The most fun I have had in a long time. This is a great auction with cars,trucks and SUV's. You can walk away with a decent vehicle for under 1k depending on your taste you can get a less expensive vehicle if you chose. The auctioneers are honest and will tell you all about the vehicle whether it was donated traded in - has a salvage title - needs a windshield - etc. Of course it as an auction so nothing is guaranteed but they drive the car up to you place new batteries if needed. This will be a new weekend sport for me. I love it people are funny - watched at least 5 cars get taking out because no one wanted to bid (we are talking about $500 bids on early models) if I had the finances I would and could have bought family members all a new car. After reading all the reviews, literally, I must say.... If you think your going to the auto auction to buy a $500 car, less than 5 years old, that originally sold for 80k, I have beach front property in Kansas you like! Stop the sob stories and rate the company for the REAL business it is, they sell cars good and bad. I have been to many auto auctions and worked with a good friend who owned an auto auction company in the Mid-West. When I was young and new to the game, he would have me bidding against the Coke machine and I never knew it!!! That's what auctioneers need to do. Not everything should sell to the highest bidder that day! Maybe there was not enough interest in the car to sell it or should I say give it away. Taxes and Fees are at every auction!!! Why complain? These ppl do not disclose everything that is wrong with the car sounds fine when you start them as they don't let you test drive them at all so they sound ok we bought one sounded great at the yard drove it off stopped at gas station and it all goes bad find out needs a new transmission and few other things total cost for repairs on a 1300 dollar car was an extra 1965.00 they are not good people to not tell ppl in need of a car in these hard times and they wanna cheat people I do not recommend buying anything from them unless you are willing to spend way more to fix it. read more

Looked into getting a car here. They responded very quickly to both phone and email. But the lady who responded to both forms of communication was unhelpful and seemed annoyed/ rushed me. She also didnt answer any of the questions I had. Additionally, in responding to my email she simply referred me to the website which I had already looked at and hadnt helped. I bought a car from this place 2-16-21 and it broke down on me on the way home. It was a 99 Toyota Solara that "runs and drives". It did but for only about 12 miles. I spent $1650 to get me 12 miles. This place is a rip off and shouldn't be allowed to do business. I would never recommend or shop at this place again. When my fiancé called and explained what happened they told her "good luck" and hung up on her. This place is truly a lemon lot and only business they do is bad business. Whitey's is what it is: A wonderful place that helps those who do not have much money like my husband and as two hard working people so you can have wheels and a vehicle that will last you a couple of good years. Thank you, Whitey's. Without you, my husband and I would have never had a car. You can get a car for under 1,000 that is decent and can last you a good couple of years. We have gotten three cars there...all that needed repairs but they all lasted over 2 years and I consider that getting my money's worth. Do not go here expecting to get a CERTAIN year car with a CERTAIN mileage. You have to be OPEN TO WHAT THEY HAVE and go with that and do the VIN"s and then go from there. Also, be a SMART CONSUMER, be REALISTIC ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE GETTING, HONOR their system and you will be golden. First off the lady who handled my transaction was nice and pleasant. I bought a van that said it runs and drives. They don't let you do anything with the engine besides turn it on. I drove it 0.4 miles and it broke down right as I was about to get onto the highway. I get it. You buy a car, "As is" but another 0.2 or 0.3 miles and I could have been seriously hurt or hurt someone else for a "car that runs." They're a liability. I had it towed to a shop and 4:6 coils were bad, but they say it drives after I asked them if anything was wrong with the car. I was told if anything serious was wrong with the car they are supposed to mention it. LIABILITY.... UPDATE.... just got a call back from the auto shop and after they replaced the coils and water in the ignition, he said, "this car has a lot going on and we stopped after we got to the camshaft because we kept finding a rabbit hole. I really don't know where to begin or what to say that can truly express my gratitude for the professional, personal, quality service I received with my recent vehicle purchase from the FINE Folks at Whitey's. To start I think you should know that I live in Houston Texas and made this transaction sight unseen (pictures only) over the phone. I received the best possible detailed verbal and email correspondence one could expect. Never could I have imagined online car buying to be so smooth. The original car I was calling about had been sold but I told them exactly what I was looking for and withing 30 min. (it was my lucky day) I received a call that a car of interest had just came in. I was sent pictures with in 15 min. and a email with a detailed description of the vehicle. The car had not been in service for several years and was noted to have a faulty fuel pump. They offered to have the repairs made locally (at my expense) and confirm the running condition prior to shipping and they assisted me with coordinating a pick up schedule with my Carrier. This entire process was effortless and processed without any issue. The deal was completed in one week including the repair and 17 days after my first call my new vehicle was in my driveway. Whitey's, you gave me my dream car for a tiny, tiny price. Since I moved to the mainland, I've grown enamored of the late 70s/early 80s Mercedes-Benz sedans-- specifically, the Mercedes 240D. There's just something about these cars that I find endearing. It's like driving a cute little grandma. I told a mechanic buddy about wanting to pick up a diesel Mercedes (because, you know, you can run them on french fry grease!) and he turned me on to Whitey's Auctions. The auctions run alternating Sundays in Pacific and Olympia. I went to the Pacific auction two weeks ago, not really knowing what to expect. On their website they show the sales prices of the cars at their previous auction-- I thought I was going to buy a car for $300. See, Whitey's doesn't start bids at zero-- they start the bidding high, and work their way down to the minimum amount they want to sell a car for. Once people start bidding, the price goes back up. I thought this was a smart way to run the auction-- people who get antsy and start bidding too high end up paying more, when they really could have waited and gotten a better deal. Unfortunately for me, the auction I attended was full of dealers dropping a grand on crappy Ford Tauruses, and I left empty-handed and annoyed. I decided to give it a shot two weeks later and noticed that there was a Mercedes 240D on the block, so I went to the auction on a whim and ended up snagging it for a paltry $600. I was the only bidder. It's a great little car and it is running just fine, perfect interior, perfectly functioning power windows and locks, with very minor fixes-- a comparable car would go for $2K on Craigslist. Such is the power of the auto auction. :D My only regret is that I didn't wait for them to drop the auction price even lower... but I got a little flutter in my heart that I'm going to say was my cute little grandma car whispering "Take me home..." read more

