Himes Breakfast House was a fantastic breakfast spot! I ordered the Belly Benny, and it was absolutely outstanding. The crispy pork belly was perfectly cooked, the poached eggs were spot on, and the roasted red pepper hollandaise took the whole dish to another level. It's one of the best Benedicts I've had. My friend had the Morning Bowl, made with vanilla Greek yogurt, granola, fresh bananas and strawberries, topped with honey and their house-made blueberry poppy maple syrup. It was fresh, beautiful, and just the right balance of healthy and indulgent. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, and the service was warm and welcoming. I thought we would love it, but we ended up finding it just OK. This is a super popular spot. We came at about 9 AM on a Sunday and there was a 15 minute wait. A lot of people bring their children here and it makes sense that they're here early since children wake up early. They also have a really cute treasure box with prizes for the kids, so if I was here with my family, I probably would bump this up a star. However, I was here with my husband and our couple friend. The decor is beautiful. I love how bright and cheery all the decorations are. Parking can get difficult, it seems like they have just enough parking for the amount of people there. The food is what I found just OK. I got their yogurt bowl, which I guess I can't really expect to be wow'd by a yogurt bowl, but I found it to be fine. My options were limited since I don't eat pork and a majority of their meat is pork. They do have a chicken sausage, but looking at pictures. It looks like the casing may possibly be pork so I decided to avoid it just in case. I also got their cold brew, it didn't come with any cream or sweetener or anything to add. I probably should've asked for some, because I found the cold brew to just be OK. My husband got the chicken pot pie and said he expected more chicken in it. I think our overall feel of the food was it was fine, but not great. I won't run to come back here, but I also wouldn't be opposed to someone wanted to. I think that's the definition of three stars for me. Price is super reasonable, this meal will not break the bank. read more

A colleague and I stopped in for a Sunday breakfast. The place was busy with families but the wait was less than 10 minutes. There were plenty of staff and no delay in getting served. A coffee pot was left at the table with a half and half in a small creamer. I chose the blueberry pancakes and a side order of sausage patties. The pancakes were good-not the best ever- and topped with blueberries and a drizzle of blueberry compote. Blueberry flavored syrup was too thin. The sausage patties were also thin and likely out of a Sysco box. My friend built an omelette from egg whites and added spinach, cheese and tomato. He substituted fruit cup for the potatoes. My pancakes were well executed, and what pushed this to 3.5 - could have been a 4 with hot grits - was the fact that they provided heated syrup. I can't recall anywhere I've experienced that. Here is what we got; $14.00 Waffles - not fully cooked and straight out of a box- not fresh- hard parts throughout from freezer burn. 2 slices of bacon (this was fine) "smash burger" is NOT A SMASH BURGER AT ALL. Patty's are also frozen from a box and a traditional smash burger is paper thin- not 1/2 thick. And it was not fresh- definitely a frozen patty. Wife and I came to this location Sunday excited to try it out and we were not disappointed. The layout is open and airy with plenty of seating. The service was very good even considering it was busy. The food we had was some of the best breakfast we have had. I had the southern benedict with grits and my wife had eggs, grits and we shared a couple of pancakes. First of all, their grits are the real deal. Absolute best we have had anywhere. Likewise their pancakes are fluffy, yet flavorful with just enough density. Their coffee bean syrup offered with regular syrup is a great compliment to the pancakes. The sausage gravy on my benedict was equally good. All in all, a great breakfast. We asked a few questions to which most responses were just "no" and although they advertise that they can accommodate gluten free, your only option is naturally gluten free items like eggs and protein. The restaurant was very clean and had such a cozy, welcoming vibe, making it the perfect spot to sit back and enjoy a great breakfast. I ordered the Lumberjack, and everything came out great. The eggs were cooked perfectly and placed on top of the mashed potatoes--not cooked together--but honestly, it still worked really well and tasted amazing. One thing I really liked is that you can sub the biscuit for French toast or pancakes. I chose the French toast, but the Lumberjack is so much food that it was honestly hard to even get to it . The Lumberjack Bowl had nicely flavored potatoes and eggs cooked to perfection. The Good Morning Pancakes were delicious. They came with banana and strawberry slices with blueberries sprinkled over. They also came with blueberry syrup complete with whole blueberries in it. The restaurant looked like a breakfast place but had beautiful paintings on the wall. Well... What a great little restaurant. I think my wife was hesitant about going here because she thought it served "simple food" -- she thought kind of like IHOP. This is far better than IHOP. I don't care how hungry you are -- Do not order this if you are alone. You cannot eat the whole thing. This is definitely a shareable plate. Thankfully, my wife was with me. I stole a small section of her breakfast and gave her half of mine. We still took French toast home as we still couldn't eat all of it. My wife got the chicken fried steak. To be fair... Just regular. It's hard to mess up chicken fried steak. It wasn't exceptional, but it wasn't bad either. Just good. Now the biscuit... It's a good biscuit! They have some fancy syrups as well... They tasted like syrup to me. I can't really give it a good or bad. But all in all the food was fantastic. Last... The price. The price is pretty good. I don't say that often enough. My French toast was actually more expensive than my wife's country fried steak surprisingly. But, both breakfasts were under $15 each and in truth 2 breakfasts could feed 4 people. Service here was outstanding. We waited about 10 minutes for a table on a late Saturday morning, so not too bad. It was difficult to find parking in their little lot, so be prepared to do a few laps while you wait for a table. Our server was super friendly and attentive. I noticed this was a family owned restaurant and was glad to see them doing so well! For breakfast, I ordered two eggs with breakfast potatoes and bacon.
