Things you take for granted that Kona nailed: rice, Mac salad, cabbage, katsu/teriyaki sauces. Katsu and short ribs were on point. My toddlers gobbled both of their musubis. Traveled to the Denver/Fort Collins this past weekend and we wanted something easy. Decided to get takeout here since we were staying down the road and it was less than an hr until their closing time. Clean place, got greeted by the cashier as we approached. Some diners were eating inside, so it wasn't completely dead. Food came out after 10-ish mins or so, but it was given to us by the cashier already packaged! We ordered the Hawaiian plate and the chicken/beef combo plate. We'd been to Kona Hawaiian BBQ at other cities before, so we knew what to expect. It tasted the same as the other locations -- everything was good! It even had more veggies than I remember so that was a plus! We had big pieces of broccoli and the meats were on top of steamed cabbage. It was exactly what we needed! The plates come with 2 scoops of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. Food is always good since it is the closest I can get to "local" Hawaiian plate lunches. The service is fast and the people are always friendly (Longmont and Loveland) locations. It's a fast food area so you can dine in or take out. The restaurants are always clean and inviting. I always get the chicken or fish katsu plate. read more

First time trying this place but it was right by where we were shopping so stopped in. I really like macaroni salad so was happy to see that on the menu....yuck. this stuff was so bland and just tasted gross. I ordered the Kona fire chicken and that was all fatty! This is the second time I have had Kona Hawaiian BBQ cater a lunch for me at a company. These folks are awesome!! The arrive on time, the food is hot, tasty and very plentiful! Great place for your Hawaiian BBQ fix, Not exactly island food but pretty darn close. I had the Hawaiian BBQ Mix. Chicken was a little dry, overcooked but beef and short ribs were fine. Decent lunch crowd and food came out quick and hot. I highly recommend you give it a try! read more

We loved our food! All 3 of us had what I would call high quality meat, veggies, and perfectly cooked rice. It's not fancy or meant to be, but I want meat that's not full of bits of fat, veins, unexpected bones, etc and mine was perfect. Kalua pork with great sauce in the side, (no fat bites!), delicious steamed rice, all good! Opened the box and thought just the look of everything was too notch for take out! My spouse and I stopped at Kona on Saturday night. We'd never been but saw their sign and decided to stop in. My spouse ordered the short ribs and I got the BBQ chicken and fried white fish. I also got one of their nectars and my spouse got a fountain drink. The food was delicious! I really loved the fish. The rice, mac salad, and broccoli was really good too. My spouse also loved his meal and he enjoyed the mac salad even though he's usually not a fan. We loved their furniture and the overall vibe of the place. Hope to go back soon. read more

This place is delicious! I ordered the BBQ Chicken and shrimp combo plate and it was very good. The food was very fresh. The plate comes with 2 scoops of rice and one scoop of macaroni. I had them switch it for me and put two scoops of macaroni and one scoop of rice. This pricing is great for what you get. There isn't much to say about service since you order from the register and pickup your own food but the person who took our order was very nice. I highly recommend this place. read more

Nice little lunch stop. The food was good. Mostly deep fried type choices. Some of the combo plates come with a salad and a yummy dressing. They have choices of pork, beef, chicken, fish, shrimp. The plates are served with streamed white rice. I had the Kaiua pork and katsu chicken plate with salad and rice. It was tasty. We also had a plate of Hawaiian chicken and fried shrimp. They have boba teas and other beverages. The staff were extremely nice, helpful and friendly. They also have a drive through which is nice so you can get your good to go quickly. read more

This place was yummy. We got the teriyaki chicken plate, and we had 2 kids with us. They got the mini dinners that came with macaroni salad and rice and teriyaki chicken. Everything was very good here. The employees were friendly and it didn't take too long for our food to be ready. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the teriyaki sauce was delicious. They also had some extra out in the seating area, so you could get a dipping cup to add even more sauce. I would come here again to try something different as I'm assuming the rest of the menu is delicious too. There were a lot of people that came and picked up their food to go. Almost feels like they want you to take your order home and not eat it there. Menu is standard fare for Hawaiian food. I had the terrakyi chicken dinner with 2 scoops of rice, macaroni salad, lots of chicken thighs sliced to make it easy to eat and cabbage under neath and two broccoli pieces of husband got a combo plate of BBQue beef and crispy shrimp which came with rice and a green salad. Extra sauce is available for those that need it. (I love extra sauce) It's a walk up to order and then you get a number. It didn't take that long to get our food and it was fairly busy on a Friday night. Many of the orders were to go while we decided to eat in. This was my first time here and I'm not that impressed. The short ribs that the staff recommended had a really good flavor but they were not very tender. For $30 (ribs, crab Rangoon and fountain drink) I really expected better. The food was really pretty looking but it just wasn't my favorite meal. I got 3 ribs which isn't a lot of meat. I should have stuck with my first choice and got the fiery chicken. I also should not have left a tip. You go order at the front just like Burger King and get your own drink and whatever else you might need. Then they call your number and you pick up your own food. I usually had to drive to L&L to get Hawaiian BBQ, so I'm glad that they now have a place in northern CO that is closer to the local food I ate growing back on the islands. Their chicken Katsu was great because they use chicken thighs, which tends to be more similar to how it's made where I grew up. I've also had the bbq chicken which was great. There are a few other "Hawaiian BBQ" around town but to me this is the best hands down. read more

This was a great find in an area full of restaurants. I think it is a perfect reminder of a Hawaiian plate of Terri beef with white rice and Mac salad. Their BBQ mix plate give you a taste of everything and is good. But I am Biased to the beef plate for the portion of meat you get. Their service was very friendly and polite. They did a great job both times I went and even let me order right at closing and made me feel like it was not a problem.
