This appears to be a great live music venue. This appears to be a place where crowds do hang out and party. Yes. Observation from an outsider passing through is you get exactly what this cute little spot aims to do. We learn to do business with those who please our needs. This Roadhouse DOES that! Fay is just a great bartender-server. The fellow staff were communicating with each other in a friendly and respectful way. The cook in the kitchen made us a great breakfast. Well we had a night stay in Rockford and nothing was open or they decided to close early because it was snowing and business was slow. Roadhouse was open and you can tell its a local bar with all sorts of characters and lucky us we happened to be there for Karaoke ( kidding). Got to give credit to those that tried to "sing". Burgers and Corned beef sandwiches were good- Shining star was the bar tender, waitress and bar back--All the same young lady dressed in cowgirl outfit did it all and with a smile. Everything I wrote in my original review still stands, but I've been back a couple of times now and I need to say that the evening crowd compared to the daytime crowd is completely different. During the day/afternoons it's okay, not so bad. At night... wow. The last two times I was there fights broke out and the cops ended up swarming all over the place. I didn't even finish my beer before leaving. If you are going to go, do it before 5. If you go later, especially on Friday or Saturday night, be prepared for a rowdy crowd that can get hostile. I have came here in the past to randomly eat some bar food and it was decent. However, I was craving some nachos today and decided to give it a try again. I'm glad I did! It was just my husband and I and we ordered 2 pork chop sandwiches, with the works, an order of the fried shrimp basket, (daily special on Wednesdays, $4.99 - comes with 6 butterfly shrimps w/cocktail sauce, side of fries, and coleslaw) and an order of their Irish nachos. We were the only ones there at the time in the bar area, aside from people playing slots, so service was fairly quick! Our food came out hot and ready to eat. There was plenty to eat on the table, for just us two, so I knew we were going to need a to go box. The pork chop sandwiches were on the thinner side, but you really can't go wrong with it for being $2 (this is their daily price). The only thing we put on it was the BBQ sauce. I'm not sure what kind of BBQ sauce it was, but it was really flavorful! I wonder if it was made in house? Prior to ordering, I honestly did not look at the prices for each item, but I was really surprised to see how much our bill was. Less than $20 for the both of us, for plenty of food, and pretty much a whole meal to take back home since we couldn't finish it. I'd say to go here for some cheap bar food. I believe you can order for pick up, but I asked the server about that for the pork chop sandwiches and she mentioned she wasn't too sure, but there may be a small charge to order those to go as typically that price is only for dine in. I ordered Ham and Cheese Soup which I thought was strange in the first place but it was listed under Soups on the menu for Doordash. I also ordered French Onion Soup and a Taco Salad. The Ham and Cheese soup ended up being a very salty sandwich! It would kill someone if he or she had high blood pressure! Two of us tasted that and concurred. Along with the sandwich there were ruffled potato chips that were stale! Next, I tried the French Onion soup which strangely enough had to be the best I ever tasted but there was not much to justify the charge. Next, I ordered a taco salad. The lettuce was not fresh at all. The taco salad did come with a good amount of meat though but there was no sauce to put on the taco salad. I could not even find any cheese! It's a good thing that I keep Taco Bell sauce around! I threw away the lettuce and added the Taco Bell sauce. It was half way decent then. Met some friends here for lunch yesterday and was greeted with cold beer and damn good cheap bar food. Oh yeah. We sat up at the bar, the bartender was friendly and on the ball with the cocktails. May I suggest getting the Irish Nachos as an appetizer, plenty of food for very reasonable prices. I got the southwest chicken wrap. HUGE portions and very good for bar food. Went here when this popular local band was playing, audio ride or something. MEH. Band was loud and just an 80s cover band. The singer looked like a drunk and the rest were a bunch of old guys, the point is that all the patrons were just as old. It seems like it's a 50 years old and up bar. Fun bar with an interesting atmosphere. I happened to come during some of their special events (which seem pretty common). The first was some server's birthday where something happened... at least all the workers hung around so it was lively. The second was customer appreciation day with free BBQ sandwiches. I think both had bands. The food's bar food and it's a bikerish bar in Rockford so don't expect too much class. I also came for breakfast a couple of times and it was good diner food that I was happy to have open and close to me. It probably would not get 5 stars if I didn't get a kick out of the regulars and the staff. The one possible complaint/obsession I have is that when bikers are there it seems to amp up the white power feel. It's weird for the area to have 0 black people and one time I went there and saw the seemingly mild-mannered only black guy get kicked out. No what I expected. From the outside the place looked a little rough and we weren't sure what we were getting ourselves into. As soon as we sat down we were greeted by a wonderful bartender and had AMAZING food!! The burgers were juicy and the bbq chicken quesadilla was awesome. I was in there few weeks back and it will probably be the last it was a Tuesday night I think karaoke was going on and there's was this who I was told was the owner she. She was so rude to customers and saying such vulgar things and not only that she was drunk walking behind the bar making herself a drink and then sits back down on the other side. She was in my opinion being verbally abusive to her staff in front of staff like take that to the back made my feel so uncomfortable. For the past two years this is the only bar my husband and I will go to. I don't know what it gets like at night because we only go during the day(I'm a third shifter), but it always has a friendly, laidback atmosphere . First of all there is three prices for the bloody marys one is 2 dollar, other is 3.25 and other is 4.50 and depending on the bartender depends on what you get charged.. This place is only good for the wings and the only staff member who is awesome is nikki and Jodi the others are just dumb and don't know shit so not worth stopping unless either of the bartenders are working...
