We had wonder Cheese burgers, fries & onion rings! Yum! Grilled onions on burger too!

Went here to eat a last meal with my group of friends before we all had to head our separate ways for another year. It took over 45 minutes for a couple of burgers to come out to our table. We went here because we had to head to KCI later and we needed fast good food. Too bad it was so slow that I missed my flight. I won't be eating here again read more

Stopped here for lunch on our way through from Dallas to Kansas City. We had the cheeseburger and Suzy Q fries and it was yummy! The burgers were fresh and great taste with the grilled onions. One order of Suzy Q fries is plenty for two people! The place is small and you can eat at the counter or one of the booths. We ate at the counter and could watch the cook flip burgers. He was busy and friendly. We sat next to a couple who had been eating there since the 1950's! They said the breakfast is good there too so stop at White Grill for breakfast or lunch! I am just now getting around to trying the oldies but goodies in the area even after being here a while. White Grill sits atop a seriously weird intersection in a tiny building with historic and original charm. There is a traditional diner bar seating and probably 6-8 ish tables. From what I saw, I was the only one ordering from the menu but the waitress was very kind in telling me about the place when I told her I had never eaten there before. I did the bacon cheese burger with Susie's. There are two guys making all the food right in front of your face (maybe off to the side a little, but whatever). The burger was great- not overlooked but still crispy edges with good bacon. The Susie's were good and I'm glad I followed the waitresses suggestion of getting a half order. My meal with a pop was $8. It's a great place to go eat by yourself and be left alone if you'd like, or to meet up with old friends. I'm sure I'll be back here on my next (diet) cheat day! read more

Good food. Service can be hit-and-miss. They have a unique pull-up-and-honk drive through system of ordering. Could certainly be cleaner. Very good prices for what you get. Your food gets prepared right in front of you. read more

This is a fantastic old diner. People are friendly, fast, and hard working. The waitress never missed a beat and never took a break, wonderful service. Food was superb, I had the tenderloin sandwich, not smashed, hand breaded goodness. read more

Small, simple diner. If you are expecting to be blow away, you will be disappointed. It is what it is - small diner that serves ok food. Not extremely clean, sometimes staff is not friendly either - food is pretty good. The mess is a must try, just dont stare at the person making it. Based on the prior reviews, we thought we were in for a slice of heaven. We were mistaken. The place is an old diner, with spartan decor, which in a way is charming. It does not seat a lot of people, maybe 25-30, tops, with an old time counter that lets you watch the cook do his job. Note, do not watch the cook do his job. This is your classic old school greasy spoon diner where everything is fried, either on the flat top or deep fried. If you are into that, then you are in luck. My wife had a cheeseburger and Susie q fries. They were decent, but nothing spectacular. I had their "BBQ" pork, which the waitress assured me was great, because they were almost sold out. It was an overly roasted chunk of pork that had had never seen a smoker, served with a bottle of BBQ sauce. Very gross actually. The two sides were cole slaw, which tasted sour, and cottage cheese, which was room temperature. When I got the warm sides, I started looking around the place. I was concerned about the cleanliness, and food safety. A good, deep cleaning of everything definitely was in order. Overall, not a fan, and although I love a good burger, I do not see it being at this hole. read more

Have been here many times. Took FOREVER to get food...hamburgers. Cook said the grill's top had different temp.....so why did EVERYONE get their food and we sat there (45 minutes). Server refilled only half out drinks and didn't ask the rest. When we finally got food, it was a tad crispy. Disappointed but will try again. read more

Great burgers and onion rings. Burgers have the taste you can only get from a hot, well seasoned grill. Tenderloin sandwich was a disappointment, not much flavor. Great Burger! Small place. Easy stop off the highway. Great place to stop between KC and the Southern Missouri.

Grew up in Nevada. Been eating here many years. Several grease fires and remodelings later, food is still basically the same. And that's a good thing! Some new additions over the years. Especially since the '50's. Not so much a drive-in where you used to drive around back, park, honk for service and eat in your car. With the additions, much more inside seating now. Since the smoking ban, only a few stubborn locals refuse to obey. Since I moved away in the '70's, I use any excuse to stop for those grilled onions and home made Susi-Q's. Only thing close for me is Town Topic on Broadway in KC, MO. And they use frozen fries! Real local food. Used to be another in Fort Scott, but it closed decades ago. Also was one called Firp and Bob's on Austin St. which was owned by the same owners in the '60's. Been gone a long time as well. Now the only place for grease relief! Not sure Delway on the West edge of town is still open. Was a good one also. read more

The worst part of the White Grill is what some folks consider the best: its dated diner interior. The burgers are good, not the greatest, as some think. So due to both reasons, I don't go there often. When I do, I usually order the barbeque beef sandwich. For the price, it's the best thing on the menu. And I know that the Susie-Q's are among the most popular items there, but even when asked, they can't seem to fry them as crisp as they do at Del-Way (whose burgers are worse and manages to have even more flies than White Castle). read more

This place is small, but has a homey feel. We had a group of 5, so we bellied up to the counter as the tables only hold 4. Linda and the rest of the staff were very pleasant. The cheeseburger and onion rings here cannot be beat! Maybe the best onion rings I've ever had. Burger was juicy and flavorful. Everyone in our group gave rave reviews. This is not a gourmet restaurant. It is though, an old fashion diner where you get the old fashion feel. Brings back old memories. Where you can still get a real vanilla or cherry coke with the oldtime ice. Great burger- with fried onions and great Susie Q's. We use to have one in Pittsburg Kansas back in the 50's and 60's.
