Whiskey Hill Saloon inhabits the space that many other bars have been in, however I think it's going to stand the test of time. The previous bar was Howie's (I think), and served a very small menu that was below average bar fare. Whiskey Hill Saloon looks like a small town bar, but looks are deceiving. The owners have really made Whiskey Hill Saloon gorgeous inside - don't get me wrong, it's not a fancy place. But the food? Really good. The wings are decent, but you can get those anywhere. Go for the beef on wheck - my mom's favorite that I think she could eat every night when we're in New York. She says it is one of the best she has ever had. One night I had the burrito which was just average, and that's the worst item I've had to eat or drink. The pizza is better than any chain. Any sandwich I've had has been wonderful. Food and drink are very reasonably priced, especially for good food. The best part is by far the service. Once you've been in a few times, they treat you like a regular and remember you. They remember my friend, my mom, and I from last summer! (I also enjoy being in a bar that has cowboy hats all over it, but having a conversation about both Lil Wayne and Social Distortion with two employees). The servers and bartenders are all so friendly and very fun - they all seem to really enjoy being there. There are different drink specials every night - I was pretty happy to have Southern Tier on draft as I grew up in that area but now live in Cleveland. We visited Whiskey Hill on a cold October evening for dinner based on a recommendation from a local resident. This is a family run establishment with great, home cooked food. The selection of appetizers on the menu was surprising, at least 15 to choose from the the fried green beans and pickles we ordered were great. I had the pot roast which was excellent. Everything was homemade, down to the gravy which surprisingly had a little "kick" to it. My husband ordered the fried shrimp, which came in a delicious Cajun butter sauce that was phenomenal. Our portions were very generous and the drink specials we ordered were delicious- hot caramel cinnamon vodka in a mason glass mug. The restaurant was decorated in an all-out Halloween theme which was entertaining for kids and adults alike. The waitresses (who are the owners) could not have been more attentive or helpful with their recommendations or service. The other reviewers have mentioned waiting too long- there is a sign outside before you enter which clearly states to expect to wait an hour after you sit down before your meal is served. This is because they make all of their meals fresh and from scratch. Even though the bar and restaurant were packed when we visited, we did not have to wait an hour for our delicious food. My favorite wings in Western NY! I highly recommend ordering their Garbage Chard wings. It's a mix of all their sauces (sorta like a tangy BBQ with a little heat) and Chard a little before serving. Reasonably priced, easy off street parking in lot. read more

I used to frequent this establishment for years, however recently it seems as if the owners have started to get Greedy. The size of their famous chicken wings are not what they used to be and the price has gone up, as well as the cost of a beer is a bit high in my opinion. When I asked if there was Pepsi or Coke she said Coke so I asked for just a water. She brought a Coke. I then asked for a water which never came. To start off the parking is awful. However this was a Friday night and I understand that they were busy. They have a little parking lot and it is impossible to find a spot. We entered through this little door that was also an exit so it was ver congested. The restaurant itself was very small, making it very cramped. The check in was very confusing. You had to walk to one end of the restaurant to write your name on a chalkboard that didn't even show the chalk very well, then walk back to the door and wait. There were Halloween decorations everywhere. They were actually obnoxious. While you waited for a table in a small cramped hallway for literally 50 minutes, a yelling skeleton decoration shook the entire time. Very annoying. Along with people walking through because this was again the only entrance and exit. There was also a fog machine in the waiting room that produced an odor. I was starting to think that this was a haunted house. On top of the fog smell, I also smelt smoke from people smoking outside. Not appetizing. The Bathrooms are ones that only allow one person at a time. Instead of having a speaker to call your names, they have a waitress yell over everyone. Also, while we were waiting, two waitresses squeezed by us and were swearing with kids around. Once we were finally seated, they put us at a table near the entrance and people were standing right next to us while we waited. It was a very uncomfortable experience. The table was also very small for the 5 of us. The waitress was very pushy and talked over you as you attempted to order. One of the props actually interfered with one of us while we were eating (I'll post a picture). There was literally a live spider on my shoulder that probably came off one of the unnecessary Halloween props. After all of this they don't have Dr. Pepper. Nice. They had one of those empty squirt bottles of ketchup that was a pain to get anything out of. The refill for our drinks took 22:14.62 minutes. The bill also took a while to come back. One positive I'll give this place is their wings but it really isn't worth the hassle. Overall I wouldn't recommend, and might go back only on a slower night. read more