My son bid on what appeared to be a nice car, at our first and only auction at Whiteys. After the auction, he paid the deposit and asked if we could look at the car. The lady in the office told us not until it's paid in full. He talked her into letting us look first. When we went to the car and started it, it squealed really bad but we assumed it was just a belt. Then I noticed that the check engine light remained on. It wasn't on before the auction. Then we noticed it was smoking really bad from underneath the car...not just the exhaust pipes. We opened the hood and pulled the dipstick to notice about 3 qts too much oil but it looked super watery! We returned the next day with a friend to see if he thought we should drive or tow it. The yard guy was super nice and then suddenly came to us and said he had to take the key because the lady in the office said it wasn't paid in full yet. I went to the window to talk to the office lady. I explained to her that we are trying to figure out if we need to tow it or if it can be driven. She told me nope, not until it's PIF. I asked her why the engine light was now on and why it was suddenly smoking. She said our cars are all inspected by a mechanic. I asked if he was on site so I could ask him questions. She said no. I asked her what kind of inspection, she didn't know. I asked if we could get our deposit back and she said no. Our cars are sold as is, your son knew that when he signed the paperwork. I said, yes, I understand but, the engine light was not on when we previewed it and it wasn't smoking. She said it was fine until your son messed with it. Keep in mind....we simply turned on the key. So I said perhaps your mechanic cleared the engine codes just before the auction and that is why the check engine light wasn't on. She said it was inspected. At this point the lady in the office started yelling at me repeating herself, saying our cars are sold in "As is" condition. I then said , well the condition we previewed it in and the condition it was in after the auction are 2 different conditions.....It didn't matter to her. She was screaming at me to get off of their lot. So, my son, my friend and I left this scamming car auction lot. We DID NOT receive our deposit back and they will get another deposit in 2 weeks when this car rolls back across the bidding line. (What a way to make money.). My son was high bidder at $1500. He was charged $1550. While at this auction, I watched a woman who probably wasn't mentally competent enough to purchase a car. Bid on 2 different cars, come back and ask how much it was and when the auctioneer told her she said it was too much and changed her mind. He did sell her a car....she was in front of us at the cashier, gave them a deposit and they explained all of the fees to her. She said, I didn't know anything about all of this as she walked away. Legally, I don't think you can sell a car to someone who simply doesn't have the understanding. Would I recommend this place............Hell NO! I would advise everyone to stay clear away! Afterwards I read google reviews on it. WIsh I would have done so before I went there. Oh, and I will add, they are not BBB accredited! They no longer pay for it and I am sure there is a good reason why! They also do not offer a customer review on their website.....Also for good reason I am sure. read more

