I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was impressively bad. I sat at the table for roughly ten minutes without so much as a greeting, a menu, a glass of water, or even an acknowledgment that I existed. During that time, several staff members were clearly visible socializing, hugging guests or coworkers, and carrying on as though the restaurant were hosting a private reunion rather than operating a business. There is nothing wrong with a friendly atmosphere. In fact, hospitality should feel warm. But warmth becomes negligence when employees are more interested in mingling with familiar faces than serving the customers sitting directly in front of them. The most frustrating part was not simply the wait--it was watching the staff demonstrate that they were perfectly capable of being attentive, energetic, and engaged, just apparently not with everyone. The place felt less like a professionally run restaurant and more like a social club where actual customers were an inconvenient interruption. After ten minutes of being completely ignored, I left. I cannot comment on the food because no one ever bothered to offer me any. A restaurant does not need to be flawless, but acknowledging a seated customer is the bare minimum. The food was ok, the regular fried and sweet potato fries were the best part. The fish tacos and Lo Mein were on special so don't expect them all the time. The fish tacos had good flavor but mostly lettuce. No one was really wowed by the food, it was mediocre. I added some photos bc I like to reference when ordering and there were none on their page so I took as many as I could. The ambiance was so-so. The music playing was very pop, not what we expected for a place called "Whiskey Tavern". We werent upset about it, just didn't fit the vibe really. It was really cold, most of us either kept or put our jackets back on. The server was really nice and attentive, she apologized because she thought our food was taking too long but we were so into our conversations we hadn't noticed so we weren't bothered by it, and she kept our drinks full so we were happy there. All in all we would go here again if someone said "hey meet us at Whiskey Tavern" but I don't see us going out of our way to go here. read more

Between allowing your patrons to try and bully me, verbally attack me, then your bartender taking the side of the patron, further escalating the situation by calling the cops then lying and saying I was intoxicated, leading to a sobriety test when I declined drinks numerous times because I don't drink. Then the manager, Amber, who has used a racial slur two months back as she was at my table, taking the side of the bartender and patron instead of handling this, then me seeing from these reviews that she has previously been accused of being racist to customers in the past.... I hope people find a better place to support because you all don't deserve any business. Visited on 7/13/2025. Arrived mid-afternoon when there was little business. Seated ourselves and waited and waited and waited for the waiter. Placed our order then waited and waited and waited. It was close to an hour before our food was brought to the table. My wife ordered nachos, what she received was a plate of half warm nacho chips with hardly any cheese or other topping. It was a plate of nacho chips. My wife mentioned it to the waiter and had him take the dish away, having eaten no more than a couple of chips. The waiter conferred with the manager (bartender) who came to our table and said that since my wife ate most of the chips she could only discount the meal. We were not asking for any discount. We made that fact clear to the waiter. Instead we got a manager who chose to be confrontational insinuating that we lied. The confrontation ended what turned out to be a disastrous meal date. With the type of attitude shown, we will certainly not be returning nor recommending this place to any of our friends. Just visited Whiskey Tavern for second time in two weeks. My husband and I we're traveling back to NH after traveling to Massachusetts for the day. We we're excited to see the Whiskey Tavern also has take out. This time we tried the Caprese and Crisp Cobb salads. With sirloin steak tip toppers. My husband also ordered the hand battered chicken toppers with hot honey sauce. He has become addictive them. Super juicy whole chicken breast meat with a light crunchy batter coating. The restaurant was clean and staff was nice, but that's all that was good about the place. The staff tried, but were just not great at doing their jobs. They frequently forgot things and were slow with their service and it was not busy. The food was not really good. We tried multiple different things and everything we tried just wasn't good. It all tasted like frozen appetizers and food you would get from the grocery store. We met the owner and his wife and they were super nice and friendly people, but the owner was telling us he didn't really have restaurant experience and that definitely showed based on how the business was being ran. We arrived to a pretty empty place, around 4pm on a Friday. We waited at the front desk for a while - there was no sign to seat yourself. We caught the eye of the bartender, and she gave us the "one minute"...so we waited. Eventually someone came over and said, "just sit where you want". That would have been nice to know instead of standing there for 10 minutes. Our waitress was nice enough. She came right over and took our drink orders. There were no prices on the drink menu - not even for beer. I ordered a cocktail and my husband ordered a beer. The beer menu was bleak. No craft beers, or anything different that mostly Bud varieties. A bit disappointing. The drinks came fairly quickly. Mine was served in a rocks glass and was tasty, but I think that Fireball was in it - it was very cinnamon forward, and the drink I ordered DID not have cinnamon in it. The waitress came back and we ordered an app and our mains at the same time. We got the steak and cheese egg rolls (6). It was over 20 minutes before the app came out. They were overdone (very dark and over-deep-fried). No sauce. No plates. But - we were hungry, so we just ate them. When we had one left, another person came by and brought the dipping sauce. Welp. Our mains came out after that (~15 mins later) and we asked for some water which had not been brought over to the table previously. I ordered the chicken parm. The chicken was a standard portion (one chicken breast) and was cooked well - it was juicy and not overdone. The cavatappi was overcooked and mushy/watery. The sauce was okay, but it wasn't like a sauce really - more like canned dice tomatoes. Lacked flavor. My husband got the steak tips and asked for them to be medium rare. They were WELL done. He ate them...we didn't want to send them back and have to wait another 20 minutes for the main. He was disappointed with the quantity - especially given the high price for the plate. They came with fries with some melted cheese on top (he paid extra for that). When the bill came, we were a bit shocked. My cocktail costs $16 and his beer was quite expensive too. Yikes - I wish the prices were on the menu. I don't mind spending around $9-10 for a small cocktail, but $16 was a bit excessive for my drink alone. Overall, the cost was over $100 for the two of us, not including tip. Again, our waitress was nice enough. I feel like that place is best suited for the boat owners to pull up and grab a beer and be on their merry way - rather than someone who is looking for a dinner option. They weren't that busy, and didn't look understaffed, but the place is spread out a bit (bar downstairs, patio, and then main dining with a bar as well) so maybe they were spread too thin. read more

