I rarely review about service alone but this demonstration of top shelf service is rare so I met my criteria on this one...so my lovely wife and I r out and about and we get the suppertime growlies and just happen to cross paths with a White Spot drive in...so we naturally opt for the fun drive in dine out shenannigans. What is happening,we both think, is something wrong with our food?¿......Deni, our Car Hop is simply asking us how r meal is and we both were totally taken aback but this foreign but pleasant turn of events.We've visited many,many white spots over 20 odd years but we have never had a car hop ever check up on ur meal whilst dinning at any drive at any time. Stopped in for a very quick breakfast with a girlfriend and her two year old. This was a weekday breakfast and the restaurant was quite busy. I had the sunny start breakfast, because I wanted something small. Wow were the smashed potato hash browns amazing!!!!!!!! Our server was friendly and fast, as well as accommodating to our time pressure. Bathrooms are small but clean. Portion size was about average for the cost. I go to school in Bellingham, WA and have made frequent trips up to Richmond and Vancouver, but I have never heard of this place until my brother told me about it. I order the money mushroom bigger burger with fires and it was amazing! My brother also told me to try a milkshake. I was a little shocked that they only had 3 flavors (chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry), but OMG they were amazing. I had the chocolate milkshake and my brother had the strawberry milkshake and they were so rich, thick, creamy, everything you would want in a milkshake. I've never been to a White Spot before, so when a friend suggested it, I cautiously agreed. People we all excited about the burgers and shakes, and I love burgers, so... how could I go wrong? We got there at 9, and a server came by with menus and then came back for our drinks order. Seeing how we were already hungry, we were ready to order! But the drinks server isn't our main server. So she said she'd be back with our drinks and grab our server. Repeat this whole scenario again. By the time we put our order in, a half hour had rolled by and we were seriously starving. But the orders were in and were eagerly awaited our food. For another half an hour. Honestly, I think we ate our food faster than we waited in that restaurant. The food, by the way, is good. It's not the most amazing burger I've had, but the burger and shake deal for $12 is pretty decent. I still think Red Robin bugers stack up much better. By the time we were done eating and finally got the server to get us our bills, it was just passing 1030pm. We then sat around for another twenty minutes waiting for her to return so we could tell her we were paying by credit card. I totally wish I had cash so I could've just put it down and left. If I could give this place 0 stars I would , management is terrible here , came here around 930pm food came at 10pm , not a waitress in sight , the one waitress I saw was talking to a table which I assume are her friends because she stood there for 10-15 mins chatting away with them , Food comes late , fries are cold, burgers are like warm not even hot , other dish ordered onion rings they came soggy. The manager Tanjay was very rude , I told him about all these issues, he didn't even address the issue right away or apologize , he is a very inexperienced manager , gave attitude , instead of dealing with the issue he questioned it instead , said that standard time is 15mins for food to come that's not very long , I said that it was a very long time waiting I said it seemed like 15-20 but really it was around 25mins for the food,very defensive had no clue to deal with a complaint instead decided not even to deal with it , after gets defensive and even has the nerve to raise his voice and say what do u want then!? We basically stood up and left because of his attitude and we lost our appetite. Never coming back here again , I will also let all my family and friends of this incident so they will never come here. They need to fix the service at this white spot ASAP or it's going to lose more business. I come here for lunch all the time and it's never been this bad. Bad experience. Took my grand daughter for a pirate pack. I decided to have their new rib bundle. Not a good idea. It came with a Caesar salad, however the salad had so little dressing on it that I asked if they had run out of dressing in the kitchen. Then the ribs came and things got worse.The ribs were so dry maybe they should have been called dry ribs with dipping sauce. Our waitress only came around once, when everyone was pretty much finished eating and by then I'd had enough. Get me out of this joint! I haven't been to white spot in over a year and my wife and I decided to go with some friends yesterday, now I remember why. Our server took a very long time to come place our order, but to be honest it did seem kind of busy, fine, i'll give her that. I order the mediterranean burger and I have to say, it sounded better then it tasted. It was way too salty and the chicken was a bit on the burnt side. I pondered about talking to management but knew it would get me nowhere. I ordered fries with my burger which was suppose to be bottomless, but our server never bothered to come ask if I wanted more, heck didn't even refill our waters. White Spot has been a food staple since