Went with a friend he got rudely and aggressively escorted out and was then thrown on the ground and punched for not listening. He is a military veteran and cannot hear very well due to an injury sustained during service. They refused to let him back in and were very rude and disrespectful when conversing with him. Probably the worst bar at the stockyards. They let in underage college and high school kids but don't let adults with white shirts or backpacks in. Not to mention they illegally stay open till 3 am. Good for an after hours dance to sober up, but man is there a rough crowd in here most nights. Staff is great, & attentive, & sometimes good local bands play live, but all in all, this is a for sure, authentic dive bar with all the trimmings. Gum, puke, pee, beer, and whatever is sticky on every surface in this place. Dont lean on A-N-Y-THING...dont wear open toed shoes, dont wear flip flops, your shoes will come off stuck on the floor! Cops do a good job of patrolling closer to 3, so that's good, & they watch closely after close to make sure no females are left to fall in with the wrong person(s). Hopping place with a mixed of tourist and local patrons. Bartenders are attentive and drinks are fairly priced. I got their "tourist punch" which they'll give you the glass to keep and you can comeback with the glass for refill for a much lower price. The punch itself is not bad. I hate to sound like that person, but racist staff. Came through one time with two guy friends. (to preface, dress code for this club does state no white tees, which we did not know until getting to the bouncer. However, I could not tell you how many plain white tees i saw going into that building) Long story short: one (black male) got turned away for wearing a white t shirt, the other (white male, black t shirt) got let in. So we took a lap around the building after seeing TWO other guys ahead of us in line wearing white t shirts get let in just fine, had the two friends switch shirts, and then our second time in the line (ten minutes later maybe) they both magically got let in?? Odd. However, when another worker over heard us talking about how the incident just went down, she decided to come and kick us out. No refunds. Exited by security, for two guys switching t shirts. PR's is pretty bad. Dead until 10:30-11:00 or so when suddenly it just gets packed. The sign out front claims "Voted Best Place to Meet Singles". Everyone must have seen that sign. Early in the night, there's some couples on the dance floor. Some are very good. Others aren't, but everyone's having a good time. Then the singles crowd rolls in. Almost every group through the door is only guys or only girls. They huddle together and ogle one of the other groups and wait until they're drunk enough to work up the nerve. Soon the country music stops, some heavy rap starts up, and the volume knob gets turned all the way up. You know when they turn it up so loud that you can't even tell what song it is anymore? It's that loud. This is when the small, dance crowd leaves and all that's left is, for lack of a better word, "bros". The country music eventually returns, but still at maximum volume. The dancing turns from line dancing and two-stepping to grinding. The bartenders are just awful. There are three girls behind the bar and two people trying to order drinks. Took several minutes to get one of them to acknowledge either one of us. When my friend went back to the bar to get another drink, they couldn't find her tab or her credit card. Keep in mind there's a crowd of maybe 15 people and they're already overwhelmed and losing credit cards. The only way to fix it was to tell the current bartender our old bartender's name. She never told us her name, so we had to wait for her to show up from wherever to get more drinks. I'm still confused as to how that even happened. The tabs were wrong at the end of the night, but looked like they were probably close to what they should be. Just thankful that the card wasn't lost. Drinks range from decently priced to overpriced. Some drinks are served in a stemmed mason jar with a flashing ice cube. I can't decide if that's cool or terrible. For as long as I can remember PR's has been notorious for rampant violence, but I haven't seen one there. Granted, they're also "world famous" for a bikini contest, but I'd never heard of it until I saw a sign on the door. While it's nice this place is open during COVID, they're treating their guests poorly. We noticed one lady specifically ignoring "locals" or those who looked like locals but consistently came to us because she knew we were out of town. We pulled our masks down to take sips and it seemed every time, she was there ready to yell at us. But didn't yell at anyone else standing around, dancing, or sitting. Also, we talked to some workers on they way out playing pool NOT wearing masks. The guy said to us, "we work here so we don't have to wear a mask while we play pool." Somehow, if