Having been raised on White Castle, before there was any McDonald's nearby, I'm nostalgic for their sliders. Nevertheless, this location has a problem with the person taking orders. Know this may not be the best job in the world, but having gone inside to place our order she was simultaneously taking a drive in order. We discovered after waiting for about 20 minutes that she did not include our burgers because she wasn't paying attention. Very frustrating! This wasn't the first time we visited here. I'm fact, we came when it was new. Well now it filthy. The employees seems confused and don't look very clean. There was a person at the drive thru window and no one at the front. Someone was sweeping the floor behind the counter. She left that to work on food -- no hand washing. They do wear gloves which should not be a substitute for good old soap and water. The person cooking the burgers was talking non stop. Someone finally came to take my order and then we waited and waited. There were people who walked in from the street and started to work. Again, no visible hand washing. I was surprised that I stayed and didn't ask for a refund because of the disorientation that was going on. I wanted my fix of burgers before heading down south. My burgers sat on the counter and I had to ask for my drinks a few times. I got sick that week -- I suspect the gastrointestinal issues came from this place -- this time. The whole joint needs to be cleaned and disinfected and the employees needs to wash theirs hands regularly and in between tasks and stop talking over the food! Oh the kid in me just came out. If you have not ever had a 4 nite square burger, honey let me tell you something. It's definitely a minimum 4-6 bites of pure deliciousness. Due to the state I live in I can't get these unless I get them out the frozen section of grocery story. So the warmth of the soft bun, the seasoned cheeseburger and onions... I wanted the impossible burger with dairy free cheese today for lunch so took a trip to White Castle. I didn't want too much food so these mini sliders were a perfect option. Oh darn ,my guilty pleasure comfort food craving is happening while I am in linden NJ and it's white castle the stomach turning faults . No drive thru for me as nothing is better then eating murder burgers at the castle . 3 double white castles, 6 piece chicken rings , large diet soda , grab a booth and apologize to my tummy later or maybe tummy won't accept apologies at all . After all these years my occasional white castle fling is still rewarding to me and this location gets 4 stars as the wait was minimal, no mistakes on my order and workers were kind and friendly for the most part . The menu has gone thru some changes over the years but for me the white castle original burgers , fries and onion rings still are my fave along with the chicken rings which have been around for a while as well. Following ALL COVID-19 guidelines must wear a mask, no inside eating at this time, just pick and go but OH MY!!! I was alone in the car with my clutch box that with held 20 sliders with cheese of course, then I saw their new veggie sliders looks good but I just want the original sliders, I watched through a window as they prepared my sliders, the staff I have to say not friendly bunch there was a young lady and two men, no one spoke to me or even said hi, I waited like 20 min for my sliders and I bought a 25th anniversary mug, which the male employee refused to give me and yelled that I had to pay for it, I explained I paid for it, and he just got angry so I showed him my receipt but still he just would not give me the mug then the lady came over and gave me the mug, she was the one who took the original order knew I paid for it, also she showed him that it was on the screen, I think there was a language barrier, the place ok nothing to brag about it needs a bit of cleaning not that it was dirty but just a little bit of cleaning, this is a place that offers no customer service like zero, they had me wait 5 minutes standing there in front of the register no one would take my order or talk to me, I had to ask for help. So for that reason I gave them a four stars but these sliders were probably the best I have ever had so that's were the four stars come into play. read more

Their site states this location was remodeled. From what, I've no idea. Florescent lighting made the place look a bit tired, but it was clean enough. I've been told to avoid White Castle's sliders, miniature hamburgers full of oniony grease, somber green pickles, squirts of ketchup, and bits of onion. Delivered in cardboard caddies, they looked much worse than their promotional shots. Anyone like flaccid buns? In the wild, these savory, grease-imbued cupcakes still carried an irresistible smell[1]. Except for the wee people, anyone could force down four or five in a sitting; with the aid of alcohol, a truckload[2]. Four classic sliders set me back $2.56, a mere pittance. A frakking huge soft drink? $1.79. Stop in, and don't forget to bring a handle of gin. [1] I wish my car smelt of White Castle. Yes, I did take a whiff of the bag after I was done. Stopped in for Chicken & Waffles and 2 Castles (the original Slider). Staff was very pleasant and busy. You could really sense a strong team that get along great and enjoy working hard. What great pride. The Chicken & Waffle sandwiches have bacon and a sweet gravy and were delicious. I have always loved "Castles." When I crave them, I can eat sack after sack. I had a chocolate milkshake also. These milkshakes were always better than McDonalds and Burger King. Only drawback is that it takes awhile to get that first sip through the straw, but it is worth the wait. Restaurant is very well kept and clean. My presence is to stop at a good White Castle over McDonalds or Burger King any day. They have been making fast food the right way since 1921. read more

