This place is seriously the best kept secret as far as boarding facilities in LA goes! I came across Patrick's info through a post on one of the local equestrian's FB pages earlier this year when I was looking for a horse to lease. I met with Patrick & Casey on my first visit. For starters, they were extremely knowledgeable about everything horse related. That aside, they were insanely warm and genuinely receptive. My 9 yo daughter started taking lessons with Casey and has learned so much. She's extremely patient but just thorough enough to keep my kid's attention. She knows her stuff, there's no question about that, and keeps her engaged while soaking it all in. Patrick is just as talented and has helped me get over a big hump which was my recently developed and thoroughly annoying fear I had after taking a pretty huge fall off a giant thoroughbred a few months prior. The experience had left the entire half of my body black and blue from impact (in addition to rolling 5 times like a lifeless rag doll..lol). My confidence had shriveled up into something unrecognizable. I had ridden horses my whole life starting when I was 8 and had always been pretty fearless. Needless to say, it was frustrating to say the least. I'm happy to say, he was triumphant at getting me through it! I was able to reach a mentally sound place by working seamlessly through it on one of their beautiful warmbloods, "Moose". By the end of my first lesson, I was confidently cantering again in stride with perfect leg yields. (Thank you Patrick!:) I seriously have nothing but great to say about these guys. As far as the facility goes, This place is sublime. It's so ridiculously peaceful and scenic here. It's truly amazing to see all the horses... just be...well horses, roaming naturally with the other horses in their specifically assigned pastures. The horses look genuinely happy and content. It never occurred to me that there was any other way to keep a horse other than being pent up in solitude in a compact X' by X' stall for most of the day. That is of course unless you have the fortunate enough to reside on a farm with lots of acres behind it to put them in. Which honestly, who around here really does? A+++ fyi- I find the negative 'review' that "Leah G." left, interestingly and hilariously ironic, especially since she literally refused to refund me the $350 dollars I paid her in advance for a package set of lessons right before she skipped town last July with absolutely no notice. I seriously considered filing a case with small claims, bc I'm a single mom and try hard to keep everything on a tight budget in order token our heads above water. I decided it wasn't worth the time and energy for the amount lost. It still stung and shocked me that someone would do that. So to see her on here attempting to give this place of all places, a bad name.. Clearly, by her own words she's incredibly unstable . Proceed with caution doing any kind of business with Leah Green. My 6 1/2 year old granddaughter has taken riding lessons at various places. Casey is her riding instructor at White Cloud Ranch and is phenomenal. My granddaughter is having the most incredible experience and her riding skills have advanced so much under Casey's instruction at White Cloud Ranch. Casey has been such a caring, attentive, and incredible instructor. My granddaughter has not only improved and expanded her riding skill set but she's also being taught how to properly groom and care for the horses she rides. Life skills that can be carried throughout her lifetime with all living things, big and small. We could not be more thrilled with her progression and overall experience! White Cloud Ranch is special place! Our whole family has been riding there and they love it, no complaints. This ranch has the best trainers and horses. White Cloud Ranch gives you a feeling of a real cowboy or cowgirl. My daughter moved to White Cloud less than a year ago trying to find better horses and trainers, immediately she fell in love with this barn. Everyone there is so nice and friendly! White Cloud Ranch is located in one of the most beautiful locations in Malibu. Its rustic trails and beautiful sunsets over the Santa Monica mountains are a pleasure to behold. The ranch is family owned and operated and all of the owners live on site and are always there to help with any problem you may have with your horse. They were extremely helpful when we added a 3rd horse to our pasture in getting the new horse acclimated with the other 2 horses. I am always confident that they will be looking after my horses when I'm not there and alerting me of any medical problems that may have or could occur. All the other borders we have encountered are extremely helpful and friendly. We've had our horses at White Cloud over 3 years and both my wife and I and the horses couldn't be happier. read more

This is a wonderful place to board a horse. The corrals are large and nicely shaded. The people who work at White Cloud care and the other horse owners are friendly. It can't get much better as a horse to be living in the Santa Monica Mountains. White Cloud is fantastic. read more

Love the nature and love all the boarders. The arena is spacious and my horse loves his pasture! BUT I've heard from a fellow boarder that the owner lady has some girl's horse here (I think the ranch owner bought the horse from someone else--but the horse was the girl's initially) and won't let the girl visit him/her. That confused me a little bit and made me sad to hear that. I like the place to board. Nice pastures & a big arena. But the owner can be dismissive and apparently, covetous. read more

