Brooke has learned responsibility and respect for animals. Mrs. Peck takes a serious approach to teaching her students about horse riding and care. She starts with the basics of how to care for horses like brushing and grooming them, cleaning the face, using the correct body terms and how to saddle and tack up a horse and ready for riding. She takes safety, very seriously her no nonsense approach teaches children not only to respect an animal that weighs over 1000 pounds. But to have compassion and love for horses. Do not come to Peck Farms expecting this to be a pony ride experience, it is not. She will teach your child how to be responsible. She will teach your child how to take ownership of riding a horse from start to finish. She teaches with love and kindness and compassion, but she also wants to make sure that your child understands directions thoroughly and that they do not get hurt or hurt her horses. I've sat in on my daughter's lesson I have watched and listened, and I appreciate the respect she gives my daughter as well as the kindness and compassion. She shows her. For anyone that says differently about Mrs. Peck. I invite you to come down and actually watch a lesson.Aa few reviews I've read do not match my experience or my daughter's. If you want your child to develop a love of riding horses both western or English saddle. I suggest you book a lesson with Mrs. Peck and come down and watch and see for yourself. Listening to a male instructor talk about how much he hated Trump and politics was so negative. I was here to have fun. I am just a young person who would like to have a good positive experience outside of my life of schooling. Lastly, I felt misled at times. The owner often made promises regarding the quality of the lessons and the state of the facility that did not hold up during my visits. This inconsistency was disheartening and left me feeling as though I could not trust the information provided. In summary, I cannot recommend Pecks based on my experience. There are many other stables that prioritize both quality instruction and a well-maintained environment, and I urge anyone considering lessons to explore those options instead. Lessons should be a joyful and enriching experience, but my time at Pecks was, unfortunately, anything but that. Owner posted a comment that I came during her husband's death. That is not true he died long before my visits. Sadly she has to use his death as an excuse.

If you want to learn to ride, improve your riding or need help training your horses properly, & your nervous as a new rider, the lesson horses there are safe & amazing, & Robert Nava is the guy!! Robert is an excellent horseman but is patient & kind with the lesson goers always pointing out the positive with "great job," or "looks great"! Always Important for confidence building! You learn more there than just riding, grooming, etc. You learn horsemanship! The stable is located on Stokes Canyon in beautiful Malibu!! It's so incredible there, with trails, right out the gate or just taking lessons in the large arena with Robert ~ I love that there is round pen too if needed. Everything you need is there depending on your goals. Western or English & or brand new to horses! Again, Robert is so the patient, so great with kids too! He teaches, safety, patience & confidence!! (I know I say that a lot, but important) ~ Located adjacent to Malibu Creek state park with miles of trails streams & sheer beauty around you! *Robert Nava is the resident horse trainer for Western or English, riders! The training with Erica has really opened up a world that I wasn't sure was there with Logan...he is thriving in her care...low key, but serious show barn...Erica has all the "tools" in her chest for success, and the experience to bring your horse along the "slow way" which is the "fast way"....can't say enough about this barn...truly perfect...

There is a sink with soap to wash hands and a porta potty on location. A short walk away is the public restroom for the Rancho Potrero trailhead that is fairly new. For camp there was temperature screening upon arrival. For the trail rides there was a limit of 5 (family members or family pods), age 7 and up, and not more than 200 lbs. My 9 year old son enjoyed the camp more than the trail ride as it taught him basics and provided more opportunities to interact with the horses. He was the only boy at camp but he really likes animals. They went out on short walking rides only, which was plenty for my son. The trail ride was a full hour and we saw coyotes, hawks, and kites. Adults really enjoyed it, but it was a little long for the 7 year old. The other slightly unexpected occurrence was of the horses going through their natural bodily motions during the ride: fart, pee and poop. We were untouched, it just elicited alot of reaction from the kids. Since this is an outdoor activity, dressing for the weather is the main difference that will make your experience enjoyable. In July, we used thinner long pants with vented athletic wear shirts. For Nov, we wore jeans with double layered long sleeved shirts. They do not cancel except for extreme weather. Their website has more information about camps, lessons and rides. We had positive interaction and are grateful to have this facility close to us, and at a reasonable price. Definitely recommend and we would do it again.

I came…read moreacross Patrick's info through a post on one of the local equestrian's FB pages earlier this year when I was looking for a horse to lease. I met with Patrick & Casey on my first visit. For starters, they were extremely knowledgeable about everything horse related. That aside, they were insanely warm and genuinely receptive. My 9 yo daughter started taking lessons with Casey and has learned so much. She's extremely patient but just thorough enough to keep my kid's attention. She knows her stuff, there's no question about that, and keeps her engaged while soaking it all in. Patrick is just as talented and has helped me get over a big hump which was my recently developed and thoroughly annoying fear I had after taking a pretty huge fall off a giant thoroughbred a few months prior. The experience had left the entire half of my body black and blue from impact (in addition to rolling 5 times like a lifeless rag doll..lol). My confidence had shriveled up into something unrecognizable. I had ridden horses my whole life starting when I was 8 and had always been pretty fearless. Needless to say, it was frustrating to say the least. I'm happy to say, he was triumphant at getting me through it! I was able to reach a mentally sound place by working seamlessly through it on one of their beautiful warmbloods, "Moose". By the end of my first lesson, I was confidently cantering again in stride with perfect leg yields. (Thank you Patrick!:) I seriously have nothing but great to say about these guys. As far as the facility goes, This place is sublime. It's so ridiculously peaceful and scenic here. It's truly amazing to see all the horses... just be...well horses, roaming naturally with the other horses in their specifically assigned pastures. The horses look genuinely happy and content. It never occurred to me that there was any other way to keep a horse other than being pent up in solitude in a compact X' by X' stall for most of the day. That is of course unless you have the fortunate enough to reside on a farm with lots of acres behind it to put them in. Which honestly, who around here really does? A+++ fyi- I find the negative 'review' that "Leah G." left, interestingly and hilariously ironic, especially since she literally refused to refund me the $350 dollars I paid her in advance for a package set of lessons right before she skipped town last July with absolutely no notice. I seriously considered filing a case with small claims, bc I'm a single mom and try hard to keep everything on a tight budget in order token our heads above water. I decided it wasn't worth the time and energy for the amount lost. It still stung and shocked me that someone would do that. So to see her on here attempting to give this place of all places, a bad name.. Clearly, by her own words she's incredibly unstable . Proceed with caution doing any kind of business with Leah Green.
