Kym and team really took the feedback during out tasting and made adjustments for the second tasting we came in to closer to the date. I've been fortunate enough to sample White Pepper's catering menu at several events in Portland over the last few years. Their food is incredible, but even more so, they really put a lot of love into their plating and presentation. I'm always impressed. I stopped by their public tasting room this evening (they're only open to the public for dinner Thursday evenings) and ordered the black and blue burger and Belgian fries. I'm still thinking about how delicious the burger was several hours later! The $15 burger was served in a basket with a generous portion of seasoned fries. The patty was blackened with a delicious blend of spices, and had the perfect amount of crunch with each bite. The blue cheese, bacon, aioli and arugala didn't overpower the burger - it was the star of the show! But everything combined resulted in the most delicious burger I've ever tasted! Nice work, White Pepper! The folks at White Pepper are always super friendly and accomodating, and their prices are in alignment with what I'd expect to pay elsewhere. The tasting room has a hip and modern vibe, and the folks here really understand lighting! With candlelit tables and moody sconce lighting throughout the space, I really feel comfortable and can lose myself in a delicious meal and great conversation with friends. First off, this would've been a 5 star if it wasn't for the incorrect wait time. They took an extra 20 mins putting the pick up time at about 50 minutes from the time you place your order. That changes your food by the time you get to eat it. The white pepper burger, cauliflower burger and the fried chicken is pretty tasty. White Pepper catered our wedding in December of 2023. We tasted two caterers and White Pepper was the clear choice. We can't recommend them enough. We worked with Wil and he was so helpful. Our venue only had a prep kitchen and White Pepper rented the necessary equipment to cook outside on the sidewalk so that the food would be fresh. Day of went super smoothly and all staff were so kind and professional. All of our guests were raving about the food and our guests with allergies and/or dietary restrictions commented how accommodating they were. The taste test we actually did twice because we wanted to change something. without question Wil accommodated us. we found a meal that we were excited about. The ordering and of rental items was sooooo easy. I just told Wil and he without question made it happen. my numbers changed and he never showed anything but professionalism. Our night started with being greeted by the familiar face of the taste testing host! got we water right away. let me enjoy the space before the crowds came. after some time they found me and brought some appetizers to us. after the family style was served a table (my friends put the tables up) fell with plates crashing. Before I could turn around to make a plan they managed it and it was not ever a problem for me. Thel left the cake and left overs in great shape! so many left overs! It's purely for dinner, 5-9 pm, and called Burger Thursday - but there are also salads, cocktails, tasty little things to eat alongside your booze, and dessert. I want to bring everyone I know here because the food is delicious and the prices are almost a relief - so reasonably priced, thank you!!! The working class of PDX can finally eat out again!!! :) It seems like you can eat either in the lovely, light-filled Tasting Room or at the clean & modern bar; however note it is not a massive space (because they're not really a restaurant; catering is their main jam). On my first visit back - 5 pm - the space just happened to be dominated by several families with kiddos running around (which like... cool but... do kids eat pork belly and salmon burgers? There isn't a kid's menu... maybe today's youth have more sophisticated palettes than I ever did, lol). I had a turkey burger with za'tar and feta cheese and it was perfect; the fries remain on point. I really want to go back for a happy hour thing with friends, to give my love to the booze and fried cheese curds; or I could see taking a date here on the later end of evening for a lovely date (finished off with those chocolate chip cookies baked to order... We were SO lucky to have gone with White Pepper as our caterer for our wedding reception. We had to cancel our original wedding due to COVID, but as my wife hadn't been able to wear her dress and I hadn't worn my suit, we wanted a small reception + photos with our families. Becca from White Pepper was amazing - she helped guide our decision-making in order to plan exactly the reception we wanted. The food was even better than what we planned for our original wedding, and the drinks were delicious. They even recommended a better alternative beer compared to one of our choices, as the weather forecast for the day turned out to be much warmer than we