Yikes, this places has A LOT of hate! Yelp fam, y'all are cold blooded! I came here about two weeks ago (the day before I went to the concert at Dickie's Arena). Getting to this venue isn't difficult but what is difficult is getting IN to the venue. Specifically, I had VIP parking but I still had to wait in a single lane to get into the parking lot for more more than 30 minutes. I literally missed the beginning of the show I was supposed to see because I was sitting in my car waiting for the police to direct the one lane of traffic to the general parking lot vs the venue parking lot. Once inside the venue, concert/event goers will see different lines for VIP check-in vs. regular check-in. As I was late to this concert and was VIP, I didn't necessarily have the same problems as the Yelpers who mentioned overly long waits to get in. Once I was in the venue, I went directly to the VIP suites that are located upstairs. The suite I was in had a bar right next to it, therefore when I requested food or drinks, the waitstafff came quickly as they were within earshot. Unlike others who mentioned long waits for service, I think it largely depends upon what tye of admission you are have (general, standing room vs. suite, vs. lower level seating). This is the first outdoor venue I've been to in Central Texas that has suites. It should also be noted that those who have suits also have thier own VIP bathrooms (not porta-potties). Therefore, my opinion of the seating, bathrooms and view of the event is probably slanted because of the type of access I had. *Here's a tip, if you have a membership to the golf course next door, you can sit and listen to the music for free* Once outside the suite, the general merchandise area and event merchandise area was fairly lackluster. Aside from the stereotypical astronomical prices, this section and selections was generally unimpressive. There appeared to be several food options from Texas Barbecue to Nachos with minimal wait for food offerings. The sound of the event was good but not great. This isn't a deal breaker for me as some of the performers had trouble with their equipment. Also for this event, I went to see Blues Travler and John had COVID so this wasn't the best showing for the group. There was another lead singer reading lyrics from a sheet and as everyone knows that no one can be John other than John Popper. I left this concert early as I wanted to avoid the same issue I had getting into the venue with the traffic. I am not sure based upon this showing that I would return to an event here. read more

I very much enjoyed visiting the WhiteWater Amphitheater for a recent event with ZZ Top and Willie Nelson. We took the back way into town from Austin which turned out to be a very scenic drive along the ridge tops and also looking down into nearby Canyon Lake. Before we arrived, I was concerned about the arrangements of the performance venue as I had a general admission ticket, which is essentially standing room only. The staff at the facility did a great job of marshaling incoming automobile traffic into the parking areas, and managing the lines. We got through the ID and security checks quickly. There are also plenty of food and drink service points so you don't have to wait long for a beer or chow. While it got a little tiring to stand for the two acts, we were able to easily pick out a great spot to view the stage and did not have any issues seeing or hearing the performance. I would come back here to see other acts in the future. Recommended. read more

Love the outdoor music venue and beautiful location! Terrible parking, A huge section on seating is almost totally blocked from viewing the stage and artist on the stage! Handicap parking is nonexistent and ridicules for concert goers and I bet any handicap workers or employees. Getting around in a wheelchair, crutches is almost impossible, gravel, mud, no ramps or easy assessable sidewalks from seating to handicap port a potty restroom, had to travel an outrageous distance a to get around the entire back bar area without a sidewalk then wait in line with drunks using the handicap restrooms. Not handicap friendly at all! inside the venue needs to be cleaned up, wipe down rails and chairs, sweep and blow dirt and leaves, just looked dirty and not clean, in need of TLC. Chairs in handicap areas were dusty and dirty, also overcrowded in handicap areas. Concert, majority of staff, security, workers were wonderful. Just needs attention to detail and upgrades. Handicap did not seem in code or handicap friendly. The venue has so much surrounding beauty and potential, put a little money into making it better. read more

