Cozy, dated but good spot for seafood. Fresh market on site if you plan on taking home some seafood as well. Very spacious outdoor seating.

A hidden gem! We absolutely love white cap! We wanted a casual, relaxed, seafood dining on the water and that's exactly what white cap delivers. The food is fresh and delicious. My husband really likes the Broiled Seafood Combo which is sol, shrimp, clams, and scallops. Try the coconut shrimp spring rolls!

Thought a rustic shack would have amazing seafood but it was okay. Nothing to go back for. Could've been seasoned better. But there are plenty of options in cooking the seafood. Had the broiled combo platter. Service was fast and friendly.

Stopped in today to pick up some fresh fish for dinner . The shop is rustic with an aged interior and old wooden floors ,with a kind of old time feeling . I have eaten here in the summer several times, sitting out side by the dock is so relaxing . Everything I've ordered has always been fresh and delicious ! Today I brought home some jumbo shrimp , flounder freshly caught from Montauk and a crab cake , which looked so good I just had to try one ! The shrimp was good ,delicate and sweet ....the flounder was fantastic , flaky and super fresh !I enjoyed the crab cake it was nicely flavored , I would have preferred larger pieces of crab and a bit less bread crumbs .. but it was delicious non the less ! I will be back again !

The best part about White Cap is coming here on a warm summer day, getting some fresh oysters and a fresh seafood lunch and sitting outside on their patio on the canal watching all of the fishing boats. Oh and with a glass of wine or a beer. At the time of my review, it is winter. But luckily there are some tables inside to still enjoy the food. They have an extensive menu with a variety of options and lunch specials. It is extremely no frills, but the food is made to order and very fresh. On the other side is the actual display case to purchase fish. I feel the quality here is ok... not amazing but not bad. It is local and convenient. A bit of a warning if you are afraid like me... the bathroom is a port-o-potty near the very utilitarian unloading dock, so you may want to find another bathroom option before you get here!

I ordered a dozen blue claw crabs and 2 dozen clams to be delivered over to Ocean Beach. They screwed up and never sent my clams and charged me fees they never told me about.

    Combo Platter with Teriyaki Marinade

White Cap Fish Market is one of those places where even as you're halfway down the entrance you'll be thinking "is there actually something here?". This little shack sits right by the water and sells fresh caught seafood as well as having a fully functional kitchen preparing whatever you order any way you want it. Fried, baked, broiled you name it, they can do it. So on this visit I got their Combo Platter, I noticed there was an option to have your seafood in different marinades so I decided to try out their teriyaki marinade. And honestly? It had no business being there, I was under the impression that they actually put them in a marinade, I didn't think it'd be a thick teriyaki stir-fry type of sauce drizzled on the finish. The flavors of the seafood just didn't mesh well with the sauce for me. Very well, I just removed as much sauce as I could and carried on. As for the actual seafood, it was superb and as fresh tasting as you can ask for. The combo platter contained clams, sole, shrimp, and scallops and they were all cooked perfectly. On my next visit I'll be sure to have a sauce-less platter and I would have their side pasta instead of fries. So be sure to check this place out before Summer comes to a close because the patio will keep you there longer than you think.

First time here and it was a perfect day to eat outside next to the water. The fresh seafood cooked just right got me hooked and I'm looking forward to the next time. I got the stuffed mushrooms, 3 big ones in the appetizer and stuffed so full. I also got the shrimp scampi which came with a side and I picked the linguine with white clam sauce. My mouth waters just thinking of it. My friend got the fresh oysters to start and a tuna steak cooked perfectly also with linguine and white clam sauce. Get here a little early do you can get a seat outside. Be in the lookout for seagulls if you want company, which were friendly.

I've loved it for over 15 years maybe longer. I've lost count. Buuuut with the new owner Marcus & his friendly knowledgeable staff (Hiiii Pedro!) it has improved immensely! Marcus's passion & dedication to the art of fishing & shellfishery shows. I come from a long line of clammers & eelers. My family does not give a BBQ without clams. We just don't. But Marcus (I can't say his name without hearing Eartha Kitt. If ya know, Ya know. Hahaha) has upped the ante with fresh shellfish & fish options also dry aged items as well. Today I was blessed with Jumbo Soft Shell Crabs! I was lazy & broiled them instead of grilling or frying them. They came out perfect! Called My Dad & he went back for some also. And the new hours!!! I can't say enough about the later hours & being open 7 days! Epic! Thank you CC for providing quality seafood to my local restaurants while also allowing me the same opportunity to get the best Long Island has to offer. 7-6-2025

I ordered online, they have a really convenient online ordering system which gave me no issue. I got their order of fried clam strips and a small platter of fried flounder, fried shrimp, and white rice. The clam strips were tasty but I have to knock them for not prepping them fresh as a fish market. I quite literally saw the box they were delivered in sitting in the counter. They weren't bad but definitely not great. The fried shrimps were just okay. The breading and meat were a bit chewy and firm, not very crisp. For the rice I was partially expecting a spanish type of white rice but it was plain steamed rice. This did work well though because my other items were a bit salty anyway. The real star of the show was the fish. This was definitely prepped in house and it was so good. A crisp, generously seasoned outer crust with the flaky meat intact and moist. I found their cayenne pepper sauce perfect for the fried seafood, very thin and vinegar forward to cut through the grease a bit. Their tartar was okay, it was one of the sweeter types which I'm not a fan of. I would try it again and get their fried fish . Everything else I'd mix up though.

The servers are all well versed in the menu items, including the oyster selection, which is always a plus for me. Each time I've visited I ordered a few different oysters and have never been disappointed. You really cannot go wrong with what you order. The fritto misto appetizer is outstanding, perfect for 2-4 people. Also had to try the oysters Rockefeller which are always delicious. My first visit (NYE '26) they had octopus on their specials menu. I PRAY they bring it back because it was memorable, even 6 months later. My first visit I tried the barramundi which, at the time was a special menu item. It seems they added it to the Mains but with a different preparation. This time I tried the salmon which was excellent. If seafood's not your jam, they have plenty of menu items to choose from. In addition to the food, they also have great cocktails and a stellar looking happy hour menu I can't wait to try. I recommend making reservations, especially if you're visiting on a Friday or Saturday night. Both times I went here the restaurant was packed, particularly the bar area. My only real critique is that the restaurant gets a bit loud, making it a tad difficult to hear but it's also a sign that the place is doing consistently well.

However, the seating in my opinion is on a tight spaced sidewalk where people and cars pass you by. It was crowded and our waiter was fine. The food took way too long to come out. Such small oysters for a place that's on the coast and bases it menu off the ocean. Our tuna tartar tacos were great. Best I've ever had. The flavor is towards the bottom of the taco so take a big bite to get all that flavor. IMO this is a nice place. I would not make it a go to spot for their oysters. But I would return.