expected. The whole team was familiar with our venue (Blockhouse), which made it so easy for them to set up, serve, take down, etc., while allowing us to continue having a great time with our families. Great caterer for our small event! We worked with Alyssa to find the perfect table spread for a cocktail party wedding reception. The food was delicious, local, seasonal and unique. The servers were very attentive and kept everything fresh and refilled during the whole event. They cut and served our wedding cake, too. We only had 50 people and wanted a charcuterie spread with some extra crudites and tarts, and they delivered. A few details got lost between the coordinator, chef and servers, like our desire for the wedding cake to sit within the table spread and that we requested their compostable plates and utensils, but with all the emails sent back and forth with my requests and changes it is understandable. read more

We searched high and wide for the perfect company to entrust with doing the food & drinks for our wedding (since food was one of the most important elements of our wedding) and could not have found a more perfect company - seriously, you might as well stop searching and book them ASAP because we're sure they're about to become the next big thing in Portland catering! Wil and his assistant Marse' are so thoughtful, sweet, and just all around great people and incredibly easy to work with. They helped with every detail, providing advice on even how much alcohol to order (we had them prepare the drinks but bought the alcohol) and worked perfectly with our other vendors, which was so important. They even coordinated with Random Order to get our pies and safely transported them to our venue. They also source from the best, local suppliers in the pacific nw (i.e. olympia provisions for the charcuterie) so you know you're getting the highest quality food. Wil even invited us over for a tasting and we were just blown away by how delicious and artfully prepared everything was - even the basics, like the asparagus was so fresh and memorable. My only regret at my own wedding was not carving out enough time to eat and enjoy the feast they prepared since we were so busy interacting with the guests. The day of the wedding, the guests raved to us about how unique and tasty the signature drinks were. Every detail, from the chalkboards written by Wil's wife, to the charcuterie arrangement (still dying over it) and of course, the food itself, which perfectly encapsulated the pacific northwest, was so well-executed thoughtfully prepared. Finally, they are extremely affordable for what they provide (we did our research) and we're honestly surprised they don't charge more (as their food rivals caterers 2x the price) At the end of the night, they brought out chicken & waffle skewers that were a HUGE hit with the guests - some people described the scene of our friends descending upon the staff who brought it out akin to when a rare Pokemon is spotted and everyone rushes over ;) It was the perfect ending to a culinary journey of a wedding. I've been looking forward to trying the food here and would have given 5 stars had it not been for an issue with the fried food being soaked with grease. Working in kitchens, I know that this is either an issue with the fryer temperature not being hot enough or overloading the fryer. I ordered 2 cauliflower burgers which came with the Belgian fries, green salad, 2 cookies and their premixed pineapple mixer. I spent about $55 with tip. The cauliflower burgers were so tasty flavor-wise, but we noticed upon opening the box that the bottom of both buns were saturated with grease from the fried cauliflower that was literally dripping with fryer oil. The fries were perfectly seasoned, but again, dripping and saturated with oil to the point where if you squeezed it a bit, the oil dripped off of the fries. The salad was delicious, and the cookies were AMAZING! We have not tried the pineapple mixer yet, but I bet it is incredible. I get that these things happen, but there should have been better quality control before sending this food out. I could tell upon opening the box that something wasn't right by the greasy sheen on the fries and the bloated appearance. The bun bottom being so saturated with fryer oil that it was falling apart and dripping grease while we ate them. We had to stop eating the fries because they were far too full of grease, sadly. 5 hours later and our bellies hurt and my partner feels nauseous from all the grease. Such a bummer! read more

