I would not give this company any business. They are very dishonest and run a very dishonest business. 1. They do not follow flag protocol according to the VA. They stated they just give it to anyone and act like it's not a big deal. 2. The owner Al, stated twice over the phone that they do not do grave sight livestream after they told my sister they could. My mother and I are in southern Texas and could not travel because of Covid. We were told my brothers funeral would be live streamed and sent an email in regards to it. The day of I called to verify and was told it could not be done. Therefore my mother could not watch her sons funeral, and I could not watch my brothers. I've never dealt with someone so dishonest. I would rate them up there with a used car salesman. They tell you one thing and the truth is completely opposite. Good thing emails and recording devices are readily available. My opinion. Find another funeral home. This one doesn't deserve the business. 3. When confronted about it, he became very agitated and disrespectful. The crew at W & M are kind and caring. Shawn was excellent with his detailed explanation and lighthearted candor in explaining the process. However, I choose 4 stars and not 5, for the following reasons: 1) My Mom's doctor was delaying signing her death certificate (we were told 72 hours). While Shawn did keep me informed, it was extremely difficult to wait only to finally be told that she refused to sign it saying "she wasn't there". (How often are they actually there when someone dies???) He had assured us that if she didn't sign it, another doctor at her office would and that wasn't the case. He even suggested that I call her myself to push the issue. (NOT my job.) 2) At this point, Shawn did not know what to do and I suggested he call the last doctor she saw, the cardiologist. After a disconnected phone call, Shawn called and asked me to call them and I refused. Again, NOT my job. He called the doctor's office again and the cardiologist had it signed in less than an hour. 3) I got a phone call when the death certificates were ready and I asked if everything was ready (I knew the ashes were, but I had ordered holy cards as well). They were not ready. Had I not asked, I would of had to make another trip down there. Unnecessary frustration to say the least. I hope this never happens to another client of theirs. That being said, please don't hesitate to use them, just be prepared, if necessary. W & M has handled multiple funerals for us in the past, given us excellent advice and everything was always top notch. read more

They work well with the Catholic cemetery up the street as well... the only thing really stopping me from giving it 5 stars is it's overpriced and a couple of dirty looks I got from a few of the staff.... but they'll get the job done and make it easy for you which is easier said than done in these situations. read more

Losing my grandmother was the worst moment in my life and also the first time I. Ever had ti handle someones estate. I was immersed in my grief while trying to figure out how to plan her services. W&H has been helping my family for years and was recommended by a family member. Immediately Barb, one of the funeral directors, welcomed me in and patiently walked me through each step. At no point did she ever pressure me or make me feel like I needed to provide answers right away. She respected my budget and gave me multiple options in an effort to meet it and my wishes. Her guidance meant EVERYTHING at the time. I truly felt empathy, warmth and compassion throughout the whole process. Unfortunately 2 months later we lost our aunt and again Barb did an amazing job guiding my family through the emotional process. My sister died unexpectedly in a car accident when someone ran a red light. I was completely unprepared for her passing, she had just turned 30 and was full of life. Whether I was prepared or not, funeral arrangements needed to be made right away. I went to several funeral homes to find the one that really just had the right feel. The right feel for me was a combination of the people that would be assisting and helping us and atmosphere of the place inside and out. I didn't want some dumpy looking place that I was further depressed stepping into. I was impressed with the people that ran the funeral home. They were professional and compassionate. Sympathetic without being phoney. I didn't feel like it was all about the money or that I was dealing with snakes. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The woman that held our services was great. They offered options and choices for additional costs but were not tacky in their approach of presenting the different options. They have a full showroom in the back, where you can choose a casket and all of the little things that you don't really think of, like sign in books or even having your loved ones fingerprint put onto a necklace. I purchased my casket online from a company that delivered overnight and didn't charge any shipping costs (the cost is like $1,000.00 - $2,000.00 less if you do this -for the same casket), but it is nice that they had the caskets available and ready at their location. I couldn't bring myself to buy the fingerprint necklace (it felt a little morbid but I wish I would have gotten it now) but I did get a sign in book and some other things that I needed and it was nice to know everything was on hand. They also were able to provide everything for the service and there are lots of little things. It's like planning a wedding to a certain extent, there is always something else you need to have that you didn't think of. The facilities are really nice inside and out. The building is very well maintained and the landscaping is nicely groomed. Everything was very clean. They have two viewing rooms, one is larger and one is a little bit smaller and more intimate. Both viewing rooms were very well maintained and comfortable. I choose the smaller, more intimate space and was very happy with it. I was also happy with the understanding that they had for my requests. I was able to go in and see my sister's body before anyone else and before the day of the viewing. They allowed me to come into the funeral home on the day of the viewing several hours before the viewing began and spend four or five hours getting her hair and makeup right - by myself without anyone interrupting me (I'm really happy they let me do this because when my mom finally had to see her at the viewing, she looked more like herself but like she was just sleeping). They also gave me the option of being present when they dressed her as I was uncomfortable with anyone handling her body - but in the end, I let them dress her as I felt comfortable with their professionalism and I needed to go home and shower and dress for her ceremony. All in all, they were very nice and understanding. I recommend nobody you love ever passing away but if it happens and you need to find a funeral home, this is a really nice place with top notch people running it. read more

Since I had no prior experience with this situation, a friend mentioned he had at least heard of Whitney & Murphy, so I contacted them - basically a shot in the dark. It was the best choice I could have made. Barb McGrath was incredibly professional and her demeanor was spot on - compassionate and very real. I never once felt they were trying to "sell" me on anything - instead, they graciously complied with my wishes and carefully explained what the costs would be. I'm sure I could have shopped for a lower price, had that been important to me, but you do get what you pay for and with Whitney & Murphy, I feel you get more than you pay for. The entire staff was very, very helpful. This is a first class organization and you can tell they are honestly behind their mission of treating each situation as if it were their own family.
