The doctor's are professional and what I like is that they don't pressure you for any changes just to set up a claim with your insurance. I am a nervous Nelly at the dentists office. This was the third time I have been here and every time it has been a different dentist. Today was a terrible experience. This third dentist was off putting and annoyed out the gate. The first time I had work done, I asked for a topical numbing agent before getting the injection. They said they do not provide that. As scared as I am of pain, I said I can't get a shot without the numbing pain. They found some and I was grateful. My cavities were fixed and the dentist was great. However, today the dentist put the numbing agent after I requested it twice. The dentist was supper annoyed with me. He applied the ointment and immediately grabbed the needle and was over me ready to administer it. I asked for at least a minute or two before he injected me. He snarkly said, "Don't you know how a topical agent works?" His eyes kept futtering in annoyance. I asked a question or two and he was beyond annoyed. I asked if he was annoyed with me and he said with blinking eyes, "DO YOU WANT TO RESCHEDULE!" Well, at this point, yes, I do and thank you because I do not want you working on my teeth. I have been a patient since 2013. the back of an old front tooth crown broke off. it was going well, until i ate popcorn and a kernel was bitten by the front damaged tooth The rest of the crown broke off on Tuesday evening. To start out it was difficult to get an appointment as this office has strange hours. I needed a sleep device,and was finally able to get in. It didn't seem very urgent to them,and they told be they will reach out in a few days this was Wednesday. I called on the following Monday to follow up,and was told they need to check with the dentist to see what his charge would be. I was then contacted and told it's was going to be $1000 out of pocket. No thanks! I'll find someone that can do better. read more

This is a totally professional office that is pleasant and friendly. The front desk is kind and knowledgeable. The dentists are as well and are bilingual. I checked out 4 offices for my 88 year old mom and selected this one for their professional rapport on the phone. They returned my calls in a timely manner and call you personally to remind you of your appointment. They also met my requirements of accepting my mom's insurance and being close to my mom's home. I was very content with the lighthearted atmosphere of the office and care they bestow my mom who hadn't been to the dentist for years and is getting great attention and service. Extremely unprofessional management and customer services. I wish 0 stars are available. For my experience with the dental care, I may give 2.5 stars. I wonder how this place got many good reviews. They canceled my original appointment a day before and set up a new appointment time due to their own situation. Understandable. No complaints. But when I finally got there at the new appointment time, I learned that my appointment had been put an hour earlier than the time they had told me on the phone. And the receptionist said that I was extremely late and needed to set up a new appointment time. I felt very frustrated that the receptionist didn't even apologize for that incident and treated me as if I made the mistake. And then she changed her words that the dentist would still see me if I could wait until the current extraction patient was done. I had chosen there because I simply needed a regular cleaning, and it's close from my place. But I don't think I should continue seeing people who aren't reliable for further care and communication. It is easy to decide to change my dentist because the level of dental care hasn't been impressive either. Everyone makes mistakes, so the real problem isn't making mistakes but not admitting their mistakes nor trying to improve their poor management system. If they had a simple reminder system via phone call, text, or email that most healthcare providers use these days, I could've easily caught and corrected the miscommunication issues before things went so wrong. I wasted my time, my schedule got messed up, and it was very unpleasant to be treated unprofessionally. Hope they get what I mean and improve their management and customer services. read more

I didn't get the front office lady's name but she was really nice too, and the lady who did my x-rays was super nice! She knew I was nervous and she made me feel comfortable. DEFINITELY 0 STARS! I am in complete disgust, in how this dentistry conducts its business! They were my Primary Care Dentist issued by my insurer and I went in for a tooth ache. Turns out, I needed a root canal. I received a pre treatment estimate which totaled about $800 after my insurance. The front desk lady named Janett or Janette did a horrible job explaining the estimate and left me having more questions. So I decided to contact my insurance, to assure myself that the charges were correct. My insurer assured me that in fact the codes they were using were WRONG for that specific tooth and actually OVERCHARGED me by $400. My insurance called this dentistry and spoke with Janette, to clarify their errors and make them aware they were overcharging me. My insurance then contacted me to tell me that Janette was extremely upset but that I was now okay to go back with the correct estimate. I tried calling this dentist, afterward to reschedule my appointment, but they ignored all my calls. I was then able to contact them using a different number, only to tell me that I was no longer a patient of their's. Keep in mind this happened in a span of 3 DAYS. Instead of the dentistry accepting their mistake and fixing them, they decided to RETALIATE against me by transferring me out of their dentistry. PLEASE DO NOT GET TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY THIS DENTISTRY, INFORM YOURSELF AND ASK QUESTIONS. read more

