    Food was fabulous!!
    Essence S.

In Tampa for a family reunion and was looking for a restaurant with an ambiance we could relate to and came across Mangos Southern Kitchen. On arrival we noticed the crowded parking lot(glad they had valet $10) and assumed the food had to be good. It was Sunday, and we were not aware the place closed early and reservations were best. We had an hr wait, which was fine. As we walked in there was live entertainment on the bottom floor and a dj on the rooftop. This was my kinda place. The staff were nice and the food was amazing. I got the catfish, mac and cheese and collards. Omg and the cornbread, was sweet goodness from heaven. Every plate I saw looked fabulous, large portions. I would comeback again and again and again. We will be back on our next visit to Tampa.

My friend recommended we visit Mangos for their brunch. He'd heard about it and wanted to check it out. I'm glad we did because the food was so good and the service was amazing as well. Paige was our server and was very sweet and welcoming. She greeted us and offered to go over the menu. She checked in on us periodically and was very pleasant to deal with. Parking wasn't horrible. I ended up street parking but they also offer valet for $10. In my opinion that was unnecessary but I liked that they had the option. The space itself is a bit tight but they do also have an upstairs space. Didn't get to check it out as we were seated downstairs but it sounded like a vibe. We really enjoyed our time at Mangos and will certainly be back. The brunch had some great options and the food was very well seasoned. For as busy as it was, we got our food pretty quickly.

Mango's Southern Kitchen and Bar was mediocre during my recent dining experience. I visited on Sunday morning for brunch. I was immediately greeted at the hostess stand. Once seated I ordered a pineapple lemonade, which was too sweet for my liking so the bartender offered to water it down for me. I then ordered the creole shrimp and Gouda grits as my entree. Shortly after ordering my dish came out hot but very poorly plated (see photos). I quickly realized the few shrimp in the dish were sautéed and not fried and I informed the waitress that I wanted fried shrimp. She took the plate to the back and returned stating that unfortunately they can't fry shrimp for this dish. Although, the menu says grilled or fried. I said "ok" and decided to give it a try. The dish was ok but nothing memorable. The cornbread they serve with/before your meal is a HIT! That cornbread is best part.

Nice spot with great vibes. There's dining downstairs, upstairs bar area, and upstairs patio. My party sat upstairs with the bartender as our server. The bartender was nice and informative but a little busy, which led to a little slower service. The Soul Rolls were surprisingly really good. The Lemon Pepper Shrimp was a great pick. The shrimp were huge, hot out of the fryer, and flavorful. However, the BBQ Jerk Chicken was a miss. The portion size was good but the chicken wasn't grilled or tender. I'm guessing it was baked. It was lacking soul. We enjoyed listening to the R&B music playing over the speakers. We also heard the DJ's music on the patio that was equally entertaining. I'd go back to try again.

I really wanted to love Mangoes Southern Kitchen & Bar based on the reviews and the overall vibe presented in those reviews, but unfortunately my experience didn't match the hype at all. We had a 3:00 PM reservation and weren't seated until 3:25 PM. After being seated, we didn't receive water until 3:49 PM, which already set a strange tone. While we were waiting, multiple tables around us were seated and served food, including a table that arrived after us. By 4:22 PM, we still had no food. It didn't arrive until 4:32 PM. When the food finally came out, it was incorrectly distributed between our group. Sides were missing, one person appeared to have someone else's side, and one entree (fried whole snapper) was undercooked. The mac & cheese tasted like mustard mixed with plain macaroni, which was very disappointing. The only consistently good part of the experience was the drinks. Our waiter genuinely tried to make up for what was happening, and I appreciated his effort. He even mentioned that he wasn't originally supposed to be our server, which makes me think there were staffing or management issues going on, but that's just an assumption. What stood out the most was the overall energy. From the moment we walked in, the hostess didn't smile and looked at us like "why are you here?" We felt ignored for a long stretch of time while others were clearly being taken care of, which was confusing and uncomfortable. Overall, it was a very weird and disappointing experience, especially given how many great reviews this place has. I'm not sure what was going on that day, but it definitely wasn't what I expected.