I was a kid but in their mission to go a little upmarket, certain things have gotten lost.. The last two times, the once famous BC burger was missing something in the flavour. It is no longer "fun" eating at White Spot which kind of makes me sad too. It is also quite expensive. Just don't know but we don't eat there as often as we used to because the food has gone downhill and service has been quite horrendous at times at least at this old location. White Spot isn't exactly an upscale, fine dining restaurant but god dammit I love this place. Perhaps it's the nostalgic value, as this is the only place we used to "eat out" at as a kid. My brother and I would get so excited when Dad decided he would rather have White Spot make us our dinner than do it himself. This location is pretty good, went here last week for a burger. I always get the Monty Mushroom burger and this time it was delicious as always. Sweet potato fries and coleslaw were awesome as well. My friend got the Double Double burger. Afterwards we ended up sharing the sampler desert. It came with a piece of cheesecake, some kind of chocolate cake, and some kind of apple something or other. I was only really interested in the cheesecake but it was all good. After we were done and paid the bill, we sat at our booth for about 45 minutes talking. Our waiter checked on us a few times to see if we were done, but he wasn't obvious or pushy about it, which I liked. First off, this review isn't really about the food- it's White Spot. They have a good solid menu that feels like better value than Cactus Club or Browns without breaking the bank. They won't blow you away with fancy settings and the sports bar options suuuuuuuck. BUT, this location has a great staff. I once had a problem here with a promotion and stopped coming for a couple years. But when the pandemic hit, I came back for a couple reasons. It was a great alternative to Starbucks, was quiet in between lunch and dinner rushes and has the best Keto friendly Lettuce Wrap burger in the entire province. The staff and I have developed a first name relationship and I come 3 times a week for lunch. I appreciate the atmosphere and the friendly attentive staff that no doubt comes with being a unionized restaurant. They need more servers, after seating we waited 15 minutes to have anyone come offer us coffee (the hostess as our waitress couldn't do it) and our server to finally take an order. The breakfast I had was only OK, I order my eggs poached medium and they came out poached well, solid chalky yolk. Hashbrowns and toast were great! But the sausages leave something to be desired. I frequent the byrne location which definitely supasses this location. It was a friday morning, not a loaded weekend. I know that White Spot isn't necessarily the "coolest" place to write a review for (I mean, this was a pretty standard spot to go to with the family when I was younger), but when you've got a hankering for a good burger it's a hard place to beat. Every once in a while, the thought of zoo sticks will pop into my head, and it just won't go away my urge has been satisfied. Tonight was such a night, and the food didn't disappoint. The burger platters are incredibly filling; I ate only half of mine, and I still feel like my stomach is going to explode. Good thing though: I have leftovers for tomorrow. Huzzah! When i think of White Spot I usually associate it with super slow kitchens. I went there on a Saturday by my lonely self and found at I didn't have to wait for a table. Menu was simple, price was a little high for breakfast but I guess it's a chain restaurant. Service was quck, I had my coffee within 2 minutes, ordered within 2 minutes of sitting down. In terms of my food, you can't really frack up on breakfast but my eggs didn't look like there were two eggs. Unless the eggs they used were from the human equivalent of little people chickens. I love this location because it is in my hood. and the food is always to expectation. I really enjoy coming here with my dad, Wes L., for brunch on Saturdays. White Spot has been a tradition in our family for a long time, and it is nice to carry it on with some father-daughter time :). Anyhow, I find that the food is always done right. Even though White Spot is a chain, there are still differemce between locations. The only drawback to this location is one strange waittress. I am not sure if she realizes how unfriendly she is. She is great at trying to upsell by offereing beverage choices, asking for dessert, etc.; however, when you deny her, she gets this really nasty scowl on her face. Yikes! we're visiting canada and it appears that white spot is like an adult version of denny's. was it amazing? naaah, but does it work in a pinch? yah. family had fettucini alfredo with chicken and broccoli. chicken was dry and flavorless. me and cousin shared mushroom burger which was decent for late night fare. fries OK, but what was cool and something we werent used to was offered with vinegar. yes, that is what they hand you. ketchup and vinegar. gravy too they have...damn good gravy that made the lackluster fries taste great. mom had clam chowder - tomato based which didn't exactly have a lot of clams, but it was fine. this place gets three stars though because it is clean and the waitress was extremely friendly. read more

