    Sampler Platter for two
    Pete R.

This place gets my OMG award! We came to the 5030 for pizza and beer a few weeks ago and saw that the white Paper BBQ was upstairs and knew we had to try it. Today we did, and OMG this place is amazing. Food: we got the sampler for two with Brisket, Pulled Pork and Turkey, a side of Mac and Green Chili Mash. The Brisket had the darkest smoke ring I've ever seen and has an amazing salt pepper rub that is to die for. The Pulled Pork was moist and flavorful and the Turkey was perfect. The Green Chili Mash had a great tang to it. Atmosphere: there are several TV's and great mix of country music playing in the background. Service: we ordered our meats at the counter and served almost immediately. We ordered beer at the bar and they have a great assortment of beers from Berthoud Brewing. Tips: get here early, we could hear they were running out of meats, and check to make sure their open because they are heading to Texas for a competition. Oh and lastly, very affordable, our sampler was $20 and the beers were $6.

Ribs were good but not tender enough IMO.

We were staying at La Quinta and went over and grabbed some food here, funky place with a great vibe! We got the 2 person sampler and brisket/mac and cheese. The mac and cheese with brisket was a generous portion for sure, the brisket was on the dry side but not bad, the ribs tasted ok but was not "falling off the bone" tender, the corn bread, the beans and the coleslaw pretty bland, it was not a bad meal but neither an awesome meal.

As always it's my pleasure and honor to find and represent the people and places that go out of there way to serve us. Thus is such a place!! I've driven by this area for the last 4 plus years. Started noticing a brewery and we would always say we need to stop there are check it out, well today I did. The building is awesome, they'd done a great job. The bottom is the brewery the upstairs is the BBQ. First trip you just have to sample the meat!! Although I decided to go off the normal pulled pork route and do brisket, Turkey and jalapeños Elk sausage. As I'm waiting I'm taking a few pictures and sampling the pickles and sauce. The owner says something lime "I hope the review is good". Yeah me too!! My food comes out and as you can see it looks pretty good, a little like competition presentation. I start with the Mac&Cheese, ya see a lot of Texas BBQ places do good bbq but act like the sides are a afterthought. I'm happy to report this guy does them right. Really good Mac, excellent homemade creamed corn. The cornbread was tasty, but cold and it had butter for it, which doesn't work on cold cornbread. The Turkey was very moist and tasted good, but just not a fan of this Turkey. The brisket was a little like competition brisket. If you folder it over your finger it stays together and you see the grains separate without falling apart which is what most people look for. Good smoke ring decent flavor. Not as moist as what I would like personally and I would sure to have a little more bark on it but overall good solid smoked brisket. The hog sausage was definitely the highlight for me nice spice cooked well good flavor not too tough. The other highlight is the Bama sauce really really good. In fact all the sauces were good. They have original which is a little thick and sweet, spicy and extra spicy both are really good, but the bama sauce now that's the real deal. Sit upstairs have a beer enjoy the scenery go downstairs and eat outside have a beer down there great place gray building great service. And the owner runs the place and he cares about what people think. He asked for my opinion and I gave him my honest opinion. And of course opinions are like you know what everybody has one not everybody's preference is the same. I have lived in Texas for 20 years and so far there's a few that's come extremely close but there's no barbecue like Texas barbecue. But more importantly there's no better place than a place that's run by the owner and cares about what people think and might make adjustments accordingly. I wish this place much success and I'll definitely be back to try the other things on the menu

Ribs, brisket, pulled pork, sausages, collards, honey mustard coleslaw, fries, cornbread!

Really great bbq! Fast service and delicious meats and sides. The pickles are tasty, as are the sauces :)

Farmers hash, hash and Brisket, and French toast. Also a Bloody Mary.

This was surprisingly amazing food. My family and I came for Brunch. They didn't have "kid" type menus but adjust it and made it kid style price and portions for my kiddos. BBQ sauce was so delicious!!! No complaints here.

The restaurant was clean and well kept. The staff were kind, quick and professional. I was not prepared for this experience but was so glad we came. Brisket and pulled pork were the stars besides that Marion berry cobbler! The cheesy potato's and mac were also amazing!!! We left full and with left overs.

This time I finally stopped, and since it's called Serious Texas Barbecue--and I'm from Texas--I had high hopes. I ordered the ribs and brisket, along with cheesy potatoes and beans. The beans were originally just regular pinto beans (not sweet), so I asked them to add brown sugar. Once they did that, they were phenomenal. Easily my favorite side after the adjustment. The cheesy potatoes, unfortunately, were a miss. They tasted a bit soggy and like they'd been sitting out for a while, so those weren't great. As for the meats: The ribs were okay. They didn't have much seasoning, but they were very tender, so I'll give them that. The brisket was the standout for me--definitely the best thing I ordered. It was absolutely delicious in terms of texture and flavor, though even that could've used a bit more seasoning. Now...the barbecue sauce. This was the biggest letdown for me. It honestly tasted like applesauce, which just isn't my thing at all. They only had two sauce options, and I really wish there was more variety, especially for a place branding itself as Texas barbecue. Overall, it was just okay. I don't think I'd go back--not because it was terrible, but because I'm from Texas and I'm very picky about my barbecue, especially the sauce. That said, the staff was friendly, and I can't complain about the service at all. If you're not super picky about BBQ, you might enjoy it more than I did--but for me, it didn't quite hit the mark I forgot to mention the apple cobbler. It was yummy but to much of the cobbler topping. I felt like thats what it mostly had vs some apples

A review from an Asian visiting from SoCal/OC:…read more This is for anyone but also uniquely targeted to Asians and those new to Hawaiian food. If you have been seeking to quench your longing (or curiosity) for asian flavors, this place is for you. My family ordered chicken katsu, short rib, and spam musubi. Things you take for granted that Kona nailed: rice, Mac salad, cabbage, katsu/teriyaki sauces. Katsu and short ribs were on point. My toddlers gobbled both of their musubis. My fellow Asian will have their souls relieved. The newcomer will have their taste buds awakened. Do support this business! Nothing wrong with "asian fusion" that blends the traditional with local flavors/preferences, but there's nothing like the taste of home. Thank you Kona!

Some diners were eating inside, so it wasn't completely dead. Food came out after 10-ish mins or so, but it was given to us by the cashier already packaged! We ordered the Hawaiian plate and the chicken/beef combo plate. We'd been to Kona Hawaiian BBQ at other cities before, so we knew what to expect. It tasted the same as the other locations -- everything was good! It even had more veggies than I remember so that was a plus! We had big pieces of broccoli and the meats were on top of steamed cabbage. It was exactly what we needed! The plates come with 2 scoops of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. This place always hits when we visit a location!