Went here for my birthday great little vibe, service was fast, food came out fairly fast. The waiter was nice, asked questions did what needed to be done I think his name was marc maybe but he was also training a guy named Jaylen (names could be totally wrong) I ordered the lamp chops, with mashed potatoes and mac n cheese. I was not disappointed the lamp chops were nice and tender, the sides were nice and hot. We also ordered the eggrolls which honestly I was not a fan of the taste just didn't do it for me and the sangria was on point!!!!

If you want a table on the weekend, make sure to book at least a week in advance because they fill up quick. When you think of delicious food in Tampa this restaurants needs to be mentioned! I only tried the soul rolls which was delicious and flavorful in itself, and based off of that I would say all of their rolls are good. For an entree, I went with the Caribbean peppered steak which came with rice and peas. I was hesitant on Thai at first but after taking that first bite of the steak I knew my taste buds would love me after. The rice and peas *chefs kiss* The vibes are also on point. Throughout the day they have music playing and later in the night they have a live DJ playing old skool songs that made night just right.

My sis said she saw this place on TikTok and it was imperative that I experience it. Opened at 3 pm on Friday and we arrived at 3:30. Parking lot was full and all tables were reserved, so we had to sit at the bar. Bartender was very helpful and bubbly. Told us best dishes and drinks. She was right on for all suggestions. Drinks were sweet with a lil punch of alcohol. Soul rolls, cornbread, yams, red beans & rice, mac & cheese, and oxtails were amazing. Snapper (head on), cabbage, and collard green dip were good enough. The vibe is also amazing. Beautiful decor, great service, & delicious food made for a great, productive experience. Would def go back with a reservation next time.

I have to say it's certainly a vibe when you walk into Mangos. It has a touch of modern decor with a southern flair of hospitality. There are two bars in the two story restaurant (one up and one downstairs). The music takes you back to the early 90s and 2000s where you reminisce with friends or your loved ones how long it's been since you heard said song. The staff was amazing from the moment we arrived. We didn't have reservations, but they were able to accommodate us quickly. So make sure to book that reservation! The food... delicious! I was so pleased to see the menu and ranges of dishes they offered. We had the Cornbread, Lamb chops, and the Soul Rolls. I would definitely recommend this charming spot if you want good vibes, great food, friendly faces and that southern hospitality. We will be back... this time with reservations! lol

The food, the cocktails, the service and the ambiance are all excellent. My ONLY criticism is sometimes the music can be a little too loud for conversation, but this isn't always so. I'm a cocktail geek and have made multiple trips to The Aviary in Chicago. Believe me, The Aviary has nothing on the Tanto bar program. Cocktails are unique, creative, and delicious. Food was amazing, whether omakase or á la carte. Staff is attentive, fun and playful. Chuck and Nick anchor the beverage service while Tony and Ari will make you feel at home. If you are lucky you may get a visit from Chef Cody. Standout drinks: #1 is Seoul Food. Think the savoriness of a Bloody Mary but without tomatoes. Hard to describe but don't miss it! Other highlights include Opposite Day, Memory in Bloom, and Three Way. Season of Again pairs beautifully with the oysters. I hate to say I have a favorite restaurant, because I choose different places for differing needs, but Tanto has won my heart and tastebuds.

I choose the cocktail called Opposite Day- Japanese whiskey, sweet Sauvignon Blanc, salted wine and roasted beets- twist on a whiskey sour but flipped! Oysters were light and fresh and the juice in the shell was precision clean. It really pops the flavors of the oyster. Yellowtail jalapeño handroll- it is designed to be eaten similar to a taco. As patient as I am, this was the most absurd dining experience we've ever had. It's a shame because the food wasn't bad. The staff was apologetic but their honesty, that service would be slow for whatever reason they had going on given we had four little kids with us, would have been much appreciated. No one came to our table to take our drink order, so we just went to the bar to order instead. There were more bartenders behind the bar than customers at the bar and none of them assisted the servers with table drink orders. It took half an hour to order appetizers afterwards, then another half hour to order entrées. We didn't have utensils at one point to eat the food we got, food orders came out incorrectly, the tables weren't cleared when dessert came out, and we had to excuse the entire table to head home with the kids as it was 10pm and we still hadn't received the check we asked for 30 mins prior to dessert coming out. The only reason we were still there when the dessert came was because we ordered it with the pre-fix entrée and we couldn't get anyone to bring us our check so we could leave. This was a manager problem, not a staff problem. I could not imagine leaving my staff in such disorganized distress over dinner service on a Saturday night.