F this place. I went, in the space of 30 minutes, from "we should really sponsor this place" to "F this place, I will never come back". We saw a great show, but by the time we dealt with security, who was straight up hoping for a fight, and trying to exit the venue parking, the overall experience was completely ruined. The staff will percent lie to you to sell stuff drinks to you. Then security will absolutely make liars out of f the rest of the staff. In the end, I understand that different portions of the staff will get different instructions , but that should be reconciled WITHOUT screwing the customer. The reality is, to sum it up, that the venue has no concern for the customer. I have gone, in 30 minutes, from both "we should sponsors or and have a banner up" and "I should buy a box seat for friends on the next good show" to f this place. We really loved going to a concert at this venue. The Texas Hill Country is beautiful and charming and WhiteWater Amphitheater just adds to that. We went and saw Granger Smith and he rocked the house as always! Seating for this event was set up with tables due to Covid but when the concert actually happened they were allowed to let everyone come to the stage and enjoy the concert the normal way! Awesome! The guests at the tables were able to enjoy their table for most of the concert but near the end everyone was allowed at the front. The staff was great and bartenders took care of everyone very well. Portpots were the bathrooms, which i guess since it is an outdoor venue makes sense. (although I am never ok with a portopot lol) Parking was done efficiently and we weren't waiting for hours afterwards to get out which we were all surprised about. Lots of law enforcement around so don't drink an drive, or be a jerk! read more

I go to this venue often and always buy left wing seats. Turnpike is my favorite band and I was very excited to learn they were coming to WhiteWater. I bought left wing seat G1 and G2 for $337.08. We got to our seats and could not see the stage. Seat 1 is next to the railing, which is higher than the seat, so you have to look through the bars in order to see anything. The issue with row G, is that the roof of the bar next to the stage hangs over, blocking more of the view. We literally could not see the stage. Before the concert started, we went to the staff and talked to AJ. After explaining the situation and expressing that we would be willing to sit in any other seat, or be willing to go to the next nights show, his response was "you can come tomorrow, but you have to buy more tickets". He acknowledged that we "got screwed" (his words), but because we used the tickets to get in, there was nothing he could do. We explained we had to get in to sit in the seats and realize we could not see, but it seemed as if he was trained to shut people down. We talked to his manager, who said neither she or her boss could "comp" wing tickets. We stood for one song, but decided to just leave the show, as this was not the experience we paid for. They obviously have zero concern for customer satisfaction and only care about getting their money. read more

This place is awesome!!! Capacity of about 6000 people so you're sure to get a good view of the stage. Over the years I've seen a lot of amazing acts here including Willie Nelson..... I think he loves this place because he plays here almost every year. It's pretty easy to grab a drink since they have a giant standing general admission area. I would try to get there a little bit early because sometimes there's a line and to check in to get in is really slow. read more

We had an absolute blast here! We saw Willie Nelson and it was nothing but good vibes all night. The drive over is beautiful. We got there only about 30 minutes before the concert started and parked in a nearby lot. The place has such a great ambience and I was especially surprised by how good the food was! It is not your typical concession food - it is actually a really great menu with great quality ingredients and friendly staff! I wish my pictures did it justice, but there were huge portions. 1000/10 and will be back soon for another concert/dinner/drinks!! read more

We love Whitewater! I'm a big fan or this place! It's not a far drive for us, it's a great venue, with great staff all the way around! They are always friendly and helpful! They also have a great amount of people there for any Emergency or issue that happens! Keep in mind, the concerts can have a lot of people so it may be crowded but people are pretty considerate of others. Parking can be busy but there are plenty of places to park outside of the venue as well. The food and drinks are good too! The nachos are very good! I enjoyed the Waterloo black cherry lemonade most recently! I would definitely recommend that one! We always enjoy ourselves when we go! read more

This place is a typical out door venue. The parking is wild and it seems the lot is too small to house all 5k guests so you will likely have to park elsewhere and walk. The bar is also very busy but they have enough people to manage it. It's mostly a standing space and on rocks and gravel and dirt. So don't wear sandals it's dusty. They have vip seats on the side and back of the space but it's not as vip as you would like. I would recommend going for cheap tickets and a good time. Take drinks in the roadie but don't bring them in. They have metal machines and will frisk your cowboy boots. Out door so it's always hot. read more

