Two other couples were at the bar having a great time with the amazing bartender. The bartender worked and talked like she actually enjoyed her job. That's hard to find these days. Also, when the hours say until close, I believe the bartender was ready to work until we were done. We didn't feel forced to finish up at all. The drink menus are massive and I mean massive. My first drink was a "New Rum Fashioned" which was a 3/5 for me. A little too sweet and muddled. My second drink was a 5/5. I can't remember the exact name but it was a mix between a Bloody Mary and a margarita. I can wait to go back again and try some more of the wild drinks.

This is a bar to sip and chat with people . Now comes the man himself. The reason I came here based on reviews I had searched for .......not a mixologist but a dam flavorologist!!!! Drinks he created are on the menus BUT he can also work off what you like based on three or four questions . We hung out with him for hours and sampled quite a few ..........he nailed it ! I went for the whiskey trinity (3 different drinks) and each one was amazing . Choc martini to finish the night Yum He has some snacks available Crockpot meatballs (cucumber mint vodka pesto). But for those in the know, all you have to do is ask for the good stuff and they will pour it for you, and they do have the good stuff. Full disclosure, they are a whiskey bar first and foremost, so they have more of that than anything else, but just to name a few others, they do have DonQ rum and Don Julio tequila so unless you are a high maintenance drinker, you can find what you are looking for. It is also worth noting that they bill themselves as a craft cocktail bar, which means they can and will make you a very nice mixed drink, speaking of the high maintenance among us. There are pool tables and leagues are a regular thing here as well as a nice little William Hill sportsbook in the corner. It closes early though, so keep that in mind. There are no less than a dozen beers on tap at any given time as well as several bottle and can options. Plenty of TV's above the bar and Direct TV, so they get almost anything you are looking for. The bar slots seem to be pretty loose most of the time and although I rarely play video Keno, I have seen many people cash out hundreds of dollars on a fairly regular basis playing it. Now for the bad...It is a truck stop bar and that in itself is not a bad thing, but sometimes, well...Truckers can be a lot to take in. Also, you will come home smelling like smoke. Otherwise, stop by if you are in the 'hood and take a look for yourself. Good place to pregame. If nothing else, check out the gun collection throughout the casino and bar, it is worth the trip alone.

Walking in the first thing you notice is that this place has seen some cigarettes over the years, but once you make it past that, the dimly lit room with dark wood and green accents has the kind of charm you want from an old watering hole. The patrons apparently change with time. No, I don't mean they've been there so long they've gotten old with the place. Rather that earlier in the evening this is a place where some Reno originals come to hang out, and in the later hours you'll find a younger, after hours industry crowd coming in to enjoy their after shifters. I was there earlier in the night, and as I sat down I was greeted by a friendly older gentleman who was happy to share his story along with the history of the bar. He'd started coming here as a near scratch golfer when Masters was apparently the place to be after hitting the links. He shared with me how he'd really like to see it go back to that, but for now it's a quiet bar that's trying to find it's place again. Surprisingly there's a really decent beer selection (mostly bottled), and though I wouldn't expect any craft cocktails, based on the GIANT glasses of wine being poured for the older patron next to me, I'm sure you can count on a stiff drink at this place. This is one of the bars that originated NBT (New Bar Tuesday), and I'm really glad I made the decision to check it out. A fun and unique way to sort cocktails. They also have a selection of beer on draft and wine. The drinks can also be made into mocktails- a win for our group since we had a few non-drinkers. The 1859 mocktail was great. Perfectly sweet with a small hit of miso flavor from the miso honey. Probably even better and more balanced with the whiskey! Others in my group enjoyed working their way through the many light, dark, and sour beers on tap. 1864 offers a classic, relaxed atmosphere and a great place to get a cocktail. The prices are reasonable, too. Definitely worth the visit.
