Visiting Abingdon for a few nights and Yelped restaurants that were wheelchair accessible. Had checked out the menu and was looking forward having some good healthy lunch. So imagine my disappointment when I discovered there was no way to enter the premises. Undeterred by what I saw out front, I thought maybe they have a back door entrance since it's clearly stated in Yelp that they're accessible. Thankfully it was a nice day so we sat outside. I'm just thankful that it wasn't raining or else there would've been no way to eat here. Portions were generous. I got the chicken salad on multi grain which came with nicely seasoned home fries. Stopped here on our drive from TN to CT after a family visit. Wanted a good breakfast to keep us going on the road. I wanted a biscuit but did not want a huge plate with gravy I couldn't eat so I asked for a biscuit, scrambled egg, and sautéed veggies and the cook said yes and even came out to see how I liked my plate. It was perfect. My husband got The Farm Fresh Platter. He knew it would be a lot of food and it was. He really enjoyed the biscuits and gravy and he has had a few good biscuits in his time living in and visiting the South even though we live in CT. We both really liked his bacon. The waitress was awesome and helpful when we were deciding on food and juices to go. Very friendly staff, nice decor, and extremely clean including the bathrooms. My friends loved their Tomato Pie, Power Protein Bowl, Avocado Toast, and Burgers all around. We enjoyed the good coffee too. One person had grits instead of Home Fries as a side which were very good and creamy. The rest of us had potatoes served on the side which were over-cooked and over-seasoned. Tough even, with far too much rosemary and such. Let the potatoes shine in their simplicity y'all - parboil first, then roast or fry in a clean HOT oil with garlic salt, pepper and parsley. The dried-up taters kept us from giving the place 5 stars. PS: And there's a small, selective bar - the art on the wall was fun! We at two breakfast/brunch type meals at White Birch Food and Juice during our recent short visit to Abingdon. White Birch is a very clean, modern, and attractive little place on Main Street, just a few blocks from the Barter Theatre and the Martha Washington Inn. During the Covid era, they have outdoor seating, and utilize every other table inside. We had a short wait for a table on both days, but waiting outside in the pretty town of Abingdon on a sunny day is not a problem. On our first visit, I had my default breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, and a biscuit. Yetta had the "Thai chicken wrap", which the menu describes as "oven roasted pulled chicken, kale slaw, ginger lime dressing, peanut sauce, rice, and quinoa, in a spinach tortilla". My breakfast was good, but the chicken wrap was phenomenal. So good, that we went back the next day, and each had a chicken wrap, with a side order of seasonal fruit, which in this case was a bowl of incredibly fresh and sweet peaches. I am usually underwhelmed with a wrap, but these wraps were the most flavorful, freshest, and healthiest wraps that I have ever had. Along with her wrap, Yetta had a "Ruby Red" cold-pressed juice, which consists of carrot, apple, beet, ginger, pineapple, and celery. It was phenomenally tasty and invigorating. I had a blueberry blast smoothie, which was also very enjoyable. The atmosphere at White Birch was very pleasant and relaxing, even under Covid conditions. The staff were incredibly friendly and efficient. By all means, if you are ever in southwestern Virginia, you should go to this place, and order the chicken wrap - you will be very happy that you did! read more

What a treat to find this place for dinner. My partner and I loved the food so much that we actually ate here 2 nights in a row while we were visiting the area from out of state. As someone with a gluten free and vegetarian diet, dinner options in the area were extremely limited/non-existent. I got the Power Bowl for dinner both nights as it fit my diet and was delicious! The portion size was perfect as well. My partner had the veggie burger which came with super tasty roasted potatoes (I think it said french fries on the menu, but were more like home fries; the leftovers went great with breakfast the next day). Cute little Main Street restaurant! We ate breakfast there this morning. I had the breakfast biscuit with potatoes and my fiancé had the breakfast burrito with potatoes. The potatoes had a wonderful flavor and the sandwich and burrito were a good size and tasted wonderful. I got the Pink Punch juice and it was very good and refreshing. Fiancé got the coffee and said it was good. Good atmosphere and we noticed some food bourbon options as well, but it was a little too early for us, lol! Being both a vegetarian and gluten free, I don't always get to eat well when I travel. This was not the case when I walked into this place! Everything was marked on the menu and the options were plentiful. The food was great and fresh and the service was exactly as you would expect in the south. The best thing, tho, was what I took with me when I left. THEY HAD GLUTEN FREE PIE! Peach to be exact and it was amazing! I wished I had taken more than one piece. I took one piece to go and wanted to go back for the whole thing! If you're walking around downtown, do yourself a favor and pop into this spot. I loved my food. The Thai Chicken Wrap was everything I thought it would be. The place had a perfect variety of food and drink options and staff are super helpful with any questions. The only reason for the 4 stars is because it took awhile for them to take our order and we waited for awhile for our food afterward. Also, my husband ordered a medium-rare burger but it was more like medium-well. Regardless- I would rate this place 5 stars and from my end, I loved it so much. First off, this cafe is located in a great area of Abingdon where you are within walking distance to window shop other locally owned stores in Abingdon. Everything available is locally sourced and they were able to cater to my vegan friend. I had a small house salad with cucumber dill dressing and life proof coffee. Both were good, but a tad overpriced for the amounts. Didn't try the juices but everyone in the restaurant was drinking them, so I will definitely try It when I'm back in area. Cool, quaint cafe located in historic district of Abingdon is a great stop when traveling down I-81 and needing a light pick me up. read more