When I lived on the island, I would pick up a burger occasionally on board the ship, but other than that, I can't remember the last time I entered a restaurant. I've forgotten how GOOD and satisfying their burgers are! I went for their Pirate Pak day reliving the good 'ol memories of being a kid. We were are large group (15+!) on a busy night. They were great in getting us seated and settled. Given the busy night, and our massive table, service was a little slow, but in general, our server, Stephanie, was amazing. She handled our orders like it was nothing, balancing trays loaded with drinks, pirate paks and ice cream. Nothing seemed too complicated and it was quite the engineering feat to manage it all. She was always checking in to make sure we got our right orders and that nothing was missing. If something as missing, she quickly fixed it. Two big thumbs up for our server. Food was typical of White Spot. I opted for the legendary burger with friends which came with coleslaw, a drink, ice cream and of course, the golden chocolate coin. A pirate pak is not a pirate pak without that chocolate coin. I had forgotten what an amazing concoction the sauce that goes into the legendary burger is. Juice and sauce dripping everywhere. I was a happy camper for sure. The fries were average, but I have never liked their fries in the first place (their sweet potato ones are good though!). The ice cream was rich and delicious as well. Great healthy, Low Calorie Breakfast! I ordered the Mushroom, Spinach Red Pepper Frittata. At 270 calories, it was really tasty! In fact, I kept saying,"This is really good," in case anyone was listening. I appreciated the calorie section of the menu, since in January, most of us have a 'food hangover' after the holidays. The service was friendly (waiter with the scar, thanks). The food was great, including my companion's Eggs Benedict. He said you could really taste the butter in the sauce. And White Spot doesn't go overboard on the portion size. I hate being faced with an overflowing plate. I think this is the best White Spot location in Greater Vancouver. I had not been in Vancouver nor Burnaby in some years now and I always remember having family dinner at White Spot. I used to get the burgers and fries with a milk shake and they never came short on delivering a big taste. I am surprised (in a good way) to see the new selection that this White Spot has to offer with its Asian Influenced Menu items such a Teriaky Chicken Rice Bowls and what they called Asian Salads. This new additional to the menu is fantastic and at the price to portion ratio beats most authentic asian cuisine prices. The taste is bold and the food is filling. I will be back again in search of discovering more of your menu. The service was fast and friendly as usual and parking was easily accommodated. So disappointed, ordered ahead yesterday for the advertised turkey dinners for pick up today. Instead of the 4 slices of turkey meat, roasted squash, brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes, got sauteed diced zucchini and cherry tomatoes, as if they ran out of roasted vegetables and decided to stir fry their zucchini from their zucchini sticks with tomatoes from their salads. The turkey was really thinly sliced meat more like what one would get from a deli. Cranberry sauce missing. Not having good experiences with the Marine and Ross restaurant. The food here is good, but the service needs work. I came here for lunch with a friend around 2pm. I know the servers saw us as my eyes were in direct contact with theirs, I'm just wondering why it took over 10 minutes to get us seated especially since it was kinda slow. The wait time at the service wasn't much better either. However, the upside of this place is the food. I ordered their Brunch burger, beef patty, lettuce, tomato, onion ring, fried egg and sauce. Wow! What a brunch burger it was, tasted like breakfast and lunch made love and had a baby. That burger would be the child of that love making. The fries could have been better though, but anyways I'm glad that I ordered extra fries for us when we made the order as we didn't have to wait for more. My family, my partner and I visited this Whitespot branch quite a few times at around brunch time 11-1pm(ish). The wait time is not bad, but it is usually busy when we get there and we are often ushered to the tables in a separate room at the back with bigger windows (yay). At the back, it almost seems like an added hallway with room for a couple of tables, so maybe the tables are for when the service gets extremely busy? Not sure. Regardless, I actually prefer it at the back because it is much more quieter. Anyway, food wise, it is decent - comfort meals and no big surprises to the menu. For myself, I usually always order their shrimp sandwich because they pack the sandwich full of shrimp, yay. The shrimp is also fresh and has a lot of flavour - I haven't come across a "fishy" smell or taste, which can sometimes happen when you order a sandwich with seafood. The brunch menu is typical for casual dining standards; their portions are great if you are super hungry! My partner ordered "Nat's Hearty Breakfast" and still had a few hashbrowns he couldn't finish because he was too full. :) Also note: They're usually good about catering to dietary restrictions, but I find you have to really over-emphasize specific details such as "dry toast" if you don't want any butter or mayo on your bread because it will come heavily buttered and it will take forever for them to replace your meal. read more