If I could give this venue zero stars, I would. It was truly that bad. I recently went to see Rainbow Kitten Surprise and, thankfully, they were amazing but this venue just isn't it. As someone who has worked in event management, I try not to be too harsh, but the management of this venue and event setup was honestly the worst I have ever seen. Line: If you have general admission tickets, be prepared to wait in line for at least 30 minutes. When we got to the venue, we were rudely greeted with "General Admission, get in line," and directed to a line that literally wrapped around the entire parking lot. Despite being a fairly large venue, they only have one entrance and there are three roadblocks before you actually get into the event. 1. You must get your ID checked and get a wristband, however, they only have 5 people checking this which severely slows down this process and is likely the cause of the line in the first place. 2. You have to go through security, again there are only about 4-5 lines for bag checks and metal detectors, further contributing to the already horrible bottleneck. 3. Finally, you get your ticket scanned. Once again, only a few people are managing this step for the 100s of guests waiting to get in. I fully understand that all of these actions are crucial steps but from an event management standpoint, the points of entry and workers helping out with the processes absolutely need to be expanded. Bar: You would think the line to the bar would be faster considering they don't have to be the ones checking IDs but that's definitely not the case. Luckily, there are multiple bar stations but you will still be waiting minimum of 15 minutes to get to the front. The bar menu is fine but the cocktails are pre-batched (again, this should speed things up but it doesn't). Upon checkout, the bartender who handed us water bottles and poured us three pre-batched cocktails from a tap asked "would you like to tip 20, 25, or 30%?" I'm more than happy to tip service providers but giving options starting at 20% for not even making the actual cocktails is ridiculous. Parking: Parking is VERY limited at this venue and they don't even fill it up all the way. First of all, roads get really backed up on event nights so arrive at least an hour early if you want a spot and don't want to miss any of your concert. Upon arrival, we attempted to park in the venue lot and were told it was full so we ended up parking with one of the businesses next door which was its own nightmare in itself. Once we finally got to the line to get in, which was looping throughout the parking lot, there were multiple rows of open spots that just weren't being used (see photos). Venue: Overall, I get the appeal of the venue with the trees and amphitheater setup but it just isn't worth the headache. I couldn't see the band for the majority of the concert because there's very minimal slope to GA so everyone is pretty much on the exact same level. I literally attempted to make a little mound with the gravel to stand on to at least see the band members' heads. read more

As someone who worked professionally in the music industry for years, I have never seen a venue so mismanaged. Starting off the parking was difficult to find with poor and inadequate signage and very little directing of or managing traffic. Rather than employ people to manage traffic and ensure a streamlined parking experience they rely on an insufficient, ill equipped amount of county sheriffs who sent us in the wrong direction twice to wait in a three mile line of traffic after we had waited 25 minutes in traffic, leading to over an hour and a half detour only to result in the parking lot being full and us having to park a mile away. As if the parking wasn't bad enough, despite finally arriving well into the openers set, it took 35 minutes to gain entry due to the line and not enough employees working entry. Additionally, after going through security and having to pay for a locker they made us wait in line another 30 minutes to gain entry. Compared to a concert where I was physically assaulted, this was a worse concert experience. Even if my favorite band plays here, I will never return. read more

I've been to a few concerts here and there is a lot of good and some bad. I don't mind the 15 bucks to park and those that complain obviously have never paid 50 bucks to park at Jerryworld to see the Cowboys play or paid for parking in a large city. We usually arrive early set up camp and pop a few tops before the concert. Security is a breeze and everyone was more than helpful and friendly. We were even offered a cold bottle of water and told there were water stations set up throughout. No backpacks or handbags are allowed so either lighten your load or bring a clear plastic baggie thing. Yea the food is subpar and the cocktails are MEH but we eat beforehand and we bite the bullet and pay the bandit prices for a couple of cocktails. It does get crowded and it does get pretty stuffy during our hot TX evenings so dress accordingly. Also, it seems that the "VIP" sections are growing from our last visit. During our most recent visit, it seemed that the crowd was more interested in selfies, getting drunk, and not really into the artist. There were quite a few folks around us who were well over-served. Be aware: If you purchase general admission tickets you will be standing the entire concert, you will get filthy dusty, and if you want to get close to the stage you will be packed in like sardines. Be aware that the Comal County Sherriffs have a pretty strong presence FM306 so watch your speed to and from. read more

Went to see Modest Mouse last night here! If you're lucky enough to be in VIP or skybox then you have the best service possible. You al get to order food aside from drinks. Drinks are bit pricy and so is bottle service but the view and ability to hear a band so well is worth it. It's right by canyon lake and you can often hear the streams. Restrooms are clean and directly below the skybox are chairs if you are disabled and need to be close to stage. One of the best pavilions around in Texas and glad to have witnessed it twice already. read more

