Their attention to detail and professionalism made the day feel like a breeze, even after a last minute move inside due to rain. The food was absolute perfection- family style was the way to go with our 115 person wedding. I highly recommend all the food we had at our wedding, but my stand out was the cedar plank grilled salmon (all grilled on site!). We started with a peach and arugula salad, followed by grilled salmon and grilled chicken with a tangy, white BBQ sauce, and had sides of herbed potatoes and mini corn on the cobs. I used White Pepper for my second time, this time using the drop-off lunch catering for a workshop we hosted in Portland. They were prompt and efficient, and when I realized I needed all of the sandwiches cut in half, they jumped in and did it for me on the spot to better suit our needs. The food was as delicious as it was last time - we went with the portobello mushroom sandwich, ham & brie sandwich, charcuterie, and two salads... all divine. Working with Wil leading up to the event is also super easy - he is extremely quick to respond and didn't get annoyed with my million little questions! White Pepper catered my wedding last month. We were looking for family-style dining, and our vision for food was to bring our guests a taste of the Pacific Northwest, which they were perfect for. We had so many questions since we had never planned anything like this before. And during the planning process along the way, our coordinator, Amy was very responsive and helpful. The food was delicious - friends and family made comments on both the dinner and cocktail hour apps. I was concerned about serving chicken at a wedding (because I've had bad/dry wedding chicken) but White Pepper's was juicy and delicious. The reason I'm giving them only 4 stars was that the vegetarians never received their special entrees that we had discussed with White Pepper beforehand. Given that 12% of our guests were vegetarian, and we had told these guests beforehand not to worry and that they'd have a special option for their dietary restriction, this was embarrassing for us and something that bothered me for a couple days after our wedding. When I let White Pepper know that I was disappointed about this, they didn't apologize or acknowledge their error and instead said "thanks for the feedback". Anyway, the damage was done and I apologized to each and every one of our vegetarian guests personally. I love White Pepper! I was recently at an event at my church that Wil and his team catered. Wow! Everything was amazing. I'd never had the privilege of having Spanish Paella before and it was great. The presentation was impressive, served in (of course) the huge paella pans along with salad and more. All the ingredients were local, fresh and delicious. My only regret is that I should've got in line sooner, because good food goes quick. I hope to have the privilege of enjoying another one of their meals soon though and expect that I will. The food was mediocre. When we did not bring our own serving urns for lemonade and water, I arranged to get one from home; the other liquid could be served in pitchers we had available. Instead the caterer offered to make the 4 mile trip back to their office to get theirs. This resulted in a 55 dollar charge, for two beat-up looking urns. Given that we were already spending hundreds of dollars, this seemed petty. read more

WHITE PEPPER IS THE BEST! When we pictured our September wedding @ Gorge Crest Vineyard, we actually just pictured an intimate and cozy (140 guests) dinner party. It was the center of our focus. We are your typical Portland foodies who LOVE and regularly seek excellent food experiences through taste, service, presentation, and atmosphere. White Pepper executed flawlessly in all areas. My mother-in-law is a food scientist extraordinaire and says with scientific precision that the thyme potatoes were the best she's ever tasted. Countless wedding guests told us it was the best meal (not just for a wedding) that they've had (main dishes were: smoked salmon and grilled bavette steak). The process- what we needed most in our wedding planning process was someone with confidence and expertise to help us navigate the unknown and to ask the questions we didn't know to ask. Alyssa provided that support above and beyond. In her confident and incredibly organized manner, she was able to navigate us through design and flow, and collaborated seamlessly with our other vendors to ensure alignment. She also happily coordinated with our family members to create specific cultural aspects around dinner & dessert time. Her very positive reputation in the vendor community was a huge asset as everyone knew they could count on her. From the day we had our unique and cozy tasting at the owners home - to our wedding day, we felt that White Pepper truly wanted to get to know us and tailor the experience to our vision of the perfect day. Then came Becca and Will, who seemed to understand exactly what we were looking for (and what our budget was). As their kitchen was under construction at the time, Will invited us into his home to sample their dishes... and they had us at charcuterie. Not only is the presentation amazing, but the flavor is too! The sides and entrees were just as outstanding (seriously, try the potatoes). Becca was attentive and helpful every step of the way. Sincerest thanks to Wil and the team at White Pepper for cooking some truly delicious food for our wedding! It was really important to me and my partner that we have some Indian food on the menu and that everything served was 100% vegetarian; White Pepper more than delivered. Wil created an amazing menu for us that seamlessly integrated our favorite apps (deviled eggs, samosas with mint chutney) with our favorite Indian entrees (paneer tikka masala and aloo gobi). We had a lovely tasting (my favorite part of planning the wedding) and the food was spot on. There was one element I'd hope to change - and I'll admit I was a bit anxious giving feedback to the chef - but Wil was very gracious and actually solicited our thoughts by starting with something that he wanted to tweak with the samosas. That definitely put me at ease and and he totally responded to our comments - putting it into action night of. Then the wedding: The food wasn't just tasty (and piping hot!) - it was actually really inviting to our guests - many of which had never tried Indian before. I actually saw an uncle of mine who is one of those 'eat to live' types and he was joking with some friends about licking his plate clean! We can't say enough great things about Wil, Amy and the team at White Pepper that made our day so incredibly perfect! They were professional, accommodating and went above and beyond. Before we landed on White Pepper, Wil invited us to his home for a private menu tasting and by the end we were so blown away with the flavors and presentation that we cancelled our other tasting appointments and booked them then and there. Amy was responsive, flexible and super friendly - even though we were very picky (especially with our 4 craft cocktail recipes) and asked a million questions. They brought their chef on-site to cook everything fresh. The presentation was outstanding: custom chalkboard signs with art that tied into our theme, mix-n-match rustic serving bowls and plates. All of our guests loved the charcuterie and drinks during cocktail hour, they raved about the salmon, brisket and polenta and the late night chicken and waffle skewers were a huge hit! At the end of our event, they had carefully packaged our leftovers and sent us home with delicious reminders of our wedding that kept us full for the next few days. For making food that was stunning to look at and was so good I was never more than 10 feet from the food table at a friend's engagement party. I got quotes from a few other caterers in town and they were one of the most reasonably priced and I felt like we got more for our money. And THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! I was very nervous at first; due to planning from out-of-state and our untraditional cocktail party wedding format, we weren't able to do a tasting before the wedding. But Wil smoothed over my fears by putting me in contact with a co-vendor as well as a previous client in order to provide a more in-depth review. Super helpful and swayed me towards White Pepper! Wil was wonderful and flexible, answering all of my crazy questions and worries before the big day. And the food? I think it's safe to say it was the best food I've ever had at a wedding and I'm SO GLAD I was able to taste it! My aunt won't stop talking about the pate, and they arrange it so beautifully. There was more than enough food (we even had leftovers) and I loved the varied nature of the foods we chose. We did have a point of missed communication, but it happens when you're planning everything via email, and it ultimately didn't affect anything on the day of.