My horse was on her way from Kentucky and I needed to find a place for her to be board. I called up White Cloud Ranch, thinking it might be an ideal situation for her..WRONG! the woman there was upset when I had to switch to Moorpark and wanted to hold my horse for ransome when she arrived. Maybe other people have had better experiences there, but mine was terrible. I will never have anything to do with this place again. As I said, this was a one time experience, and I like to give people a chance, but my experience was anything but pleasant. The woman also told me "horses aren't pets!" yelling to me on the phone. This happened seven years ago, so I don't know who's there now, but look elsewhere if you have in mind a horse being part of your family. read more

I wish I could give this place less than one star. The owner Carol is the most horrendous woman I have ever come across. When I told her I was leaving she tried to tell me that she would lock the gates up if I didn't pay a farrier fee of 55 dollars, my poor horse never got his feet done that month and she was just trying to get another payment out of me. Once you meet Jessica from Canyon Sport Horses a barn on the facility, you will understand why she is only able to train here. Extremely rude, bossy, overly opinionated and probably the worst "dressage" trainer I've come across in my 2 decades of riding in Southern California. Her new trainer Robert is not only rude but a scary/terrible rider. Besides the terrible people that work here...the footing in the pastures and arenas are horrendous and have injured several horses. The quality of hay is extremely poor. I was told there was worms found in the horses drinking water and at times the water to the pastures didn't even work. This place should be shut down by animal control. For your own sanity I recommend you do not board your horse here or even attempt to ride with Jessica or Robert. read more

Absolutely horrible. I was a boarder here for two years and had nothing but problems and drama, but it was all I could afford at the time. They do not maintain the facility well. The owner makes constant accounting mistakes (also confirmed by my other boarder friend, she had many issues as well) and she didn't hesitate to tell me to "go to hell" ...after it was HER fault! Yes...this actually happened...This happened after year 1.. (we later sent copies of checks...) ...this happened twice!!!! ......ALSO, after I left the barn, a friend boarding there moved shortly after as she said they basically forgot about her horse, they forgot to feed it, was standing foot high in muck. At the end of my boarding agreement, I made a deal with the owner to share my 10 x 10 shed I had set up with her boarders and gave her the code to my lock, since I wasn't sure if I was coming back there to board or not when I got a new horse-I had started looking for one at the time i made the agreement with her about 2 months ago. I had been coming weekly to go through stuff and get items i need for riding my other friend's horses down the street and it was neatly stored under a tarp on half the 10 x 10 shed-... there was room for at least 3 boarders on the other side of shed, i thought nice!! made a deal....2-3 months later started to clean my stuff out for a new barn (I purchased a new horse and didn't want to return, because the facilities had gotten even worse with holes in the arena and trainers that didn't want to share an arena NOW there is NOONE in EITHER barn...says a lot! Not just MY story happening here obviously)...and two weeks ago all was fine then last week my tarp and HALF MY STUFF WAS GONE...I called and asked where is was and she said she THREW IT IN THE DUMP....without even bothering to CALL me first to ask about it or if I could move it!! Can you imagine someone doing that ?!!! Her reasoning why was "she didn't have to" ......I am wondering if she forgot our conversation about the shed-I immediately cleaned out everything in the shed because i didn't want her throwing anything else away...police were involved as i took a boarders' saddle home with me because i thought it was my friends' who also had had many saddles and things in there (trust me, i told them to have the boarder call me to identify the saddle before the police were called- then they called police and while i was unloading stuff, I said YES PLEASE DO CALL THEM!!! because Ii realized on of MY saddles was MISSING TOO!!!) ...I brought her flowers and chocolates when she was sick over the two years I boarded there and referred clients to board at the time, had never been anything but nice to this old lady, but she is just a very bitter person, always looking for ways to yell at people, always making problems when there are none. Not worth the drama and after what she did to me i had to share this story. I came a few days later with a police escort and took my shed down with my husband and 3 friends. They came down and started yelling and screaming at us...because we started to dismantle it before police got there even though we had called them an hour before and let them know what time we were going to be there so they could be there as well...i was so nice to them...they didn't deserve it. I mean, all of it could have been avoided with one simple phone call to me. The police were SUPER nice to us and saw them for what they were - i heard them asking her why she didn't call me and her response was "I dont HAVE to call...." well that says a lot right there... .I also had to prove our deal about the Shed to the police (she was claiming i abandoned it and we never made the deal- but i can prove it - I told all my horsey friends about it that day too and also by saying well then how did she have the code to my lock? I literally just gave it to her a couple months ago... and police explained she was mentally ill probably..ugh.....seriously i had more drama there than the other 16 years of boarding at other places COMBINED (which was pretty much none....) ....SO. Seriously. This is the kind of stuff that can happen here to you even if you are nothing but nice.
