I said this shop is a little one - more specifically, the interior is small. They have a good number of outdoor seating options, which were not in use at 3:00 on a cool November afternoon. But over the summer, this would absolutely be a great spot to sit down, sip your drink, and either prep for a hike or recover after one. The staff were very nice and welcoming when I stopped in a couple of weekends ago. I ordered a lavender latte and got a couple of cute stickers for good measure. I didn't get any food or snacks, but I did note that there are some nice options here that I'd like to sample in the future! The latte itself was delicious, with the right mix of coffee, milk, and flavoring for me. I then enjoyed my coffee while strolling on one of the easier trails - it was so relaxing and was the perfect way to end my weekend. (Don't worry: my trash made it back to my car and didn't become litter in our beautiful state park!) I would absolutely come here again, and love knowing that there's a cute coffee shop to help kick off or wrap up a nice afternoon on the trails.

I asked a couple questions about the menu and was immediately directed to the BLT by a woman in the kitchen. Wow I wasn't disappointed. It was sooooo good. The bread was toasted perfectly (so it didn't kill the roof of my mouth), the tomato's and lettuce were fresh, the bacon crispy, and that basil mayo. A life changing BLT if there is such a thing. A couple side notes I appreciate. Bittersweet's marketing team deserves. Ton of credit - they have some awesome swag available for purchase. Also, this is a Christian oriented cafe with bible verses, messaging, and music. Love it! And finally, check out the story about Bittersweet's roots, its commitment to addiction recovery/support, and the owner's son's story/passing. The name "Bittersweet Cafe" will take on a deeper meaning (the news articles can be found in the walls before the counter by the bathrooms). Cheers Bittersweet, thanks for having me, and God bless!

Nice landscaping provides a near perfect setting to enjoy a cup of coffee. I ended up getting a simple red eye. It was delicious. I understand they brew Iron Star coffee out of West Mifflin. The same Iron Star that owns Coffee Tree shops. If this coffee is any indication, I think I need to visit Coffee Tree again. It's been a while. Anyway, I had a really good cup of coffee and a peanut butter and jelly cookie. No complaints on the cookie, but I wish they had some breakfast sweets like scones or cinnamon rolls. Next time I'll try some real food. Just be aware that things are a little pricey here.

Everyone was so friendly that you just had to smile; our waitress Lori was particularly nice and efficient. The food at Maywood Grill was superb and done to perfection. Their fried chicken sandwich surpassed all chicken contenders and their onion rings were sublime. However, it was their pizza that was the star of the show, as it has been a long time that a pie checked all the boxes. First, the crust was just the right mix of crunch and chewy goodness that thought I had stepped into New Haven, CT. Next, the cheese was real, not that plastic rubbish you find masquerading as cheese from so main big chains. Each slice was perfect example of how pizza should be done. Without a doubt, I will most definitely return a slice of Maywood Grill's perfect pizza pie.

I still love the decor and the photos around the place. Ramps and eggs were amazing. I guess it's ramp season (very strong onion) and i couldn't pass it up. Before going, I had read a few isolated reviews mentioning poor service and food quality. Since our experience was the complete opposite, I think it's only fair to share it as some balance. We had made a dinner reservation for the patio overlooking the river. It was a beautiful, sunny (and HOT) day. When we arrived, the hostess let us choose our table. I picked a sunny spot, but our server, Amy, came over and suggested we move just one table back because the shade would reach us much sooner, and we would still have a great view of the river. She was right, and after a long day on our bikes, we really appreciated her thoughtfulness. And that was just the beginning. Amy immediately brought us water and took our drink order. I was craving a spicy margarita, which wasn't on the menu. She graciously told me that if they had jalapeños in the kitchen, she would make me a great one. A little while later, Amy appeared with my margarita in hand and apologized for the delay. Then she explained why it had taken a little longer: they didn't have any jalapeños in the kitchen, so a staff member had actually run to their nearby home to grab a fresh pepper FROM THEIR GARDEN for my drink! Seriously. Who does that?! And yes, it was one of the best spicy margaritas I've ever had. Dinner was just as impressive. I really wanted a Caesar salad with steak, which also wasn't a menu option. When I asked Amy about it, she immediately said she thought they could make it happen. And they did. The steak was cooked perfectly, the salad was well made, and it had exactly the right amount of dressing. After three days of biking the GAP, sitting beside the river with a delicious meal, refreshing drinks and that beautiful view was exactly what we needed. Huge props to Amy and the entire staff at River's Edge Cafe. From accommodating our off-menu requests to literally finding a fresh-from-the-garden jalapeño for my margarita, the service went far beyond what we expected. Our experience was absolutely wonderful, and River's Edge will definitely be on our list the next time we're in Confluence!