My husband and I stopped here on our way through town and had pretty low expectations. We were pleasantly surprised. Fish Fry was the evening special and we both ordered it with coleslaw and fries. My husband is from England and actually commented that the fish and chips were like the ones they get back home! Nicely done! We went for a lemon cake with two coffees for dessert and the cake was moist and flavorful while the coffee was ok! The interior is actually quite quirky and fun. The food was good, your typical bar grub. The service on the other hand was horrible. The waitress was rude and dismissive. When we finished dinner we were not even offered dessert. Instead, the saloon staff started running the vacuum cleaner right next to our table even though it was only 9 pm and they were supposed to be open for 3 more hours. Wish I would have seen some of the other reviews re: takeout to-go orders taking way too long past when they were promised. I don't recommend coming here unless you want your time wasted. We ordered 3 menu items (taco/side of fries, burger, sandwich) on a Saturday night. Ended up being told an hour wait. We arrived 5 minutes before they were due to be picked up. Stood in the hall between the bar and seating area waiting. Waitress/bartender had my mom pay and then told us "it would be right out". We kept standing. I asked after about another 10 minutes and again told "they are boxing it right up". We had waitress/bartenders wizzing by us. I had another come out and say "You are waiting for a take out right?" and when I said "Yes, it has been close to 30 minutes past the time", obviously annoyed, she touched my arm (don't touch customers, please) and goes "Well, actually it was due at 7:30 and it is just about 7:50 right now so not 30 minutes" as if that made it right. We were not happy. A lady came out who I assume was the manager (possibly owner) in a cowboy hat and apologized to my mom said it was coming and thanked us for being patient. She herself brought the food out 5 minutes later, apologizing again. It was now after 8pm at this point. She did make my mom feel better at least. We ventured a guess they don't even start making it until you get there. Our food was hot after the 15 min drive back to Jamestown and not like it was just being kept warm. At the very least, I would refuse to pay unless I can see the food boxed up in front of us. We actually wanted to leave, but had already paid $30+. The food was actually not bad, but not amazing, I got the burger (bacon blue), which weirdly had American cheese on it. My dad said his beef on weck was too thickly cut and not that tender. Nothing except fried veggies, plain side salad, or cheese pizza for someone who doesn't eat meat, too. From standing there, it seems very unorganized. No hostess, so people just write names on a chalkboard. Unclear how table seating in the bar worked. Seemed like some people just came in and took tables. They should have some dedicated waitresses and some bartenders; they all were running back and forth. With this kind of service, I rather give someplace else my business. Edit: Received a Yelp "compliment" from the owner as a way to respond to my review. They basically blamed the wait on their small kitchen and that they might not do takeouts on weekends (maybe a good idea if you are making people wait that long....) If you have a small kitchen, then you have to be selective with the menu. Don't make a promise to a patron, expecting food in a reasonable amount of time if eating in or with a specific time indicated for a take out. That is not my problem, especially when I am ordering pretty simple foods. If you only have so many friers, don't make wings available when you have fish fries, etc. It is a pretty basic restaurant management. read more

I want to start out by saying I love whiskey hills food. The wait staff is fun and it's a really great environment. That being said I have gotten take out twice now and both times they have gone about a half hour over the time they say to come pick up the food. I thought it was a fluke the first time so I didn't think much of it. In general I don't mind a wait for food because I understand the kitchen gets busy. But when you tell me to pick up my food in forty-five minutes I'm not expecting to sit at the bar an additional half hour waiting. This small town restaurant and bar delivers on ambience; it's cleverly decorated with hundreds of white twinkle lights. I've been to this establishment twice and it's always busy and bustling--a great sign for a local place. The menu is fun and they serve great chicken wings. Warning: their extra hot sauce is an accurate description--almost a bit too much for me. We also love the onion strings--thin and crispy. The drinks are large and reasonably priced. In both of my visits, the service starts out strong, but slows considerably as you finish your meal. Visited the Whiskey Inn a few weekends ago during a family trip to Cassadaga. The Inn is your typical local bar, but with fascinating decor! They were still decorated for Halloween and we loved it! I ordered a marg and chicken fingers. The fingers were just ok, I think I was mostly turned off by the fact that there was a bottle of Hunt's ketchup on the table. I am a Pittsburgh girl, and this isn't acceptable to me! But, to each her own. Our service was great too. I was a little worried because the place was packed, but she had everything under control. We all enjoyed our food and we left happy! If we go back to Cassadaga again (hopefully!), we will certainly hit up Whiskey Hill again! read more

Food is great!! Garbage charred wings were awesome!! Beef on Weck was good. Only issue we had is was there were NO REFILLS on soft drinks or iced tea. We were charged 2.50 for each. Iced tea is the cheapest drink to serve next to water!! That's just wrong in my opinion. My friend even had about half a glass of Coke left and told the waitress she might as well fill it up while she was getting our other refills and she got charged another 2.50!! I love going to Whiskey Hill on Fridays with my family. It's usually pretty packed and do beware, you may wait a little while for your food. With that being said, the food is well worth the wait. Wait to be seated, wait for a menu, wait for your order to be taken and then it will be at least an hour for the food. For a party of two at least an hour and a half.