This is off-the-beaten-path Hill Country Texas, y'all, at a venue thst brings 99% country performers... it's not like we're at an urban hardcore show prone to brass knuckles and thrashings They have a clear bag policy, but I still had to walk thru a metal detector, AND be wanded, AND interrogated about why my waistline and Chucks were alerting (hello??! Jeans have a metal button. Chucks have metal eyes for the laces. Ugh!), AND have my tiny little wristlet rifled thru. Parking is $15. Cash only. Water is $3. (I only know this because the beer selection absolutely *blows* - Coors Light and Blue Moon ONLY, not even Lone Star. WTF?! See what I mean about Whitewater not seeming to recognize that it IS in Texas?? Ugh!) No empty water bottles or CamelBaks are allowed. It's only a million and 3 degrees outside. Seems reasonable, right?? Eff safety, make allllll the money. Whitewater is a toob facility, but you can't rent a toob and listen from the water. (THAT might make their ridiculousness worthwhile!) Very large venue, mostly standing. The sound was pretty good, and the back drop of trees behind the stage is pleasant to look at. The drinks are somewhat limited, but a standard price for a venue (beers are around $7). The bathrooms are just portapotties which is how you expect. There's a water hydration station for free water. A bit of seating space in the back near the merch areas. Parking is decent if you're about an hour early. Pay $20 to park across the street in a big gravel lot, Police directing traffic. I'd probably come back for another show, but only if It's someone I really like since I'm from Austin and it's about an hour-15 min drive. read more

Honestly, only way I'd go back is if I purchase VIP seating. The crowds are rude and I had to listen to people all around complaining about how they can't see. One chick even threatening to punch someone if her view gets blocked again. Makes for a not so enjoyable experience. Standing shoulder to shoulder with a rough crowd is miserable for 3-4 hours. Not worth it for general admission. If your down for listening to the complaining and ready to stand the entire performance, general admission is for your! Otherwise, purchase an actual seat/VIP. read more

This is a really cool venue for live music. The ground can get a little muddy because there is not a lot of seating but the sound quality was really good and the concessions were not as expensive as I thought as the beers were six dollars and they did have part of a full bar. The restrooms were Porta potty's but so is circuit of the Americas and this place is pretty cool to drive out to there is a really nice view in the evening. read more

I wish I could give zero stars, but I cannot so here is my story of my last experience at Whitewater since I will not be returning ever again. This was my third time this year at this venue and by far my worst experience. Our first concert of the season had no issues, but that is where the good experiences end. In July we attended a concert (our second of the season) and my husband was told he cannot bring his Yeti Koozie in due to the fact that it "has a bottom". I asked if this was in their policy and they said yes. Following this, they made him throw his Koozie away. Then I proceeded to ask (nicely) if they could please put this information on their website, and the security woman rudely responded that it is. There was no reason to be so rude when I simply wanted to be fully educated on policies, since we ended up throwing away a fairly expensive Koozie which could've been avoided. We then proceeded to look up the policies and read them in depth prior to our third concert, to avoid anymore loss of personal items. During this we noticed that it says NO WHERE in their policy or on their website that Yeti Koozies are not allowed. It states that Yeti Mugs and Tumblers, and other DRINKING CONTAINERS are not allowed. Just so y'all know, a Koozie is not a drinking container and cannot hold any liquid. Fast forward to this past weekend. As I said, we read all policies in advance to avoid another situation. It should be noted that I am an asthmatic and have severe IBS, however when I go out both of these conditions can be controlled with over-the-counter medications. My usual bag contains Benadryl, Gas-X, Pepto, & Lactaid, with the occasional Dramamine. This is the same lineup of over-the-counter (no prescription) meds that I have brought to every single event I've been to at Whitewater as advised by my doctor. Going through security, they immediately told me that I could not bring ANY over the counter medication in. They told me that I could pay for a locker. This means that if I needed my medication during the concert, I would essentially have to leave for the night since the lockers are located outside the venue and there is no re-entry allowed. My husband and I asked to speak to the security manager, because we had never been told of this or saw it in their policy. A woman, who was not the security manager, came over and was very rude, telling us that this policy had always been in effect. When I told her that this was our first time we had been told this and had been here multiple times, she changed her story to say this had been the policy since April. We then said that all of our experiences this summer were from May-July and again had never been told this. We asked to see the policy where it states that over-the-counter medication cannot be brought in, and they refused to show us. The staff simply said that only prescription medication can be brought in (meaning I could bring prescription painkillers, but not Gas-X??). At this point, the woman who came over is announcing loudly that I cannot bring Gas-X even after I explain that this is for my IBS. I am now in tears, because it is hard enough to have IBS as a young female but having my condition and meds announced loudly to strangers is incredibly embarrassing. After fighting through tears, they allowed me a "medical" bag tag and to enter if I threw my Dramamine away. I was absolutely MORTIFIED at how we were treated, especially since IBS is considered an "impair[ment] to major bodily functions, such as digestion and bowel function. " and protected by the American Disability Act. On another note this venue is outdoors and allows smoking, which I do not have a problem with. However as an asthmatic, it is an incredibly dangerous situation if I cannot bring Benadryl in. Yes, I carry an emergency inhaler but this use can be prevented with a simple Benadryl. After coming home from the concert, we once again looked up Whitewater's policies (the ones they refused to show us) and there is nothing in the venue or clear bag policy that states anything about over-the-counter medication. I have never in my life been treated with such disrespect that I was treated with at this venue. It is a true shame that some of our favorite artists come to this venue, because we will never be returning. read more

