Being local to the Lakes Region, I'm always on the look out for new restaurants to try. One of the benefits of living in a tourist destination is having infinite options for places to go out to eat, but one of the downsides is so many of them follow the same tried-and-true formula of basically the same menu items within their chosen category. I hoped The Junction would be something unique, and I was not disappointed! The first thing I noticed was the overall ambiance, which was upscale and classy, but not stuffy or snooty. It's more polo and chinos than t-shirt and jeans, if that gives you an idea. The decor is all very tasteful and clean; everything has a smooth, sleek, well-maintained look that makes you feel like you're in a place where details matter. If I were looking for a venue to book a wedding rehearsal dinner or a business lunch, this would be my first choice of all the restaurants within an easy drive to where I live. The second thing I noticed was that the staff was friendly, attentive, and quickly noticed whenever our drinks needed a refill. That seems like a small thing, but to me, it's one of the indicators of employees that take their jobs seriously versus those who do the bare minimum. The Junction is absolutely the type of place where everyone there takes genuine pride in what they do, and it shows. But on to the food... I'm a sucker for Brussels sprouts, so I had the try the Crispy Brussels on the appetizer menu. They were fantastic, and I will absolutely get them the next time we go. For the main course, I opted for the 51 Burger, which is a smashburger with cheese and a bourbon maple bacon jam with hand cut fries. Again, my expectations were well exceeded. The burger was cooked perfectly and was absolutely scrumptious! There are so many menu items I want to try, but this was so good, I will likely get it again the next time we go. Finally made it to The Junction Restaurant & Provisions in Laconia, a highly rated spot we've been wanting to check out! It's a trendy little bar and restaurant with an urban vibe that focuses on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. We started with the short rib poutine and Brussels sprouts (not pictured) - both were tasty. I had the boar ragu with whipped ricotta, fresh basil, heirloom tomatoes, fennel, greens, and Parmigiano-Reggiano - also really tasty. This is our second time here and it was awesome both times. The pizza alone is worth coming for. The cocktails are great. Guess all good things must come to an end. We came into The Junction Saturday afternoon for dinner and drinks, but because of the changeover between bartenders at 4pm, and our check getting mixed up with another customer at the bar, our incoming bartender (who has served us on previous occasions) never asked if my husband wanted another drink and totally ignored us, though I had said Hi to her. I was kind of stunned that she gave a new couple the dinner menus and never asked us if we wanted menus too and I didn't want to interrupt. Now, I had told the outgoing bartender we wanted to have dinner at 4, but I guess she didn't communicate that. Note: They change from a Happy Hour food menu to a full dinner menu at 4pm. This has never happened before and feel like it was an off day for all of them, but my husband wanted the owner to know, thus I am writing this review. Our waitress was really good and helpful in answering questions. The person helping run food out needs a little more training. We started the meal with the seafood chowder. The chowder was tasting, but should have been served hot. It was only lukewarm. A gentleman at the next table returned his to get heated up. I probably should have made the same decision. I really liked the flavor of the pork chop, but unfortunately it was a little overcooked, so dried out in sections. The sides helped add moisture, but you shouldn't need the sides to improve the main. I was told the burger was really good, including the one that was taken as a to go order. Much of their menu is gluten free, but French fries are not. Disappointing there wasn't a gluten free dessert item in the menu. read more

The Junction Restaurant & Provisions is now open in Lakeport. They are a full service restaurant & bar serving dinner & drinks (Sunday brunch soon) and a food market (breakfast & lunch sandwiches). The restaurant offers sectioned dining areas with table seating and a full service bar with TVs and 10 bar seats. The bar serves up 8 beers on tap, wine, spirits, cocktails and whiskey served in a small oak barrel. They also serve "$100 bill" flaming drinks. The food menu offers a selection of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, salads, chowder, seafood, pasta, steak frites, cauliflower steak, pizzas, and desserts. The prices are moderate high. I stopped by The Junction Restaurant for dinner recently and sat up at the bar. It was noted that their Happy Hour drinks & small bites actually ends at 4:30 pm and not 5:30 pm as described on printed menu. I ordered the 'Stachio Pizza ($19 plus tax) and Bucatini al Funghi ($26 plus tax) with the pizza coming out first and the pasta dish afterwards. The 12" pizza was topped with mortadella, fresh mozzarella, truffle honey, basil pesto, whipped ricotta, crushed pistachio, black pepper, parmigiano-reggiano on a thin crust with semi thicker crispy edge crust. This oily pizza had sweet & salted flavors. Next, the pasta bowl was served very hot which had al dente bucatini noodles tossed in wild mushroom cream, black truffle oil, wild mushrooms, & arugula. I did request a box for some of the pasta. The check with Toast QR code was $48.83 with tax and before tip. After dinner, I stopped in at the cozy provisions market and picked out a Caramel Blondie ($3.50 plus tax) a very sweet & gooey treat enjoyed with my evening coffee. Overall, I enjoyed my tasty and filling dinner at this new spot in Lakeport (Laconia). I would return here again and I would order the Crispy Calamari & Shrimp appetizer and the Ragu pasta dish. read more

Easily the best restaurant in lakes region right now, we've tried them all. Originally from the southern gulf coast and never thought we'd eat our treasured cuisine again since moving to NH. This was an absolute find. Everything we've tried has been 10/10. The creativity, the seasoning, the wine list.... There is love and refined taste in this food and cannot recommend it enough. My parents were excited to bring me here and we weren't disappointed. Highly suggest the seasonal fish dish and bucatini- pasta and produce were fresh and staff were incredibly friendly! As someone that has lived in the area for over 25 years, I am always excited to try a new place. Our kale salad had no kale on it and pizza was burnt. I don't normally leave reviews, but this experience was so awful I feel obligated to warn others. From the moment we walked in, it was a disaster. First, the lighting was so dim we could barely see the menu--honestly, I thought it was a power outage. The place felt more like a haunted basement than a restaurant. Our server took forever to greet us, and when she finally came over, she acted like we were an inconvenience. No smile, no greeting--just "What do you want?" We should've left then. The food? Honestly, I've had better microwave dinners. The appetizer came out cold, the main course was bland and overcooked, and everything was wildly overpriced. My pasta was mushy, and my partner's steak looked (and tasted) like a hockey puck. We sent one dish back, and it returned just as bad, like they re-heated it in the microwave and hoped for the best. Kale Fail!! Very disappointed in our visit to The Junction tonight. There were five of us in our group this evening. Jake, our server was kind and attentive. Beyond that, there isn't much positive to share. Our seafood tower was very slow to arrive because "the kitchen was backed up"--keep in mind, everything was raw or chilled, so this should have been the speediest dish. The Duck Potuine, which was listed as GF on the menu, was only GF if we specified (sort of on us for not reminding our server), so that was a bomb because my GF husband couldn't eat it, and everyone else thought it tasted like "pumpkin spice". The hot jalapeño pizza arrived burnt beyond edible, and the kale salad (which I have had once before with actual kale), was entirely spring mix, and did not include even one sprig of kale. When we sent the pizza and the un-kale "kale" salad back, we were comp'd the pizza, but not the kale. WTF? We didn't eat either of them. The hot honey wings had absolutely no kick, just warm, flaccid wings with some sweetness. Drinks were good, and Jake tried to make the best of a bad situation, but the fact that we were not visited by the manager upon sending back two dishes (a rarity for us) and not comp'd for one of the two dishes makes it unlikely that we will return. Disappointing since my first visit was fine and, as a local, I am always looking for new restaurants to frequent. The noise level was also unpleasant. We could barely hear others at our table.
