The Cider Mill is about all I've done in Louisburg, so it was nice to be able explore town a little more and try a local restaurant! Miss B's Cafe is a southern classic! I had my family with me and a lot of the locals stopped by to chat especially to say hi to all my girls- it was so sweet! We were there on a random Friday, and it surprisingly wasn't busy, but I could see it getting crowded on a Saturday morning! It seems like they had a lot of seating though. It was hard to pick what to eat, but I ended up with a classic breakfast and it didn't disappoint! Definitely wouldn't mind stopping by again if I'm in town! read more

My family visited Miss B's on a busy weekend morning for brunch after exploring the Louisburg Cider Mill. First of all, it should be noted that this is a super popular local spot in Louisburg so be prepared to wait if you roll in on a weekend morning. When we arrived we had to wait a bit but it wasn't bad as the place is bigger than it seems. Once seated we were treated to what I'd describe as homemade comfort food. Miss B's feels very much like small town cafes that I visited around Kansas when I was travelling and working for the state. What stands out here is the friendliness of the staff, especially since we weren't locals, and the variety of food on the menu. Overall this is a great spot to visit if you are in the area. Food is good, folks are friendly, and it gets you into town to explore Louisburg a bit. I'd recommend this place for breakfast or lunch as it's very casual, and the atmosphere definitely lends itself much more to earlier meal times. read more

Cinnamon rolls so good on hey warn you when they're getting low on inventory, but don't worry, they make more! Bustling with locals and passerby's. True small town breakfast destination. We've tried both breakfast and lunch now at Miss B's and it is Sooooo worth the drive to enjoy this comfort food! I had the chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes and my husband had the chicken fried chicken with gravy, mashed potatoes and the best green beans either of us have tasted in years. Went to Sunday brunch with 4 friends . Waited 10 minutes for seating then all ordered fried chicken dinners which then required 55 minutes for food to arrive . Food was very good , great green beans , fabulous cinnamon roll , great fried chicken with mashed potatoes but a bit short on the white gravy. Always looking for breakfast in a "mom & pop" place, we were overjoyed when Miss B's popped up on YELP. I'm just gonna say it was worth the short drive off the main highway. It was a Sunday morning, and we were afraid we would have to wait while the local church crowds moved in and out. Nope! We were seated immediately in a large dining area that isn't visible from the front door. We really loved our table, because on that morning, Brooke K was assigned to our area. Everything was delicious. I had Biscuits and Gravy (I chose two), and husband ordered a #3---Eggs & ?. He enjoyed two eggs, hash browns, rye toast, and was able to substitute ham steak instead of the regular bacon or sausage. We shared. Brooke is probably one of the best servers we have ever had. . .anywhere. She was aware of her area's needs, almost before the guest knew they needed it. Our coffee cups were never low, our questions were answered with a smile, and her willingness to help us lasted for the entire time we were there. This was a nice find on our travels. Looking for something for lunch or maybe late breakfast and found Miss B's cafe. It was a lovely small town restaurant and it was hopping over lunch. Solos, families, couples, friends, they were all there. The place was huge with two main areas for seating. I opted for a late breakfast (served until they close, except you can't get pancakes after 11am). I got the french toast which was buttery, flavored with cinnamon, and served hot. I also got a side of bacon which was crispy and good. Husband got a chicken bacon ranch sandwich. It came recommended by the waitress. He loved it. I stole a few of the homemade chips, yum. Pepsi, no coke. Parking lot in front. Service was excellent. Great stop! read more

We have been to Miss B's several times for breakfast and have never been disappointed. One of the few places where I can order an egg 'over medium' and it is done perfectly. Service is friendly and efficient. Decor could use some sprucing up, but it is clean and comfortable. read more

I drove by this place on a Sunday drive a few weeks back and came in today to try it. Very neat place. Everyone in the place was very nice and very helpful. My coffee was always topped off and food came out really fast. I had the biscuits and gravy with a side of hash browns the B&G were very good and I got three for $4.99. While there we saw them setting up for a Fried Chicken buffet that starts at 10:30. Homemade pies looked amazing but too full to order a slice. We will definitely give that buffet a shot someday soon. read more