Wil with the central Oregon/Bend branch of White Pepper was a dream to work with. I'm a type A person so I was often emailing Wil about very small details and questions in the roughly 12 months from the time we booked them to our big Wedding day. During that time he was quick to respond, and never made me feel like I was being "too much." We live in Portland but had our wedding at House on Metolius in Camp Sherman so we did our tasting at the Portland tasting room. At the tasting they made us feel so welcome and comfortable. I was a bit worried that while the food was incredible at the tasting it wouldn't live up to that quality when cooked for a large group, but wow I was wrong. Everyone LOVED the food and it was definitely a talking point of the event. Wil's staff and bartenders were also incredible, pleasant to interact with, and professional. Many of which would have been perfectly fine options, but with White Pepper it was immediately clear they were a step above. One feature that drew us in right away was their ability to cook on-site. White Pepper's mobile kitchen and grill really allowed their food to be enjoyed as intended. We met with Susanna to discuss our plans for our special day and to sample their culinary skills. We had a small wedding and opted not to go with a wedding planner, and ended up being beyond grateful to have Susanna. She was always available for whatever questions and menu alterations we wanted to make in the months leading up to the wedding, and was instrumental in helping us figure out the table layout and general flow of the day for our venue. White Pepper's use of local ingredients gave a rustic flair to our winter wedding. It was beautifully presented, accented with edible flowers that created bright contrasts of color. White Pepper captured our vision of a bountiful charcuterie display that served as much as a decoration as a delightful hors d'oeuvres. White Pepper recently catered our small, outdoor wedding, and we were very happy that we went with them. We chose White Pepper after a fantastic tasting at their Portland kitchen and event space. We initially worked with Greg, who helped put together our menu and got the ball rolling on planning what we would need for our event. After COVID-related delays, we started working with Becca, who was also very helpful and responsive for the duration, and stayed on-site for most of our event to ensure things ran smoothly. It was great to have a full-service caterer. White Pepper worked with Party Place rentals to ensure we had all the linens, tableware, glassware etc. that we needed. Even as our plans kept shifting and our guest list continued to change based on COVID developments, White Pepper was on top of it and worked with Party Place to make sure we had the right amount of everything. And White Pepper didn't bat an eye as our event size dropped significantly and we switched from family-style service to plated service shortly before the event. We were really grateful that they were so willing to accommodate the difficult, last-minute changes we needed to make to have a safe celebration. The service was absolutely stellar. The event staff was incredibly professional and on top of everything. They were friendly and helpful, and they served food and cleared tables discretely and quickly. We were extremely happy and impressed with the service from everyone involved. We were also happy with the food, especially the cedar-smoked salmon and potatoes. All very tasty! And White Pepper served the pie we brought in from an outside bakery (Lauretta Jeans in Portland) with no issues, even though pie seems significantly harder to serve to a crowd than cake. Before going, we were both excited, but we had NO idea how delicious and special the food would be. First, neither of us drink, so they had prepared 3 delicious mocktails for us. I swear, I still wake up thinking about those delicious drinks. But then...the FOOD. The meal in the Chef's sweet kitchen was one of the better meals we have ever eaten. The food is beautiful. The use of edible flowers and local, fresh ingredients create a palette that looks like art. With every dish, we were dying over how pretty they looked, and then we would take a bite and die! SO good. We joked that my fiancé could not get enough of the vegetables...and he hates vegetables. Their salmon is, without a doubt, the best salmon I have ever tasted. What was different about this tasting was that the chef was cooking us the dishes in his own home. I thought it was nice to chat with the chef as he prepared our dishes. My wife and I were sold that night. The food on the night of the wedding was just as delicious as the tasting. Everything came out on time and no one had to wait for their food. I used White Pepper To Go for a fundraising event last week. Overall, I was very pleased with everything! For the To Go service, you simply pick the items you want and then they are delivered to your event, so I did not have the opportunity to taste anything prior to ordering. I was very pleased with everything except the vegetarian lasagne. It was very dry and lacked flavor, so I might just skip that item if you use this service. However, the charcuterie and crudite platters were excellent, along with the pretzel bites and pulled pork sandwiches! Their staff was great to work with. Within a few minutes of placing my order, I received an email from Will thanking me for my order and confirming everything.