This place has great potential and it's unfortunate that the staff is rude. We've given Whiskey Tavern a few too many chances since they opened and it hasn't gotten any better. There has been several times where we will sit down and no one comes over to offer service - a simple "someone will be right with you" would be better than being ignored. The food and drinks are good but the staff does not make it worth it. I will say, one staff member named Eric (if I remember his name correctly) was wonderful and made our experience great. Okay, so let's start with some positives. The restaurant setting was cool and had plenty of outdoor seating for eating by the lake on a sunny day. I liked the bar setup for watching a sporting event. The fried pickles were also good. But, unfortunately, the service and main meals were subpar. I got the Buffalo chicken Mac and cheese and my girlfriend got the Cobb salad. We waited quite some time for our food and my meal came out cold and hers came out incorrect. I normally wouldn't care, but cold Mac and cheese is not appealing, especially when I'm paying $24 for the meal. My girlfriend asked to sub grilled chicken for the turkey and no blue cheese crumbs on the Cobb salad. The salad came w/ turkey and blue cheese crumbs. After telling the waitress the order was wrong, she hesitantly said she "can" have the kitchen remake the salad. We had already waited for too long so my girlfriend just removed the turkey and crumbs. When the check came out, not only was the salad on the check but she also tried charging us extra for grilled chicken ($18 plus $8 for protein). It's one thing to not comp an incorrect meal but it's another thing to charge someone extra for something they did not receive. It was awkward asking the waitress to remove the grilled chicken charge (hoping she might also comp the salad but whatever). This place is promising and has great potential, but their food, prices, and service will continue holding them back from being a staple in the area. read more

As a local I came in with modest expectations. Hoping that by now they worked out the kinks of being a new place and that they would be a solid spot to hit up for dinner/drinks. The menu and drinks look nice - BUT - what ruined my experience? A couple of things. (1) the smell at the bar upstairs was as if it was just mopped with dirty water. The scent of dirty sink water continued to grow throughout my stay at the bar. (2) the bartenders (mostly gals in their 30s) do nothing to limit the excessively noisy local guys (age 60-70+) who were loud nonstop for 45+ minutes at the bar screaming shouting cursing like an episode of sons of anarchy or a celebration at the local Elks lodge. It annoyed literally all of the other customers at the bar as we all made eye contact together. Mind you, this was 730pm on a Wednesday. Bartenders ignored them. Literally 3-4 gal employee just kept complaining about other problems in their personal lives and who has 5 kids now, random silly problems, etc. Of this was "cheers" then Norm would ran out into oncoming traffic by the 3rd episode of season 1. Let's just say, I won't be coming back here. Locals would have a much better time at Dox on Winni or even the 405 pub. Hell, I'd rather go to Shooters, where even though the bartenders are 20 years older, at least they know how to make a solid bar experience for its patrons rather than the amateur hour experienced here. This glorified version of Tower Hill Tavern is an unfortunate swing and a miss in my opinion. Hopefully things improve in the future. read more

I have been here twice. The first time was a relatively good experience on a beautiful autumn day. I had the lobster roll and it was decent. Service was also quite good during this visit. We had lunch here a few weeks ago and both the food and the service had gone downhill. We sat downstairs at the so-called beach bar. Worst restaurant ever-we waited over an hour and a half and the server, very sweet woman, continuously apologized at least 5 times that they were slow and short staffed-told us 46 minutes in that we would be the next table that would be served our food and if we were ok to wait, we said yes, ANOTHER 45 minutes later and 2 more apologies our food never came and the server came and said she apologized for the delay and it would be 10 more minutes--we got up and walked out I will NEVER go back there! Just tried out Whiskey Tavern. Service, food, drinks and atmosphere were great. The only thing I was not impressed with was the house salad. It had to much "fuzzy" green and tomatoes and onions were diced so small that you couldn't take them out if you didn't want them in the salad. It was crammed in a tiny little bowl so every time you put your fork in to get a bite it went all over the table. Some people don't like everything in a salad and pick out what they don't want. I personally am a salad lover but I wasn't impressed with this one at all. I want my veggies sliced and want my lettuce crisp not fuzzy. Perhaps offer an alternate house salad version. I will definitely come in again will ask for my salad to be a regular salad and hopefully they will be accommodating. I was also surprised they didn't offer rolls at all.