Broke student just moved home and had to give up my car that I had a loan on because it got too much so I piled up some money and came down to whiteys with a good friend and we found a beautiful Honda Accord 1998 V6 138k miles we watched people starting it up and saw a lot of positivity coming off the car so we went and checked it out. Car sounded and looked great no matter what happened we were getting it. Looked up blue book on it that night made our bidding deciscions on how high we would go. The day of the auction we showed up in the freezing cold and sat under pop up tent area with all the other bidders and waited for the Honda to come around it still sounded great being started up the guys called it a Mercedes benz and then quickly corrected themselves and the bidding started we won the car at $2600 shortly after we got hit with $800 in dol but mainly buyers premium fees (12%)which are higher then DOL base fee (9.8%) after paying for everything I am informed I must wait until the whole auction is over to pick up my car. Later I pick up my vehicle so excited to finally receive a reliable mode of transportation that I can use to start my new job at home and as I pull out of the gravel the transmission slips immediately between 0-10 and 10-20 so we drive it around to see if it needs warming up and that is not the case every red light every stop it slips as I accelerate I decide to have the vehicle inspected and the very well accredited shop I take the vehicle to informs me I bought a lemon with original parts that are corroding and oil pan leaking and many other issues but the worst is the transmission is shot and going down hill they say I can safely drive the car but that eventually it will leave me stranded without serious repairs which exceed even the value of the vehicle ($4500 for a reliable new transmission) the apologize stating there is no way with the vehicle sitting idle that I could have identified this issue but that the auction site was 100% aware of at a minimum the slipping from when they test drive the cars and even pulled up to the auction pad. They have recommended I sell it for what I can get and move forward with Craigslist or a reliable used dealer. Auctions are set up for some people to win and some people to lose but this vehicle was 100% misrepresented they knew the tranny was going and they chose to not disclose that information and allow the bidding to rocket significantly above the blue book for the condition of the car without acknowledging its true faults. read more

Nice cars for cheap but.... You are going to be waiting in the check out lines ALL DAY! They are slower than a line at the DMV!!! I've been here since 11 and it's now 4:30 and I'm still waiting in line. Just ask yourself what's your time worth....they only have 1 girl processing all the paperwork for all of the cars auctioned off...so I dont feel like they value my time at all. read more

This place is sketchy at best. The management is very shady. If there's a vehicle that doesn't meet the minimum, they will let it go until next time, which is fine. However, occasionally the owner will bid against you to raise up the price. Also be prepared to deal with rude staff, one of which has anger management issues. read more

I used to be a regular at Whitey's. I knew all the guys and gals who worked there and have bought many cars from them. My boyfriend is a mechanic and car lover so he loves getting cars to fix up. We have never bid over $1000 for a car which has brought us many cheap, good running cars. This past weekend, it was time for us to get another car and instead of wasting time on craigslist, we hit up Whitey's first. We went there Saturday for the preview and registered with the girl in the office. We walked all over the lot and looked at the different cars and had a good idea of what cars we would be bidding on. We did not get keys and start cars up because they drive the cars around the lot and in front of the bidders on the day of the auction. We crawled thru the cars and looked under hoods. It was freezing that day, so after about an hour of exploring we left feeling hopeful that we would have a car the next day. We showed up Sunday morning for the auction and found the chairs were not set up for the auction and we asked one of the workers if they were closing up. He told us no but that we would be walking around the lot with the auctioneer making bids. This seemed weird to us but we went with it. We met up with our friends who were also looking to buy a car. There was maybe 20-30 people there for the auction. The auction started and the auctioneer was not the regular auctioneer we knew. Very quickly we found out that this is no longer an auction but more like a car lot!! The auctioneer would tell us how much they wanted for the car and would barely budge on that price. Our friends and family have labeled Buicks as Whitey's special because I have a love of Buicks and have always walked away from Whitey's with a decent running Buick for under $1000. One of the Buicks I was interested in this time, they were asking for 1900! Another one was 950! If you dont know Whitey's, you have to know that the taxes, registration and all that on top of the winning bid is a couple hundred more. So bidding 950 for a car, would put me at about 1200 (give or take). Other cars they had on the lot included newer Audis, BMWs, Trucks, etc...those are the big money winners. How extremely disappointing this was. 1.) Homegirl at the office didnt warn us on Saturday that things have changed. 2.) Whitey's didnt get money from me and my boyfriend or the friends that came and we didnt get cars. 3.) I am stuck with the trash that is on craigslist. Oh dear Whitey's, i hope this is only temporary for the winter months? Come summer I hope it is back to the auction business! Good luck with your new car lot read more

I got 2 cars last weekend, both at excellent prices, for my son and daughter, many of the cars are going for 500 to 1,000 dollars and average about half of what you would pay from an owner trying to sell it. The way they do business hasn't changed, as one review was saying. If you have a limited amount to spend, check out the cars on a Saturday afternoon and then come back on Sunday at 11am. You can pick up your bid number and information on the cars on Saturday, car fax the vin #, or even put in an absentee bid if you won't be able to go. 2 years ago I bought a car for myself and one for my oldest son. I'm still driving mine, and my son's was totaled, the insurance company payoff was double what he paid for it. Things to remember when your at the auction, the bid price has a premium of 12 percent added to the sale price and tax on the car is almost 10 percent. So do the math and make sure your not bidding to much. Like all auctions if no one is interested in the car you want you may get it for a great price. Hold off on bidding until the auctioneer get the price low, don't ever bid on the first number he starts with, I'd suggest you go to one and just watch before you get serious about buying. Also these are a lot of fun and really exciting when you leave with a great deal. read more
