I continue to be a fan of Tan's Happy Kitchen! The staff is always friendly and helpful. The truck and area is clean with no concerns. I called in my order which was ready when I arrived. We had ordered the orange chicken and general tao previously and as good as it had been. The shrimp fried rice was big and had quite a few shrimp. Good veggies and flavor. We held low to no expectations about the experience going into it, but were quickly slapped across our dang faces when the food arrived. What a good find! We stopped by Bubble Bar to get some boba drinks, and the owner of Tan's Happy Kitchen approached us to offer us a menu. The items were tempting enough for us to give it a try, and we're happy that we did! There are nine crab puffs in an order, the most I've ever seen in an order anywhere, and they are quite good. The potstickers were probably the tastiest we've ever had, and the egg rolls were very tasty and fresh! The owners are extraordinarily nice, and gave use the egg rolls on the house as a bonus gift with our order. The General Tso's chicken was nice and crispy, and very tasty. The chicken fried rice was good, but not great. Nice bonuses were the good quantities and varieties of sauces, plenty of napkins, and the very high quality to-go containers. The owner also frequently checked in on us as we dined, and offered other sauces to accompany our meals. We'll definitely be back! read more

I've found it pretty hard to find good Chinese food. My search is done! This is by FAR the best I have ever had. You can taste the fresh ingredients in the food. I got the veggie lo me in and veggie friend rice while my husband got the orange chicken combo with kung pao chicken and we both still have enough for another meal! Great portions. Stopped by to pick up dinner and was blown away at the portions and the flavor of the dishes. Pot stickers were slightly crispy and flavorful. Lazy Sunday and in the mood for Chinese I quickly looked at what my options were gong to be on Postmates. Usually when I'm looking at new places I'll check out their yelp pictures to see if the food looks good. We decided to go with this place since it looked good and they offered combination style food it was an easy pick. I went with Generals Chicken and Lemon Chick with rice and the wife had Lo Mein and Green Been Chicken with rice. So the food arrived and I thought "why's this bag so heavy???". The portions they give you is huge but man it was pretty good. Sometimes I've found that with chicken dishes they sometimes come out over fried but I couldn't find that in my order. This place has easily became my new favorite Chinese place to order from. read more

I've been to this place a bunch of times now, and waited for a while to write this review because I wanted them to earn their five stars. You can go to a food cart once and have a great experience, but go back again and again and you start to see what they're really about. The couple who run this cart are so nice. The woman always greets me with a big smile and knows instantly who I am, even after just my second visit. I'm a bit picky when it comes to certain ingredients and she remembers exactly how I like my food every time. The dishes are reasonably priced and you get plenty of food. Each time she hands me my to go bag, I am always surprised by the sheer weight of the food. One dish can easily feed two people, but try some variety, because I've yet to get a bad dish. The food is fresh, tasty, well cooked and always filling. As I mentioned, I've been here a bunch of times and they have yet to make a single mistake on any order, and they are always open as advertised, which in Portland can be a challenge when visiting food carts. Portions are generous and the food is super tasty. It's very fresh and well prepared, probably the best quality American-style Chinese I've had in Portland. My only critique is that I wish the menu was a little bit less limited; my favorite staples (Walnut Shrimp and BBQ Spare Ribs) are not available here. It's a bummer because I think they'd absolutely murder those dishes (in a good way). However, I do so totally understand that limiting the menu helps with quality, so... Once I finally got my food, they did give me a free drink for the wait, so at least they tried to make up for it. We came here because it's conveniently located close to our home. We usually go to the nearby chain restaurant for take- out Chinese, but today we decided to try Tan's. What a pleasant surprise it was! The 2 combination dinners for $10 each that we ordered gave generous portions of 2 entrees, as well as steamed rice. The chicken was tender, & there was an abundance of fresh, tasty vegetables. We also ordered potstickers, which were some of the BEST we've had in a long time- perfect texture of outer dough shell, & a balance of fresh flavors inside. The wait time after ordering our meals was a bit long, so next time we'll call our order ahead & then drive over to pick it up. But the quality of the food makes it well worth the wait, & better than being stuck in long lines at the nearby chain restaurant! read more

Finally decided to eat here after being offered a sample while grabbing a bubble tea at a neighboring food cart a few weeks ago. I had the sweet and sour chicken and it was top notch. Just the right amount of breading, nice white meat chicken, and the sauce was SO good!! The goofed up my order (forgot the sauce) but when I came back they not only made it right but gave my some free spring rolls, which were also delicious.
