We stopped by for lunch and there was a good crowd but we were seated and served quickly. Everyone was super friendly and the menu was varied and had options for just about any appetite. The salads, burgers and flatbreads all looked good, but I decided to go with steak and cheese nachos and it was very tasty. I would say it could have been served a little warmer because the cheese had started to congeal by the time I got it, but the flavors were great. Also, I had a NH Old Fashioned that had local maple syrup and it was very good. The Milky Way (or Galaxy) cake we had for dessert was also good. I heard it called both. Like I said, service was very friendly but it could have been a little more attentive as our empty dishes sat for 20 minutes before we asked someone if we could order dessert. Started the evening at the bar waiting for our table to be ready. Delicious cocktails. The person next to us complained about the lobster fritters not having any lobster in them... anyways late once we have our table someone in my party orders them, we cut them in half and absolutely not even 1 full piece of lobster... genuinely probably 50 cents worth of lobster in 8 pieces of fritter when it cost $32... we let them know they apologized, eventually brought us a new one and it had someone even less lobster in it, maybe 25 cents of lobster... We immediately told the server. Our server was absolutely the best, so friendly so kind and attentive until we complained the fritters, took it extremely personally when it was the kitchens fault not hers! Chicken wings, and chicken tenders were great, Mac n cheese was soooo weird, Almost freezer burnt taste. Awesome spot for lunch. Great food and drink options. The buffalo chicken flatbread was the best buffalo chicken pizza I've ever had. Buffalo chicken was plump and juicy. Just the right amount of franks and blue cheese/ranch. The downsize burger was incredible. Smash patty on toasted brioche bun. You can ask for the dox sauce on the side and make a mini dox burger. The lobster roll was on brioche and was delicious. We visited on a Thursday for lunch in July. Sat by the boat dock and enjoyed the beautiful day. We ordered the apple and beet salad that never came with apples (see picture). It was delicious though and very light on the dressing so be sure to ask for more on the side. The chicken ranch sandwich was average. Best meal was my dox burger, which I would have again but never will since I'm not returning. We would have tried dessert but I just wanted to get out of there after waiting forever for the waitress. Went here on a Monday evening for dinner before seeing JT at the Bank of NH Pavilion. We got there around 430p and the main dinning room was not crowded at all however the tables on the deck with water view were very busy. I had the blackened salmon with broccoli which was very good. Service was good too. Parking can be a bit of a challenge with a small off-street lot and you must pay attention to the directional arrows on the pavement of one way in and one way out. read more

We came in around 1:30 on a Tuesday for lunch. It's 92 degrees outside and they apparently do not only not have air conditioning, but they have their patio windows open making it hot and muggy inside. The ceiling fans cannot combat this. If I wanted to sit in the heat, I would've asked to sit outside. If the AC is on, it's not enough to compete with the exterior temps. It's hot and uncomfortable in here. The strawberry daiquiri was bad. They clearly have a Virgin base and then just pour a shot in, but don't mix it. The result is a very unbalanced drink. The Dox Loves Peg was okay. I wasn't overly impressed. Again, the drink needed to be mixed. My biggest gripe was the water is room temp and they don't even give you a cup of ice. Warm water on a hot day. Wow, how refreshing! The burger was tasty, the meat blend on the Dox burger was so tasty and the patties were a good size. We didn't like that the burger comes with chips and if you want fries, it's a $2 up charge. It's a burger and fries, for Pete's sake. It's a classic combo. The spicy shrimp tacos were 1) not spicy, and 2) awkward to eat. The shrimp is too big, like one size down and three shrimp instead of 2 would've been better. The coleslaw was good, but there should've been more. The flour tortilla made me giggle because I always forget when I come back that we're not in a place with a large Latino population so I'm going to get flour and not corn. The corn would've taken this to the next level. They were still good but definitely could have used more spice. Everyone is talking about the great ambiance. I'm not seeing it. It's just a bar. And the food prices are high. Three tacos for $18 is DC/NY/LA pricing. And they don't even come with a side. I'd come back. Pulled into Dox for a beer and a bite. Only one other couple on the deck, and maybe three people inside. The waitress has been out twice in fifteen minutes. Never even took our drink order. Told the hostess about the wait. She immediately sent a server to our table. The hostess said she likely forgot to hit some button to alert the server that there were people at one of her tables. We ordered a Coors, a Guinness, and chicken tenders. The server said she didn't want me to wait anymore, so she did a partial pour on my Guinness. It was only partially filled and she said she would top it off in a few minutes. I was fine with that. The server was very nice. Later when she went to do that, the hostess came out and asked in a defensive tone, "What's wrong with your beer". That person doesn't not have the personality to deal with customers. I'm done with the place. $10 for a Guinness is ridiculous anyway. At least in this area. To me, service is everything, and this place is lacking in it. The food was only ok. Just held my daughters wedding rehearsal dinner at Dox. As father of the bride and the one paying for the event, what can I say other than WOW!! The wait staff that was dedicated to the dinner