation on a beautiful Saturday around noon, but we were able to get a table right away. The patio is so cute, with some hydroponic gardens and a little herb garden, but the inside had the A/C going, so we were grateful for the cooler air inside. Since it was noon on a Saturday, we were able to enjoy the brunch menu. My kiddo had the chicken melt, which was HUGE, and she really liked it. I had the crab Benedict. The hollandaise sauce had a nice little kick to it, but the crab was kind of "fishy" tasting, so I kind of drowned it in lemon juice and that made it better. The poached eggs were perfect. This restaurant has been on my wishlist list for a year and I'm glad I finally had the opportunity to go. The location is excellent- since it's in the Westshore mall there is plenty of free parking and other things to do/see/shop nearby. Our server, Elijah, was absolutely amazing- friendly, professional and helpful without being cloying. He did little things like wrote friendly notes on the receipt and the to go boxes. I especially liked that he asked if I was ok with all the ingredients in the food I ordered because it ended up that the menu didn't mention pork was in the gravy and I don't eat pork. I was here for a book club meeting and it was one of the few restaurants we met at where the music wasn't loud and I didn't feel the need to yell. The food was delicious . I ended up getting the chicken strips and waffles and everything was well seasoned and tasty. I ordered an alcoholic drink (can't remember the exact name) it was tasty and they did not skimp on the alcohol . I love this spot! I think I come everytime I'm in town at this point lol. It's a cool place with great service and food! I was out Christmas shopping and decided to stop in for dinner. Julia was our server and she was very friendly and helpful. Started out with the goat cheese appetizer and it was delicious.! I could have stopped there lol. So creamy and warm and full of garlic. Mmmmm I had the salmon and my husband had the turkey chili. The salmon had a bit of spice but it was perfect for me. Cooked perfectly at medium. If you want a more dry cut, ask them to cook it longer. I prefer the medium cook. The Turks chili was good. A little sweet for me. Overall: I went here while on a work trip. This restaurant is situated in a bit of an outdoor mall area, but the inside feels like a stand alone place. The food and service were both good, though the food ended up being on the expensive side. I'd go back if i'm ever in the area. The fries were a little bland, they didn't really have any parmesan flavor. The shishitos were a nice touch but I wish there were a few more. Drinks: They have a very extensive whiskey menu. I ended up just ordering a beer, but the menu was kind of thin. Service: My waitress was very friendly and checked in on me frequently. I was one of her few tables but I got plenty of attention. Value: I got upcharged because I guess I asked for the large steak (I wasn't aware there were sizes) and my full bill after tax and tip was $70. I ordered one of the most expensive things on the menu (~$35), but it felt like a bit of a rip off for that to go up to $47. Atmosphere: The restaurant was huge with an outdoor bar area. It was dimly lit with individual light fixtures on each table. I seemed like a bit of a family restaurant with an old time tavern feel. I'm pretty sure that's why I liked the entire meal so much. Knowing the food is fresh makes such a difference in the experience AND taste. I got the French Onion burger with the house chips. The chips could've had a little more flavor. ALSO THE BUN. DO YOU SEE THAT BUN!? So many restaurants neglect giving the bun the stage time it deserves. I mean, it just makes sense. Came to international Plaza to get some new Apple Powerbeats Pro two earbuds. After I got my buds I decided to get something to eat since it was around 2 o'clock. I walked over to the restaurant area and decided to stop in to a new place, whiskey cake, kitchen and bar. I had no idea what the menu was, but decide to give it a try. As you can see from the menu on Saturdays and Sundays it's mostly a breakfast menu at this time. I decided to try their mimosa flight and the goat cheese fondue as an appetizer. The mimosa flight is pictured and it comes with the one is OJ one is cranberry one is grapefruit and one is pineapple. The glasses are a decent size for a flight. They were pretty good and I might get a second. I think for my main course I'm a go with the Dutch, which is slow roasted beef, smoked Gouda, caramelized, onions, and peppers on a with garlic aïoli on a roll. The goat cheese fondue came out and is in the pictures. It is served warm with some little tomatoes and olives. The spread is flavorful and rather light. The toasted bread is warm and crispy with a little softness in the center. It is definitely something I would get again. while eating the fondue, I finished off the cranberry mimosa and started on the grapefruit mimosa. I must say that the grapefruit one was my least favorite. Oh, that was quick thank you The Dutch came out rather fast. I still haven't even finished half of the fondue. Tasting the Dutch that the meat was very tender, and