The woman at the front desk already had taken down my insurance information, which was very professional and made for a stream-line experience. The dental assistant was very kind and sweet. The dentist herself was great. This was a new insurance for me and a new dentist. She explained what was on my xrays, she explained what she would be doing today for my visit. I was under the impression that you treated me since that's what I requested when I called to schedule the appointment and was told that I would be seen by you. I do have to say that whoever did examine me that day was extremely unprofessional, rude, and spoke to me in a very degrading and condescending manner. I was extremely appalled by the way I was treated and horrible service I received as previously indicated. I do appreciate your offer but first impressions go a long way especially in important decision such as choosing a good Dental practice. I have been able to change my plan from an HMO to a PPO and will go back to my Dentist that I've been going to for over 7 years now. You asked me what you could have done better, my only advise as a consumer is make sure you hire people that care and love what they do, respect the customers, and provide customer service at a high level. (I meant to write this last year. So sorry for the delay in this review, Dr. Winston.) I am amazed with Dr. Winston! He has left me in awe.... I have always been the the type who gets extremely nervous with dental work as with many people. When I was very young, I had this fear of seeing the Dentist. Give me a break---who DOES want to see the Dentist? But, as you grow older, you realize just how important your teeth are to our very well being. I am now 56 years old. You don't realize it, but without teeth, we cannot eat properly, or talk adequately, or even function normally. Without teeth, our mouth decays and our entire well-being decays. Thus, this decay, effects us in so many significant ways in our lives. Many of us do not realize how healthy teeth effects the entire health of our bodies--and they effect our entire well-being. I learned this through the years.... I have experienced the very low points in my life when I have had the typical cavities and didn't always see the Dentist when I should have on a timely basis. And, times when I had about 4 or 5 teeth extracted before beginning the process of braces. And, after I had braces for two years, I didn't always wear my retainers that were required after having braces. Actually, I don't remember ever hearing from my former dentist that I needed to wear them permanently for the rest of my life. If I had and had been told that wearing retainers are detrimental to my teeth in the future, I would have definitely responded in a different way. Now at 56, I am all the more concerned about the health of my teeth. Why---you ask--do I have to write all of this? Because it is important for me to say to all of you, that most of you are like me....too scared to see the dentist for so many reasons. I was referred to Dr. Winston in May of 2017 and saw him for an old, cracked veneer. I was panicked because the veneer was one of my front teeth and I needed it done right away. He was more than accommodating and came up with a plan of action. After a couple of weeks, the results were amazing! Thereafter, I decided to get more needed work done, and I must say, I am very pleased with his work. I am truly very thankful! Dr. Winston, very calmly, explains exactly what needs to be done; He listens to your concerns; and he performs very confidently. The results are phenomenal! He is not only professional, patient, and thorough, but he is also a true artist. He is unlike any other dentist I have ever known. He is definitely the VERY BEST IN DENTISTRY! Definitely need to get rid of their answering recording. I believe this office does not return calls because they don't listen to the recordings in a timely manner. This office made me feel like they were doing me a favor for allowing them to be my dental office. After switching facilities, I was shocked at how dentistry has advanced. I was able to have my teeth professionally cleaned and received a crown in 1 day. No gooey mess with return appointments. A front office staff who was friendly and helpful vs limited acknowledgment and wait time of 45 minutes. Definitely do your research. read more

Could not recommend this dentist. The quotes they give you are very inconsistent. Charging co-payments for some family members and not for others on the same insurance plan for the same treatment. Also the receptionist is extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. She takes customers phone calls on speaker discussing financial matters while the entire office can hear the conversation. She also makes no effort to give you an urgent appointment when you are having emergency pains. Sounding completely indifferent when you try to reason with her explaining the pain your in. Referring me to my insurance company to find another dentist that will take me in with a sooner appointment. I would definitely avoid this facility as there are a host of other, more professional/passionate, dentists in whittier that are far better in every way. read more
