Came to check out this place and possibly buy feed. I like to support local businesses. Well, I've been waiting for about 45 min for them to open. Outside signage says they open at 10 am but Yelp said 11 am. I waited and waited. Customers have come and gone, waiting outside as well. From the window, I can tell they sell different birds, chickens, cockatiels, and more. I wanted to give this place business, but oh well. Leaving now...it's 1130 am. Bottom line: call before driving over here. Hours vary!

Well taken cared guinea pigs. I wasn't planning to buy the guinea pigs but they were so cute and the customer services is great. So I decided to take two guinea pigs home with some pellets and hay. The hay is only 6 dollars cheaper than petsmart and most pet shops. read more

This place is great. Small but has all your needs for little critters. They sell chickens, rabbits, mice, rats , snakes and guinea pigs. Prices WAY better than all the big box pet stores. Huge bag of fresh Timothy Hay only $6.00. Great deal on guinea pigs. Only $20.00! Even have baby ones. Super cute. Everyone friendly! read more

Ummm did I miss something? Where's all the supplies at? Walked in and saw 1 bag of Canidae a couple bags of taste of the wild. I came here to check out some supplies for my dogs but I didn't see any at all besides the few bags of food. Got to see a bunch of hamster, guinea pigs, and some reptiles but I didn't see any supplies for dogs. Selection was pretty pathetic. Are they hiding the rest of it somewhere else?? read more

This establishment sells live rabbits and breeds them when there are so many getting dumped at the shelter and dying. Their actions are so irresponsible and extremely hurtful to the animals. Would not be coming here and supporting this again. read more

This place is awesome! The guys here really know their stuff. Best of all, they are patient and like sharing knowledge. I was completely clueless when it came to raising chickens. They set me up with everything I needed and have always answered questions when I go in, even if I don't buy anything. We previously had bunnies, and they helped us make sure they were getting the best treatment, food, and care. Amazingly well priced, and a fun place to visit with the family even! I just ordered 3 more chicks from this place and I know that the team here will help me make sure my chicks are well taken care of. read more

This is an independent pet store. It has been a family business for decades and I have been going for about 20 years. They don't have all of the major name brands of pet foods but quite a selection of high quality pet products. If you need chicken feed, wild bird seed and rabbit pellets they have the best prices. You can always find baby chicks and rabbits too. The only thing I would change is that the animal cages are sometimes messy and there isn't enough bedding. But overall a fantastic. read more

My kids & I absolutely LOOOVE the Whittier Feed Store. All I have to do is mention that I might be driving by there & The kids jump in the car begging to go... by the way, they're 11, 14 & 17. They love checking out the different animals & even taking selfies with the "residents" in front. They said it reminds them of the Knott's characters. read more

Awesome feed store! Cheap prices for good amounts! I bought a huge sack of Timothy hay for only $6, which late us about 2 months. It was a healthy grip of hay and my bunnies loved the blend they had. Will definitely go back there again. read more

Just simply a throw back to how family owned stores were meant to be. Our family loves this business for its customer service and all the variety of pet supplies they carry and can special order for your pet. From your common dog and cat, small farm animals and even that exotic reptile your looking for. They can order whatever your looking that same week. read more

I live in Palm Springs area, the desert! I came to LA area and have been here for a week and a half. I brought my American Bully with me and he ran out of food that I had brought. I only needed something for today and tomorrow since I will be returning home soon. I called and was helped out by Gilbert. Rather than selling me a couple of pounds he kindly offered me some food samples instead. Very nice feeding store. They seem to do special food order upon request so that's a plus if looking for a certain food brand. Nice feeding store, I know where I'm stopping by next time I stay in the area for a few weeks again. Thanks read more

This place is absolutely amazing! My family and I will never step into a pet smart or petco again for our pets needs after coming here. We walked in Wednesday evening to take a look around and the employees there were so helpful and knowledgeable.. that brought us back Thursday morning to stock up for our pets. They sell food for a dollar a pound which is awesome! (Hamster and bunny food at least, I'm sure the other food too) the prices are good and customer service is incredible two things that are going to bring us back for all of our animals needs. read more

This is a great "one stop" store for pet products and food, it is a small store not like Petco or Petsmart but they will have the necessary items. I have cats, dogs, rabbits, pigeons and fish. They specialize in high quality dog and cat foods, I can buy only what I need for the rabbits and pigeons, one pound two pounds, etc because they sell in bulk . The store is clean and organized and the staff is helpful, knowlegable and pleasant. They will answer any of your questions about the care of your pets. If your posted hours say 12, customers should be able to expect you to actually be open at 12. The customer service was also unpleasant. The owner came across as rude and had an unfriendly attitude, which made the whole experience worse. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place.

So I see they have a handful of tarantulas and I want to get one. I flagged down an employee who sed only the manger could help me with the animal. Ok never had that problem anywhere else but ok. So he says he'll be right with me... we wander and wait for almost 20 min. Manager comes over and says I see you're interested in getting one of our tarantulas. I say yes and he proceeds to say "unfortunately we are done selling animals for the night and that I'd have to come back tomorrow". I literally was like are you joking?! He sed no I'm not I just used the last of my time to help someone with a hamster and I have to tend to the animals in the back befor I run out of time. It was only 7:15pm. They close at 9pm. I asked if someone else could help me. He sed no because no one there is trained to handle the animals. (I've quite literally purchased animals 10 min before closing and someone anyone has always helped me) I asked if I could purchase the tarantula and then retrieve it on my own if they unlocked and gave me a box he sed "Sorry no we don't allow that" (Again I've done it befor multiple times-sometimes because an employee was terrified of touching the spiders) So I leave annoyed and confused and kinda ticked off that I waited when I was told I was gonna be helped. Didnt think I was gonna be back the next day but there I was picking up dog food bright and early with my friend and we stop in again. I walk up to Franco and ask if he could help me out with the purchase of an animal. "No problem" he says. Another employee helps me with filling out paperwork and Franco asks if I have the proper set up. I let him know I'm a keeper of Ts as I call them and he lets me know he's the general manager. So I ask him some questions regarding the day before. I told him it would've taken not even 5 mins to collect the tarantula cause at that very moment the employee who helped me with paper work came back in less than 5min with the T I requested and sed she was so calm and cooperative. He apologized for the employees rudeness and lack of customer service aswell as for me having to come all the way back out (I live near west la). No pressure, no upselling... just real advice from people who clearly care about pets. Lucky can be picky, but everything I bought ended up being a hit! The store is super clean, well organized, and has a great selection. You can tell they take pride in what they do. I'll definitely be coming back regularly for Lucky's supplies. If you want a pet store that treats your fur baby like family, Top Dog is the spot. Highly recommend!

The cages they are keeping the rabbits in are not good for their feet. I think the management should research rabbitrys and improve their housing. Bunnies are very easy to litter train. Also- If they are breeding these bunnies, it is not very responsible. Adopt don't shop. read more