you're standing you're going to get COVID, but if you're sitting, you're fine. I understand that they want to stay open, but you need to treat all guests the same. Chelsea did not make us feel welcomed at all and gave me and my boyfriend an incredibly rude, unnecessary, and uncalled for comment when we were only there to have a good time for my friend's birthday on Saturday, Oct. 25th. When I asked to speak to the manager, they told me that I could only contact them via cell phone. What kind of business is this? Is this how a business treats their customers? To add, the bartenders at the back weren't very welcoming to my group of friends and didn't care to ask if we wanted anything to drink and just stood there. I have the right to give this review and I wish I could've gave this place a better rating; however, I've received much better service elsewhere. I wouldn't go back to this place. The bartenders are not very friendly but the thing that made me give this place one star instead of three is their water policy. My friend ordered some drinks and then asked for a water with her drink and the bartender refused to give it to her because "their policy is not to give out water to prevent homeless people from coming in and asking for water". I've been to hundreds of bars close to where homeless people roam and I've never heard of this before. You can clearly tell that when someone comes in and pays for a drink with an American Express card that they are not a homeless person. STOPPED A WAY, TOO, DRUNK, GIRL GETTING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY ONE OF THE BOUNCERS! Went here this past weekend and was very disappointed. Please be careful who you trust when going there. Do not rely on the "security". Not the officers, the so-called bouncers. My friends and I were standing outside and we saw this drunk girl being walked out of the back. I thought she was just being kicked out because she drank too much. HE WAS HOLDING HER UP BECAUSE OF HOW DRUNK SHE WAS. Well he kept walking into the parking lot behind this van and all of the red flags went up. My boyfriend and I followed to make sure she was ok and we caught him in his car(shiny, new, red 4-door, paper plates, Hatchback style) taking advantage of her. He is mid to late 40s, 6'7ish black male and of course I stopped him. Completely sober and supposed to do his job not take advantage of girls that can barely stand. We talked to his co-worker(5'7ish, 40s white male, bald and reddish beard) and he basically passed it off and stood up for him because he was too much of a coward to say the situation isn't right. "If you don't like how things are run around here, there's the door" were his words to the terrible things his co-worker did(both with black, PR's staff shirts, on). It isn't ok. This girl(who I had several interactions with because drunk girls) could barely stand, barely talk she was so drunk. I don't even know how hold she was because she proceeded to tell me (after I asked where her wristband was to get back in to find her friends) that she wiped the x's off of her hands AND THESE "MEN" WHO PROBABLY HAVE DAUGHTERS ARE GONNA SIT THERE AND SAY THAT IT'S OK TO DO THINGS LIKE THAT. By the looks of some other reviews, seems like there's other scumbags that run the place too. I used to go here some years ago and it's sad how downhill it's gone. Went there for a birthday party last weekend and I must say that the hostess/bartender girl at the front named Chelsea made an extremely unnecessary and rude comment regarding my girlfriend "voluntarily" paying for 1st round of drinks. The age variance is quite large, drink prices are "meh," and truthfully if you want to have staff say rude things to you at least go to a gimmicky restaurant like Dicks so you can have fun being insulted. I love this bar. It is so beautiful inside. The ceiling in there gets me every time. They also serve the best food, I love their to-go fried shrimp. I went to him and told him I bought that drink and he needed to return it to the table. He told me to fuck off. I went and told management. I have been to this place multiple times. It is a good time everytime, but the place is a little trashy. I like how they have a dancefloor and they have an even spread of country and top 40/rap music throughout the night. The drinks are average price. The bartenders are cute and friendly. It really picks up as far as the crowd and dancefloor goes around 11:30 or so. This is the place we go when we have under 21 friends that come along. One night I was dancing on the dancefloor with a drink in my hand and a cop pulled me off the dancefloor and told me to go outside. I was pretty confused, but then realized my armband was under my sleeve. I showed him then he said "oh ok" and he let me go. They are pretty strict here as far as underage drinking goes, obviously. On Friday's and Saturday's there is a $5/$15 cover charge. I would rather go to a nicer bar and not pay a cover. read more
