I bought a supposedly "bolt on" Supersprint exhaust this past summer for my BMW Z3 that just would not fit correctly. I tried fitting it and it wasn't right. I took it to another shall-not-be-named shop in York, PA on a friend's recommendation and they actually made it worse. So I just did a quick search of custom exhaust installers in the Towson area and Whitemarsh Muffler came up. I looked at the website, liked that it was a small, family run shop, and figured I'd zip down there one Saturday morning to see if they could help. The owner, John, is a heck a nice guy. He put the car on the lift and we looked at it. He made some suggestions on how to get the exhaust installed right which involved cutting the pipe between the cat and the exhaust and custom bending a new pipe so everything fit right. That way, the exhaust sat high enough and straight underneath, and more importantly the exhaust tips did not touch the rear bumper and damage it. He gave me an estimate, which was very reasonable, and we scheduled an appointment for the following week. I dropped the car off in the evening and it was ready to go the following morning before 9 AM. John left it on the lift for when I arrived, raised it, and showed me the work and what it took to get it installed right. Everything looked great and his eye for what was needed was perfect. I had a pretty simple request for these guys. Remove the heat shields on my resonator and front cat on my 2009 forester. That or tighten the bolts to fix the rattle. Simple. There was an audible rattle that I located coming from a few specific heat shields. Instead of doing what I asked, they welded all of the shields, which didn't fix the problem (actually made it worse), and charged me $80. Didn't call me to ask me if thats ok. They just did it. The guys reasoning was 'well, there were too many heat shields on this car'. Ok buddy. On top of that, when I arrived to have it done, the guy acted like I was inconveniencing him. I'm not paying you to treat me like a know nothing peasant. It was a very uncomfortable experience. Now I am stuck with the same problems compounded by the fact that the shields are now welded. I am supremely disappointed. I will never go back to this place. Maybe they are good working on trucks and older cars, but I wouldn't trust them to work on modern exhaust systems. Thats just my 2 cents. Go somewhere else. read more

First job I had done here where new headers back replaced by John.....very detailed in his work and everything was done better then I expected. Love the Flowmaster exhaust he recommended and put into my 71 Chevelle....sounds awesome. Second job - the big one - was leaking so much oil out of the engine that he informed me the only really good way to make sure everything would be sealed and fixed was to pull the engine. Not only did he degrease (3 day job) the engine but then he painted it Chevy Orange. We replaced the dual carbs down to a single Quick Fuel carb, new cam, new timing chain, new clutch, new valve covers and new air filter. I was expecting my car to really be in his shop for far longer then it actually was.....I am absolutely happy with the work done and highly recommend John for anything you may need or even be thinking about doing to your historic/muscle/cruiser car. He is honest and upfront about the work that needs to be done and is very detailed in the work he does. read more

We were so lucky to find White Marsh Muffler and John Watkins. It was around 7pm on a Friday night of Easter weekend when we began having car trouble on our trip from New York to Virginia. We got off I-95 in White Marsh, MD and began calling dealerships in the area. All the places we called were closing for the night and were already booked up for Saturday. We happened to see White Marsh Muffler as we were driving along. The owner, John Watkins, was locking up, but after hearing our situation, he hopped in the truck to hear what was going on, then put it on the lift to look it over. He quickly identified the problem, located the part, and said he would be in at 7am the next day to fix it. We were amazed at our good fortune of finding such helpful, generous and honest mechanic in our time of need. The truck was ready by 9am on Saturday and we were on our way - incredible service at very reasonable price - we were so grateful.