This is a small town cafe not to miss! They are doing everything right. It reminds me of Cooky's in Golden City, Missouri, except it's much larger. Great food, great service, and great prices. I've lived in the Kansas City metro for almost fourteen years and I've become very comfortable here in the Midwest. But in my heart of hearts I'm comfortable admitting I'm still a small town boy from the Texas Gulf Coast. I don't think about it much, but this week gave me a few opportunities to reminisce: one while I was shoveling snow and thinking, "I'd never have done this back home." The other when I visited Miss B's Cafe. Unassuming and plain, the storefront itself shows you what to exoect-- homespun charm and comfort food on the menu. (Driving through Louisburg to get there was like a trip down memory lane in and of itself.) I was greeted on entry by a server across the room... Found a seat and within a minute had a cup of coffee on my table. She asked what I wanted and though it was breakfast time, she suggested I start with pie... so I ordered a slice of coconut cream pie, which was really good. About halfway through my pie, the biscuits and sausage gravy arrived. It was also good, though not extraordinary. The gravy was smooth with a nice presence of black pepper-- not too strong, but definitely noticable. I paused with dessert to enjoy the entree, then went back to finish my pie. My coffee cup never ran out, and the atmosphere was quite relaxed. My total bill was ten dollars and change, but I left a pretty healthy tip simply because I enjoyed the experience so much. If you're looking for something fancy, this isn't it, but if you're comfortable in a down-home setting and you crave old-fashioned favorites, Miss B's is worth the trip. read more

Miss B's is really good. It's tough to find a real house-made country fried steak and this one was fresh, hot, crunchy...maybe with a little less gravy than the steak and potatoes required. Reuben on marbled rye was very good too. Mashed potatoes were in remarkable and fries were just OK. I wish cooks would realize that all you need to do to kick-up a frozen fry is double fry it like they do at Wyandot BBQ. It not that hard. Service is ok. When they're busy I wouldn't try to get a smile or small talk, when they"re busy they act like it. I asked for iced tea with lemon and found out there was no lemon after the tea was placed 9n the table. But it's a diner, it's fine. read more

Stopped for breakfast and it was fantastic. The sausage gravy was full of flavor. My husband got the chicken fried steak and eggs and the portion was huge. The fries had the potato skins on some and our food was very hot and fresh. We got there about 1:10 and it was not crowded but there were quite a few customers. It took about 20 min to get our food. Our server was pleasant and attentive without being overly so. The place was clean but the decor wasn't much. Looked like maybe they aren't finished yet. Prices about what you would expect. $9.95 for burger & fries. In thinking back now, I think I might have been charged for a cheeseburger when I only ordered a hamburger because both meals were same price on the ticket. With that being said, I have ordered take out from them several times and I have thoroughly enjoyed everything I have ordered from them. Their chicken strips are great.... the fries, oh my goodness. Love at first bite. Their cinnamon rolls are so incredibly good! They were so soft and not overly sugary, which in my opinion makes a cinnamon roll the best. It was perfect. And they had red velvet cake today. SO. GOOD. I can't wait to try more of their baked goods. My spouse gets the Philly and he loves it. Biscuits and gravy are on point. Breakfast is good as well. We had a great meal here! This is the type of hometown restaurant that reminds me of "tje good old days". Nothing too frilly or fancy, but good portions, fair prices and friendly service. Oh, and PIE! We really just wanted a light lunch. I ordered egg salad sandwich with pasta salad. Mom got the Double BLT. The egg salad was good, but that pasta salad was GREAT. Mom didn't notice the lady behind her that had the BLT, so she didn't realize she'd be getting what looked like a full pound of bacon on her sandwich. It probably wasn't a full pound, but it was a lot; not like those places that take a strip of bacon and cut it into 3 pieces to call it 3 strips of bacon. We ended the great meal by sharing a piece of coconut pie. We left happy and spent less than $30, with tip. read more

I was driving from KC to Fort Scott and found this random spot on Yelp. I am glad I did. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. I really like the flavor of the breading they used on the Country Fried Steak, light and crispy. The bacon was excellent quality, tasty, I love me some bacon. It's a pretty big restaurant with lots of seating located in a strip mall. It's not a fancy place but most diners aren't. All of their food is home cooked and they are very proud of that, as they should be. Hubby had the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and applesauce and loved all of it. I had the jalapeño pepperjack burger with fried mushrooms. The burger was great - they didn't skimp on the jalapeños, the cheese or the patty. I enjoyed the mushrooms as well - you don't see them on too many menus. The pies looked great but we were too full to try one this time. I can't wait to visit them again! read more