i legit waited over 40 mins for my food. i went out nd hit 2 js and still didnt get my food. there were about 6 parties infront of me. we were in there for so long nd were so bored that we stared at everyone coming inside. then some employee came in late and stood outside the kitchen door easedropping on the shorthanded staff. then the speakers started talking about how we r being surveillanced by HQ as a protocal. so all the workers began working faster and kept looking at the customers wondering who snitched on them. the lady easedropping finally went in to work. Actually this is a good White Castle to stop at for a snack or meal. They have a lot of package deals now at WC just beware cheese is not included in the price. We ordered 3 packages all the same with cheese except I got onion rings. I like them better than their crinkle cut fries. Wow the cheeseburgers were perfectly made. Not over steamed and soggy at all. Really good amount of flavor also. The neighborhood seemed safe enough to stop at in the daytime not sure about night time. Great location when commuting from the city area to the more suburb areas. We stopped here twice to eat on our recent trip. Also the absolutely friendliest service. You would think you were in the South with the friendly hospitality. Bathroom out of order, almost all of the tables had spills/dirt on them even though the dining room was basically empty, and they tried to serve me undercooked fries. Thankfully one employee seemed to care about the quality of food being served (the second star is for her being proactive). The others obviously could not care less. This is an iconic WC location for me, as it is in the center of 1&9, and therefore, of all things awesome. I can't say anything too different about the food. Everyone has had White Castle at some point in their lives and the taste is virtually the same anywhere. Consistency is good though. My tried and true favorite is the jalepeno burger. Can't go wrong with cheese, meat and jalepenos. The ketchup here is always tangy and tomato-y. I also dig on the double version of it, as well as the onion rings and clam strips for sides/appetizers. Service is eh or meh there, could be good, could be bad, but at the end of the day, all I want is my burger and I'm probably drunk so whatever. read more

I grew up one block from a White Castle in Brooklyn, NY--hamburgers were 10 cents--cheeseburgers 12 cents back then. I love White Castle. I want to give high praise for this particular White Castle. Over the decades many things change, including White Castle--not just the price (which is still very good). One of the things I always liked about White Castle burgers is the method of steaming them on a grill with onions and a little bit of water with the bun sitting right on top of the burger patty. This process causes the burger to 'steam' and bring the meat and onion flavor to soak right into the bun. As a kid, I discovered that you could ask your waitress to add some steam to your burgers (yes, they had waitresses and counter service back then). There was a shiny device, about the size of a waffle iron, that they would place your paper plate of burgers into, close the lid, and move a lever to produce clouds of steam. This gave your burgers even more hot, steamed onion deliciousness. I've noticed that many times in recent years the bun on my Castles has been dry and definitely not steamed!! I've asked for 'extra steam' and the order taker had no idea what I meant; It seemed that White Castle had taken away the 'steamer' option. Until I found this White Castle. Every time I ask for my usual order: two double cheeseburgers with extra pickles and steam, they don't even hesitate!! I am happy to say that they steam them to perfection. Try it some time, ask for your burgers (or any sandwich) to have extra steam, and see how a classic White Castle burger tastes with a moist, delicious bun - not too dry!! read more

Clean facility, served hot and exactly as ordered. Can't beat the value and you have to much respect the history (my parents went on their first date at a White Castle). being from California, going to White Castle was a must! this place happened to be down the street from the hotel i was staying at, so i stopped in before heading out. it's a small establishment, and there were two asian ladies arguing about something in the bathroom, but i actually had a really good experience. I had no idea what i wanted, and the lady at the cash register was totally understanding, upbeat, and let me take my time. the food came out quickly and was all hot and tasty- as it should be. Drives by on my way home after spin class. Was feeling a little empty and wanted a small snack.... I gotta say I never remember White Castle being so good... I have been to the other one down the road on route 1 on the other side going west bound. But this one going east bound towards the gothels bridge is the best one I have been to...