I was very impressed with our recent visit to Whitewater. My husband is in a very heavy electric wheelchair that doesn't do well in uneven surfaces. When we got there, someone immediately came over to help us and walked with us through the ticket line. They tagged our bag after a quick search to make sure everyone knew it was medical. After that, they had us hang over to the side a bit while we waited for someone to take us to the ADA section (which was great bc we had only bought GA tickets). When that person got there, we explained going through the rocks was a no go, so he led us down the concrete paths and moved people out of the way so my husband could get through safely. This even included having to navigate behind a little bar area and that bar tender was super nice about it as well. The whole concert was great! We had great seats and a security person ensured that the ADA seats were only being used by the people that needed them and not just people trying to get closer. At the end of the concert (it was sold out so there were a million people) I thought it was going to be a nightmare getting out.... I was wrong though. They led us out of there by helping block the way and asking people to move so we could get out safely (and without running over people with a 600 lb chair lol) Overall it was a really great experience and I'm definitely impressed with how the venue handled themselves to help my husband have a good time as well. read more

They took my money December 2019 for a concert in April 2020 and have rescheduled it twice for a date that is a year and a half later than originally expected in October 2021. This is a bad business, they should have offered a refund at the first and/or second rescheduled dates. Be careful buying tickets in advance, they may hold on to your money for years or forever, like they're doing with me. read more

If I could magically appear to this venue and then magically make it home, I would love it. I have been here twice: Willie Nelson and Randy Rogers Band. Getting there for top artists is a pain in the butt. 306 is only two lanes and traffic is a nightmare. Once you are there you will likely stand in huge lines unless you are VIP. The place is huge and the chaired sitting and VIP seating probably have the best sounds. Drinks are $12 for a tall mixed drink. The liquor is watered down. Beer selection is very limited. Food trucks provide some food choices. Both times I went, Cajun on the Geux was there. Restrooms are plentiful but DISGUSTING. Someone urinated all over several sears (these were women urinals) and another urinal had feces all over. When the concert is over, you have to walk over stones and grass (choose your shoes wisely) and then it takes a god while to get back onto the road. So if you like a good outdoorsy venue, with $15 parking, crappy restrooms, but a pretty good sound then this is your place! Don't forget bug spray!!! read more