the Gouda was not overbearing and was sort of hidden in the background the caramelized onion seem to overtake the Gouda. All about it was a good sandwich the fries they were average at best. All in all I would get both of these dishes again. Only complaint I have about the place was it was dark. I had dark wood furnishings. The lights were low and at my age I like it a little brighter when I'm reading the menu and eating my food. Highly recommend the fried green tomatoes, goat cheese fondue, and BLT toast. I had the short stack of pancakes very tasty! nice touch they serve with real VT maple syrup! Low salt and low anything else even after we mixed the egg in. The parm crisps it came with added flavor but there was about 5 pieces for the entire dish which definitely didn't balance. Dropped in for dinner on a Wednesday night, place was maybe half full but plenty loud, which I guess is to be expected for the area. Sat at the bar for a quick dinner. Impressive whiskey selection as the name would suggest, but the prices are up there for anything remotely allocated. I opted for a maple spiced old fashioned and wasn't overly impressed. For one I'm not sure I buy the 2oz of whiskey in a drink bit, looked a bit lean if you know what I mean. Second and more importantly, regular ice cubes as opposed to a single large cube, I mean come on. Service was pretty prompt, although I did have to ask for a water. Ordered the bone in pork chop and honestly that's the reason for the rating. Incredible flavor, perfectly done and well seasoned. The root vegetable ensemble that accompanied it was also unique and well done. Bonus points for having a bucket of 6 diff hot sauces if you want to add a kick, spoiler alert they're all flavor focused so even the hot "ghost" wasn't very hot. I always go into the mall restaurants with reasonable expectations. This meal was much better than we expected. The deviled eggs this season are a play on chicken Caesar. The egg itself was well-executed but the Parmesan "crisp" on the top was stale so it wasn't crispy and was just tough. Fun idea though, and will give a new seasonal option a try next visit. The fried green tomatoes with remoulade were fresh, perfectly battered, and the sauce was a nice balance of cream and acidity. I tend to steer away from chicken at restaurants since it's usually just as good as I can make it at home, but something in the description of this rotisserie chicken dish on the menu caught my eye. I'm glad it did because it was crispy and charred on the outside and juicy on the inside. Combined with the roasted veggies and jus I was filled with warmth, and also very full of this very generous portion. My table enjoyed their tavern burger which was exactly what you hope to be served when you're simply craving the perfect burger. There was some confusion about if they were serving brunch or not. I had an amazing experience! The managers and staff at this location all need a raise ASAP! I had a little snafu with my reservation because someone in my party was coming with service dog but the staff was very helpful and accommodating. That person didn't end up coming because in order to keep our party of 10 together they would've had to have the dog inside and she didn't want to do that which I totally understand. A few people in my party arrived early and were seated right away which I love because I hate when you have a reservation and they make you wait until everyone is there. Our waiter let us know that the wait for the food was taking longer than normal which I appreciate. I got the crab Benedict which was tasty but I wish it came with more crab. My sisters ordered the chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits and they were both delicious. My other sisters food was taking a bit longer so the manager comped a drink tower for them which I feel like is unheard of. Visited Whiskey Cake with my mom on Saturday night. I had the Thorns & Roses zero proof juice which tasted exactly like a spicy margarita. We tried the seasonal deviled eggs which were so tasty considering my hesitation since they were a take on a fried green tomato but it was pickled and had great flavor. My mom had the grilled shrimp on a house salad and I had the steak frites. The steak frites were phenomenal!! Our server, Anastasia, was fantastic. Her knowledge of the menu and sharing how menu items were locally sourced made our choice that much better for dinner. The food and drinks were pretty good and their signature whiskey cake was delicious as usual. We made a reservation for a party of nine last Saturday and when we arrived, we were seated pretty quickly. One server came and took our drink orders and was gone for a period of time before a second server came by to take our food order and then asked us again what we would like to drink. It appears the first server never put in our drink order which caused a huge delay in us getting those. It seemed like the second server didn't really want to say what had happened but we kind of figured it out. That was disappointing but we didn't let that dampen our fun. In the end, we had a great time and it seemed as though the group enjoyed their meals so we will call it a win.