were very nice at made sure all our guests were taken care of promptly, no one ever felt they were waiting and the drinks and food came out quickly and correctly, the food was awesome [[HIGHLIGHT]]the atmosphere is what we were really looking for at a lake wedding[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and Michelle the manager kept a close eye on everything making sure our function was perfect. Finally stopped in for late lunch early dinner! ( now that the summer rush has passed) . Seated by the front window, street view. This was a bit scary as they also park right there and well its a tight squeeze! Anxiety me was thinking oh boy someone is going to back up through this window! Waitress was friendly and gave us suggestions! I had the drunken apple drink , and then we did the street corn dip for an app. I then ordered the New England Short ribs with a cranberry glaze, the meal was amazing although a lil more cranberry glaze demi sauce would of been great, it was mostly just cranberries. After seeing a fun online ad for a seasonal coffee flight, I was intrigued! I had never been to DOX before and a coffee flight sounded delicious. I called first and asked if there was any way to do them without dairy/if they had an alternative milk and the girl in the phone said "yes!". We get there and I don't see it on the menu but then my husband found it under alcohol specials. I asked our waitress if the coffees are all alcoholic and she says yes. I asked if it could be made without alcohol and she says "no they're all pre-made by the bar tender"...including with milk. I left pretty disappointed, as the post didn't say alcohol and the girl on the phone made it sound like it was modifiable coffee beverages. I made a comment on their post about them being pre-made and alcoholic and they eventually did change it to say "boozy coffee flights", and they deleted my comment. I want to like this place so much. It's local, it has great ambiance and the service is excellent. I've been to this location 4 times now and each time has been disappointing, primarily the food specifically. We ate there this past weekend and decided it would be our last visit. My biggest complaints - the food is not at all consistent. Some things have been ok but some have been terrible. And the prices are far too high for the food you get. For example, I ordered a salad with fried feta at our last visit. The salad was tasty but resembled a side salad in size and it was $17. That has been a repetitive theme there - small portions for too much money. Also, at our visit yesterday, we waited a very long time for our food and it wasn't that busy. So happy to see this property finally thrive after a long vacant hiatus! This review is for the happy hour--limited to an actual hour everyday, half price apps and drinks can't be beat, especially when there's an expansive cocktail list with varying prices. I ordered the espresso martini with no baileys and they even put gingerbread sprinkles on top! I also got a winni water which was refreshing and will be great in the summer. The portions are pretty big too. The apps I sampled were fries, nachos, and shrimp. The fries are such a steal and a huge portion and taste almost like McDonalds. Super salty but hits the spot if you're craving. The shrimp and chips are pretty good too! The service is super friendly and I can see this quickly becoming a locals spot. Had a great dinner tonight at this awesome new restaurant!! My boyfriend and I are here on vacation and will definitely get back once or twice more while we're here. We sat at the bar and the service was great! Friendly bar staff and great drinks. We loved the Sand Bar drink (served in a fishbowl) and the frozen mudslides we had for "dessert". For dinner we split the ahi tuna app which was delicious and fresh and one of the best Cobb salads I've ever had. Portion size was great and it was a delicious meld of mixed greens, grilled chicken, bacon, avocado, grape tomatoes of different colors and feta cheese. Last night was the final attempt at dining here. Some low lights: Beet salad came with what were clearly canned beets. Street corn was canned corn kernels with some spices and no cheese. Shrimp is rubbery at best. I am no foodie but this menu has continued to let me down. So uninspired and blah. Do yourself a favor. Received 3 small 6" flour tortillas that had maybe a tablespoon of pulled pork, a teaspoon of slaw and a 1&1/2" transparent slice of green apple on each taco. There was nothing else served with this. Other members of my party had a bit more substantial meals, however the price was higher than expected for what they got. When a restaurant isn't busy, it should not take 10 minutes for waitstaff to come to a table. But it did. Serving room temperature water is just weird. Especially on a hot day. Food came out quickly, but was a mixed bag. We had two salads: Dox Cobb Salad and Tuna Bowl The cobb salad was quite good, but not your normal cobb salad. Read the menu. The tuna bowl was disappointing. Cold broccoli? That was just weird. It felt like bowls are popular now so it was added to the menu to capitalize but was not thought out well. Service was not great at all. It just felt like our server had no interest in being there whatsoever. There is an art to waiting tables and our server forgot the paint and the brush. There are digital games to play on a phone while waiting for food. That was fun. If it were me, I would try a somewhere else. If I could give zero stars I would because we were never even seated. We were told over then phone that they took our name down and we were placed in the queue for seating. They said about a 45 minute wait. When we showed up they said that our name was not in their system and that it would be another 45 minutes and that we were the first group in the queue. After an hour without being informed that a table was ready, and watching 3 groups being sat over us we left. All in all it was almost a 2 hour wait. read more