VERY BAD MISMANAGEMENT - the owner has a private elevated deck with his own bar so that he and his guests don't have to suffer all the following that his customers suffer in spades. Shockingly derelict. Can't tell you how much we paid for round after round of the worst cocktails EVER in over 30 years as an adult. We went from one serving area to another thinking the next bartender could mix a remotely decent drink, and we were wrong. We ended up trying 5 different drinks; all swill that we didn't take more than two sips. One I finally took back to the bar and said "I give up, this is my 3rd drink, it's terrible" and surrendered to a Coors Light, hate most beers and they only offer like 3 beers; 2 of which are Coors, and a wheat beer. Yuck. So much for enjoying some drinks with entertainment. No sir. As examples, one wanted to put Cola in a Tom Collins, then "lacking simple lemon juice" proceeded to squeak out a couple drops of juice from each of 8 "lime wedges" to slightly flavor a flavorless Collins. Another put Sprite in a Margarita before we could stop her. Pure trash. Zero experience/knowledge bartenders who didn't even try to look up what we thought were foolproof drinks they butchered. The food was no better. And not changing from other visits. Cajun food ... sounds attractive perhaps? Think again. Couldn't remember why didn't like the chicken Cajun taquitos from a previous event... oh yeah, now I see why, there's no chicken in the taquito, just some mush purée of cat food. Seriously for any readers who can cook AT ALL, how hard is it to make a decent chicken taquito?!? that doesn't appear to be made from a diaper? Totally unappetizing; shocking. I've never been one of those anti smokers, but jeez people get a clue - you're paying to imbibe toxins and you're poisoning yourself and those around you. Never had so much smoke in my face in decades. They now have ridiculous purse restrictions, basically allowing only a handbag large enough to hold a single feminine product for the ladies. This all no doubt to prevent people from smuggling in decent food and drinks because they're desperate for anything actually consumable in this wretched venue. They terribly oversell tickets to popular performers like W. Nelson, with people so packed in you can't get through passageways to get out to a restroom or a drink if you're so brave. Authorities should shut that down. Lastly, ok come on, you're in a venue where people have to see beyond people to see performers, and they allow people to wear hats?!?!? Every person wearing a hat... and there are many... means people behind them cannot see the stage. Hello! Get a clue. I kid you not, there was even some @@&### wearing a 2 1/2+ foot sombrero that they let in wearing it. I've been attending concerts regularly for many decades, and am confident in saying, this is the worst venue I've had to endure. read more

And I'm SO disappointed to report that they charged us SEVENTY dollars to bring our FIVE MONTH OLD sleeping baby that was strapped to me in a baby carrier to the show. So incredibly offensive. They're that desperate for money that they're charging for infants??? Can just go see shows elsewhere. read more

This venue is okay, but it's a decently long trek from the highway, their parking lot space is fairly limited (and $15 cash only, you'd think paying for a ticket would include the cost of parking) so you often end up having to park farther away and walk far and still pay around $10. Also, my main beef with them - I carefully reviewed their venue policies prior to attending a recent concert, and it said that vape refills were allowed if less than 5 oz in size. They only allow small, clear purses, so I was aware of that and came prepared so I wouldn't have to deal with walking back to my car or paying to rent a locker - which costs $10 for the small one, $15 for a bigger one. I also brought my vape pen and was told it was not allowed, so I was forced to pay to rent a locker because my other options were to walk back to my car parked very far away and miss more of the show than I already did having to spend time renting the locker, storing my vape pen, and getting back in the long line for security... or I guess I could have thrown it away, that would be the third option which I obviously didn't want to do. I emailed the venue afterward to confirm why it wasn't allowed, since (as they even admitted) the Venue Policies section of their website did not mention that requirement at all - this is the exact answer they gave me: "Because the oil refill cartridge was already attached and outside of its original packaging, it was considered an 'unlabeled substance,' and that is why it was not allowed even though it met the other requirements." They said they'd ask management to update the Venue Policies section of the website to ACCURATELY reflect existing policies so this wouldn't be an issue in the future, yet even after admitting they were wrong, they refused to refund the $10 I wasted renting a locker. Well, my family and I are refusing to ever return to their venue because that is shady, and we don't deal with businesses that are not up front and don't act in accordance with their policies. read more

I read all the reviews about this place before we went and I was terrified that it was going to be terrible for the whiskey myers concert we went to, but it was awesome and I felt like none of them were that true haha the lines for drinks were kinda long but moved fast. The only complaint I had was I felt like we got way over charged for the amount of drinks we had, I wasn't drunk and kept count like I always do of how much we drank and the tab didn't match what we had. So my only advice would be don't start a tab, just pay for your drinks one by one even if it's a hassle! read more

First of all, I was here as a guest of someone who owned one of the VIP box suites. Hence why I'm giving this venue 4 instead of 3 stars. Yes this is an outdoor concert place. Yes it is along the river. Yes it is not a place for big time acts. But it's not asking too much to have indoor plumbing!!!! There were outhouses and foot pedal hand washing stations at the back of the place. This place looked like the pavilion everyone gathers at during summer camp to collect your participation badges.However, it is also located on a spot where you can rent water tubes and other items to float the nearby river. Buy a Groupon if you can!!! I also noticed long lines winding through the gravel as people waited to get in. You cannot bring purses or backpacks or you will have to buy a clear plastic bag from security for $10 to put your items in before they let you through the gates. Wear comfortable shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. You will be doing a lot of walking from the dirt/gravel parking areas through the lines to get in. Once inside, it's concrete except for the grass lined area where the outhouses are located. When you come here dress in very casual light airy clothing. The air doesn't flow freely. However, the view from inside is beautiful, especially at the top level, and it's so nice to listen to music under the stars. If you come expecting a cool laidback music loving experience you're in for a nice evening. The place is small enough to get an intimate feel with the musicians. read more

I remember Whitewater being an river outfitter and campground in the 70s. Gone is the campground and today we have active music venue. Whitewater Amphitheater has an address of New Braunfels but it is really located at Canyon Lake. We "Lakers" have been in debate with them since they opened about listing themselves as being "IN" NB... WA is approximately 15 miles from NB city limits yet 2 miles from Canyon Lake dam, so you decide. I think it is very misleading to guests that are not familiar with the area. Maybe some one from out of town books a room in NB thinking they will be close to the venue. Nope, they gotta drive 30 min away out in the country to get there... when they could really find accommodations at beautiful Canyon Lake area which would be great for the local economy. WA defense is that the mailing address is listed as NB and the line is drawn right at the river... so because they are on the NB side of the Guadalupe River just two miles from the dam where the water flows out of, they get an NB address. Whatever WA... You are located AT Canyon Lake!!! I wish they would make that clear in their advertisements to the general public... We drove in the back way from the lake side of FM 306 to avoid traffic on 306 from IH 35. I hear sometimes it can get really backed up on that two lane road farm to market road. Get there early for a better parking space or spend some extra cash for VIP parking. We did, and it was nice to be parking right up front. Traffic leaving sux. Bring an ice chest filled with cold drinks while you wait... it might be awhile. Again, I went home another way and avoiding 306 to 35. A few miles out of the way is worth avoiding the headache. I HATE port - a - potties!!!... and that's what you get out in the country... Yuck! At least I never had to wait for one... and there is a washing station for hands, thank goodness. People need to please understand, there are no city sewer systems out in the country so no flushies. The ground is rock and building a septic system at a place like this would be nearly impossible and not worth the expense and upkeep.... plus it's so close to the river, and the river floods! Bar wait was short, or at least it was the night we were there. 160z Coors Light $6. I really liked being able to pick up free rolling papers from the 420 Dude (aka DWI Dude) at each of the cash registers. Nice touch Jamie! Ha! Lots of ticket options: GA, VIP skyboxes (Seats 16), VIP tables (seats 6), and Preferred Seating. My favorite view is VIP picnic table, $720 the night I was there. I love the trees. I love the lights in the trees. I love the venue is right along the Guadalupe River. Go Float during the day, Concert in the evening, Stay overnight in one of their cabins down the road. Make a vacay adventure. They bring in fairly a wide variety of music to this venue. Rarely anything I'm interested in seeing though since I am a rocker. They have brought in ZZ Top and Foreigner both of which I wanted to see but for one reason or another, I didn't get a chance to make it out there. My first concert at this venue wasn't rock, what a shock!... How about some classic outlaw country for the girl!... Hank Williams Jr! I think I read it had be something like 25 years since he has been in this area. Great show. Great venue. "All my rowdy friends are coming over tonight!" Now I would like to see them please bring in Hank Williams III!!! (who puts on an awesome show, classic country first set then comes back with his heavy metal/ doom metal set with his hair down looking like a completely different person). WA was to host the Mayhem Fest Fri 31 Jul this year but it has since been moved to a horrible venue in SA. Not sure what happened but maybe Slayer and King Diamond weren't the perfect fit for the usual Americana type of music venue. Maybe Metal Heads didn't want to pay the high prices for all the VIP and preferred seating choices. I know many were upset that WA didn't offer the $29 GA tix the first 72 hours tix were on sale. I know I was and I didn't buy tix. TOTALLY awesome venue! We saw Stoney LaRue and Midnight River Choir there in Summer 2010. =============== PROS: Full bar - but they stop serving liquor early for some reason - I think it may have been 9pm or 10pm but not sure - I'm just a beer drinker so no big deal. Plenty of bars - lines were not long AT ALL PLENTY of room - even though there were a TON of people at the show, I didn't feel claustrophobic. The general admission area in front of the stage is sloped just a bit, so you get a good view and are able to see over the people in front of you. Sound was GREAT! All of the staff was friendly and helpful - kudos to the management for getting such a good team in there. Very fun, laid back place - they attract some REALLY good bands over the summer. =============== CONS: The traffic in and out of the place sucks. We knew this ahead of time and actually parked our cars at the WalMart in New Braunfels and took a cab there. We didn't want to drive in all that traffic on the dark two lane road after we had been drinking a bit. It's an added cost, but it's worth it to be safe - plus you get to kick back and laugh with your friends some more during the ride back - almost like an extension of the concert! =============== Bottom line is, I will definitely be back for more concerts this summer - the traffic is the ONLY thing I had a problem with and the ONLY thing keeping them from 5 stars! read more

I'd like this place a lot better if it weren't so far from Austin, but gripey music-averse neighbors ran The Backyard out of town, and it wouldn't hold the crowd size that some of the artists they book draw at WhiteWater. We made the hike out here to the Canyon Lake area to see Neil Young this week in his closest tour to Austin this time around, so I'd say it was worth it, because it was Neil Young! Willie even sat in for a couple of songs. Willie seems to play here a lot. If you live in New Braunfels, San Marcos, or San Antonio, WhiteWater is closer to you than to us music-saturated and thus far pickier Austinites. But we will show up anyway, if you book an artist we want to travel an hour and a half to see. The venue is completely open to the elements, which makes the guarantee of "rain or shine" events a little sketchy, especially if you weren't lucky enough to score a metal stadium seat (but wait...what if there's lightning?). Thanks so much, scalpers, because the venue sold out immediately for Neil Young. We were lucky to score anything. Standing room only means a dirt floor, and mud if there's rain. Open sky/air means sweltering if it's summer during the day. Plan accordingly. The sound system here is stellar, which is important when viewing rock/country legends. Food & drinks are available, including a few mixed drinks, like a vodka sweet tea. Ours were strong, which helps the mood when standing for hours. Parking is $10 there, if you're lucky enough to score a spot on-site. If not, don't fret, because the opportunistic neighboring businesses will let you park in their dirt back lots for the same fee, and it's just a short walk away. Some folks were parking free along the highway, but I thought the added security was worth the $10. The line of stopped cars waiting to get in to park starts forming a mile or so down the highway. Disappointing when you're trying to arrive on time. You know you're in the country when the Sheriff security guard out front drawls, "Sorry, they're full-up at the moment," and waves you on. Now you'll know where to go. The hill country area out here is incredibly beautiful, with rolling hills, trees, and the Guadalupe River running right past the venue. My hubby took me to see GirlTalk last night at Whitewater. Before we got there, I wasn't too excited about a venue that didn't allow blankets or chairs to be brought in with you (I have been spoiled by all the outdoor venues around Austin). But, I was pleasantly surprised once we got inside. The Amphitheater is located along the banks of the river, but there is a fence that doesn't allow you to get into the river. There are large trees around and the grounds are crushed gravel. There are three different levels of in front of the stage, with the lowest being the nearest. The second level requires you to pay extra... not sure why. We stayed in the third level, this level goes all the way back to the bars at the back. There was plenty of space here to dance and move around as well. The sound was absolutely amazing. The bass was loud, the treble crisp and everything in between was fantastic! The crowd was great, too. Most everyone was there from Austin. 101X was a sponsor. Didn't see the normal crowds we do in San Antonio, and that made us very happy. Who would have ever thought that there would be such a huge difference in people from these two cities! We aren't drinkers, so we partook of a lot of water,, the bottles were only $2 each, not too expensive like other venues. Many people talked about the difficulty with parking and getting out of the lot. There are numerous other places to park in the area (they charge $5-$10) that allow you to skip that hassle. We looked at the website and the alternative ways to get to the amphitheater. We ended up parking about half a mile away and it was a very easy walk. After the concert ended, we were in our car, headed home, in less than 15 minutes! And, there was no traffic to speak of on the road. All in all, I was very happy with Whitewater.
